A good comedy trying to be an unsuccessful tearjerker…
This drama started off AMAZINGLY!!!! I was literally obsessed with the first episodes! It was soooo hilarious!!!! I kept recording the funny scenes and sending it to friends and telling everyone to watch this 😂😂😂I loved the drama when it was just about Seo-ri trying to get used to the new world. I never realized it but the fish out of water trope really is one of my faves 😂😂😂 The way she was talking was soooo hilarious I was laughing soooo hard I couldn’t breathe 🤣🤣😆 This actress has done such an amazing job!!! One of my highlights of the year so far! I wanna see her in more comedies!!! 😂😂😂
That scene of hers when someone made a youtube edit of her saying this one sentence over and ovet again was the death of me! I was cryingggg soooo harddddd!!!! 😂😂😂
In general in the first few episodes there were a lot footages of Seoul’s famous sights so it almost felt like a promotional travel video for Korea but in a good way. Fun to watch if you miss Korea like I do. Also her addiction to sweets and how she kept on running out of money bcs all she did was spend it on food was hilarious 😂 And the dogggg ommggg!!! 🥹🥹🥹 It was sooo cuteeee!!!! I hoped the drama had stayed in this slice of life world until the end without the numerous time travels, and past life snippets and family intrigue and murder 😕😕😕
I also really liked her next-door neighbor ☺️ That male actor has been one of my favorite second male leads. I always love the roles he plays in dramas and I really wanna see him as a male lead one day. I liked him much more than Cha Se-Gye. Not as a romantic partner for Seo-ri but just as a character in general. I would have likes to see more scenes of him and her and how their friendship evolved 😂 I also really liked how he became her manager 🤣🤣🤣 That was one of the good things of the middle part of the drama…
I would say after the Jeju episodes things went downhill for me…
When Mo Tae-hee shows up things get quite boring… There was also this one episode (8 or 9) when everything takes place in the press… scene after scene there is another news article! It all felt like I was reading twitter rather than watching a k-Drama… that was the point when I lost interest and got sleepy and bored at EVERY episode… I seriously had to force myself to finish one episode / night 🥺🥺🥺
Also I found the male lead to be VERY toxic! The way he treated FL was unacceptable for me. I would have never dated him. He only liked her when he felt loved but as soon as she did something that shattered is ego he became all aggressive… RED FLAG!!! 🚩 nope!
The kiss scenes were indeed amazing tho! And luckily he softens up in the last like 3 episodes or sth 😂😂😂
But the switch from perfect comedy to half-asses romance and family/company intrigues left me quite cold 😕 I wished the first 5 episodes back…
Another thing I didn’t like is how the FL changed from being this badass woman who took no one’s shit and always fought back (she literally beat up a dozen men to save her grandma in the first episodes), to suddenly being this weak, whiny woman who needed to be saved by the ML really rubbed me the wrong way… didn’t like it at all… And it made absolutely no sense…
The past life / reincarnation thing was interesting but a bit sloppy and confusing at times, to the point that it got boring… I feel like they wanted to do sth similar to Hotel Del Luna but they failed…
Then some things towards the end that I didn’t quite understand / had questions about:
1. What was the point of having halmoni have dementia and losing her memory?? Did it contribute to the plot? to the character development? Why? Why did it have to happen? And why did she have to die? I feel like they were trying really hard to make the audience cry but sorry it was not convincing… They should have sticked to the comedy. They did that the best tbh…
2. Why was the grandfather so mean to Se-Gye and favored Mun-Do all his life just to make a 180 turn and call Mun-Do inhumane and start prioritizing Se-Gye?? Just because he finally found a gurl? I didn’t understand that and it never got clarified…
3. The last scene of Dan-sim and the Prince running away? what was that all about? I didn’t understand…
4. Also the way she had to save him in the past but couldn’t be with him again all didn’t matter in the end anyway and they could easily bend the rules again seemed very sloppy to me… I didn’t like it that the rules were so easy to change…
5. Why did Seo-ri’s drama set bestie turn on her???? What happened that she started to hate Seo-ri? I feel like the motive here was not clear. Was it because the second FL aka the actress suddenly turned good that they needed another evil, jealous side girl??? I don’t like that approach! Why cant they all just become friends??? 🙄🙄🙄
Also the amount of hospital scenes was just insane!!! 1. he gets poisoned 2. she gets hit by a truck 3. grandpa is still in the hospital 4. halmoni has to go to the hospital too 5. Seo-ri gets drugges 6. Se-Gye gets stabbed 7. Seo-ri is in a coma … did I forget sth??? 🙄🙄🙄
Tis drama should have been just 10 episodes… then maybe it would have not become such a shipwreck in the end…
All in all, just watch the first 4 episodes for a good laugh and then drop it…

The main couple is the cutest thing in the world. It takes them a while to really get together, but when they do, it's one heart-fluttering moment after another.
I particularly love stories of women entering male environments and humiliating them. And the criticism about "fans" who hate seeing their idols dating nailed it, I would love to see more shows addressing this topic.
It's a cute and lighthearted drama. That's it.

