Masterclass Visuals, But Confusing and Messy story.

You had me at the first. I thought i set my bar too low, because the first couple of episodes made it seem like by the end of this drama, i'm gonna be coming out amazed, but nope.

The story, even though confusing and messy in general, was pretty manageable to follow with its mystery/comedy setup at first. It was really serious and dark at the beginning, but comedy kept throwing me out of it. I know comedy serves as the balance to the dark vibes, but here i roll my eyes out every time. Most of the characters are very serious, then suddenly one of the characters would try to be funny. Then halfway through the story, they toned down the comedy, and it started leaning more into Romance/Drama, which is actually good, if only they managed to do it cleanly so that it wasn't such a mess of a story. This is probably the first fantasy cdrama for me where the time-travel was handled decently, because time-travel can be very tricky. Here it made sense to me because it's the consequences of their actions. It wasn't just time-travel for the sake of it.

The only romance plot I probably appreciated was Wu Shi Guang and Wu Wang Yan, where their romance was handled well. The intention and execution were clear the moment they started going into their pairing. They got good chemistry as well. It's just disappointing that Shi Guang went from Main Lead vibes to becoming sidelined.

Ji Ling and Lu Wuyi, although their romance was cute and innocent, it just wasn't for me. I started getting into their romance once they got out of the time-travel arc, when it started getting dramatic. Ji Ling was the character i'm talking about in the beginning, who's breaking my immersion because of his comedy parts. Like, sorry, it just wasn't hitting me. You literally have You Chi, which is a good example of a funny character without trying to overdo it.

The last time i probably saw clean VFX in a cdrama was probably 'The Longest Promise', but this one takes the crown now, because its VFX is really good. It's probably one of the best fantasy shows where the visuals had a lot of care and attention. One thing that's disappointing though, is the scaling presentation of its powers. At the beginning, it was good because it matched the level of the characters, but when they started introducing literal high-level characters with lots of hype behind them, you see them fight, all you get are fart-level attacks. I don't wanna spoil, but if you're someone who watches anime, you'll know what i mean when it comes to the presentation of powers. Like, come on, i can see you have a high budget just from the visuals, but you can't seem to match that when it comes to the VFX.

The acting is good. I have no qualms about that. In the beginning, it didn't quite pique me, but when it started leaning into the more dramatic side, that's where the acting started shining. Chemistry between the characters started to flow as well. I don't know if it's just me, but the talking is dubbed, right? Because some of these characters, whenever they talk, i would notice their mouths are not even that open, but their voices are loud. I am very amazed by Tian Jia Rui's duality though, it's my first time seeing him, but he already showed how good his acting can be. Ju Jing Yi is probably one of the actresses I kept hearing everywhere. It's my first time seeing her. She's a good actress, like she has a very doll-like acting style which sometimes can be very uncanny. I might check out Joseph Zeng more in the future, because he caught my attention. Chen Du Ling, i already saw her in a few dramas, but i'm not really a fan. She's a good actress though.

“Baby, I’m crush on ya...” That’s literally me right now, because I love Boss and Noeul. They’re two of my absolute favorite actors and they never fail to deliver.

I honestly loved the show! It was so cool seeing them take on roles that are totally different from what we’re used to seeing, especially Boss in such a hilarious, comedic role. Playing an over-the-top character is always risky, but Boss absolutely nailed it. Noeul brought his A-game, too. It’s awesome watching them expand their acting range. Their chemistry is always so natural, genuine, and believable, which makes the characters even more captivating.

I also loved Fu’s dynamic with his brothers. Can’t wait to see their stories play out, especially Tee Lek and Jeab. This is one of those rare series where the entire cast won me over. Also, can we take a second to appreciate how gorgeous Noh Phouluang is?! 😍😍 And huge props to Mote Pramote as Ryan. “Why am I here... just to suffer?”🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

It’s such a light, feel-good show, perfect for unwinding and having a good time. Highly recommend!

