Looks Like Luxury, but Ends Up Bland

The Art of Sarah tells the story of Sarah Kim, the Asia manager for the luxury bag brand Boudoir, and the detective investigating a corpse that is identified as her.

Like its premise centered on a luxury brand, the series has an "expensive" vibe overall, at least in terms of the setting and directing, which really capture that high-end feel. The plot is actually interesting, but it fails to stay intriguing throughout the entire series. The ending feels bland, and many things are left unexplained. Still, Shin Hae Sun portrays the role perfectly with what she's given. I actually wish we could have seen more of the early "Sarah Kim."

It could've been waaay much better...

I went into this expecting a simple rom-com with a quirky dystopian twist. And honestly? It had the potential to be exactly that: light, funny, and clever. But somewhere along the way, it lost itself.

The premise is actually very interesting: a world where only 1% of men remain, treated as rare, almost sacred beings, raised in isolation at the Farm and turned into something untouchable. The social commentary about gender imbalance, power, and commodification of men started off strong. It felt satirical, fresh, and full of possibilities. But instead of balancing comedy and critique, it slowly weakens both. The humor loses its sharpness, the social commentary fades, and what could’ve been bold becomes oddly safe.

The romance between Day and Son also feels watered down. It’s there, but it lacks depth and emotional payoff. Sorry not sorry. And I kinda feels Day little forced... I mean, the script wants her to be charismatic and revolutionary without properly earning it. I don't know... I just can't feel it in her.

What frustrates me the most is the ending. There’s an entire arc about exposing the truth behind the Farm, about breaking the system, about changing things from within. And when they finally exposed all the shit, I though: "Now they gonna be free for real and end the whole shit".... but no... they just run away... AGAIN.

And the open ending with cliffhanger?? The post-credits hinting that Son’s missing father might be alive, suggesting more story to tell, and not given me a 2° season????? B*tch you better be joking!!!

But I have tbh, it’s not a terrible series. It has good moments, the concept is fun, but overall it wastes its own potential. And that’s more disappointing than if it had just been shallow from the start.

Is forgiving somebody who’s tried to kill you multiple times really a virtue????

So this is 26 episodes at approximately 15 minutes each, but it should’ve finished at 22 episodes because the last arc was this weird rehash of the first phase of this drama.
The Premise is basically after being reborn into a second life, Jiang Xue Ying (FL) decides to change her fate by swapping marriages with her sister, Jiang Yu Er who instigates the whole marriage swapping situation.
She marries Xue Ying (ML) and becomes the Crown Princess, marrying the seemingly "idle" or playboy-like Prince Lu Jun Xing
Within the royal household, she must outmanoeuvre treacherous rivals and the FL is a brilliant strategist whose evil sister makes wrong decisions from beginning to end..
We go through this whole phase of the sister constantly trying to kill her or frame her or humiliate her or everything at once. This happens every other episode so I could probably count about a dozen times the sister has tried to ruin the FL.
The use of comedy music during Jiang Yu Er’s most sadistic moments is jarring to say the least, but I get that it is a stylistic choice that stems from the specific production goals of Chinese short-form mini-drams.
By the end of the weird third arc, the sister had switched sides and they gave her a redemption arc. This is so wrong on so many levels because it doesn’t show virtue it just shows stupidity.
It really bothers me that these specific types of "face-slapping" dramas, the antagonist (the sister) is often stripped of her status as a human being because in the eyes of the writers she is no longer a person; she is a plot device or a "boss" to be defeated.
I guess the logic with these things is: "Because she is evil, any horror that happens to her—or that she inflicts to prove her evil—is not 'real' suffering, but a spectacle."
I don’t like this kind of desensitisation within "revenge-porn" style storytelling where the only thing that matters is the protagonist’s eventual victory.

The Best in This Kind of Genre

Mr. Queen is about Bong-hwan, a modern-day chef whose soul gets trapped in the body of a queen from the Joseon era after an accident. The story follows his journey as he tries to find a way back to his own time while also helping the king defend his throne.

This "soul-trapped in ancient era" trope is quite common, but Mr. Queen handles it exceptionally well. The drama skillfully balances the comedy of Bong-hwan’s awkward interactions and adaptation with the serious drama of palace politics. The plot remains engaging and fits perfectly into 20 episodes without feeling dragged out.

The early episodes of Mr. Queen focus mainly on comedy, and Shin Hae sun absolutely shines in her role as the queen with a man's soul inside her body. Her character’s body language, way of speaking, interactions, and gradual adaptation to the new environment are brilliantly portrayed and genuinely hilarious. I really loved her banter with her two maids, they're really cute together. Since Bong-hwan’s original job was as a chef, cooking scenes appear here and there throughout the first half of the drama although it's not much but it's still fun especially her relationship with head cook at the palace kitchen.

