Watched it for Ryeoun, but end up liking the Main girl and Lawyer better

Don’t get me wrong, I love Ryeoun’s character and his character definitely got a very cool concept. But I just think it wasn’t executed as well since it’s such a complex character for such a short drama. Like he seems like a good person but why did he kill 17 people? His character kinda just sways around, very mysterious and I really don’t know what his personality truly is like. (Maybe I didn’t watch it well so pls tell me if you know)
For the main girl and the lawyer (I don’t remember names bro) They have a clear personality and doesn’t go out of character. I find their dynamic very interesting. They contrast each other greatly, the main girl is logical while the lawyer is emotional. But in reality they are like two sides of the same coin, both very determined and would do anything to achieve their goals.
The last two episodes felt a bit rushed, I wish this drama is longer so we can get a deeper look at Ryeoun’s character. I still enjoyed watching it though, the first 6 episodes are great

Major Problem First Episode

I dropped this after one episode because of an unforgivable plot twist in the first episode.

The basic story and characters were OK if not spectacular but what killed it for me was how the writer handled the story resolution.

This of course is a medical drama. This episode's sick patient, the puzzle, and the challenge for the main character doctor to solve is a woman with debilitating pain that the medical system is unable to diagnose. Reminds me of a weak version of a typical House MD plot. This is what I found unforgivable. The doctor on cue towards the end figures out her problem i.e. solves the medical puzzle. But totally fails to explain how he arrived at that conclusion or if he was able to cure her of the disease or ease her symptoms. The woman expresses gratitude that she now knows what her malady is but the story doesn't advance to fixing her problem or letting the viewer in on how the puzzle was solved.

Be prepared to get frustrated with the script

Thus must be one of the most boring and slow series that I have come across. The script is horrible, The pace is so slow and the lead actor is really "stiff" ,not natural and the lead actress is playing such a meek and forever saying I'm sorry role. I am flabbergasted as to how the screen play is adapted to try to stretched the episodes. I find it unrealistic that 2 persons cannot take it upon themselves to clear the air and explain what caused the breakup etc . Instead it drags on like a ship without a rudder and just floats with unexplained reasons to each other. The chemistry between the lead actor and actress is not great... I have seen better chemistry in other love romance series.
The lead actress character seems so weak and for someone who had returned from the US to China after so many years to restart her life, I would have expected her to be someone with confidence, vocal and ability to defend herself or speak up for herself etc...but the character instead does the reverse... unbelievable

I am tempted to drop this series and move one to other ones who may be more interesting

"He who shouts the loudest isn't always the bravest"

The Human Condition II: Road to Eternity picked up not long after the end of the first installment with humanist thinker Kaji in basic training further away from his beloved Michiko. The frigid Manchukuo winter was the least dangerous enemy Kaji faced during the waning years of WWII.

Now in basic training, Kaji tries to keep to himself, follow the rules, and lead an exemplary military career. He is on a “Red” blacklist and constantly surveilled. Shinjo is another free thinker who is always assigned guard duty as punishment and refused promotion. Enlisted with more time in, use any opportunity to beat the new recruits, with the humiliation and pain driving two soldiers to take drastic action. When Kaji’s squad is moved to the front, he runs into an old friend who tries to help him by putting him in charge of a rifle squad and new recruits. Kaji is able to run his barracks the way he envisions which means he chooses to suffer the blows the veterans would normally dish out to the new recruits. When the Russians invade, the soldiers find out how absurdly unprepared they are for the assault.

After attempting to help Chinese workers and POWs in the first film, Kaji concentrated his views of equality and humanity on his fellow recruits and later on the new recruits under him. Unlike other soldiers who believed Japan could not be beaten even after devastating losses in the Pacific and the Allies victory in Europe, Kaji saw the writing on the wall. Despite hating the army he was a disciplined soldier and an excellent marksman, but his ultimate goal was to survive and make it home to Michiko and for his men to see their mothers and loved ones.

Being a humanist in a savage military atmosphere tested Kaji regularly. I had read how drill instructors and higher ranking enlisted brutalized new recruits as the war went on, especially college kids. Fourteen years after the war, this film showed the civilian population a taste of the cruelty their young men experienced at the hands of their own people. In order to raise morale, Kaji attempted to inject a modicum of kindness and respect into the men he trained. By giving his recruits real reasons to live, he hoped to motivate them to train hard and survive. As the wartime situation deteriorated, rifles and ammunition fell into short supply. Adequate fire power was absent in the face of the Soviet Union’s tanks and cannons. The Japanese soldiers were all but using popguns and Roman candles against their enemy. Commanders needlessly sacrificed their men. “To die here, is to die a dog’s death.”

As this film was more a psychological study of Kaji and the violent, dehumanizing military culture, the battles were rarely shown. The final battle did involve tanks and their cannons, but even then the focus was largely on Kaji and the soldiers’ reactions in their foxholes. After the tanks left Kaji and two other survivors struggling in a charred landscape, Kaji was once again forced over an ethical invisible line within himself.

