I highly recommend these two series!
> both relate to school
> there is bullying in both series
> emotionally strong main characters
> in the series, the main goal is to change people for the better
> both deal with the human psyche

It's about hierarchy and bullying in school.

The Platinum 8 of Gakkou no Kaidan are the one who controls the student council and
the ordinary students and abuses their power

The student council of kakegurui are the one controls the student body and abuses their
power

The female leads of kakegurui and gakkou no kaidan gives much attention to the school

Both have MLs that are super negative and just blurt out the harsh realities of the world. Gakkou no Kaidan is admittedly more positive, but there’s a similar vibe between the two dramas.

The only similarity is that both dramas are about corrupted schools and bullying and main leads trying to change that. Gakkou no Kaidan is a bit more idealistic I would say.

I can't help to think School 2017 somehow remind me with Gakkou no Kaidan. A mysterious figure with black hoodie definitely is the greatest factor for me. Despite the theme is school, youth and friendship, both the shows potrayed how a group of students try to change the injustice happened in their school.

It just purely my honest opinion. However, both shows have strength in their own way. But you definitely not wasting your time by watching both of these shows.

Gakkou no Kaidan has been compared to Hana Yori Dango particularly by Japanese audiences. Both have a clique of wealthy students (F4/Platinum 8), who bully the other students out of boredom.

this rec might be a bit off the hook, but when I watched the first ep of Shut Up! Flower Boy Band, when I saw first two episodes of Gakkou Kaidan, I felt rock'n'roll ... that's it

regardless of the story, the actors found themselves in characters that fit them perfectly; and are good
(Kamiki Ryunosuke, Katori Shingo, Yamapi / the - incidentally all somewhat anti-heroic - Shizukui Kei, Hiratsuka Heihachi, Saionji Kosuke)
and it's pretty much what holds the shows...

both drama are about the main leads trying to change the school, where some students are ruling over, who bully others or do something bad but are not getting punished and the teachers who wouldn't do anything..

Both have a peculiar and reclusive older male lead that enters the female leads lives. They help eachother grow and overcome problems. Both shows also tackle inequality, bullying and student life.

Both of the dramas are quite different on the surface. Gakkou no Kaidan isn't a sci-fi while The Gifted is. What they do have in common is student empowerment and equality of students. How you shouldn't look down on others based on the background or how smart they are. Gakkou no Kaidan is about proper justice, while in The Gifted, the students want equality and try to express that everyone are just the same. The key similarity though is that they want to change and fix the corrupt education and school system. The Gifted is great if you're looking for student empowerment and super powers in one.