One Person Drama

Why is it that it always turns into a 1 person drama - in this case 1 girl has numerous guys liking her - all heads over heels for her, each in their own way. I’M not blaming her for that as she must have something they really see in her, but what I don’t be like is the way the guys get strung along too long to the point of ruining it for the other girls who had connections that may have worked out otherwise

One thing I noticed she had mentioned herself, while thinking which one would make a better partner in life, that she takes her dad’s opinion and what he wants for her as the best advice (or some similar statement). She should have cut one off right then so the other girls could finish pursuing the ones they liked. Now I ask - would he want the guy that treats her with utmost respect, mature, fun, stable, and takes care of her at every turn like opening her doors and sharing really nice sincere feelings on their last talk, including noticing her nice dress she has on today or someone that wavered previous, a little less mature, likes her a-lot but at the same time on their final talk she mentions his new hairstyle and he talks about himself and how he combed it forward that day but then never mentions how pretty she looks or comments on the new dress she has on today? So it goes all the way to end - one person drama.

a masterpiece held back by duration.

ok first of all, give the cast, all of them, an award! the acting???? not just the main characters but the supporting characters too!! all of them nailed it!

second of all, more. we need more! more of them and more of the story!! those 10 episodes with 20-30 mins duration isn't enough at all! oh how i yearn for them to make longer k-bl!

the story literally has so much potential? i mean *cough* killer's son x victim's son??? not even a mainstream k-drama has this kind of trope!! interesting trope, great story, lots of plot twist and yet so little duration.

the ending is too abrupt for me. so many things left unexplained and so many jumps on the story too (hence the 8.5 rating)... ah seriously if only they have 16 episodes with 1hr duration.. could've been the best of the best ngl. not saying this isn't good, it's good already, but it could get waaaayyy better ykwim.

the chemistry is top notch! it's a waste for them just to play one drama together! give them MORE! 5 MORE PLEASE!

oh! the only minus in this drama is that fuckass ai opening. could've got a 10 but nope! minus 0.5 for that ai slop.

Pain

When you measure your week starting on a Thursday, you know you're hooked. When you spend the entire episode listening to every syllable dropping from his lips, you know who is the star. When you immediately want to do a complete re-watch to see if you missed a beat, you know it deserves the praise it received.

Chaeha, the clueless assistant and Ju, the bitter prosecutor, gave a rewarding story. Each week little variables were revealed to bring to light the mystery of their shared past. Ju's initial disdain replaced with protective love. The gradual change believable by the end. Chaeha remaining innocently clueless, with no survival instincts whatsoever, struggles to stay one step ahead of the mole.

I'm going to pretend that Chaeha in the final episode got Song to pause while killing him to give him his life story as it was part of a plan. I'm going to pretend love conquers all as the man that he slept with, who kept everything hidden, is easily accepted back into his arms after crying brokenly one night and two days of fever after. I'm going to pretend that after receiving the call at the last minute to visit the office late at night, he thought his miniature frame was invincible and he simply forgot to call Ju. Yup, I'm good at pretending.

Moving on, Chaeha and Ju's first nc captured the raw anger, bitterness and hunger he felt for him. Still in that moment, the cruelty was accepted as Chaeha was already deep into him.

Plot was good not great. It did keep a momentum that delivered but aforementioned issues were it's weaknesses. Song never looked trustworthy so easily outed as the son. As much as you love someone, there would be residual bitterness from their initial meeting and the duplicity before he accepts him back. Three days and Chaeha was back by his side. Tak used as an obvious eye rolling ploy to make it happen. Chaeha body always seemed to get in the way of a knife, and yet, with the body structure that clearly missed meals, always seems to survive with a smile. Ju is not harmed.

What Ju is, is the star. His role, facial nuances and sarcasm kept the series going. His emotional breakdowns, razor tongue and critical mind secured the series rating. Actor Yoon Sik, delivered. This is not to say Si Woo didn't do well, but dimmed next to him.

The ending? Hmmmm. That’s another no for me. Was it to signify that all the darkness was over and they were over the brutality in bed and it was all sunshine and happiness. Let alone Ju watching the news on his phone. No.

Suggestion: How about Ju is sitting in a bar waiting, the news comes on, he glances at it and looks back in time to see Chaeha enter. He goes to meet him and they exit onto the street while continuing to banter in their usual way. He throws in - lets have a date and Chaeha gives his usual stunned, but this time, flippant answer. Making the prosecutor work for it. They continue chatting as they proceed to the next crime scene. It's called continuity. Some directors should try it instead of that blindingly obvious too sweet ending. That's not the type of couple they are.

Probably, I needed more action scenes for it to really sizzle for me but overall it was a good watch.

A great start only to be foiled by a disappointing finish

This series started with the promising premise of a love triangle that kept pulling viewers back and forth for most of its run. Woven into that were political intrigues, betrayals, and plenty of deaths. Like many Chinese dramas, it features beautiful songs that elevate key romantic and emotional moments. However, it also falls into one of the genre’s most common pitfalls: the excessive and repetitive use of music during endless flashbacks. Had the flashbacks been trimmed, the series could easily have been shortened by two episodes without losing anything of value.

