Duaaaang!

Watch this, really!
I watched this a couple days ago and wow!! I was searching for a more cute soft bl drama, kinda youth vibes, and thats what i've got. This bl really healed me, i was tired of bl's that were too complicated or hard to watch, and this one is definitely easy and good to watch, i felt good and happy all the episodes that were happy, and i could get emotional when i had to. And when i was watching i always felt kinda silly happy bursting with happiness just like Duang. Its a very light series that made me wanna live again, lol. We had some spice and emotional moments too, all in good amounts. The chosen actors were amazing, all of them good choices, they're all adorable and act really well, even tho they're not in this career for much long.
I know some people could "cringe" in some moments, but thats absolutely not me, i felt just like Duang freaking out cutely.

To finish: Duang love Qin, Qin love Duang!

Love Upon a Time: A Place I Visited, Not Just a Series I Watched

ove Upon a Time ended up being everything I hoped it would be and more.

After production delays, recasting, and significant changes from the original pilot, I wasn't entirely sure what to expect. What I got was a beautifully crafted historical fantasy romance that completely swept me away.

What surprised me most was how playful the series was. I expected something far more serious, but JJ's performance as Nakhun injects the perfect amount of humour and chaos into the story. Honestly, if a Gen Z university student suddenly found himself 400 years in the past, I would expect him to react exactly like this. His exaggerated expressions and comedic timing never felt out of place to me. Instead, they made him feel human.

Net and JJ are phenomenal together. Net brings warmth, emotional depth, and quiet strength to Phop, while JJ fills Nakhun with charm and life. Their chemistry is undeniable, and by the end of the series I was completely invested in every glance, every conversation, and every moment they shared.

What truly impressed me was the balance. Love Upon a Time is simultaneously a romance, a mystery, a period drama, and a fantasy. Remarkably, none of those elements overshadow the others. They weave together naturally, creating a story that constantly keeps you engaged.

Visually, the series is stunning. The rivers, landscapes, traditional homes, costumes, and historical locations all contribute to a world that feels rich and lived in. The production quality is among the best I've seen in Thai BL.

And then there's the finale.

What a finale.

It's the kind of ending that feels earned. After all the love, heartbreak, danger, sacrifice, and longing, the final chapter lands with enormous emotional weight. Long after the credits rolled, I was still thinking about it.

More importantly, this series achieved something few dramas ever manage. It didn't feel like I was watching a story. It felt like I was living inside one. I wasn't simply observing these characters—I felt present alongside them.

I'll carry Love Upon a Time with me not as a show I watched, but as a place I visited.

Highly entertaining

Very likeable characters portrayed by skillful actors. Especially Park Ji-Hoon who was amazing as usual. The humor was right up my alley, and the pace was good enough. But most of all I enjoyed the interactions between the characters. I haven't served in the military, but I like to imagine the friendships and bonds shown in this series might be similar to those in real life. I felt like I was included in that dynamic a bit while watching.

Ted-Talk-ish K-drama

Six Flying Dragons takes a dynamic slice of Korean history—the decay of Goryeo and the founding of Joseon—and focuses on the institutional changes proposed by Sam Bong and the new regime. For those who enjoy lectures in a K-drama setting, there are many episodes in which to enjoy the sonorous voice of the scholar while his adherents cogitate silently in agreement.

While the actual history provides ample drama, the series introduces a secret society as a catalyst for decisions and as an excuse for gravity-defying acrobatic sword fights. The acting ensemble is competent, and the broad historical framework is largely accurate. However, the effects and costs of power are only lightly explored as the characters move through what often feels like a timeline-driven narrative.

The founding of Joseon contained enough material to create a dynamic exploration of the motivations, implementation, and consequences of political power from multiple perspectives. Instead, the series devotes much of its runtime to doctrinal discussions, rendering the overall experience surprisingly static. After spending dozens of episodes chewing over ideas, the series abruptly compresses many of its most consequential historical developments into the final episodes, tying off major threads with remarkable haste.

Give it a Try! One of the most non-toxic Lakorn you'll find!

Finally watched it. This show has been on my "Plan to watch" list for a long time.. I finally came around and got the chance to see it.

I had watched 2 lakorns of FL before and always found her really charming and beautiful. She is pretty and has really stunning emotional eyes. In this show, she is even better. She handles the physicality of being a bodyguard with her petite body perfectly well. Her action sequences looks genuine enough. Really a praiseworthy performance by her.

Coming to ML, hmm where do I begin. I am pleasantly surprised. I thought I had seen all handsome asian actors that there were to see. Oh my, was I wrong. What a man. I couldn't keep my eyes off of him whenever he was on screen. I'll remember this performance and him for ages. XD Ken, you really did good.

Leads had such a good chemistry, their kisses were really very nice. Sometimes, I just found myself giggling looking at them. In short, very much enjoyed watching them together on the screen.

The supporting casts did well. There were your usual supporting characters you would expect in a Lakorn, with granny and FL's friends. Second leads were great as well.

Script could have been more refined, some actions and sequences lacked common sense, but lakorns being over the top is something you can always expect. Villains lacked any duality, they were just bad for the sake of being bad. But overall a good watch.

If you want to try watching a non-toxic Lakorn, go ahead and give this a try. You'll not be disappointed.

~Cheers!!

