A Good Start
"You're Beautiful" is a good start for any new K-drama fan. It has a fun storyline and whimsical/comedic approach. This makes it appealing to the eyes. It also gives you a warm feeling after watching it! Be warned though, I wouldn't watch this if you are expecting an intense or dramatic storyline. It has a distinct type of drama that is portrayed in an amusing way, but that is about all the drama it has. Actually, I enjoy this show a lot! Especially the music. It is very heartfelt and catchy, perfect for younger audiences. Was this review helpful to you?
Pros
Overall plot is well-developed. In each episodes you will understand why things happen the way they are. You just have to pay attention to details in order to appreciate it more.
Clap-clap-clap for the writers and directors. They give me a really hard time figuring out who is the real antagonist. When I find myself hating Choi Yoo Jin then I will find myself hating more Park Kwan Soo and feeling sympathetic towards Madam Choi instead. When I find myself liking Chairman Choi but I ended up hating him most. You will also hate Assemblyman Jang but you will realize what kind of father he is. This drama is a push and pull of emotions.
Thumbs-up to Choi Yoo Jin’s character. IMO, she’s the one who shines most among all the characters. You’ll get confuse if you’ll hate her or understand her. But in the end, you will want to embrace her for she is just a girl wanting to be love by people around her. Assemblyman Jang, what a horrible father and politician he is - that’s my first impression. But then, give him chance to prove himself in this drama. Chairman Choi and Assemblyman Park, beware - don’t be tricked by these two.
Anna/Kim Yuna, I’m actually expecting a lot from her and she didn’t disappoint me. She’s good but not at her best.
Kim Je Ha/Ji Chang Wook, you never fail to surprise me. You’re really at your best when it comes to fighting and acting. Je Ha and Anna do have chemistry and I like them both but I don’t ship with them.
By the way, get ready to see the hotness of Ji Chang Wook. I think, he puts extra effort to build his body more for this drama.
Cons
There’s only one thing I hate about this drama. Why writers and directors? As in why did you make Kim Je Ha a superman? Not literally but IMHO, no normal person can fight alone a load of enemies if he is badly injured and ill.
Even if it is because of his adrenalin rush, I still couldn’t see it realistic. I almost want to skip that scene but thankfully I’m not a kind of viewer who will skip an episode because I don’t want to comment onto something I didn’t watch as a whole.
I’m not an action-drama fanatic. In all honesty, I gave this drama a chance because of Ji Chang Wook and it's worth it.
Should you want to go away for the meantime in your cliché romance-comedy drama, why not give this drama a chance? I can’t say that it’s a breath of fresh air but expect something rational enough.

The biggest problem with the series is that it was too ambitious. I think I already said it in another review: that's the main problem with most dramas these days. Since the target audience is expanding every year, the pressure is bigger. Also, most idols seem to be forced to develop good acting skills in a short span, even if they've hardly had any training. There were high expectations on the cast in this one. The result was just OK, I think.
I have to say, however, that I don't agree with all the criticism that IU's acting had to face. I actually really liked her performance (I have to say that I haven't seen any of her previous works), even though it's true that her character was poorly written.
In my own humble opinion, the best developed characters were the ones played by Kang Ha Neul and Kang Ha Na. And their performances were good enough.
I really REALLY liked Woo He Jin's moving performance and her character's relation with IU's.
As for Lee Joon Gi... well, he'll be a favourite of mine always and forever, and this character suited him. But I insist: I miss him in more lighthearted roles such as the ones he played in Iljimae or Arang. I really miss this goofy side of him. He seems to be obsessed in proving his value in dramatic roles.
All in all, I liked the story and its message (I haven't seen the original Taiwanese drama), but the direction was lacking. I feel that's also a big problem in many dramas: they have a good primal source, but some directors don't seem to know what to do with it. They wanted to try innovative things, like leaps in time (some of them I felt that really worked), but as I said, the excess of ambition was a setback.
I liked the close-ups, though. Some people complained about the overuse of close-ups, but I actually liked them (and any Lee Joon Gi, Kang Ha Neul or Nam Joo Hyuk close-up is always welcome and appreciated, let's be honest).
Anyway, in spite of its flaws, I don't think you're going to regret watching this drama.

