The Potential Was There

I was preparing to give this series a 10 around the 6 episode mark, but then we had 4 poorly executed episodes that can only be described as plot driven. It seemed the plot required the MC to keep letting the main antagonist go, just so he could continue to drive the plot by being a foil to the MC’s plans each and every time. This is like the Batman conundrum, however for a character who supposedly would do anything to save his daughter and is known for killing people mercenary style; is it too much of a leap to let him get rid of the main antagonist the second time? I guess so, or we wouldn’t have had a plot. 🙄 The last 4 episodes were less than stellar compared to the earlier episodes. I did like the last 10-15 minutes or so of the series. It was heartwarming and went back to doing what the series does best - ground itself in the relationship between the main characters.

Not the worst overall but also not the best. Though the potential was there.

Plot twist

Awalnya nonton ini krn lee hee-joon sm oh jung-se krn drama mereka biasanya seru2, dan trnyata bener drama ini juga seseru itu. Para wanita aktingnya juga gak kalah keren. Plot twistnya gak ketebak sampe ending. Alurnya padat dan hampir ga ada jeda buat bernafas suka banget pokoknya cuma musiknya aja yg bikin ganggu krn setiap lompat ke adegan lain tiba2 musiknya berhenti lgsg. Sayangnya, aku berharap mereka happy ending sama pasangan masing-masing, tp nggak tercapai mungkin krn masih ada cela kesalahan dr setiap masing-masing individu kali ya makanya mereka gak dibuat bersatu. Aku berharap ada s2.

A Mystery First. A Romance Second.

The biggest surprise for me wasn’t the romance—it was how invested I became in the mystery.

At just ten episodes of roughly twenty-five minutes each, The Prosecutor’s Proposal tells a surprisingly layered story involving an old murder case, present-day killings, corruption, family secrets, and two men whose lives have been connected for years before they ever meet.

Prosecutor Ju Taeseon promotes investigator Lee Chaeha for all the wrong reasons. Believing Chaeha’s father murdered his own father years earlier, Taeseon intends to make Chaeha’s life miserable as a form of revenge. Instead, he discovers that Chaeha has already spent years carrying the weight of his father’s conviction and the stigma that followed. What begins as revenge slowly becomes something Taeseon never expected.

What makes the romance work is the emotional imbalance between them. Taeseon knows exactly who Chaeha is from the very beginning. Chaeha has no idea who Taeseon really is. As the investigation uncovers more truths, that secret becomes harder and harder to keep, making the relationship feel emotionally earned rather than driven by artificial misunderstandings.

The mystery was every bit as engaging as the romance. I found myself making theories throughout the series, trying to connect clues, hidden relationships, and decades-old secrets. The writers play fair by planting clues early enough that attentive viewers can solve some of the major twists before they’re revealed, which made the investigation especially satisfying.

The pacing is another standout. With such short episodes, there isn’t room for filler, and the story keeps moving without feeling rushed. Every episode either advances the investigation, deepens the characters, or both. I would have been happy if there were more episodes!

And then there’s the chemistry. It’s excellent. The romance grows naturally from the story instead of interrupting it, making both aspects stronger. One particular doorway scene is a perfect example of how effective quiet tension and character choices can be when they’re given room to breathe.

Overall, this is one of the strongest short-format dramas I’ve watched. It’s an engaging mystery, a compelling character drama, and a satisfying romance all at once.

Good balance of romance and drama

With Korea’s tense political situation in the late 70's as its backdrop, this nostalgic coming of age drama, aptly balances innocent romance with heavier drama. This includes the harsh difficulties faced by girls in a very paternalistic society, as our FL is subject to repeated physical and emotional abuse from her parents, her teachers, and school bullies. She somehow manages to shrug it off, bandaging up her bruises, while obsessing about typical teenage concerns like boys. It’s the convergence of her growing friendship with a new girl at school and the forces of political repression that finally cause her to take a stand at school, at home, and even with the two boys in her life.

