The best of 2026
I started watching the drama bcoz of He Yu, he truly never fail to make me cry on those heavy scenes.Im also starting to fall inlove to Meng Ziyi. Her acting is really on the highest level. its her first drama that I watched. Well, Im thinking of watching all her drama from now on.
Honestly, the cinematography is not that extravagant if I compare it to other Cdrama that I watched. The music is so-so. Then the fact that they used VO for He Yu makes me a little bit dissapointed. But overall I love this.

Not a romance
They should really remove the romance tag, just sayin'! This was a cute show, with no angst. The leads were very sweet together and I enjoyed watching how they solved cases. The costumes and settings were fabulous!
That being said, there was A LOT of overacting in this, which tended to move this into "farce". I could have done without that.

Fun and easy to watch!
This show for me feels like a sitcom, unhinged over the top comedy, fun interactions between the characters with different scenarios in none chronologically arranged episodes. If follows the story of an idol turned actor who faces critism for his acting, he auditions for a role in a musical theatre troupe to improve on his skills.
The story follows his growth and interactions with the rest of the members as well as his romance with the director who he actually has incredible chemistry with.
like I said it's a fun show, no groundbreaking masterpiece but in its category it's interesting.

Looks Sparkly But Lacks Substance
Positive Points1. The cinematography, direction, color grading and editing were top-notch. A big thanks to the screenwriter for not misleading the viewers, as quite a few dramas did in the name of drama adaptation this year. The screenwriter changed quite a few things, but the main essence of the story was not destroyed. Though I have quite a few complaints with a few things, this adaptation can truly be called the drama adaptation of the original novel.
2. The cast was good, and quite a few known faces were there. Though I was not quite satisfied with Meng Zi Yi's acting, the rest of the cast did well. He Yu was the perfect guy to play the pretending-to-be-sickly, harmless, flirty, but actually scheming and manipulating everything from behind-the-scenes type crown prince. I can not name all, but quite a few of the supporting cast have got my attention, especially the actress playing Bu Shu Lin. She is the only woman I believed was a man.
3. The pacing of the story was good, and though it felt a bit dragged towards the middle, it ended well.
Negative Points
1. ML has been toned down a lot, and he is mostly shown as a love-brained, which is ridiculous. In a female-centric drama, what is this obsession with the screenwriter to show the ML as an incompetent, love-brained guy? Why can he not be sane as well just because he fell in love? I am not asking the writer to give too much focus on the ML, but at least give something to the viewers so that the ML to look incompetent. That chasing track of Bu Shulin was such a nice well-written track that gave everyone a spot to shine, but it was toned down a lot. Bu Shulin, Crown Prince, and the King and all other princes were all given their own stage. But the screenwriter had to make everything about the FL. Xiao Huayong is a complex character. He is not a love-obsessed guy at all. He loves the FL and yet did not lose his ruthlessness, and neither his vision as the future emperor. He knows where to control and where to use his soft-heartedness. It was such an elaborately written track but the drama toned down both Bu Shulin's capability, Xiao Huayong's testing Bu Shulin's capability, and saving her from the emperor and Shen Xihe's growing softness and the ML's mixed feelings about it. He was drawn to Shen Xihe's character but he neither turned soft-hearted nor did he lose his senses in love. Such a good thing was downplayed and ruined his character for me. ML being portrayed as a capable leader but hardly doing anything all the time and acting as a drama queen is quite inconsistent. As much as I loved his drama-queen sickly prince acting it would have been amazing to see him scheming too. The lack of it has totally affected his character for me.
2. That dividing the bed with the bell also did not make sense, considering Shen Xihe's character. She is decisive and emotionless right from the start. Once she makes a decision, she does not get back from her decision, nor does she make the other party (ML) incur a loss. She believes in trade, and it was normal to want a child that will help her secure her position as the mother of the future king, as her husband won't live long. So this useless bell thing does not make any sense to be honest. It just dragged the plot for me. Her being in love with her husband had to happen naturally. But going all the ways and dragging it out feels rather forced to me. There was no chemistry between the actors. That spark was missing in their love story, and I failed to connect to their story. Rather, I felt the 2nd ML & 2nd FL had better chemistry.
3. There is not much political scheming in this drama. I thought it would be a drama about succession struggle, and I was highly disappointed. The joint scheming between the ML & FL was completely left out in the drama, and their relationship felt quite boring to me. Their joint scheming was something I was looking forward in the drama. But all I got to see was the ML suddenly devoting his life for the FL and spending all the time in wooing her and the FL playing all hard to get. She did not feel like a character who was cold-hearted and was maintaining rationality for her well-being due to the representation of her character in the drama. What was the FL doing in the middle of a battlefield without battle gear and just came to shoot a single arrow. How ridiculous. I know it was to create a romantic atmosphere, but it didnot make any sense to me.
4. Meng Zi Yi is decent only in serious scenes but her expressions are very limited in other scenes. Especially since she has started to warm up to her husband, her expression was not up to par and sometimes even felt a bit cringy. Lately, all of her roles seem similar and in many of her future dramas she is likely playing a similar role. She at least needs to learn how to perfect acting for such roles since she is playing similar roles for quite some time.
5. Left too many things unexplained. Instead of the leads' joint scheming and cooperation, most of the time was spent on the ML wooing the FL. Why no mention of how the ML faked his death and how he reacted knowing the biggest truth of his life about who poisoned him?
Overall, if you do not like political scheming but rather cheesy romance, then you might like it. Otherwise, you would be disappointed like me.