The costumes and production values were top-notch, as expected from a cast of this caliber. The supporting actors performed their roles beautifully, and the opening battle sequences were both dramatic and visually impressive.

The storytelling maintained a steady pace that kept me looking forward to each new episode as the twists and revelations unfolded. Even so, it was always apparent that the protagonist remained in control of the situation. After all, he is Crown Prince Wendi. Part of me wished he had ultimately claimed the throne, considering how many people sacrificed their lives to keep him alive. Instead, the writers chose the more heroic, selfless ending, placing love above power. Since his wife clearly despised palace life, it was obvious where the story was headed. From that point on, the ending became fairly predictable, although the continued twists were enough to keep the story engaging.

That said, the series is not without its flaws. The biggest issue is the premise that the son of a Grand Tutor, disguised as a prince, ultimately becomes Emperor or perhaps merely serves as Regent for life. Does the reigning Emperor really have no other relatives with a legitimate claim to the throne? If not, isn’t this technically a coup?

I was also puzzled by the decision to have Xiao Wuxi join the Eagle King when we eventually learn it was all an elaborate ruse. The amount of suffering inflicted on his own soldiers and even his wife simply to make the deception convincing felt unnecessarily extreme. This is where I think the writers became too enamored with constantly misdirecting the audience instead of telling a more believable story.

Then there are the battle tactics. There were so many episodes on the three ore mines used to develop the fireballs only to have a very brief moment near the end. And why unleash devastating fireballs while your own army is fighting on the same battlefield? The collateral damage would have been enormous. If they possessed that kind of firepower, why not trap the enemy in a valley and rain destruction from a safe distance?

This is classic C-drama writing: an excellent setup with compelling characters and strong momentum, only for the final act to lose its way. I’m sure many viewers will disagree because we naturally want our heroes and lovers to follow the path our hearts prefer rather than the one common sense dictates. After all, that’s part of the fantasy these dramas are meant to deliver.

How about we get miserable together? That's my proposal to you!

This drama stands out as a compelling and intense BL that defies the typical cookie-cutter K-BL genre expectations. Far from a conventional love story, it dug deeper into the dark, more complex facets of relationships, marked by toxicity, possessiveness, and highly flawed characters. The raw and unfiltered chemistry of the MLs truly baffled me with their portrayal of intense scenes, which created a gripping narrative that hooked me with its emotional tension and psychological depth.

The power dynamics of Taeson and Chaeha and their chemistry was electrifying! When I started binging, their first meeting did seem memorable to me, but they continued to grow on me in a way that I was unable to move on from how much of a strong presence they hold, especially Taeson. He's curt and emotionless outside, but inside he holds a firing fuel of revenge. He couldn't be emotional as his job required him to be ruthless, but Chaeha's very first introduction shook his core again because both of them hold a special secret that can either break or hold them together. Taeson was like that type of person who would want to own his own person; in a way he could emotionally, mentally and physically dominate just to satisfy his anger. As compared to him, Chaeha had a very submissive, pushover/doormat character with a frail and delicate physique. He was frail and didn't really physically defend himself in any situation, rather got cursed and hurt a lot. A perfect toy for Taeson.

The production quality is remarkably better but very low budgeted. Full of AI scenes that made me roll my eyes. But the storytelling with a polished visual style complimented the intense performances of all the characters. The MLs were awesome but the psycho lady, her lover and their product...the actors delivered grounded, nuanced portrayals that brought authenticity to their conflicted roles. It made the characters' struggles and passions feel palpably real. No wonder I got goosebumps whenever they were on-screen.

What makes this drama particularly intriguing was its willingness to explore uncomfortable themes and imperfect love. It did mentally challenge me to engage with the messy yet pitiful realities of human connection rather than idealized romance, unlike other shallow BLs out there. This bold approach in itself is praiseworthy


But surely and obviously it was not without flaws.
-As I mentioned earlier, persistent usage of AI in the kdrama industry is bothering me. The scene at the end was odd and obvious AI edited. It looked so fake.
-Chaeha's character is too dumb and sloppy for a ex-police officer and current investigator.
-I could easily guess the killer. That was sloppy.
-ending was sooo sudden and rushed. Felt like they ended abruptly.

What I absolutely loved other than the MLs was the OSTs! Three songs, all of them are bop! How can this be possible?! I love love love them. They set the mood for intense and suspenseful scenes, which indeed elevated the rating for me. The OSTs get a +1 rating from me.

In summary, "The Prosecutor's Proposal" is a must-watch for those seeking a BL series that pushes boundaries, offering a dark, emotionally charged experience that lingers long after the credits roll.

