As a fan, this can get cringey at times but there was good acting too. This is a short drama after all, so  this is great if you want to find something to binge watch. This is fanservice at its best. The plot is the typical cliché knights-protecting-a-girl.

Recommend watching - if you're bored and want to pass the time
if you want to laugh
if you want to cringe

If you're a new got7 fan, you should definitely watch this. Yes it's cliché and cringey but it can also make you laugh and might just make your day brighter.

Signal has always been a series which caused me doubts whether I really like it or not as the summaries I have read about this series did not really catch my eye, so I am glad that I gave it the benefit of the doubt (thanks to you voters!) and I ABSOLUTELY love it! It is pretty safe to say that this series is among my favourites right now.

The story was well-created and told in a way that it would keep your interests throughout the show, in which they mislead you with different plot twists and side stories, which eventually were connected to the main story itself.  By dealing with several crime/rape cases. the producers and directors approached each crime in a different way. For example in one crime, you'll know the culprit immediately, while in others you did not. They did even hire the perfect actors/actresses for specific roles as all three of them exceeded my expectations with their performance, especially Lee Je Hoon's role as Park Hae Young impressed me.

So I definitely recommend you all to watch it if you haven't watched it as of yet. It is totally worth it.

The story line was messy. But if you are new to kramas like me its a great start , and itll also get you more intrigued in different genres.   The romantic side is amazing due to the chemistry between the 2 actors (bong soon & min hyuks ) it shows how two opposites can attract. This was my first kdrama aswell as the drama that got me into all of these dramas. If you enjoy this I recommend ‘my secret romance , noble my love and oh my ghost’    If you havent watched this watch it noww because you wont be disappointed. Its GREATT????????

This drama deserves so many awards. Superb. I love the story line and the characters. So much feels, life lessons and realizations. Everything is almost perfect. The story, the scene and how each of them delivered their roles.

Story - I really love the plot. Mind-blowing. The story is so new in my eyes, original story.

Acting - Their acting is so natural. I love it.

Music - It's daebak! The Scarlet Heart OST & Goblin OST feels are in this drama OST's. One of the best!

Rewatch Value - I watch drama ovee 5 times and I will watch it again and again.

The one & only thing I hate in this drama is the episodes. It deserves more! Like 40 episodes or more.

I enjoy historicals and I enjoy time travel so this film had double interest for me.  Plus the cast drew me in - I love all these actors.
I found the opening scenes, the situation in the present, unnecessarily confusing, but it does set up the situation wanted - ie 2 groups (one NK & one SK) of soldiers sent 400+ years in the past, to the Joseon era, where they meet up with Admiral Yi Sun Sin before he entered the military.  Action scenes fighting against Chinese invaders, and heart-warming brotherly bonding occur, as the soldiers try to convince the young Yi Sun Sin that he should give up ginseng smuggling to become the great military strategist he's meant to be.  All this does not offer much innovation or new perspectives, but it's very well done and the plot had sufficient twists to make it interesting.
Kong Hyo Jin as the sole female in this film does add some interest overall - not love interest but perspective & comic relief.  I'm sure that including her in the story explains the scenario at the beginning.  She acts somewhat as a narrator, or at least a narrating presence - she observes rather than plays any active part but she's always interesting to watch.
All in all this did entertain me and even moved me.  I thoroughly enjoyed the film.

I loved watching this drama...it started my adventure into Chinese dramas.  I used to only watch kdramas...not anymore. I watch both.  The acting was great.  There was some love/hate for some of the actors but that makes the drama seem real. Everybody has that one person or persons that just make you want to see them disappear.  The fight scenes were awesome.  I love the story and the music was also fantastic.  After the series ended...I wished there were more episodes.  I went back to re-watch it.  Perhaps there can be a follow up with the new emperor and his brothers.
I just love historical dramas and this one is in my top 10.