The episode is filled with hilarious scenes, especially those featuring Mr. Ma, who adds so much fun and charm to the story.
Ms. Cheon remains impeccable as always, sharp, straightforward, and effortlessly captivating in every scene.

completamente apaixonada
Já tinha me encantado pela atriz no Speed and Love, mas agora estou ainda mais apaixonada pelo trabalho dela. Aquímica com o protagonista é ótima!

Recycled tropes stitched together badly
the only good thing about this drama was the cast and even the cast could not save this drama. 🤦♀️-> Leads have 0 chemistry and the plot is a collection of old tropes that aren't even cohesively written together.
-> it just feels like a bunch of different things happening.
this was my most anticipated drama. such a disappointment 😔😔😔

One of the best
Everything about this drama was perfect. What caught my eye is like the colour grading in this drama. Its so amazing. There are some little flaws. But i think everyone did really good job even actors. If i had to pick one drama watch it for the first time i would choose this drama. Its so good. As music lover. The song choice which is The story by conan gray really did match the whole story.Cet avis était-il utile?
Healing
This was such a healing drama to watch.I appreciate how romance wasn’t the focal point of the story.
I love how specific characters storyline hit vital spots in the way the flow of the story goes. It has lessons imbued on each storyline and most if not all of the lessons focus on one thing, facing the music, never giving up, and learning to rely on others for help. I also love how all miscommunications were maturely resolved by the main characters. While some conflict took longer to resolve- it was mainly because these happened to the soccer team members and it was needed to clear up their main stories.
Speaking of team, I especially love the bond between the boys of the soccer team. I appreciate how tight knit they became.
I wish the ending was expanded some more. But overall, it was still beautifully written.

A disaster......wasting time
I don't like it. Min Shi Woo's unfounded and exaggerated jealousy, I din not like him from the begining...I don't understand these jealousies and controlling behaviors of men who like a woman but don't tell her... but already pretend they're in a relationship and control everything, and act like a stupid teenager ... wtfthe lack of respect FL has for the two of them, she treated Luis so bad... there's no charm to this drama... a huge disappointment
It a Miracle that I watched 10 episodes. And heard that at the end she does not choose any guy. Fuck offf

Great Story but low effort
First of all its not bad drama. The story is really good. But there are some things that they couldve done better.1. The language - if the put little more effort. On that side this show couldve been even better. None of them speak each others language. It makes no sense like in the story he been in korea for 8 years yet he didnt speak single korean word.
2. The romance - It didnt felt like they were in love. They seemed more like best friends. Rather than lovers.
The story itself was good. Actors also good. But something was missing. It didnt feel clean it felt sloppy. Yet i recommend watching this drama bcz i ve seen worse this drama actually watchable.