I was a little hesitant to watch it because I always see people saying that the male lead is very problematic in terms of narcissism, But honestly, I just found him hilarious.
And I don't think the drama tries to romanticize or normalize his behavior. Quite the opposite, we have a lot of other characters who constantly point out his weird behavior, including the female lead itself. In the first few episodes, you are not supposed to find his actions romantic ou anything like that, you supposed to look at him and think, "Damn, this guy really doesn't understand anything about relating to people."
He's very narcissistic, and I think portraying that kind of character is very difficult when he's the protagonist; it's practically impossible to make him likeable in the first few episodes. But that's what character development is for. I personally really like his development throughout the story, especially because it deviates significantly from this wave of "greenflagization" where male lead needs to be this perfect guy without any character flaws and no bad attitudes since episode one.
The main relationship is beautiful, and it surprises me that they managed to create such a healthy relationship when it had all the makings of a disaster.

My most hated trope...twice
Welp. I was hoping I'd understand the hype after Part 2 since Part 1 disappointed me, but that's not the case. While, once again, I like the higher stakes — of which this part has more of, it also starts to feel much more aimless after the first few episodes, going so far as to use amnesia, my most hated trope, as a plot device not once, but twice.
The acting is really great from both leads but particularly the ML; I just wished it was used on more fight scenes or political maneuvering instead of reverting his character to a ditz for multiple episodes.

I tried to force myself to watch it to the end, but I couldn't. Too boring and too much wasted potencial.

For feminism and gay rights
I was pleasantly surprised by how vocally feminist this show was beyond just the main character. It's not just about a woman making merit for herself through her own prowess and worth, it's about someone making way for other women to take control of their own lives and choose their own paths. He Yan has lived her whole life following rules and the will others imposed on her, so she knows firsthand what it's liked to be oppressed, even when doing something she ultimately enjoys and wants to do for herself. She pushes for women's rights and freedom constantly and she convinces many by being the leading example.
As for the "gay rights" part, this is obviously a Chinese drama so Chinese censorship applies. However, this unintentionally carries a very gay message. Since the FMC is forced to live as a man for most of the story, there are many instances in which it ends up looking like a gay couple during moments of tension and charged looks between her and the MMC.
What's more is that Xiao Jue caught feelings for her before knowing she was a woman, so it's accidental bi representation.
It's very much like Mulan and Li Shang, as a friend of mine pointed out to me.

Wow
Well........ Safe to say I went in with excitement and left confused. I don't want to bring a potential viewer down with my review but. At some point of the story I completely lost the plot. Not lost it I mean it completely decided to make a new one that left me both confused and questioning if my eyes really did see and tried comprehending this... But all in all not bad just needs to be seen with a out of the box kind of mind. Was this review helpful to you?
GMM Let's Try an Ensemble Again!!
Gorya best GL character ever!!Cast was amazing in this. You could tell the actresses took their characters seriously and really worked well with the script they were given. I saw online that Film improvised some of the scenes and it's like girl okay why you letting the actress out-write you
Wish they kept all of the drama contained within the 6 women rather than introduce external drama plots

The acting
It was beyond what I had imagined. And I have watched countless dramas, and safe to say this one is in my favorites list now. The actors and actresses really captured the whole story and beauty of the drama. I think the casting director did a wonderful job at casting the actors and actresses. I wish the director and all of the people involved in this drama to have a successful and prosperous career. The only problem is that we never got to see the ending of they reunited or not and it's also too bad it's short. I hope and pray for a sequel. Was this review helpful to you?

The entanglements of the past can pull you into your future with some smoke.
This series gave me what I needed it to give me: Magic, romance, and comedy. My Royal Nemesis starts off strong, giving us a perfect FL in a very interesting, and dare I say, messed-up situation. Because of it, we get thrust into the future where we meet our dashing ‘Male Lead’ Heo Nam-jun (who I ended up adoring in this role). When these two meet, it’s the perfect caustic and chaotic joining that lets you know fate can be a mo’fo sometimes and all the way right. It also gives that ‘Twin? Where have you been?‘ energy. 😂 I absolutely enjoyed these two individually in their roles and together. Both actors are known for playing the perfect villains in K-dramas, and to have them join in this series as potential love interests...it freaking worked for me!
This series will give you laughs, drama, and twists with an enjoyable soundtrack as well. The show title is a perfect descriptor for everything going on in this drama’s world; just know that, cus ooowee... 😑I have some beeffffffff with our series villain. While the co-protagonists sure did work my left and right eyelids. 😖

One of my fav toxic couples to date
I love toxic couples so if you don't like toxic couples then yeah you may not love this as much as me.The characters were written so freaking well. Fan xiao reminded me a lot of myself but I am less crazy I swear. His character was written with so much depth and he just felt so real. I loved that he was a flawed character and that he made mistakes. I loved that he was stubborn and sabotaged his love life bc losing control is scary. ugh I have already rewatched it like 5 times I love this drama so much.
This couple is so toxic and in reality they should not be together but I love when toxic love wins in the end XD.

The Yearning Was Real, The Logic Was Not
Started with a royal bang, ended with a royal shrug. The plot holes were bigger than Joseon itself — time travel with zero explanation, and a wisdom tooth surgery performed with a face mask covering the MOUTH- i.e the surgical site (as a dental professional I am filing a formal complaint). Segye woke up in a flash even though his kidneys were badly damaged due to the multiple stab wounds- Writers care to explain? ML was sweetly carrying the whole drama kingdom on his back and I did enjoy the romance… until Shin Seori's ancient accent drove me to commit the unforgivable sin of switching to English Audio. BUT. The one thing that redeemed this finale? The original Kang Dan and Grand Prince sailing away to Qing, finally free — his yearning eyes said everything the script couldn't. The writers fumbled the logic but accidentally stuck the emotional landing. 8/10, would've been a 9 if science existed in this universe. Was this review helpful to you?
