I had a lot of fun watching this drama...it was similar to The Girl from Nowhere in the best of ways. Mysterious, supernatural being punishes evil doers, but one can't tell if she's entirely good herself. I could tell Park Shin Hye was really having fun playing Justicia and I had a lot of fun watching her. I like how the stories ("cases") were presented in an episodic format, which fits this type of genre. I also worried it would get formulaic, but they managed to have other things going on, as well as an overarching plot line that gets resolved in the end.

One of the advantages this drama has over TGFN is that its story has closure. I know they're going to have a second season, but to be honest, the ending already felt like a proper one.

The male lead felt superfluous, though. I get that he's a supporting character and while I didn't expect him to have a bigger role, he didn't really contribute anything* whatsoever to the plot. Justicia does all the physical fighting, which was expected...but he was a detective in charge of some cases. I thought he would at least discover a few things or solve a few things...or at least provide some useful information to her...but he really doesn't do anything.

He was one of the victims of the whole serial killer plot, but there were other victims as well whose trauma was explored better and showed the POV of the serial killers victims sufficiently. If they took him out of the script, nothing would change.

There's a theme in the story where Justicia gets punished because she starts to develop feelings and starts to care for people...so I thought this was where the male lead (I can't even remember his name) could contribute (Why not? There are plenty of traditional stories where the girl love interest brings 'light and emotion' to the male lead's life, so no problem with the role reversal here)...but the drama easily shows how Justicia learns to develop feelings caring for her neighbors* and even some of the victims of the cases she handles...so the male lead's role again becomes useless, because Justicia can learn to develop feelings and empathy even without him.

There's a part where Justicia loses her powers and I would've liked to see how she handled that challenge more, but it's relatively brief and unexplored. She also has two likable helpers in Valak (his discovery of religion and use of devil allergy powder was funny) and Grimory (loved how she seemed like an evil backstabber, but turned out to be just an overly loyal fangirl to Justicia) and I loved the trio they formed.

There's an overarching plotline where they kept hyping "Satan" up as one of the main antagonists, but while his end fight with Justicia was decent, it was a bit anticlimactic. He wasn't really the main villain, but I think he could have been developed more or posed a bigger threat. As a fan of mysteries, I also wanted more of a treasure hunt when it came to them searching for that dark stone Satan was after. It was another part of the drama that had the potential to be interesting, but fizzled out in the end.

Overall, this is an entertaining watch if one can turn their brain off and appreciate the over-the-top punishment of criminals and their comedic send-offs where Justicia literally sends them to hell. The sets and costume design in "Gehenna" also looked good, but we only catch a glimpse of it. One interesting thing is that while the characters are based on Christianity, the depiction of devils/demons is slightly different. In here, they aren't really evil, they just happen to be in charge of handling bad people, while the angels are in charge of taking care of the good ones.

An unforgettable masterpiece.

Payback has everything I could ask for in a BL: romance, suspense, revenge, incredible chemistry, and a story that keeps you completely invested from beginning to end. This is easily a 10/10 for me and has earned a permanent place as one of my favorite BLs.

It's hard to believe this is Min and Toptap's first series as lead actors, let alone their first project together. Their chemistry feels completely natural and effortless. They bring Sun and Yohan to life in a way that makes every scene believable, and I'll never forget their performances. Toptap and Minlee have officially become my favorite actors.

Min's acting deserves special recognition. His performance is extraordinary. He has this incredible ability to keep an almost expressionless face while still letting the audience understand exactly what Sun is thinking and feeling in every moment. That's not an easy skill, and he executes it flawlessly. Even the subtle changes in his hairstyle and hair color help make each stage of Sun's journey feel like a different version of the same person, showing just how much attention was given to his character's growth.

I also loved the overall atmosphere. The series trusts its story instead of constantly interrupting emotional moments with exaggerated comedy, silly sound effects, or unnecessary gags. There are humorous moments when they're needed, but they never undermine the darker, heavier themes. That balance makes the emotional scenes hit even harder.