Best BL drama released in 2026 so far
I think we need more serious productions like this. With a very cinematic style, with an emphasis on symbolism, on atmosphere, on moments where words aren't necessary and the actors express their emotions through their eyes. A very sad drama at times, which encourages reflection and deep thinking (especially for believers or ex-believers). The main two characters played their roles incredibly, 10/10. Their actions, personalities, and thoughts were truly amazingly captured. There was this incredible moment in one episode where there was a moment of sexual tension that I've never seen in any other production so well. My only negative point is that there are so few episodes and I think it would be nice if there were more of them, especially since there was a huge time skip in the drama. Fourth perfectly played the role of the "believing" boy who questions his faith. Gemini, on the other hand, perfectly played the role of the "bad boy." Every facial expression carried meaning, every look conveyed emotion. The casting couldn't have been better.Cet avis était-il utile?
Too long for what it's worth
Well the third try was not the charm. giving up at episode 34. It was my final and very last try into watching this show. I knew these 50 episodes K dramas have a tendency to drag too much... and I was psychologically prepared for it... But I guess my tolerance level is no longer what it used to be. 50 episodes is ok when episodes are 45mn long when it's 1h or more, you really feel the minutes passing especially on these old shows. I know they're not good to binge... but even not binging It still dragged too much.. I think they did a great job with the love story.... but the whole business plot + 2FL and the brother and sister and law are just too annoying for me to give this show more of my time.Around where I gave up, the only thing keeping both the FL and ML apart is basically the whole business/redemption aspect of the FL... But I'm so NOT interested in the business thing, I'm throwing the towel...
And definitely giving up on K dramas of 50 episodes for life. The problem is not that the stories aren't interesting... but rather that they drag them out for no good reason. Since I don't list shows I dropped my rating will only on this review, but a 6 seems appropriate mostly for these reasons:
1. The main story is dragged down by its length.
2. The business plot takes too much space from the middle of the series and it gets worse from episode 30 and on... But err... initially we're watching this for the romance aren't we?
3. Too many annoying characters who don't get their due punishment or something akin to a slap on the wrist by the end of the series (yes I spoiled myself so I know exactly what happens).
4. I utterly despise Seo Ri's character, cosplaying as the victim. The FL was not an angel to you for sure but you dug your own grave and happily jumped into it. Don't blame others for your self-caused misery. She gets no consequence and nobody blames her for the cheating thing... As if the ML went out of his way to pursue her. He sure was a douchebag, but she was the one who lit the fire not him.
5. The sister in law was nasty piece of work and yet she gets NO CONSEQUENCES from her actions except losing her husband who btw is a cheater ( which they showed very early in the series and thought WE forgot), a murderer, a manipulator and kept on belittling her. I'm not really sure in what way losing that type of husband is considered a punishment, but I guess the writers thought it was.
6. Motivation for cheating: The loss of a child giving a hard time to the couple rang pretty true... but the ML who is supposed to be this morally upright person cheating with a girl at least 15 years younger? Nah.
7. Didn't give a fudge about the twin sister and her love story with the Doctor. Both were just annoying. If it wasn't for the little girl I would have skipped all of their scenes.
Anyway, I TRIED. I tried in 2015 when the drama aired. I tried I think around 2020/2021 and now 2026. So CLOSE to the end... But then... as much as I am a Completist at heart... One has to wonder WHY should you force yourself to finish a show you've been struggling with for WEEKS.
Am I gonna win a medal for that?
HELL NO!
Time to get rid of this nasty habit of wanting to finish at all cost shows that just don't deserve it. The one redeeùing quality was the main love story between the FL and the ML.
Yes he cheated... but I think they handled his redemption ark pretty well.
IRL if it was me though, NO WAY IN HELL. If he truly loved his wife as much as the show had him being portrayed, the possibility of cheating was NIL. NIL.
But hey this is a drama... so I'm supposed to believe that this could happen... So Ok I guess.

absolute banger
this drama was honestly so lovely, down to the casting and acting, music choices were superiorreally enjoyed that special episode
//spoiler
i do think there is an issue with the pacing with the last few eps, because if i didn't read the novel then huayong coming is just so confusing, they make no mention that he's still technically alive and recuperating, would've liked to see more to that like how his body just disappears and then he is back 4 years later 😭😭 but overall one of the best this year

Damn...like damn, speechless, brilliant watch.
Looking for a good show in this "genre", don't think twice, just go for it. You won't regret. Thoroughly impressed by the acting, the main plot, tone of the show, each episode is engaging. Overall one of those shows which comes once in a while, ticks every box and doesn't leave you feeling off.Made an account just to review btw.