24 episodes seems a lot for a romcom right? But no this drama is special. Yes a special kind of romcom. The plot is about love, relationship, choosing, complicated situation, life and the one that I appreciate the most is the career how they attack that field really strikes into me that I could totally relate. This drama is very hilarious! Believe me. Out of the dramas I've seen this is the funniest Lol...XD it would even make you confuse like am I supposed to laugh or not?lol
Acting: The characters were all played well beyond everything that is good. Jo Jung Suk is such a great actor, awesome and there's a bonus... his swag!!! so far this is the best drama of him. Gong Hyo Jin is always been awesome as usual. Supporting cast were all lovable too!
Let's talk about characters:
Lee Hwa Shin? Ofc in a dramaland it's given that male lead must be jerk. Yes he is. Out of the male lead jerk characters I've seen he's the best among them all, words are not enough to describe why. Hahanahha. XD No one can beat the overflowing confidence he have for himself. lol
Jeung Won? Yes the typical 2nd lead kind of guy that every girl would fall for.
Male lead and 2nd lead characters of it seems so typical in dramaland right? But what will happen if there's a twist? A change of situation like how it feels like for the second lead to get a taste of being male lead and vise versa. Are you curious now and interested? Now you'll get to know more of it and understand once you watch this drama.^^
Pyo Na Ri: a lovable female lead that is very persistent in everything I meant it in a positive way.
Aside from the main role I'll give shout out to Chi Yeol and Beom character they are my favorite^^
This drama is filled with triangles. Yes. With an "s" lots of triangle relationship that you have to look forward. All the characters are lovable and likeable, every kind of relationship.. wait... umm. some could be annoying at times but at the end of the day that annoyance will turn into like as always :)
Ost:
The ost perfectly suits to the situation like it could be hilarious, serious, sincere, love and sexy!!! XD
Rewatch: definitely!
Totally deserves a rating of 10.
You know what makes it special? Usually a genre that is filled with laughter or romance (yah romcom. lol) could give butterflies into our tummies, random feels but let's admit it most romcom, the foundation of the story of is kinda weak, lacking but Jealousy Incarnate manage to overcome that kind of struggle and relay a wonderful and genuine kind of message .
Best drama of 2016. Great way to watch it before the year ends^^
This is a kind of drama that you would not want to let go once you're close to the ending. I'll miss everything about it.
Ps: being jealous could not be bad you know. Wink

I still want a S2 if all the fans get together and push them by petitions & twitter parties we'll get it but we won't get anything by sitting and hoping..
I am still not recovered by this drama, I want to go and watch it back, I have done the same on Scarlet Heart a couple of times.

My reccomendation for those who can't start this show or dropped it? Watch the directors cut till episode 2, the first 20 minutes, then go to the normal cut episode 14. I know the show starts off slow but IT IS WORTH EVERY SECOND!
For anyone who doesn't have Netflix, you can search for the 33 episode of You Are My Sunshine on Dramanice.to, episode 33 (they also have the directors cut as episodes 33, 34, 35, and 36) then switch to episode 14.
Happy watching! :)

Some of the usual Tdrama problems where not present, like horrible audio quality. However the female lead acted out the usual cute and whimsical aside some clown characters performing the usual Taiwanese style slapstick.
The music was very good but repetitive. The audio was dubbed and thank the maker they changed Siwons dub after 2 episodes.
The story is engaging and at some points even deep enough to be immersive. Just when it's serious and you're holding your breath someone falls over and the moment is ruined.
I couldn't help wondering how these novice actors felt about meta acting, especially when they were supposed to portray acting perfection. I believe the director did a superb job with them.
I don't know why I wished for more romance. What was shown suited the story. However I wished we'd get a final confrontation that was a bit more than what they ended up doing.
I watched this because I love Choi Siwon as an actor and think he's a comical genius. His role here was much more mellow and stiff. So a tad disappointed.
Then there's the other Super Junior dude who I have no previous knowledge about. Can't really say he did bad.
Overall an ok drama with some moments that are fun, sweet, sad-ish, exciting. Good cast, good directing and good story.

Loved it so much. It's cute, cute and cuter. Usually hate amnesia tropes, but when it's used as main story and a comedy and not a desperate plot device then it works and can be fun. I can't say I cared for the story, the char development or anything really that was going on with the supporting characters. I was bored to bits but kept coming back because of the cute main couple. They didn't have chemistry but they can act....
Nothing amazing, but still well produced and wins my heart because of the good acting with a cheesy script. And... I love cheese!