As someone familiar with the manhwa, I was impressed by how faithfully it was adapted. It captures the heart of the original while still feeling cinematic and emotionally powerful.

Finally, one of the biggest strengths of Payback is that it succeeds in both areas that many BLs struggle to balance. It delivers a gripping, well-written plot and genuinely excellent NC scenes that serve the relationship instead of existing purely for fan service. Finding a series that excels at both is rare, and Payback accomplishes it effortlessly.

This is one of the most complete BLs I've ever watched, and I honestly don't think I'll ever forget it.

Some Knives Leave Invisible Scars

I went into The Old Woman with a Knife expecting an action thriller, but I came away with something much more emotional and reflective.

At its heart, this is a story about growing older, carrying the weight of past choices, and wondering if it’s ever too late to change. The film takes its time, allowing quiet moments to speak just as loudly as the action. While the pacing is slower than your typical assassin film, it never felt boring to me because every scene added another layer to the characters.

The lead actress is phenomenal. She portrays Hornclaw with incredible strength, vulnerability, and dignity. You can feel the years of experience behind every movement and every glance. She doesn’t need to say much for you to understand what she’s carrying, and that’s what makes her performance so powerful.

Kim Sung-cheol also deserves a lot of praise as Bullfight. What initially seems like the role of a ruthless antagonist gradually reveals itself to be something far more heartbreaking. Beneath his obsession lies a lonely, abused boy who never forgot the first person to show him kindness, stability, and genuine care. His longing to recreate that bond makes him both unsettling and deeply tragic. It’s a layered performance that kept me feeling conflicted right until the end.

One of my favourite parts of the film was the dog. In a world filled with violence and loneliness, the bond between Hornclaw and the stray dog brought warmth and humanity to the story. Those quieter moments became some of the most memorable, reminding us that even someone who has lived such a harsh life still has the capacity to care and be cared for.

The cinematography is beautiful without trying too hard, and the fight scenes are grounded and believable rather than overly flashy. The film focuses less on spectacular action and more on the emotional cost of the life these characters have chosen.

The ending won’t satisfy everyone, but I thought it suited the tone of the story. It’s bittersweet, thought-provoking, and stayed with me long after the credits rolled.

If you’re looking for a fast-paced action film, this might not be what you’re expecting. But if you enjoy character-driven stories with outstanding performances, meaningful themes, and a protagonist who proves that age doesn’t define strength, then I would definitely recommend giving this film a chance.

Sometimes the quietest stories leave the deepest mark, and The Old Woman with a Knife is one of them.

Just watch this already or you will miss a great series

Wow what an amazing series. Everything is just too perfect. Main leads acting is too fabulous. It doesn't feel like they are performing for the first time. And about series main leads have acted too real to feel real emotions. When i first saw the trailer of the payback i was like hmm it is ok, i don't like them too much but after watching ep 1 i totally fall in love with them and with their acting and chemistry. This series has captured everything romance, entertainment, revenge, everything. This is 10/10 series for me. I will never forget this series .Toptap minlee will remain my forever favorite actors. This series will remain top 1 in my heart. The main leads actors acting feels too real to me whether it is romance, kiss, or their intimate scenes. I wish if they could have special episode . It is 2026 best series. I wish them to progress a lot in the future and achieve a lot of love , success and lot of support of fans in their life.

An Inspiring Story About Dreams, Family, and Never Giving Up

To be honest, I really enjoyed Dream of Golden Years, and there are many reasons why it became one of my favorite recent C-dramas. While the second half wasn't quite as strong as the first, it was still engaging and enjoyable from beginning to end. My only real criticism is the ending. After the female lead returned to her original timeline, everything was wrapped up far too quickly.