Good but does not stand out

The chemistry was great and the story was okay. My main issue is that this drama was marketed as a sociopath x villianess romcom. So i went in with expectations of seeing something similar to story of kunning palace maybe. What we got, however, were 2 misunderstood pookies whom everyone around is scheming against.

Found this edit on insta that sums up the above perfectly:

THIS!!!!!

So good enough to get me out of my kdrama slump, but not great enough to rewatch.

Omfg

The most dumb thing I have ever seen. The plot doesn’t make any sense and the characters are unrealistic and infuriating. I literally wasted my time waiting for something that makes sense to happen in these series but in reality it was just extremely bad writing trying to convince us that it’s some deep and smart plot.

So Entertaining series for relaxation

I must say the sass of Nut is just top notch. And every time when "Kosol" has to do wired things (Which he don't want to) is so fun to watch specially the deity voice one scene, the boat scene where he is calling for ched and the prison one is just hilarious, sulky jealous Kosol is just so fun to watch

A good story but lacking in execution

This story is wonderful but the execution was very bad. It seems Director didn’t know where to go, he was a bit lost. This drama had so many potentials and Director should play with it. It is hard to bring authentic Siam to shine and especially with LGBTQ+ in that time which was more than forbidden, but there was a lot of opportunity to play with. Overall, the score 7.5/10 is enough and hose scores are kudos for actors, music and story.

Surprised by CH3

I was fully prepared to be disappointed and to watch a series full of nonsense, but I ended up being pleasantly surprised. I really enjoyed Oon and Fun’s relationship and watching them grow as a young married couple. Seeing them build a life together and start a family was especially refreshing. It’s the first time I’ve seen this aspect explored so much in a GL series, so I definitely appreciate the effort.

That being said, I don’t think this series will be for everyone. In my opinion, it’s more suited to viewers over 25 because of its mature themes and storytelling.

The chemistry between the actresses is absolutely there. They genuinely feel like a real married couple, which made their relationship very believable. I’m honestly surprised that they managed to keep me invested and entertained for eight episodes while telling such a mature story.

At times, the series almost feels like positive advocacy for the normalization and acceptance of same-sex couples, and I really liked that aspect of it.

Overall, I’m looking forward to seeing what these actresses do next. 😊

This Drama is more than what it seems on outside;

1.If you are a reader, I would HIGHLY recommend the webtoon that this show is adapted from with the same title .
2. It does seem like a regular romcom until you find out it's not. It's simply not just about beauty standards but more about calling out the misogyny rooted around it. One of the well written romcoms out there.
This was my 4th or 5th kdrama years ago when i was new to kdramas. I didn't knew the leads and i didn't like both the leads at first as their acting comes off stiff to me. But I did complete it because the direction flow, the storyline, the CHARACTERISATION and cinematography were so good.
Then I found the webtoon from where the drama is adapted and the leads' acting made so much sense tbh. The webtoon is on another level like the flow is so better and i love how close the characters were to the reality of SK.
All these beauty standards were new to me and couldn't relate or care less about it but I love the characterisation especially the 2nd FL. No character is black and white here. The character arc is so good.
This is the only drama/series that I rewatch it sometimes maybe because it feels complete? and every character shines here + whenever i rewatch it i read the webtoon again idk why but it feels incomplete when i don't read it lol. Both the series and webtoon feels like it's the first time everytime i re-read/watch it again!
Wish to see the 2nd FL in more projects!

I love the actors but the show is... idk. Please recast them in a better show, I beg ?

1.) This series started off SOOO good. I caught myself smiling as if I was in the series when I watched the first episode, but it went downhill and I don't know how to feel. I kept hating Lu Feng, then he'd do something sweet and I'd like him then remember what all he did. I'm soo happy Lu Feng got help in the end, they deserve to have a happy ending but I just wish some things in this show didn't happen :/ I had to skip over a couple scenes cuz it was too uncomfortable to watch.

2.) Fuck Xiao Chen's and Lu Feng's Parents tho I can truly never understand why parents decide to treat their kids like underwear with a wet skid mark just because they like the same gender, glad they died fuck them.

3.) I want to add it was very clear Lu Feng had issues from the 2nd ep, I was really hoping he'd get help from ep. 2 to the end and I'm seriously glad he did. Xiao Chen was also clearly blinded by love as if I was in his shoes I would've left the second he tried to guilt trip me in to having sex.

Anyway actors were amazing and I would love to see them in a show with a sweeter plot! Please and Thank Yewww

A Breath of Fresh Air from Start to Finish

"The Legend of the Kitchen Soldier" is an absolute masterpiece. Watching this show week by week, from the very first episode to the grand finale, was an incredibly rewarding journey and worth every single second of the wait.
Here is why this series is such a massive standout:
Flawless Plot & Pacing: The storyline is beautifully crafted, managing to keep you hooked every week without ever losing its magic.
Impeccable Casting & Acting: The chemistry among the cast is undeniable. Every single actor brought their character to life with so much heart and authenticity.
Top-Tier Comedy: The humor hits perfectly every time, delivering genuine laughs without ever feeling forced.
In a sea of predictable television, this show is a true rarity. Watching it felt like breathing in the crisp morning breeze or sipping a perfectly warm, freshly brewed cup of coffee. It is a beautiful, comforting gem of a series that I cannot recommend highly enough. 🤎