So it goes

OK, I'm gonna be understanding and still critical. I can't help but feel that the last few minutes of the ending just showed what had been on my mind while watching it most of the time. This presented itself—in the words of many people—as a high- or even standard-quality mainstream/Netflix series, while there were such obvious fuck-ups that it just wasn't (though 90% of the time they were well hidden).

We'd all probably prefer almost any setting over the main leads standing in the middle of nowhere with some fucked-up computer-generated thing in the background, but at the same time, I can't help thinking that this is the result of everyone forcing everyone to avoid ambiguity and uncertainty by expressing everything explicitly. And because no one—or rather, most of us—doesn't even know what to do with that, they opt for a boring, explicit confession of love by the boring sea. Everything has to be dripping with romance, even if it doesn't excuse the main lead's previous behaviour at all or make anything easier for anyone; it just looks saccharine.

I think it truly was a highly above-average series, but if you want to make it exceptional, you need to:

a) Cut the AI/CGI sea thing altogether, along with the confession. Do something normal and in character for Tae.

b) No strange, idiotic moments like this: revelation – 2 minutes of nothing – then Ju Tae Seon childishly jumps to cover Chae's ears to "unhear" what was told ages ago. At some moments, Chae's overly submissive behaviour was just tiring. He's not only submissive, but also highly intelligent and observant, so... do something with it, please? We love emancipated submissives too, you know?

c) Pay more attention to the pacing at the END and the BEGGINING. If you keep it up in the middle, that's a great bonus, but yeah... well.

We are far more forgiving of poor production quality than of poor creative choices.

Aside from these complaints: good job with this one. Hope you get even better with the next three projects. Can't wait.

Geçmişin Gölgesinde Filizlenen Bir Aşk: The Prosecutor’s Proposal

The Prosecutor’s Proposal açıkçası başlarken bu kadar içine çekeceğini düşünmediğim BL’lerden biri oldu. Ben daha çok savcı–araştırmacı ilişkisi, biraz polisiye, araya da romantizm serpiştirilmiş bir şey bekliyordum ama dizi ilerledikçe olayın altından travmalar, geçmişte yaşananlar, cinayetler, saklanan gerçekler derken bambaşka şeyler çıkmaya başladı. Bir yandan “Şimdi bunların arasındaki ilişki ne olacak?” diye beklerken diğer yandan “Bir dakika, bu cinayetin arkasında aslında kim var?” diye teori üretirken buldum kendimi sjdjdj.

Lee Chaeha’ya zaten en başından üzülmemek mümkün değil. Adam resmen kendi işlemediği bir suçun cezasını bütün hayatı boyunca çekmiş. Sırf babası yüzünden “katilin oğlu” damgası yemiş, çocukken zorbalığa uğramış, ailesinin içinde bile şiddet görmüş ve bütün bunlara rağmen bir şekilde hayatını toparlayıp savcılıkta araştırmacı olmayı başarmış. Chaeha’nın en üzücü tarafı da yaşadığı şeyleri o kadar içine atmış olması ki bazen normal davranmaya çalışırken bile aslında ne kadar kırılmış olduğunu hissediyorsunuz. Ben sürekli “Şu çocuğu bir rahat bırakın artık ya 😭” modundaydım.

Sonra Ju Taeseon geliyor… Başlarda klasik soğuk, mesafeli, ne düşündüğünü asla anlayamadığımız karakterlerden biri sandım. Ama Chaeha’yla birlikte çalışmaya başladıktan sonra o duvarların yavaş yavaş çatlamasını izlemek aşırı hoşuma gitti. Özellikle yıllardır peşinde olduğu cinayet davasını araştırırken Chaeha’yı kendi partneri olarak seçmesiyle ikisinin arasındaki dinamik tamamen değişiyor. Çünkü artık sadece aynı yerde çalışan iki insan değiller; birlikte geçmişin içine giriyorlar ve ortaya çıkan her yeni gerçek Chaeha’yı doğrudan etkiliyor.