The romance was one of the drama's strengths. Although the male lead clearly fell in love with the female lead at first sight, their relationship never felt rushed. Instead of immediately becoming a couple, their bond developed gradually through mutual trust, support, and shared experiences. Their chemistry felt natural and heartwarming, and I appreciated that the romance complemented the characters' personal journeys rather than overshadowing them.

What impressed me the most was how this drama explored topics that many young people can relate to. It isn't just a romance or a business drama—it tells a story about ambition, perseverance, and building a future from nothing. The characters dream of creating successful careers, escaping poverty, supporting their families, and finding something they can truly be proud of. Those themes made the story feel inspiring and meaningful instead of focusing only on romance.

The drama also pays attention to the emotional impact of childhood experiences. It shows how losing parents at a young age can shape someone's personality, leaving emotional wounds that influence their decisions and relationships. At the same time, it highlights another important message: parents' personalities and actions directly affect their children. The way adults handle pressure, love, and responsibility often becomes part of who their children grow up to be.

One of the best examples is the female lead's father. Throughout the drama, I honestly never saw him as a truly bad person. To me, he was someone with a weak personality who constantly allowed others to make decisions for him. He listened to gossip, gave in to social pressure, and was heavily influenced by his own mother, who repeatedly convinced him that he was a failure. It made me wonder: if he hadn't been manipulated by those around him, would he really have abandoned his daughter? Wouldn't he have defended her instead? His character shows how fear, low self-esteem, and emotional pressure can turn an ordinary person into someone who makes painful choices.

Another message I loved is that people who receive genuine love, trust, and support often become capable of achieving extraordinary things. The drama repeatedly reminds us that emotional support can completely change someone's future, giving them the confidence to overcome impossible challenges.

The male lead was another highlight. Instead of being the typical overprotective or dominant hero, he was incredibly supportive and always believed in the female lead without trying to overshadow her achievements. I did feel that he sometimes seemed a little too wise and emotionally mature for someone his age, but honestly, that didn't reduce my enjoyment. His calm personality made him a reliable partner and balanced the relationship beautifully.

The acting deserves praise as well. The cast delivered convincing performances, making both the emotional and lighter moments feel authentic. The leads had excellent chemistry, and many supporting characters felt memorable because they had their own motivations rather than existing only to move the plot forward.

Overall, Dream of Golden Years is much more than a romance. It's a story about family, second chances, personal growth, resilience, and believing that your past does not have to determine your future. Despite some pacing issues in the second half and a finale that could have been given a little more room to breathe, it remains an inspiring, heartfelt, and rewarding drama that I would happily recommend to anyone who enjoys character-driven stories with meaningful life lessons.

What a pleasant surprise

I didn't plan to watch this show bcz my dramalist is long but i ended up clicking on it randomly and wjen i say i binged 15 episodes without sleeping, i was so entertained, loved every minute of it
The drama is not romance centric, it have many subplots and stories for characters that are engaging and doesn't feel overwhelming either, i loved the found family between teacher, coach and football team, they were healing eo without even knowing thzt.
lin wanxing and wang fa’s romance was slow lovely and well developed, a truly stranger to lovers and fck her parents.
Loved how kids got WF to teach them and find hope again in football and teaching, after he lost his best student, he overcome the guilt and was be able to coach again
The kids were so good, portraying teenagers emotions in best way, my favorite was Qin Ao, he was playful, funny, emotional, hot headed yet very kind hearted, he was very cute

Fu Xin Shu and Wen Cheng Ye had shitty families, i loved their storyline, the angst to reconciliation with eo, seeing wcy open up to whole team slowly was wholesome

I don't want to say much, this is wholesome storyline with great communication between characters, the osts and acting, visuals were comforting

I absolutely enjoyed this but the last episodes lost me

Gu Jinzhao is 100% the star of the show. She carried so hard and I was invested in her the entire time. I also loved the romance way more than I expected. But man... those last few episodes really lost me. The only thing I absolutely ate up was the war arc because those battle scenes were actually batshit insane, they had me thinking the finale was about to be one of the best endings I’ve seen. Instead, everything felt so rushed, there were so many unresolved plotlines and characters that never got proper closure. It gave me that "’yun na ‘yon?” feeling which is such a shame because the episodes leading up to the ending were SO good that i genuinely expected a much stronger payoff.

