Before watching this movie, I read the reviews first and I was intrigued with those who said they don't understand the ending and whatnot. I guess you need to analyze a little bit in order to get the meaning of the story. I did had a hard time analyzing the things that is going on the movie but as the ending approaches, it actually made sense. I totally get it (For those who don't know Greek Mythology, you might want to search Pygmalion).

I don't know any of the actors but they were great and they fit the characters. I must say it is a sad, nice movie, and it is worth watching.

I just can't with this series! When I saw season 1 I was on board, and then season 2 go went and f***ed me up!! I love how this series shows the simplicity of LGBT. It's so like "people make such a big deal out of it, but in reality this is how simple it is, just love in its basic and purist form"
Then obviously the ships in this show kill me, especially Frame and Book!! They give me life!
This series has left such an impression on me and I will not forget it!
The writers are ginius so if they do a season 3 I don't doubt it will be also a work of art!
Breath if you agree!!!!

Up to episode 50ish are still o.k., after that when the director's wife took over the script writing, it just went down the drain. Ridiculousness to the highest order from then onward.
How can the director allowed his wife to continue writing rubbish scripts??? Lack of professionalism on the director's part.

Contributing to point is the fact that the male and female leads became a couple after the drama end. Although they split up after 2 years, during the drama, their chemistry is over the top.

Love the story line and the OSTs are awesome. ;)

This drama is sublime! I don't know why I was putting Chicago Typewriter off for so long. I just saw the poster art and read the synopsis and decided that it wouldn't be my thing. I was SO wrong!

Chicago Typewriter is a love story, but it is also a beautiful story about friendship. Often, its themes on friendship are much more provocative and moving than its love story. Its discussion on loyalty, betrayal, forgiveness and redemption is so beautiful and poetic. The drama collects a strange ensemble as its cast: the snob of a writer, his number one fan turned anti-fan and a mysterious ghostwriter. These three leads have such interesting character arcs.

Intertwined with the main present day timeline is a parallel story about an Independence Fighter Group during the Japanese Occupation in the 1930s. This story is just as intriguing if not more than the main arc. The 1930's story adds depth and a poetic tone throughout Chicago Typewriter. Through the drama, the characters in the 1930s showed amazing strength and restraint which was often palpable. In contrast, sometimes the modern day story was not always able to deliver on the character depth to the same extent. Again and again, the 1930s storyline kept me hungry for more.

Chicago Typewriter is certainly one of the best dramas this year. In all honesty, what are you waiting for?! You should start this drama now!! No time to lose!

SAVE YOUR TIME!!! Don't watch!!! (Or at least not until 2018) This drama ends in a cliffhanger! Like I'm fairly new to dramas so have only watched 30 or so and none of those ever ended in a cliffhanger and with a 2nd season as well. First of all I struggled to get through This but kept pushing through cuz I wanted to see how it ended. But it doesn't end! The 2nd season comes out next year. Until then my rating for this will be low. Lesson learned on my part though, moving forward I will be checking to make sure the drama doesn't have a 2nd season.

I would've actually never believed that I would rate a drama with a perfect 10 considering all the factors in it but with The Guardians (a.k.a. Lookout) it just happened.

I just finished watching the last episode and, honestly, I'm still feeling all the excitement that made me watch 10-15 episodes in a row. I'm a big fan of Shinee so when I knew that Key was acting on It I (almost immediately) searched for the first episode and started watching it without even checking out what was it about. Since I'm used to my sweet romantic/comedy dramas, its needless to say that I was so not ready for this.

The story was one that I've never seen in a drama before (maybe because of my lack of 'experience' with action dramas) however I know that the story, just as it was, wouldn't go anywhere without what really kept me at the edge of my seat each episode: the acting.

You've probably seen a lot of comments about Lee Shi Young's character and how sometimes ´she overreacts' and 'just messes the plans of everyone else' (literal quotes from some comments on the drama's page) and I cannot say that I don't agree, I won't lie to you either because she does overreacts and she does messes up the plans more than once for other characters. However, that's exactly what her character should be like because of what happened to her... Maybe I think that way because I lost someone I loved dearly for unjustified reasons, when it wasn't really their time to go, so I believe that if I was given the chance, I would react the exact same way to make sure that justice is made. I think she did an amazing job at portraying a mother in grief and although her methods are, most of the times, not the best ones, that's exactly what a REAL person would do. Realness in her acting is what made me love her. (Besides I'm a sucker for actresses/actors that perform their own kick-ass action scenes).

Now, Kim Young Kwan... Just thinking about his work in this drama leaves me speechless. I first saw him in Pinocchio as the sweet, lovable second male lead so he was, by far, the best and most memorable of the surprises I encountered watching this. At first, one may think that his character is just obnoxious or even stupid but, oh no, if you think that right now just letting you know that you're the most wrong you've ever been. Kim Young Kwan was able to portray perfectly what a mad man can do just for revenge and, honestly? I could watch the scene where he notices that his plan has worked a million times, not stopping, on a loop, because its THAT good. So, TLDR, his acting even gave me chills.