I only watched coz it said 8 episodes so it was tempting to finish it quicker. I wasnt expecting much coz the cast is just beginners. They actually did pretty good considering. I was surprised and shicked with min ho from shinee. Never seen hin act before and i thought he would be cheesy but that role was perfect for him. Hes just adorable and cute. He has a baby face for days. It was a lil weird atfirst but its actually cool. Watch it for a pass time show. Nuthn much going on but a girl in love with two men. I think theres a season 2 coming coz the ending was kinda leading

This film is very interesting, I was so caught up in the emotion of the story that I didn't even notice that no one says a thing thought the whole 30 mins. But honestly, you don't need talking for this film, everything is said in the emotions coming from the characters.

STORY: The plot of the story was O.K, this story is very easy to understand, you don't really need to use context clues to figure out what's going on.

ACTING: The acting was very well performed. They don't even have to say anything, you can see everything they want to say, and every emotion they feel just by seeing their expressions.

MUSIC: I believe there wasn't any??

REWATCH: Maybe, if I get bored

OVERALL: The filming of the movie was great, the story line could use some work, but its clear. The acting is very well done, and may rewatch it.

If you like one-sided love, with a lot of emotions then this is definitely worth a watch.

Before starting, I do feel it is necessary for me to point out that this is my first review. I am not the type of person who feels inclined to do things as little as comment, never mind write a whole review, but it is such a shame that no one else has written one. I feel obliged to at least lead others to this drama.

This drama brings an average plot to life. Tokunaga is one half of a comedy duo that is struggling to secure real gigs. He comes across Kamiya, and their friendship begins with a bright spark (pun definitely intended). What I like about this drama is that it tries to stay realistic. It doesn't stay bright and cheery throughout the series. Instead, all of the characters take hits and deal with them in their own way. It also portrays a wonderful friendship between Kamiya and Tokunaga, and it is a joy watching them interact on the screen. The humor of the series was never lost on me, and I found myself laughing at a lot of the skits they showed. There are a few slow scenes, but due to the nature of the drama it works well.

The only thing I would criticize about the story is the last thirty minutes. It's pretty unnecessary, and I wish they ended it differently. I've never read the novel (and, as far as I know, there is no English translation), so I cannot say whether or not the drama sticks to the original ending. If it does, then I suppose it's an okay ending. If the writers changed the drama's ending, then... why did they do it this way? At least I can say I was certainly surprised, haha. Despite the ending, I would still wholeheartedly suggest this drama. Don't let the last thirty minutes I vaguely mentioned drag you away from watching it.

I never feel like I can properly judge actors, but I didn't find any issues with the cast.  At no point did any of them make me cringe. I never thought to myself, 'yikes, that was pretty bad.' I thought all of them really suited their characters, and everyone was brought to life. I really liked Kento Hayashi in particular, and I can definitely picture myself watching something with him again in the near future.

The music was really good, no surprise. I don't have any complaints. Brother by OKAMOTO'S was instantly added to my playlist the second I finished the first episode.

I've only ever rewatched one thing, so I don't envision myself watching this once more. Clearly, I'm not big into watching things more than once. Maybe in a few years I would come back to this, but as for now, I have no plans.

Overall, I definitely would suggest this to those who want to watch a touching drama. It's a wonderful drama that deserves to be more popular than it is.

The story keeps dragging on and on and on especially with Yunge's longing for Ling Gege... it keeps repeating and got to a point it is just plain annoying. Then a typical Chinese writer plot of misappotunity to tell her real name when met the real Ling Gege... these childishly used technique is so typical in many Chinese drama, which leads me to believe in the uninnovativeness of Chinese writters and producers. Too many stale techniques used to stall and drag the drama. Many typical textbooks tactics used over and over again in most Chinese drama.

This is for me the BEST rom-com of 2017! I highly recommend it!