Despite her relative inexperience at the time, pop idol Bona is quite good here in her first major acting role - showing signs of some of the excellent acting performances she has given us since then in shows like 2521 and Pyramid Game. The rest of the cast is also acceptably good.

The soundtrack is full of the sappiest of 70's love songs, which is quite fitting for the time and place (given the heavy censorship by the dictatorship of anything else). But this does serve as a reminder that in addition to some of the greatest music ever written, the 70's also produced some of the cheesiest shallowest pop of the 20th century.

Though primarily just a good coming of age story, this show also serves as a reminder of how much Korean women have to lose if certain political factions are able to turn back the clock.

A Love that brought Top Form!!!

I wanted to share my thoughts and a review on the drama Top Form.

I was initially hesitant to watch it due to the 18+ restricted rating for violence and profanity, as heavy violence can trigger my PTSD. However, I decided to watch a few episodes and was pleasantly surprised. While I braced myself for the violence, it seemed minimal—leaving me wondering if it was edited out or replaced with more Steamy scenes, if you know you know😉 .

The casting for the two leads was incredible. I have done some research on both Smart and Boom. Regarding Smart, I have many questions about his sudden departure from his agency right as his career was taking off, and I hope he is doing well and succeeding with his outstanding vocal talents. As for Boom, I deeply admire his resilience through difficult times. The chemistry between Smart and Boom felt completely genuine and unacted, and they made a phenomenal on-screen couple.

While I thoroughly enjoyed the exceptional love story and how the characters supported each other against the pressures of their company and the media, certain plot points were frustrating. For instance, it made little sense how a non-relative could take ownership of a deceased person's priceless things. You'll understand it if you watch the drama.
That aside, the emotional delivery was powerful; Boom’s acting genuinely moved me to tears, making him only the second male actor to ever do so.

I am very glad I decided to watch this drama, though the cliffhanger ending was tough. If there is a second part to Top Form, it simply won't be the same without Smart and Boom.
They have truly left a lasting impression on me, and I wish them both the absolute best.

Holy Grail Drama

Having watched this drama the 4th times and I would probably rewatch this again in many more years to come, this drama no doubt sits in my holy Grail list.

Evaluating a drama based on its rewatch value is an interesting concept. Most dramas would not last repeated evaluation and scrutinization. Even harder if the drama is able to evoke the same feelings and tension on a rewatch. This drama does these for me. Big time. I still cry like a baby on some of the scenes. And I watched with glee when the leads finally connect romantically.

Jung So Min is just so so amazing. I remember really loving her in Alchemy of Souls and the major disappointment when her role was switched to a different actress on the second season. She has the most expressive and beautiful eyes. They carry myriad of emotions, and in this drama, straddled happiness and sadness with such talent and conviction.

Each time I watch this drama I noticed new things that I love. The 4th time round I really enjoyed the gentle and kind nature of the journalist who conducted interviews. His questions were so on point.

The Lavender group a major star in this cast too. They are almost as good as my fabulous Reply 1988 family.

Watch this if you have not seen it. I have seen some negative comments about this drama and I am not entirely sure why. It tugs my heartstrings repeatedly and I really wish there are more dramas like this, as well as more of Jung So Min.

Hero!!

The beginning of the drama was very immersive. There were parts that I found boring, along with a few awkward scenes.

I found some of the police investigations a little unrealistic. The way they handled certain cases didn’t really align with how investigations are conducted in real life, but then again, it is fiction. Still, I wish the script had been a bit tighter.

It’s always the non-romance dramas that have me fluttering. Their chemistry was through the roof. I absolutely loved Lomon’s sweet-boy acting.

The ending was a little anticlimactic, but the final scene warmed my heart.

“Once everyone decides to corroborate a lie, it becomes the truth.”

Moonlit Reunion is fun to watch. The story gets better in the middle when the two leads start suspecting each other. They have great chemistry, and both actors did a great job. The mix of romance, mystery, and comedy kept me hooked until the end.
Tian Xiwei did a great job in Moonlit Reunion. She was cute, funny, and emotional when needed. Her acting felt natural, and she had great chemistry with the male lead. She made her character fun to watch from start to finish.