Kim Seul Gi, Key, Choi Moo Sung, Jung Seok Yong, Kim Sun Young, Park Solomon, and everyone else in the cast did a fantastic job on their characters as well. Each of them contributed in a big way on making this drama what it is to me right now: one of the best ones I've watched in years. The music, if I remember correctly, was two songs, maybe three, if I heard right. However those 2-3 match the drama and each scene so well that you won´t even notice you´ve heard it before, that´s how good they are.

The ending was absolutely perfect from my point of view. Once you consider everything they characters went through, once you consider how the drama actually started, you will also see that there was not better ending than the one they chose.

So, summarizing, this drama started interesting and remained the same until the very end. I may be the only one thinking this (in comparison to other reviews I've seen) but, I would still strongly suggest anyone to watch this drama with an open mind and to also put yourself in the shoes of the characters because that just makes the whole thing 200% more enjoyable. Even if you're not a big fan of action, suspense, etc. Even if you just can't watch a drama without the protagonists not having a romantic relationship (there is a romantic relationship on the drama, just not for the two lead protagonists). Even if you think is too long. This drama is, for me, a MUST SEE.

I think the supporting characters kind of ruin this episode. I like the main actor/actress. I don't know why people think the main actress is annoying I think other actresses are more annoying in Korean dramas like the one in my love from the moon or goblin, (the main actress in goblin is so childish) couldn't stand them so I dropped those one. The reason I am dropping this one is because it's getting draggy and boring. I also like the music but it's not enough to make me stay. Maybe I'll watch it again in the future

Maybe this is just not a format I like, but for me The Happy Loner left me feeling underwhelmed. This is like watching a rom-com literally in fast forward and only stopping at certain scenes. Things escalate quickly, when they normally would take time to develop, so I had a hard time relating to and caring for the characters completely. The story is pretty simple, so it's not as if it needed more time to be told, and even felt draggy at moments, so it must be that I didn't like the story or characters enough.

The concept is simple. 2 neighbors who are complete opposites, one who avoids people, and one who is overly friendly and clingy, end up getting involved in each other's lives. The "Happy Loner" Ji Yeong, who I think Min Hyo Rin did an excellent job of playing, is often relatable in her extreme melancholy... I'm talking emo levels off the charts... but I have mixed feelings about the character's development. I initially liked her cold and abrasive style, and then seeing moments where she becomes more vulnerable, but by the end I felt like they just wanted a certain ending and made her fit accordingly. Gong Myung plays Byeok Soo, a character who should have annoyed me more, but he grew on me, and I ended up really liking him. What didn't grow on me was their romance, and that's probably the biggest problem. I did think they made a cute enough couple, but with not enough chemistry to justify where the story was heading and how quickly it got there. Instead of being moves, I rolled my eyes.

Now, If you have ever felt so depressed you wanted to be cut off from human contact, or if you have ever been in a relationship with an extremely guarded or emotionally unavailable person, there will probably be moments and words that resonate in this drama. However, the scenes themselves often felt kinda shallow, which didn't match with the depth I think a story like this deserves. More time was spent on their insignificant exes than on their backstories, which weren't made to be significant enough. Oh, and don't get me started on the unethical sharing of the psychiatrist, which was extremely annoying. And that reminds me to mention the supporting cast... almost every single one of them was completely forgettable. They were more like cardboard cutouts just there to move the story along.

The short story aspect makes it hard to mention much specifically without "spoilers", but I will just say that if I enjoyed this more my rewatch score would be much higher.

Overall, I wanted to like this more than I did. There is a hint of what could have been a much better drama, but since it's only 2 episodes it's still worth a watch if you're curious enough about the subject of dating when you have issues.

Let me just start by saying that I have tremendous respect for the writer of this show for crafting a story that tackles so many difficult issues in such a beautiful, touching way. No other Korean show did as much in terms of humanizing mental health and everyday struggles the way this show did.

The characters are adults that act like adults, talk like adults and struggle like adults. It's not another story of 30 year olds acting like 10 year olds. The writing touches on such issues as stigma, struggles surrounding intimacy, emotions, trauma, the necessity to choose between happy marriage and career and more.

I'd also like to say that Jang Jae Yeol is one the sexiest, most irresistibly crafted male characters I've seen. He has this aura of intellectual cockiness around him that is very alluring. I'm also happy to see Gong Hyo Jin in this production as she often plays characters that are not as sophisticated as this one is. I did find her character to be a bit weird at times, though.

Now I didn't give this show a 10 because even though I love the concept behind the story and I love how multidimensional the characters are, I felt that the middle of the show dragged despite the fact that the story unfolded in a kind of unpredictable way. The pacing just seems to be off.

BEST SAEGUK DRAMA. PERIOD!

10/10 for everything in this drama. It quickly became my all time fav saeguk drama!

The ending was beautifully done. Eventho it's heartbreaking, but I couldnt ask for a better finale!

The love between Yeok and Chae Gyung was really reallyyy beautiful. They are the definition of True Love. It makes me cry just thinking about them :( I feel like they're real.

Yeon Woo Jin & Park Min Young has this undeniably powerful chemistry. Hope they will do another drama again together.

Applause to all the cast and crew for their hardwork in filming this drama. This drama deserved many awards!

Whew, now I need to work hard to detached myself from this drama lol