Bir de Taeseon’un Chaeha’ya karşı korumacı olmaya başladığı anlar var ki… Ben bittim sjdjdj. Adam ağzıyla hiçbir şey söylemese bile hareketlerinden her şey belli oluyor. Chaeha tehlikeye girdiğinde verdiği tepkiler, sürekli onu gözünün önünde tutmaya çalışması, başına bir şey gelmesinden korkması… Bir noktadan sonra “Tamam Taeseon, sen çoktan düştün ama haberin yok galiba” diye izliyorsunuz. 😂

En sevdiğim şeylerden biri de romantizmin hemen başlamamasıydı. İkisi tanıştı, iki bölüm sonra aşık oldular gibi bir durum yok. Önce birbirlerine güvenmeyi öğreniyorlar. Birlikte çalışıyorlar, birbirlerini koruyorlar, tartışıyorlar, geçmişlerini öğreniyorlar ve aralarındaki bağ fark ettirmeden büyüyor. Özellikle bazı bakışmaları var… Yani ortada doğru düzgün romantik bir cümle bile yok ama insan ekrana bakıp “SİZ ŞU AN NE YAPIYORSUNUZ?” diye kalıyor. 😭 Bazen gerçekten bir bakış, on tane öpüşme sahnesinden daha etkili olabiliyor.

Polisiye tarafını da bayağı sevdim çünkü sadece BL olsun diye arka plana rastgele bir cinayet dosyası koymamışlar. O dava Chaeha’nın geçmişiyle bağlantılı hâle geldikçe işler iyice karışıyor. Babası hakkında yıllardır bildiği şeylerin aslında göründüğü kadar basit olmadığını fark etmeye başlıyor ve geçmişte yaşanan olayların parçaları tek tek birleşiyor. Her yeni bilgi geldiğinde benim kafamda başka bir teori oluştu. Bir ara herkesten şüphelenmeye başladım zaten. 😂

Ama dizinin beni en çok etkileyen tarafı Chaeha’nın yaşadığı şeylerin altında yatan o soru oldu: Bir insan gerçekten ailesinin yaptığı şeylerin bedelini ödemek zorunda mı?

Chaeha hayatı boyunca tam olarak bunu yaşamış. İnsanlar ona baktıklarında Lee Chaeha’yı görmemişler; sürekli “o adamın oğlunu” görmüşler. Halbuki çocukken yaşanan hiçbir şeyde onun suçu yok. Buna rağmen bütün hayatını başkasının günahlarının gölgesinde geçirmek zorunda kalmış. Taeseon’un farkı da burada ortaya çıkıyor bence. Çünkü zaman geçtikçe Chaeha’ya geçmişinin bir uzantısıymış gibi değil, gerçekten Chaeha olarak bakmaya başlıyor.

Bence aşklarının güzel tarafı da tam olarak bu.

Taeseon gelip Chaeha’nın bütün yaralarını sihirli bir şekilde iyileştirmiyor. Chaeha da bir anda geçmişini unutup mutlu olmuyor. Ama ilk kez biri onun yanında duruyor. Onu yargılamadan dinliyor, koruyor ve geçmişte kimlerin ne yaptığına bakmadan onu olduğu kişi olarak kabul ediyor. Benim için ilişkilerinin romantik kısmından çok bu tarafı etkileyiciydi.

Sonlara doğru ise olaylar iyice ağırlaşıyor. Cinayet davasıyla ilgili gerçekler ortaya çıktıkça Chaeha’nın bütün hayatı boyunca doğru sandığı şeyler birer birer yıkılıyor. Özellikle babasıyla ve geçmişte yaşananlarla ilgili öğrendikleri gerçekten kolay kaldırılabilecek şeyler değil. Bir insan düşünün; yıllarca belli bir gerçekle yaşamış, kendinden bile utanmış, insanların nefretini taşımış… Sonra bir gün aslında olayların sandığından çok daha farklı olduğunu öğreniyor.

Chaeha’nın o noktadaki hâli beni gerçekten üzdü.

Çünkü gerçeği öğrenmek her zaman insanı rahatlatmıyor. Bazen tam tersine, “Ben bütün bu yılları neden böyle yaşadım?” sorusunu beraberinde getiriyor. Chaeha’da da tam olarak bunu hissettim. Gerçeklerin ortaya çıkması onun için bir yandan özgürleşmek gibi ama diğer yandan kaybettiği yılların geri gelmeyeceğini bilmek çok acı.

Ve Taeseon’un bütün bunların ortasında Chaeha’yı yalnız bırakmaması… İşte beni asıl orada aldılar. 😭

Başlarda duygularını göstermeyen o adamın Chaeha söz konusu olduğunda artık geri duramaması, yanında kalması ve hislerini daha açık göstermeye başlaması çok güzel bir karakter gelişimiydi. İkisinin ilişkisi sonunda “Acaba birbirlerinden hoşlanıyorlar mı?” seviyesinden çıkıp gerçekten birbirlerini seçtikleri bir noktaya geliyor.