Kaji’s determination to treat all men as men and with respect was harshly challenged and he paid the price repeatedly. As in the first film, he made mistakes and used violence when he felt the situation called for it. Wins for Kaji were not measured by the tide of the war or on the battlefield, but in the small moments when his actions protected his men from the army and helped them live a more fully human life in the face of fear and death.

Trigger warning: During the battle scene a person was blown up with body parts flying. Many brutal beatings. Suicide.

Action-filled BL, lame ending

If I were to write the series, I would definitely want to see them turn against each other. The ending is such a cliff-hanger, yes, however, it is unnecessary. Peace and Sun should not end up together, especially that Sun still has a fixation with Kong. I know, that in the ending, Sun did go to Kong's, saying that he already let go of the guilt and such, but it wasn't really portrayed in the story. It still seems that he saw Peace as a replacement for Kong's absence. LOL. Then the twist at the last part that Kong is still alive, Sun was stunned, Peace is nowehere in that scene, WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN. I say, RUN PEACE.

Nevertheless, the series is great. Has a lot of potential, and actually is really admirable. Acting was so good as well as the cinematography.

If you are looking for action-packed BL series, this might be for you.

Top-shelf and Captivating

I loved this. It currently sits as a top shelf watch. I loved the characters, the content (it revolves around a demon god), the wardrobe, the settings, the color palette, and the storyline. I thought the performers depicted their roles well, there weren't annoying tropes, or dragged out ideas. I also thought the side plots were smart ways of keeping the narrative fresh and adding depth to the original material. And the who-done-it reveal at the end was unexpected, making this a unique retelling of a well known story.

Although this has an enemies-to-lovers spin, it avoids the excessive violence often associated with the genre. And some scenes have so much poetry, I was engaged and heartbroken together. There have been a few online debates about the ending, but I was content with the final scene and I recommend this.

A Devotion That Lasted Beyond the End

Dominion and Devotion is a beautifully crafted political mini drama that delivers an emotional, gripping, and deeply meaningful story from beginning to end. It combines power, sacrifice, loyalty, and quiet love in a way that feels both intimate and grand. Every moment feels purposeful, and the story unfolds with confidence and emotional depth.

At its heart, this drama is a story of sacrifice, power, and quiet devotion. The political narrative is fast paced but never confusing. Every move feels intentional, every character has a purpose, and every decision carries weight. The drama does an excellent job balancing palace politics, personal ambition, and emotional vulnerability without ever losing focus. There are no unnecessary side plots or filler scenes. Instead, it respects the audience’s intelligence and tells its story with precision and clarity.

The female lead’s journey is especially compelling. She begins as someone who simply wants to survive in a dangerous world, hiding her identity and her strength. But as the story progresses, she transforms into a wise, strategic, and resilient ruler. Her growth feels natural and earned. She does not become powerful without loss. She suffers, she sacrifices, and she carries the emotional burden of leadership. Her vulnerability makes her strength even more meaningful. The symbolism surrounding her character, especially the subtle visual metaphors and chess parallels, adds depth to her transformation.

The male lead embodies quiet and heartbreaking devotion. He is not expressive about his love, nor does he seek recognition. Instead, he protects her from the shadows, making painful decisions to secure her future. His love is selfless and unwavering. He carries his secrets alone and ultimately takes them to the grave, never asking for anything in return. This silent sacrifice makes his character unforgettable. His devotion is not about being seen, but about ensuring her survival and success.

Their relationship feels genuine, mature, and deeply emotional. It is built on trust, sacrifice, and shared purpose. Even when separated by duty and circumstance, their connection remains strong. The emotional restraint in their performances makes every glance and every unspoken moment feel powerful and real.

The portrayal of cross dressing is handled with realism and care. It feels believable and respectful, allowing the audience to fully immerse themselves in the character’s hidden identity. This attention to detail strengthens the story and adds authenticity.

The villain is equally impressive. He is terrifying, manipulative, and emotionally complex. His presence creates constant tension, and his actions shape the fate of the characters in meaningful ways. He is not just an obstacle but a fully developed character who adds depth to the narrative.

Visually, the drama is stunning. The costumes, sets, and cinematography enhance the emotional and political atmosphere. Every frame feels immersive and intentional, reflecting the high level of care behind the production.

The ending is bittersweet but fitting. It honors the characters and their sacrifices without forcing artificial comfort. The male lead’s silent protection and ultimate fate leave a lasting emotional impact. The fact that he took his secrets and his love to the grave makes his devotion even more profound. It is tragic, but also deeply meaningful.

The acting across the cast is exceptional. Every emotion feels authentic and heartfelt. The leads deliver powerful performances that bring their characters fully to life, making their journey unforgettable.

Dominion and Devotion is an emotional, intelligent, and beautifully executed drama that leaves a lasting impression through its storytelling, performances, and unforgettable characters.

Rewatched 3 Times

When I first watched it, I was moved by how positive it was overall. I'm not someone who rewatches drama often, but I found myself rewatching this for the 3rd time in 2026. Times have been hard and this drama has a very positive and supportive tone between the leads, some humor, definitely a lot of cute, and what strikes the most is clear communication. It is SO refreshing to hear mature conversations between two adults about their relationship. It taught me a lot and I believe many can learn from their dialogues. This drama uplifts, while giving all the giggles since it is sort of a rom com alongside the slump trope. I recommend this to anyone who is tired of other heavier rom coms that blur the line of drama and pack way too much.