A cute comfort drama

I really enjoyed this drama. It's a light, easy watch with two very likeable leads and chemistry that felt natural from the start. I liked the balance between the comedy and the romance, and I never felt like the story was forcing unnecessary drama just to create conflict.

My only "complaint" is that I wish we'd had more time with them as an actual couple. After spending so much time watching their relationship develop, the ending felt a little rushed, and I would have loved another episode just seeing them together.

Overall, it's a cute, feel-good series with charming characters and good chemistry. I could rewatch it for comfort.

Not even worth a rating

It's just such a nothing series.

I went into this expecting fireworks because of all the hype and glowing reviews, but what I got was just another average BL that never really justifies why it's so highly rated. It has its moments, sure, but they're few and far between. Most of the series feels surprisingly flat.

The writing introduces plotlines that either go nowhere or are resolved so quickly that they barely matter. It constantly hints at bigger things but rarely commits to them. By the end, I felt like I'd spent more time waiting for the story to start than actually watching it unfold.

The acting didn't do much to elevate the material either. I never found myself fully immersed in the characters, so when the emotional scenes came around, they didn't land the way they were clearly intended to.

Even the music was forgettable. I can't think of a single scene where the soundtrack elevated the emotion or made a moment more memorable. It mostly blended into the background, which is a shame because a strong score can often make an average scene feel special.

If you're going to watch it, honestly... leave your brain at home. I think the show would actually prefer that. It asks you not to question much because most of the storylines don't amount to anything anyway.

You'll laugh here and there. There are a few genuinely sweet moments. But for me, it was mostly just ten hours of my life I'm never getting back.

And one final lesson I learned from this: I'm never trusting a drama rating on its own ever again.

I am so disappointed kms

ugh idkkk 😭 i had such high expectations from the trailer, but this looks bad TT who gave this director the job bro... what a waste of such high-calibre actors and gorgeous costuming.

i'm constantly sitting there questioning why he chose to shoot a scene a certain way, or why he thought something was a good idea. i even looked through his previous work, and yeah... i did NOT like those dramas either 💀

- there are WAY too many camera cuts in every scene. it feels so amateur, and it's honestly distracting. the cuts aren't even smooth, and they make the blocking confusing. you'll get a close-up from one side, then a front-facing shot where you can clearly see where everyone's standing, and then the next cut suddenly makes it look like everyone's magically swapped positions 😭 it's genuinely awful visual storytelling omg.

- the lighting is so overpowering that it completely flattens everything. there's no contrast, no atmosphere, nothing visually interesting. everyone just looks washed out, and the colour grading is so dull. i genuinely feel like i've been catfished because that poster is communicating vibrancy and interesting lighting, but this is just straight buns.

- he decided to use AI for the intro and a bunch of other shots instead of using that budget to pay actual animators and artists who know what they're doing. idgaf what anyone says, using AI here just screams lazy and cheap.

- don't even get me started on the sound effects 😭 the jingles are literally the same stock sounds every mini drama/vertical drama uses. it makes the whole thing feel incredibly amateurish omgggg.

can we just get zeng qing jie to direct every drama from now on because holy hell 😭 the difference in quality between this and Provoke is actually insane.

I'm going to keep watching because I've been waiting for this since forever, but my hopes and dreams are officially in the gutter... I'm just going to treat this like any other mini drama... 😭

A psychology PhD meets a retired football coach, and together they lead a bottom-ranked high school football team to a stunning comeback. But this show is so much more. It shows what’s really happening with today's students and adults — people who look fine on the outside but are quietly carrying trauma and guilt in their hearts. It lays bare the harsh realities of school bullying, the pressure of an insanely competitive world, and how fast rumors can spiral online; then teaching us how to face each of these problems head-on and stay positive anyway.