Sonu da bence tam bu diziye yakışacak şekildeydi. Her şeyi aşırı pembe bir mutlulukla kapatmak yerine geçmişteki olayların sonuçlarını gösterip karakterlere yeni bir başlangıç veriyor. Cinayet davasındaki gerçeklerin ortaya çıkmasıyla adalet tarafında bir kapanış yaşanırken Chaeha da hayatı boyunca taşıdığı yükten biraz olsun kurtuluyor. En güzeli ise artık bunu tek başına yapmak zorunda olmaması.

Ben böyle yavaş yavaş gelişen ilişkileri zaten çok seviyorum ama burada polisiye tarafıyla birleşince ayrı bir hoşuma gitti. Sadece “iki yakışıklı adam birbirine aşık oluyor” izlemiyoruz; birbirlerinin en karanlık taraflarını gören, geçmişlerini öğrenen ve bütün bunlardan sonra yine de birbirlerinin yanında kalmayı seçen iki insan izliyoruz.

Bazı bölümlerde “Hadi ama biraz ilerleyin artık 😭” dediğim oldu, yalan söylemeyeceğim. Romantizm konusunda sabırsız biriyseniz ekranı dürtmek isteyebilirsiniz sjdjdj. Ama sonradan düşününce o yavaşlık ilişkilerini daha anlamlı yapmış. Çünkü sonunda birbirlerine yaklaştıklarında bunun nereden geldiğini biliyoruz. O güvenin nasıl oluştuğunu başından beri izledik.

The Prosecutor’s Proposal benim için romantizmden çok güvenmek, geçmişle yüzleşmek ve insanın kendisine ait olmayan bir suçluluk duygusundan kurtulmaya çalışmasıyla ilgili bir BL oldu. Chaeha’ya sarılmak, Taeseon’a da arada “Kardeşim konuş artık, bakmakla olmuyor” diye bağırmak istedim. 😂 Ama ikisinin arasındaki o sessiz çekimi, korumacı anları ve birlikte geçirdikleri süreçleri gerçekten sevdim.

Hele Taeseon’un Chaeha’ya bakışları…

Arkadaşım, sen savcısın. Biraz profesyonel ol lütfen. Biz her şeyi görüyoruz. 😭😂

Os seres humanos podem ser piores do que aqueles que já se foram, principalmente quando fazem de tudo para chegar ao topo, usando violência e cometendo atrocidades apenas para conquistar poder. Mas será que isso, no fim, vale a pena? Esse foi o meu principal questionamento enquanto assistia ao dorama A Leste do Palácio.

A história e uma fantasia com visuais bem feitos e uma fotografia que demonstra de forma bastante consistente os sentimentos dos personagens e a atmosfera pesada do palácio, o que torna a série extremamente imersiva. Além disso, as atuações de todo o elenco são impecáveis.

É impressionante como a mensagem da série é muito bem construída, principalmente ao utilizar a Fantasma do Lago como uma metáfora de como as histórias são criadas e de como a manipulação é usada em prol daqueles que almejam cada vez mais poder. Além disso, ao meu ver, ela faz uma alusão clara à forma como as pessoas terceirizam seus erros e transferem a culpa para algo ou alguém sempre que isso as favorece, culpabilizando aqueles que ainda estão entre nós ou aqueles que, infelizmente, já partiram e nunca tiveram suas vozes ouvidas.

O enredo também é muito eficiente ao mostrar que, às vezes — ou quase sempre — devemos temer aqueles que estão vivos, pois eles podem ser ainda piores do que aqueles que já se foram. A série também aborda como os erros do passado continuam sendo repetidos dentro das famílias, seja por um ciclo que nunca se encerra ou pela criação que foi dada às gerações seguintes. Esse é o caso de um dos personagens centrais da trama, sobre o qual não darei spoilers, pois ele representa perfeitamente as consequências dos erros cometidos por aqueles que vieram antes dele. Infelizmente, preso em um ciclo vicioso, acaba repetindo os mesmos erros por causa de tudo o que vivenciou no ambiente em que cresceu.

Também acho interessante destacar a forma como o luto dos protagonistas é retratado. Desde o início, eles precisam enfrentar verdades difíceis e são obrigados a encarar de frente um luto que nunca foi verdadeiramente assimilado ou superado. Somente ao aceitarem essa dor conseguem seguir em frente e se perdoar por acontecimentos que, infelizmente, nunca estiveram ao seu alcance.