This script - these actors - the directing! I can't believe how well they put it all together. The situation was so believable and I became incredibly immersed in the unfolding of the story. Such a fun main story and well handled darker/tragic subjects. What really got me was how the sideplots were paralleled to the main story, same situations of jealousy and love triangles that were solved differently due to different context or personalities.
Amazing talented veteran cast, great directing of the juniors, an ensemble that worked very well together and never disappointed. As most of the time with Kdrama the supporting characters were well fleshed out and got to have their own char development.
Brilliant editing and scinematography, keep an eye out for what goes on in the background. So many fun easter eggs, symbolism and telling through props. The music was really good and suited the scenes and atmosphere of the drama.

This show is the exception to that.
I started this show because I saw an article talking about how this new show is a must watch and really takes you by storm. That was a solid statement. Everything from Rainie and Yu Lin's acting to the plot itself is so complex, so amazing that you forget what's happening around you. They bring forward the essential questions and make you think, is there a right or wrong choice in life? Both versions of Rainie's character Ru Wei go through their own journey's and viewers are left with a choice of their own, which decision and life they approve of, one with her sacrificing her career for family or the opposite?
Quite honestly, this show really made me not only think of the choices I've made in life, but also taught me that things don't work out exactly as one plans and thats okay. I binged this show all day on Saturday and when the final episode ended at 4 am, I couldn't stop thinking about how moving this show truly was. It's been a long time since I've seen something that deeply effects me (not just in the typical romantic drama way).
Rewatch? Hell yeah! This show needs more recognition, it's actors and plot are truly amazing and I don't know about the other reviewer's rating but don't let that stop you from watching. You won't regret it!

This review may contain spoilers
"And then comes one Japanese slice of life and completely erases all the other movies she has seen in last couple of years..." Pretty much the first thought that came to my mind after watching this movie. It has blown me away. With every single thing in it. I had some idea about the plot and I knew it was gonna be some tragedy and illness thing but definitely haven't thought that it'd be such a gem, such a rare thing to watch, such phenomenal piece of art. Yes I think this movie is art. Poetic, artistic, so imaginative, full of parallels and metaphors, visually stunning, with excellent music and brilliant acting and writing. I seriously feel so weird now, I can not explain, I'm sad, I cried near the end like crazy, I'm devastated, I'm strong, I'm grateful and thankful and above all I am happy that I am alive. Description of the movie is already given on movie page so this won't be a spoiler for what I'm gonna say. Just imagine that you find that you're sick and that you're gonna die and suddenly you can extend your life in exchange for some things to disappear each day. I mean the sole idea is very original and interesting and from the first moment it caught my attention but with this pace and this excellent writing it really hit me hard. With each of those things that were disappearing, also memories with a certain person important in his life disappeared as well. With each day it was a new struggle, a new shock, a new fight in his mind and heart, terrifying knowledge that if you want to gain something, you must lose something, and when that biggest attack came, the most difficult thing he could ever lose, then it comes the final acceptance of his fate and his sickness. It was pretty hard to watch those scenes as they were very emotional and with pure rawness. I can't give enough credit to Sato's performance as he was simply incredible, his eyes, his smile, his way of talking, crying, yelling and dealing with everything, all of it was beautiful to watch. He really showed with this role that now there isn't anything he can't do and I'm glad cause of him. As most of the time he was the only one on the screen, I can't say that the others were in the same spot as he was but Miyazaki Aoi and Harada Mieko were amazing in their portrayals too, which was expected from such huge talents like they are. What amazed me the most is that by each encounter, by each of his choices we learn something new, new life lesson, new meaning of choices we make and consequences of that, we experience everything together with him and so easily imagine ourselves in his place, it was so easy to do that. And in the end what this movie really wants to say to us is what really counts -love, bonds and relationships we achieve in our lives. That even if you come to the most difficult and terrible point in your life, there will be always something, someone to make you feel good. To make you feel alive and realize why you're alive in the first place. That nothing can compare to the people you love and care about. That it is better to be loved, to love your family, friends, children and partners to the fullest even if it means that you'll live shorter, all that is better than being alone in the world without anyone to call to, to watch a movie with, to travel with but live a long life. I finally understand what 'If Cats Disappeared From the World" means. And it is something the most powerful. Go and watch this movie, either you're a slice of life fan or not, you won't be indifferent to this one. p.s. And watch movie till the very end so that you could hear the ending song and read the lyrics, it has such a deep meaning and perfectly goes with the whole movie progress. I can't say weather it is Ji Chang Wook (one of my most favorite actors, whom i've missed to see in dramas) or Song Yoon Ah (the step-mother) ,who mad this drama so impressive for me... The story was good enough, but the acting was the best and couldn't be any better...
I highly recommend everyone to watch this drama...