Lin Wangxin feels like a real person with real pain and helplessness. To rebuild her self-worth, she stepped off the traditional meritocracy track, stopped chasing other people’s expectations, and chose a low-pressure job instead. By doing that, she protected the little energy she had left and stopped letting it get drained away. On her journey she met a group of kids who were just genuine and straightforward. Unlike adults, they didn’t put up walls or overthink things when they were with her — they simply accepted her as she was. The kids trusted her and needed her, and being needed like that helped her rediscover her confidence and sense of worth again.

Coach Wang Fa deliberately got close to Lin Wanxing to uncover the truth behind his student’s death. That's how he ended up with the Hongjing No. 8 football team. But as the plot deepened, the mysteries unravelled, he figured out on his own that the person he was suspecting cannot be the same who killed his precious student. He healed alongside the boys.

Wang Fa’s goal was never just physical training. What he really wanted was to teach the kids to stand up for themselves when they were doubted. More than soccer skills, the most valuable lesson he gave them was the courage to question things and to speak their minds.

The young characters here are all so vibrant and attractive. Everyone's personality is different, yet determined, chasing their dreams, doing what they love, and lifting each other up along the way. That kind of friendship and support is just heartfelt and moving.

Some people may wonder why there isn't enough romance in the beginning parts. Honestly, life isn’t just about love, there’s so much else that’s beautiful and meaningful too. Lin Wanxing's detached state in the first few episodes was due to depression, knowing that Wang Fa gradually lowered his guard. They didn't rush, but worked through issues with good communication and trust. The expressions between the two slowly changed, and the looks they exchanged became delicate and full of emotion. It's their subtle love that got me hooked. Every interaction and movement between them clearly conveys that they are deeply in love. They didn't want to be straightforward, we understand. Especially their reunion moment in the theatre, the passion and pain can be felt through the screen, how miserably they missed each other.

In short, no matter what others say, I'm quite satisfied with the romance in this drama.

What to mention some heartwarming moments:

1. When Lin Wangxin found her grandfather’s wristwatch, holding it to her ear felt like bringing him back. The soft tik-tik sounded just like his heartbeat, and memories came rushing in as if he were still alive.
2. On the rooftop, Wang Fa flipped a coin to make an important decision for his life, but the result only made him more upset because he didn’t want to leave. That’s when Lin Wangxin opened up and admitted she’d cheated — not to win, but just to follow what her heart was telling her.
3. When Wen Chengye and Fu Xinshu switched positions: the captain moved to defense, and Wen Chengye moved to midfield, playing both offense and defense. The way they let go of their egos to make the team stronger than ever, made me proud of them.
4. When Wen Chengye sprinted to join the team mid-match but didn’t make it in time, the frustration and helplessness in his eyes welled up and spilled over. All he could do was mouth a quiet, aching ‘sorry’ and the boys cried with him.
5. Qin Ao's interaction with his father and his overall personality makes him one of the realest characters in youth dramas.
5.The final monologue, the handwritten letters so touching. And I'm glad it didn't end with a cliché wedding scene, but with Lin Wanxing continuing her PhD studies.


Visually, the drama stands out. The color grading and production design create a warm, polished aesthetic that enhances the uplifting tone. The football field is full of passion, and the matches? Absolutely thrilling. The emotions are strong and could fully relate. I cried when they cried, and laughed until I lost my breath. Wang Fa’s father is one crazily dramatic side character I want to see in every drama.

The soundtrack is a combination of healing and energetic songs, just as the drama demanded. 10/10 for me.

One final word:

Road To Success has exceptionally high-quality content and ideas that fully showcased our educational philosophy; never giving up on any child, loving and respecting every student. It's honestly so rare to find such grounded settings and plots in today's dramas. I'm truly so happy that Esther Yu got to play this role. If she hadn't, I might have really missed out on Lin Wanxing.