The supporting cast delivers great performances too, and the chemistry between the characters feels natural. My only real complaint is the ending, it could have been written much better. But overall, though, it’s still a very enjoyable watch.

GMMTV, continui a stupirmi

From Low Expectations to Completely Hooked: A Surprisingly Brilliant Drama

I went into this drama with pretty modest expectations, but it completely caught me off guard—in the best way. The very first episode pulled me in and never really let go. The writing is sharp and witty, and the leads deliver their lines with such natural charm that every exchange feels engaging.

What really stood out to me is how layered the characters are. No one feels flat or one-note. Even the antagonists are portrayed with so much nuance that it’s hard to truly hate them—you end up appreciating the performances instead. And the chemistry between the male and female leads? Absolutely delightful. Their dynamic is playful and genuinely funny, their growth feels organic, and the romance unfolds in a way that feels earned rather than forced. It’s the kind of love story you can actually root for.

Hit of a miss........

Yes, I said it was a hit of a miss, meaning it was like throwing a dart that misses the board and hits the wall instead~
Acting was pretty good but I felt it was written in a way to where any and all other supporting actors were not given many chances to showcase anything that would let them shine or help further their own careers. 8 episodes just didn't allow for it. It was a full carry of the two stars, mainly the FL and they were up to the task~
You can tell there was a great deal of effort made with the creation of this script. But I found it overly complex, complicated, vague, and didn't make much sense at times. Revelations and reveals didn't have the oomph factor. Too many possibilities, too many questions left unanswered and too many gaps in the story. It was a mess but I wouldn't give it a hard pass~
The ending was as open as the drama being messy. But one part I really didn't like was the Court verdict at the end.
"Considering the meticulous planning of the murder prior to the incident and the intentional abandonment of the victim in what was clearly a life threatening situation, the defendant must be punished according to the severity of her crimes. Considering these factors, along with other relevant sentencing conditions, the defendant is sentenced to ten years in prison."
All that got was 10 years? REALLY?! Looking at what's currently going on around the world right now and the wording the judge used just prior to reading the verdict, 10 years for a murder was flat out BS and really just pissed me off lol. 🤬 Fictional story I know but dam!

"The story that lost its way"

i am a very big fan of korean thrillers , i have watched so many shows that to crime, thriller shows a lot before. I personally felt this series asked more questions to viewers than answers and it literally lost the pace during ep 4 and 5 it literally overlaps with first few episodes but you will not get clarity on sarah kim story till the end of the series.

I basically think our FL is either illegal immigrant or orphan who is not a korean resident and thus the police can't find her name in their database too. She was facing challenges in her work life at samwol dept store where she works over there and she con so many people in between like 1st person is that loan shark with kidney failure -> for his money , male prostitute boy -> for blackmailing honey traps and spy on that old woman and who is the owner of that samwol dept store where she worked over there , in middle she build a "Budior" as her brand with knockoff of bags business, nox ceo -> she build a partnership with her brand "budior" , got scammed by sarah kim~15 billion won, got to know her products are fake means like not the original one but a knockoff brands she was selling in her "budior" store and last kim mi jeong (knockoff designer) who is a labor under sarah kim and she designs the bags for her , and sarah kim sells in her "budior " for some million won , one day Kim mi jeong knew her designs were selling off the charts in the market so she becomes greedy and dress like sarah kim in sarah kim's burdior party -> and sarah kim kills her and her body was found in the sewer and everybody thought sarah kim was dead and from there she took her identity means now Sarah kim -> changes to kim mi jeong (because she was not having any identity proof of her own in korea) so she changes her names very easily.

Now director literally messed up this plot with unnecessary repeated scenes to confuse the viewers, what is true and what is false ? and on top that we don't know what is her real identity is still mystery for viewers as well as for detectives too and director literally gave us headache with his non linear story to make the viewers to think what is going on in this plot ? It can be about sarah kim story and her timelines too. I seriously think he need to take part 2 to clear off all the questions in this series.

No nonsense entertainment

No nonsense entertainment. That's exactly what you get. Are you annoyed when a moderately good or surprisingly great drama fast pitches a mud pie of nonsense to your face and you're left asking, "what did I do to deserve this?"

Well, you're not gonna get that here.