Where should I start? Everything was so perfect in my opinion. The chemistry between the leads was by far one of the best I've seen in dramaland, it was cute, heartwarming and it felt so real. The stories of the rest of the characters were also very interesting ; I enjoyed watching the 2 other couples so the episodes never felt too long or boring. I think this drama was not as cliche as other rom-com I've seen, the lead couple acted very maturely, the ex was not annoying at all, there were no misunderstandings and no fights for no reason. This drama has also one of my favorite OST (Moonmoon <3). I usually never rewatch dramas, but I might rewatch this one because I already miss it!

What can I say? Choi Si Won and his adorable dimples are back! Choi Si Won plays Byun Hyuk, a carefree third generation chaebol whose family is super awful, who falls in love basically at first sight with Kang So Ra's Baek Jun, the plucky, multi-parttime-job-holding, no-nonsense girl of modest means. There's a second male lead, Kwon Je Hoon, who grew up with Byun Hyuk (played by the adorable Gong Myung). Some of the writes up I've seen describe the plot as 'rich boy learns to be a good human', but my read of it is more that the rich boy in question has always been a good human - he's just been living his life oblivious to consequences. So really, the story line is him learning that there are consequences to actions and how it awakens his desire to try to reform "Hell Joseon", or at least his little slice of it, for a new era.

I'm not going to lie, it's an uneven story. Choi Si Won is game as always to be an over the top goober - which is really why we loved him so much in She Was Pretty - but sometimes it's too much in this drama and he's not as good at anchoring the drama as he should be. A lot of the trend lately seems to be that shows are heavier, with highlights of humor, so what starts out funny, often ends up going pretty serious and dark for some portion of the middle and/or end.  This show embraces the humor throughout and keeps it going. Even with that, I still greatly enjoyed the show.

Actors r always picked to play right part. Great group of cast. However a person having the ability to see that made me anxious as well as frustrating. Only because you dont desire to see someone loose their life. Every scene or shall i say death its a new sceneror (ms)  It's slow passed easy to watch. If your used to fast paced dramas this isn't for you. Why 500 characters is ridiculous. People should be allowed to either give a short or lengthy review. Its frustrating when there's know indication that you've succeeded in doing so.

This drama made me started to ask myself will I be the same person in the future ? or will the years change me ? .

I really loved this drama , it was so realistic & it is not just a youthful romance but also a slice of life drama without the heaviness that we usually find in this kind of genre . And is not like the normal romance stories where they love each other > break up cause of a 3rd party > end up together .. the end !!
Like the couple as it was stated in the summary they were separated for years , so they experienced different things & they became older , there is so much to think of & not just LOVE so that’s why I loved the story line .. the couple even if they are still in love with each other they have doubts in their relationship .

The concept of the drama is for mature audience ... you can see the lovey dovey type of romance in the past scenes but I wont consider it as the genre of drama .

Fan Kris is so cute ,  I am in love with his eyes they 're so beautiful , I liked his acting he portrayed the character well ..
As for the Leads as a couple they were cute but actually for me I loved the ( Zhu Xuan x Yuan Lang ) couple more they were more interesting and fun to watch .

The cinematography is so amazing ! I liked how they made the transition from the present to the past vise versa , it was so smooth that sometime got me confused  .

The OST was perfect it suited the drama mood .

The ending also got me confused at first but I loved it , I find the whole production is well executed ..

NAYSAYERS DON'T HAVE A CLUE.  THE BEST C-DRAMA HALF I'VE SEEN TO DATE.

UPDATE/2ND HALF REVIEW:  TROUNCES NIRVANA IN FIRE IN THE FOLLOWING CATEGORIES (see below)

I'm writing this review after seeing up to EP38 (a little more than half of the show).

Where I am coming from, I have seen most of the popular C-dramas:  Nirvana in Fire, Princess Agents, Three Lives Three Worlds, Fighter of the Destiny, Ice Fantasy, The Mystic Nine, Candle in the Tomb, etc.

Most above managed to slack off in quality about mid-way thru, I was surprised T&E remained consistent in quality like in the first Ep.