Isso é importante porque, mesmo diante das dificuldades e dos inúmeros desafios, os protagonistas ainda escolhem trilhar, de certa forma, o caminho do "bem". Em contrapartida, vemos outros personagens seguirem o caminho do ódio e da amargura. Muitos deles foram profundamente marcados pela criação que receberam e pelo ambiente em que cresceram, fatores que ajudam a compreender como se tornaram quem são. No entanto, a série deixa claro que esses traumas e circunstâncias não justificam as atrocidades que decidiram cometer. Consumidos por uma fome desenfreada de poder, acabam usando essa infelicidade para prejudicar outras pessoas, sejam membros de suas próprias famílias ou indivíduos considerados inferiores pelos padrões da época.

Enfim, a história acerta em cheio em sua proposta ao apresentar uma excelente jornada de evolução para seus personagens, que precisam enfrentar o próprio passado e lidar com segredos há muito escondidos. A série não romantiza aqueles que cometeram os piores crimes e deixa claro que todas as suas escolhas, por mais compreensíveis que possam parecer dentro de seu contexto, continuam sendo completamente erradas. Além disso, mostra que, muitas vezes, os fantasmas que acreditamos enfrentar não são nada comparados às pessoas que caminham ao nosso lado e que a soberba e a ganância podem trazer consequências devastadoras não apenas para quem as alimenta, mas também para todos ao seu redor.

A Leste do Palácio é, sem dúvida, uma das melhores séries do ano.

A quiet, deeply human drama that proves not every masterpiece needs big twists.

i don’t think i’ve connected to a kdrama this quietly in a long time.

Our Unwritten Seoul isn’t the kind of drama that hooks you with huge plot twists or nonstop cliffhangers. it’s slow, introspective, and sometimes painfully ordinary… and that’s exactly why it works. it trusts the audience enough to sit with uncomfortable emotions instead of rushing to solve them.

the biggest strength is easily the acting. the lead performance is honestly incredible. playing two characters who share the same face but feel completely different could’ve turned into a gimmick, but it never does. after a few episodes, i stopped seeing “one actress playing two roles” and genuinely felt like i was watching two different people. that’s not something many actors can pull off.

what i loved most is how human everyone feels. nobody is written as purely good or bad. people make selfish choices, they avoid conversations, they hurt each other without meaning to, and they slowly learn how to live with themselves. the drama doesn’t force dramatic confrontations every episode because real life usually doesn’t work like that.

the romance is also refreshing. instead of relying on endless misunderstandings or forced love triangles, it grows through patience, comfort, and mutual understanding. it feels earned. you actually believe these people would choose each other outside of the drama.

visually, it’s beautiful without trying too hard. the cinematography matches the mood perfectly, and the soundtrack is subtle but memorable. there are scenes that say almost nothing, yet somehow leave the biggest impact.

that being said… i completely understand why this won’t be for everyone. the pacing is undeniably slow. if you’re looking for constant excitement or major twists every episode, you’ll probably end up frustrated. there were definitely moments where i wished certain storylines moved a little faster, and a few supporting characters could’ve been explored more deeply.

but honestly, i don’t think this drama was ever trying to be exciting. it’s about identity, burnout, family expectations, loneliness, healing, and learning that changing your life isn’t one big moment—it’s a series of small choices.

by the end, i wasn’t emotional because of some shocking finale. i was emotional because these characters felt real. i cared about them.

it’s one of those dramas that quietly stays with you after you finish it. maybe not perfect, maybe not everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s sincere, beautifully acted, and emotionally honest from beginning to end.

Rating: 9.5/10.

this isn’t the loudest drama of 2025. it doesn’t need to be. it’s one of the most human.