The show is cozy. It's uplifting. It is a well wrapped gift; pleasant exterior and confidently hinting that something worthwhile is inside. The script has great story progression. The writers don't try too much or too little. You're likely to root for 5 various characters. This is an ensemble cast and they're worth it. Plenty of laughable moments (depending on your laugh tolerance). You probably won't yell or cry with the characters but that's ok.

Is the show perfect? No, it has its flaws. But these flaws are very forgivable.

I love latching onto small moments from TV shows. Sure, we all praise the dramatic deaths or the romantic grand gestures but, chuckling at a expressive character, who improvs a reaction - believing the audience "is not gonna see it"... (but I do)... - is the ideal show watching experience for me. Small moments provide a more personal testimony to my viewing. How did a character double-take? Or how was an object comically passed from friend to friend? Spring Fever was full of small yet memorable moments.

I loved it. Simple it may be. But a treat for the "Happily Ever After" Fans.

Be who you want. Fight for what you love. Be happy.

Of the many things to admire about Unveil Jadewind (Tang Gong Qi An: Zhi Qing Wu Feng Ming) is its breathtaking portrayal of the Tang Dynasty era, brought to life through its intricate costumes and beautifully crafted props.

A near-perfect female-centric detective drama, written by women, centered on women, and driven by women solving their own problems (With the help of secure men, of course.)
There’s a slow-burn romance, but it never becomes the main focus. Which is exactly what I love most about women-centric dramas.

The cast delivered superb performances, and most of them even dubbed their own voices. Kudos to all of them!
Most notably, the female lead was praised for her spot-on dubbing and for doing all of her action scenes herself.

Highly recommended!

Who runs the world? Girls

Female-centric drama with a badass 'cold but kind-at-heart' female lead—I'm in!

A detective drama that focuses more on women's empowerment, gender equality, and life—highlighting the difficulties women faced in that era while still feeling relatable to modern life—is rare. Tang Gong Qi An did exactly that, and it’s truly fascinating.

The plot is plot-twisting, not too heavy or overly complicated. It’s easy to follow, yet it keeps us on edge with its suspense.

The cinematography is really breathtaking.

It’s the first time I’ve found both the opening and ending songs completely unskippable.

Overall, this is the drama we've been waiting for: a smart, badass female lead in a well-written drama with breathtaking cinematography.

This is the first wuxia drama I have watched, and honestly, it was such a good introduction to the genre. While the first quarter of the series progressed a bit slowly, the show became significantly more interesting afterwards. There were several moments when the suspense and tension were executed exceptionally well that I was convinced a major character was about to die, despite multiple episodes still remaining.

I adored the relationship between Ji Bozai and Ming Yi so much. Their flirtation, banter and angst was portrayed incredibly by the actors. JBZ clearly fell first and harder. The way he looks at MY conveyed such devotion and sincerity. Because of this, I found myself constantly wishing that Ming Yi would tell him the truth, as it was evident that his feelings for her would remain unchanged. Their intimacy was portrayed beautifully by the actors, with Episode 19 standing out in particular. That episode, as a whole, was remarkably well done and is undoubtedly my favourite.

Visually, the drama was consistently impressive. While wuxia and historical settings are not typically my preference, I have to give credit where credit is due. The storyline, cinematography, and aesthetics were brilliant.

A love story

Shine on Me" is a love story about a doctor who falls in love at first sight. However, due to a misunderstanding, he resents his first love until the truth is revealed. When he learns the truth, he is left dumbstruck. As time passes, he slowly recovers and eventually begins his love journey again.
The drama contains romantic and innocent moments where both the boy and the girl sometimes look naive and adorable.
I always feel bad for the second lead. He suffers heartbreak without any real fault. The girl hides her true feelings and keeps lying to him. When he discovers that she has hidden many things from him, he is shocked. She says she left the city, but she actually did not. They both love each other, but neither confesses their feelings. Meanwhile, she meets someone else and falls for him. Because of circumstances, she begins to love someone else.

This is Chiaki's movie.

Nodame Cantabile: The Movie I is the part of the live action I haven't watched the corresponding part of the anime. It's more focused on the drama and less of the slackstick, albeit present in sprinklings, that the jdorama/anima is known for. If you're in it expecting the same level of slapstick comedy, manage your expectations. It has bits and pieces of it but not to the extent seen in the TV series. I'm not sure if the corresponding anime version is more serious too.

This film focuses more on how Chiaki prevents a century old orchestra from disbanding. Unfortunately, there's barely any of Megumi and Stresemann.

The purpose of this film is to make Megumi feel that Chiaki is unreachable, which sets the conflict of Film no 2. Megumi has to grow fast or lose Chiaki.

Other than that, the Paris scenes are nice.