A Heartfelt Story That Tried to Tell Too Many Stories

When I first started Castaway Diva, I expected a light, almost whimsical story about a woman rescued after surviving alone on an island for fifteen years. Instead, I found a drama that tackled child abuse, trauma, family, second chances, dreams, friendship, and choosing happiness after unimaginable hardship. It was far more emotional than I expected.

What I appreciated most was that this wasn't simply a romance. In fact, the romance almost felt secondary. At its heart, this is a story about loyalty, found family, resilience, and the courage to keep moving forward despite everything life has thrown at you. Mok-ha's optimism never felt naïve, it felt earned. After everything she endured, she remained compassionate, hopeful, and remarkably wise beyond her years. She was, without question, the heart of the drama.

Where I think the series stumbled was its identity.

It felt like it wanted to tell two different stories: one about overcoming childhood trauma and escaping an abusive parent, and another about rebuilding a life after spending fifteen years stranded on a deserted island. Either of those ideas could have carried an entire drama on their own. By trying to balance both, while also adding an entertainment industry storyline, they ended up competing for attention. Rather than strengthening each other, they softened the impact of both.

As the series progressed, I also found myself wondering why certain characters were introduced at all. The singer who debuted because Mok-ha missed her opportunity, the young driver, and several industry-related storylines never felt essential to Mok-ha's journey. They weren't bad characters, but they pulled valuable time away from the stories I cared about most.
Ironically, my favourite parts weren't about the music industry at all. They were about family.

The relationship between Ki-ho, his brother, and the father who chose to raise and protect them was one of the strongest aspects of the show. It was a beautiful reminder that family isn't always defined by blood.

The biggest stretch for me wasn't Mok-ha surviving fifteen years on an island, I accepted that as the show's premise. It was the idea that Ki-ho's biological father was somehow able to track him down so easily in a city the size of Seoul. That required more suspension of disbelief than almost anything else in the series.

The ending left me feeling bittersweet. I think I wanted the abusive father to learn something, to experience genuine regret or change. Instead, he remained exactly who he had always been: a man obsessed with control. While that's sadly realistic, it wasn't the emotional closure I had hoped for.

I also found myself wishing the drama had spent less time on Ran-joo's comeback and more time exploring Mok-ha's own journey. By the end, I even had to remind myself that Mok-ha and Ki-ho were in their thirties because emotionally they still felt frozen in the lives they had left behind.

Overall, Castaway Diva is a warm, hopeful drama filled with memorable characters and an uplifting message about choosing happiness despite your past. It occasionally loses focus by trying to tell too many stories at once, but its heart never disappears. While I found the second half noticeably slower, I even nodded off a couple of times during the finale, the emotional core, the family relationships, and Mok-ha herself made it well worth finishing.

Final Rating: ⭐ 8/10

OMG how is this so good!!!

I am relatively quite new to the bl genre and this show was largely my first bl series. I picked it at random without any knowledge or trailer to clue me in, and I was beyond pleasantly surprised! The characters feel so grounded and their chemistry so genuine that I completely binged this entire show in 2 days. Their interactions were so good that I kept replaying them and they even replayed in my mind when I was away from the screen. I spent 3 hours rewatching a 20 minute, basically uncut, raw emotional and relationship development scene between the two characters. 3 HOURS on a 20 MIN scene!!!!! Thats just how good the chemistry and artistry was. I was so pleasantly amazed by this show and the high its given me that I've been looking desperatly for some show to replace its absence with, with no luck yet. In the meantime I might just have to rewatch it again.

enjoyed it more than I expected

It might not have been everyone’s cup of tea; heck, it wasn’t even my cup of tea at first, but I really ended up enjoying Love Scout.
And the main reason why is how it flipped the typical cold workaholic CEO - devoted warm secretary trope on its head, and had the genders reversed. The FL was the headstrong workaholic CEO, and the ML was the single dad secretary who was down bad for her. And she was down bad for him too.
Aside from some of the typical K-drama exaggerated tropes and plot points, it was more of a relatable slice-of-life drama.

Bom demais