STORY:  Well, what did ya expect?  Novoland arose as a competitor to The Lord of the Rings.  So any story set in Novoland is bound to resemble LotR.  But since this is a Chinese work, it will also feature aspects from works of the revered Jin Yong mixed with a bit of Imperial Palace drama here and there.  For example, I thought that MYS+Pan Xi looked very much like YG+XLN from ROCH.  (I won't go into what happened to Pan Xi in Ep37, but she should return to MYS at some point later on, just like YG+XLN reunited after 16yrs separation..)

ACTING:  A+

MUSIC:   OMG, I put on my Sony headphone, and the soundtrack sounds just like in theater.  One of few shows that actually does a high quality sound hardware justice.

REWATCH:  Are you kiddin me?   This is a 75epsx40min long movie (or pretends to be one).  Even those lovely nature scenes are worth rewatching just for their sake...

------------------------------

This is my (updated) review after having seen all 75 pisodes.

TROUNCES NIRVANA IN FIRE IN THE FOLLOWING CATEGORIES:

The time has come to give T&E an overall assessment.

1. THEY ALL <removed expletive language> WANT TO BECOME KING/EMPRESS (or prophesized to become one) EVERY LAST ONE OF THEM. In NiF, most main chars are satisfied with being nobodies with some rank.

1 T&E
0 NiF

2. FRIGGIN EPIC BOSS BATTLE AT THE END. The next most friggin awesome boss fight was between YG and GWM in RoCH '83.

1 T&E
0 NiF

3. SHOW DON'T TELL. I don't want to hear about how some guy marched alone straight into the enemies' camp and talked them into killing each other. Show me in gory details what really happened.  Likewise, I don't want to hear about the Sovereignty Seal/Soarers/Oceanides/Giants, etc.  Show me what they really look like.

1 T&E
0 NiF

4. GORGEOUS CGI. OMG, half-way thru NiF keeps replaying that zoomed out village shot with some CGI birds flying across the sky and it looked like it was done by kids.

1 T&E
0 NiF

5.  LETS YOU EXPERIENCE IMPERIAL LIFE IN A REALISTIC WAY.  This drama shows you what it's like to be General, Emperor's guard, etc.  Their social standing, and the conflicting decisions they must make.  I took away none of this from Nirvana in Fire.  In the Forbidden City, there are these creatures that eat gold and are made emblems  of.  T&E even has this version as a golden beetle that eats gold nuggets.

1 T&E
0 NiF

T&E does contain a lot of flaws. It's great as a standalone work, but next to Novoland: Eagle Flag, probably won't have 50% of the latter's glory and execution. The flaws:

- Bad editting
- To explicit (sexual/gory)
- Annoying chars (too abundant)
- Could never understand why some women fell for SFHY
- Could never understand Nanku Yue Li's obsession with being Empress
- Too many flashbacks
- Too few high fantasy figures (Soarers/mermaids/giants)
- Some stuff don't make sense (how can anyone survive without Vitamin D [sunlight] for so long?)
- Some Mary Sue type superwoman chars (Helan Tie Duo)
- Cheap-looking CGI in certain parts (black Dragon in MYS's nightmare)
- Wizard's staff looks yucky (it's just a stick with mounted metallic head piece)
- Overused some Imperial cliches (bad Queen/Emperor always gets attacked on a hunting trip, etc.)

Overall rating:   Sorry to disappoint the naysayers, but still a solid 9.0/10.0 despite those obvious flaws.

Overall rating (my scale)

23.0/10 - A great RoCH adaptation
18.0 - A good RoCH adaptation
18.0 - T&E
18.0 - Ode to Gallantry 2017
17.5 - Nirvana in Fire
16.0 - Fighter of the Destiny
14.0 - Princess Agents
12.0 - Three Lives, Three Worlds TV drama
12.0 - Dragon Nest: Warrior's Dawn movie in 3-D
9.0 - Candle in the Tomb
7.0 - Ice Fantasy
