*SLOW CLAP*

I heard so many things about I REMEMBER YOU but I was quite hesitant to watch it because it's a crime-based story. No, I don't hate crime series. On the contrary, I love it so much that my expectations are quite high when it comes to this genre. I watched this drama without expecting anything. What I did not know was I was in for a big surprise...

STORY - read more This reminds me a lot of the American crime drama "The Mentalist". The plot is quite similar but the details are very different.
Being a sucker for stories with genius characters, the first episode had me hooked. I had this strange hunger that was only satiated by watching the next episode, then the next and the next until I reached the end... I tried to look for major holes but the writers had really done a great job in connecting every piece of the puzzle and covering up the tiny mistakes.
This drama really stands out because despite of having Crime as it's main core, the showcasing of violence was a lot less compared to other TV series. In fact, the drama is so rich in morals, brotherly love (oh, you cannot miss this), and friendship. I never thought that a crime drama like this is possible.

If there's anything that I feel somewhat lacking is the ending. I am not saying that it's not good, but rather, I was expecting a closure. After all what the characters have been through, I think they deserved a better ending.

ACTING/ CAST - Korean actors are really good, especially in conveying their emotions through their eyes. The actors in this drama are so 'in character' that you would feel their pain, agony, fear and even happiness. Needless to say Jang Na Ra (Cha Ji An) and Seo In Guk (Lee Hyun) did a wonderful job. A special shout out is not enough for Choi Won Young (Lee Jun Ho) who's acting is so superb that I find him really scary now and Park Bo Gum (Jung Seon Ho) who was hands-down amazing. They both deserved an award.

MUSIC - I enjoyed the music very much especially the intro/title music. It gives you the mysterious detective vibe. I actually find it quite similar with the manga series "Detective Conan's" intro.

REWATCH VALUE - I think this one deserves a rewatch. It's one of the dramas that you think you want to watch from the beginning again because you want to know if you missed any details.

OVERALL: This one deserves a standing ovation.

*SLOW CLAP FADING*

I ended this drama with a heavy heart. Not because it was bad, but because it's so good that I am sure I am going to miss it.

There was no rocky start for this story, from the beginning it was interesting and mysterious. Not only was it smartly written and well portrayed, but the questions it begged to ask of humanity were chilling and hard hitting. Did we as people create the monsters of society? Or were they born as twisted as they appear now?

The plot line of this drama was suspenseful, as Lee Hyun and Cha Ji read more An discover the horrifying truths of their pasts and of the murderous entanglements that connect them with the people around them, we also begin to draw the lines between whom is truly a monster and those who were created through the circumstances surrounding them. Each murder they take on helps us see clearer whom is behind the deeds of the past and how a monster can be made. This type of story telling gives an in depth view into the eyes of the psychotic, and into the eyes of the ones whom catch them. Both the love story and sense of brotherhood also add onto this story. They give personal connections to the crimes committed and the feelings of those affected.

The cast was superb. As a person whose never been a fan of Seo In Guk, I have to say I find his acting in this drama to be refreshing and consistently suprising, he has officially gained a new fan, as his portrayal of Lee Hyun blew me away. Jang Na Ra's character Cha Ji An though in the beginning seemingly a dismal obsessive police officer, slowly grew into a deep understanding character whose past pains made her into a strong female character. The second leads, were outstanding. Lee Jun Ho's creepy kindness and oddly eerie vibe throughout the beginning of the drama really set the scene. Throughout every scene he was in I had a huge case of the heebee Jeebies, like, my skin crawled. ***(SPOLIERS)**** (Especailly when he touched his mothers bones in the coroners office. That was just creepy). ****(END OF SPOILERS)*** Min's character was also one of complies creepiness and he was also very attractive, and while I try to stay away from mentioning that in my reviews I felt it just had to be said. Min's character gave us so much undertanding of how children's views and surroundings affect their growth and presence in society. His scenes always stole my attention.

The music in this drama had me consistently singing out loud. Especially "Remember"by Dear Cloud, I have listened to that OST so many times since this drama has aired, especially when left with a giant cliffhanger at the end of an episode when I needed to pine over my feelings through song. The OST's was memorable and lovely.