Zwischen Schuld und Wahrheit – alte Wunden, neue Antworten

Hinweis: Folgende Zeilen stellen meine persönliche, subjektive Einschätzung der Serie dar.
The Prosecutor's Proposal ist für mich deutlich mehr Krimi mit Romance als eine klassische BL. Die Liebesgeschichte ist zwar vorhanden, aber ehrlich gesagt war für mich nie die große Frage, ob die Hauptdarsteller zusammenkommen. Mein Hauptantrieb war der Fall selbst und die Frage, wie sich alles am Ende auflösen würde.
Meine erste koreanische BL und ich muss sagen: mehr davon.
Die Geschichte folgt zwei Männern, deren Leben schon als Kinder durch ein Verbrechen miteinander verbunden wurden. Jahre später begegnen sie sich wieder und geraten in Ermittlungen, die alte Wunden öffnen und lange akzeptierte Wahrheiten infrage stellen. Die Serie beschäftigt sich mit der Frage, wie sehr die Taten anderer Menschen das eigene Leben bestimmen können und ob man sich jemals wirklich von diesem Ballast lösen kann.
Besonders gefallen hat mir, dass die Ermittlungen und die spätere Auflösung für mich nachvollziehbar waren. Ich hatte nicht das Gefühl, dass plötzlich irgendwelche Informationen aus dem Hut gezaubert werden. Auch wenn mich manches verwundert hat.
Die Liebesgeschichte hat für mich aber auch funktioniert. Die beiden Hauptdarsteller geben zusammen ein sehr schönes Bild ab und ihre Beziehung entwickelt sich angenehm ruhig. Generell war ich überrascht, wie viele Gefühle die Serie transportiert. Nach außen wirkt sie oft eher kühl und zurückhaltend, emotional steckt aber deutlich mehr darin, als man zunächst erwarten würde. Auch das Intro hat mir sehr gut gefallen. Es passt zur Atmosphäre der Serie und hat mich jedes Mal direkt in die richtige Stimmung gebracht.
Was mir aufgefallen ist: Ju Tae-seon wirkte in manchen Szenen etwas zu hell geschminkt. Das hat mich zwar nicht wirklich gestört, war aber manchmal etwas auffällig.
Und dann wäre da noch das Ende. Die Finale Episode war etwas schnell. Die Abschlussszene war gleichzeitig kitschig, ein bisschen cringe und irgendwie doch passend. Beim allerletzten Bild musste ich jedenfalls ziemlich lachen.
The Prosecutor's Proposal ist für mich in erster Linie ein spannender Krimi mit einer Romance-Komponente und nicht umgekehrt. Wer eine klassische BL mit viel Fokus auf die Beziehung sucht, findet vielleicht andere Serien besser. Wer dagegen Geschichten über Wahrheit, Vorurteile, Machtmissbrauch, Schuld und alte Wunden mag und dabei trotzdem nicht auf Romantik verzichten möchte, sollte der Serie definitiv eine Chance geben.

Crazy opening it started with bale so I thought, but it was actually the uncle he took off that mask like with ease I feel like I just got deceived and this is in the first five minutes. This is gonna be very, very good. ||I find it dumb that jinman didn’t keep the mask on your disguise as Bale right they think you’re dead right just keep the mask on and come prepared with five bombs throw it in the room so it kills everybody in the room, including bail because you didn’t learn from season one that he cannot be trusted that he’s dead he had a chance if he just brought 5 bombs would’ve done the job to make sure that he’s dead and whoever betrayed him in that room is dead, but no, you decide to still wanna face off against bale. Now they’re gonna have maybe two more faces in this whole season two because he didn’t take that chance I don’t care if it’s being a wuss it’s just like you want this to end faster right why not bring bombs the fight it’s not a fight if he just exterminate everybody in the room. The chance was there like do you just wanna fight him for the love of the game at this point? Jinman plz. I know it’s for the plot because they wanna drag this on cause season one Jin man after the face off he had he would’ve bought bombs. OK, but like when he was getting the thing that he needed from the mission and jinman got shot on leg, right the one that had a machine gun on the helicopter, right how did he not shoot anyone and he had a machine gun he sprayed it down on them and not one person was killed and me and my bail is still alive. I would not eat I would not drink water. I will not sleep until I find this man because now Bale is gonna be out there literally searching, jinman bro. The machine guy man should pack up his bags and go home. Cause there’s no way a machine gun is not gonna kill anybody. He’s spraying it down like that. How does that make sense? I just feel like they did this on purpose so that they can run a few more episodes. When really a shop for killers could really just be a movie honestly and this could be part two.

Worthy of the hype

I came into this with high expectations, and I'm happy to say that it delivered! Yang Kyung Hee is quickly becoming one of my favorite directors in the KBL sphere, and this is easily one of her best works. The leads' chemistry is electric. The whole cast is great, but Kim Yoon Sik perfectly embodies Ju Tae Seon.

Honestly I think this would have worked better with 12+ 1 hour episodes like a standard K-drama which would've allowed for smoother pacing, but I applaud the tremendous effort that went into making it as good as it is despite the shorter runtime. Not a single second was wasted. I do have some other gripes like the use of generative AI, but besides that the production quality was consistently high. In terms of story, the plot is a tad bit predictable, but that's forgivable as it's more about the journey of solving the mystery rather than the mystery itself. The main draw of the show is undoubtedly the dynamic between the MC and ML, and every interaction between them is golden.

Overall this is the perfect mix of drama, mystery/thriller, and romance (with some top-tier NC scenes). I've been dying to see a good detective/crime drama BL à la Beyond Evil or The Devil Judge, and this is just that.