It could be better, but it works

I can't explain how much I enjoyed this drama and every single episode. It's a comedy that knows exactly when to hold back the jokes and when to exaggerate them. I laughed in every episode, and while I expected some drama and angst, I never thought it would get this deep or meaningful. It's true that the shift in the middle of the drama feels somewhat drastic, because they rushed the story, but I think they handled it quite well. Every character shines in their own way, and the chemistry between the leads is insane, it's literally the reason this drama works so well. I highly recommend it if you just want to have a good time and laugh because, in my opinion, it's totally worth it.

I NEED SEASON TWO NOW

I don't know why I waited so long to watch this!! I think I thought it was going to be one of those unpolished and poorly written web series quality type of show, BUT IT WAS SURPRISINGLY EXACTLY MY STYLE! Each character is so uniquely funny. Each person has their own backstory and there is a more serious plot, but it doesn't take away from the comedy at all. I can't believe there is no new of season two!!!! I need 100 more episodes of this adorable bunch!!

Lost in the sauce

The show started out really promising. The premise isn't anything new but it was still intriguing enough for a watch. It was also only 8 episodes making it a quick watch.

I love Shin Hae-sun. Her acting is always top tier and she always owns her characters. She did not disappoint in this one. I also recently have been loving Lee Jun Hyuk from Love Scout so I can't say anything bad about him. The cast did great in this series. The story and story telling was were it fell flat, unfortunately. Don't get me wrong, each episode brought something exciting and different - and that was good. But the story kept pushing for a particular storyline that became repetitive and confusing. I get it she has taken on multiple personalities, multiple lives, but they were mostly glossed over. They moved on to the next one without resolving the previous.. But if you just don't think about the what ifs and buts, I think this could really be a good story.

The Equation of Love(2025) is a romance miniseries with Zhu Yi Wei (as Shang Yi Huai) and Bai Xin Yi (as Liang Xia} in the leading couple’s role. The cast did a good job bringing their characters to life but the story takes too long to unravel the real identities and the FL, even when things became clear, still doubted the ML’s identity. It is clear that the leading couple has great chemistry but also some things from the past were not very clear and were rushed at the end. Overall, the acting is good but the romance could have developed better.
In the meantime, this drama can be found in YouTube under the caption:“I Was Forced to Marry My Crush’s Brother.. Now This ICEBERG CEO Wants to LOVE Me or HURT Me?!” (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uRGDh-Jx7lI)

Suited Me to a "T"

Two of my MDL friends enjoyed Glory. That, and having Hou Ming Hao as the lead, made this an easy choice for next to watch (some may not know that Hou Ming Hao is the embodiment of my beloved departed cat; I was recently told his fans have nicknamed him "Kitten," which only reinforced my impression of him).

The Good:
• My aversion to amnesia plots was tested, but it was done right and was believable.
• At 36 episodes, the drama never dragged, nor did I consider it to have needless filler.
• The tea motif was a highlight; the views of hills swathed in centuries-old tea bushes were beautiful.
• The life lessons ML imparted to the FL about relationships were exceptional: knowing when, or if, to intervene between two people, and understanding that promoting goodwill between individuals benefits all.

The Bad:
• I'm incredulous of love that survives betrayal and a literal stab to the heart. I'd be unlikely to kiss and make up after that.
• Nearly all male villains were punished; practically no female villains were held accountable. Even murder and attempted murder held no significant consequences for the females.
• The finale felt like a fragmented disaster. The Duke's household was the converse of the Rong's matriarchal society. It had as much infighting and many poisonous relationships. However, it didn't make complete sense to me: the father, who had been robust and domineering, suffered a quick decline; the sister's muddled thinking; the mother's inconsistent acquiescence to belligerence; and the concubine's nonsensical reasoning were too much and felt unconvincing. The brother's death, in particular, was a needless emotional gut punch.

I like dramas that make me think, and I've been contemplating the difference between the Rongs' matriarchal structure and the Duke's patriarchal household. Both systems trampled on the feelings of everyone involved, with the head dictating the terms by which everyone else was forced to live by.

At the end, the Duke's position had been taken by his young grandson, with his daughter-in-law holding all the power. The situation was unlikely to have a happy outcome, given its roots in scheming and bloodshed. Will the daughter-in-law relinquish power peacefully to her son as he comes of age? Will her stepdaughter prove to be a destabilizing factor? Pity the poor woman the young duke eventually marries. Lu Jiang Lai escaped a hornet's nest by abandoning that family.

The matriarch of the Rongs was left unscathed, but she will suffer the ongoing indignity of being supplanted by her granddaughter. I feel for them both as they will remain thorns in one another's sides until the grandmother's death. Slowly, Rong Shan Bao will implement changes to make the clan more inclusive and less combative. She'll allow her "sisters" to form relationships of their own choosing. Men may join the business. Will this mean a change from a matriarchal emphasis? Will this shift harm or benefit the Rong family company?