This drama consistently had me guessing and asking myself bigger questions. The plot line and cast always blew me away. It so rewatchable and just so well done. I cannot reccomend this drama enough.

Both feature sexy psychopaths. Bad Guys has Park Hae Jin. I Remember You has Park Bo Gum. While there is a romance subplot in IRY, in my opinion, there was zero chemistry. The real draw for both dramas is the bromance, the team comraderie in BG is great. And, the real chemistry in IRY is between Seo In Guk and Park Bo Gum. Highly recommend both.

While Duel is more suspense thriller, and IRY is more crime solving - what stood out for me was the heartbreaking bro-angst of two characters in both dramas. Without spoiling, you'll realise by the end of both dramas, which characters I might be referring to. If you drop either of the dramas too early, you won't find out :(

Jang Na Ra and Seo In Guk! They are the actors that I did not like at first sight. But they are so good at portraying their characters that I grew to love them both. That now, I trust that whatever project they will star on, it must be good.
Especially on the part when Jang Na Ra found out about his Dad, she did not even have to shed a river, but I cried a lot feeling all her emotions, I got carried away. And Seo In Guk, I do not know why but he is hotter every time his emotions are intense. Hahahaha
And I like the story, there maybe a hint on who's who at the early part of the drama, but the real story unfolds as the show progresses.
I was just afraid on how the complicated plot will end, but for me, I was satisfied with the ending.
BTW I am also moved by the "wolf Story" in one of their episode. Great moral lesson.

And after watching signal, I was hungry for crime drama that have a cute romance. The romance is not the focus, but it was cute enough and I am really contented.

    Just finished. Initial thoughts:
    1. It might be easy to assume this is like the American crime tv show "The Mentalist" or some other series where a genius outsider somehow ends up working with the police, and there definitely are a lot of similarities. To me, however, it ended up feeling more like "Dexter," which was my favorite tv series up until its last season or two. Luckily, "I Remember You" avoids Dexter's failing of not quitting while its ahead (indeed, we really need a second season, like, yesterday!).
    2. For once in my life, I could've lived without the romance plotline.
    3. I will freely admit that while "The Master's Sun" is in my top 3 favorite dramas of all time, I wasn't impressed by Seo In Guk in that show. This drama has made me into a solid fangirl of his. The entire cast was impressive in this series.
    4. Park Bo Gum: I'm about 3/4 of the way through "Moonlight Drawn by Clouds," and I started it before I started "I Remember You," and man, that kid can act. Except for the fact that they share the same handsome face, Jung Seun Ho & Prince Lee Young are so different that I would never have believed they were played by the same actor.
    5. The creepy is strong with this show. And I love it.

I first saw Seo In Guk in The Master's sun, and I also do not appreciate him back then, I think it is because of his character's development is lacking in that series. I tried avoiding his other drama.
Until I stumble with 38 task force, it is my first kdrama that I have watched that romance is not the focus of the story. First drama where SIG is the lead role. I fell hard for Seo In Guk, and I never looked at him the same way again.
Ma Dong Seuk with Seo In Guk. Just now I changed my rating of 38 Task Force from 9 to 10/10 realizing that they left a great impression to me. Since then I came to like nonromantic kdramas.

Also try his other drama, Reply 1997 and King of High School.. Although he portrays high school students there and also it was his early shows but he was good way back then.. I really love Seo In Guk and his shows.

I watched Knowing Brothers latest episode with EXO as special guest and they keep finding DO as creepy. They said that he will be good in good and evil character.. And I keep saying to myself that "He already did that. You shouldve watched I Remember You and be amazed to him".

This drama is really good. It has a lot of mystery but with a lot of subtlety. It does not shove it your face like, "Hello, this is a mystery drama."

I find Park Bo Gum really impressive here and this is the first time I recognized him.

Bo Gum didnt impress me in Love in the Moonlight. Here though, he was hands down amazing. His innocent face as he was discussing murder will forever be in my memory.

I actually watched it till the end because of the Psychopath Lee Jun Ho... He was such an interesting character! The love story was not that interesting and I liked that it was just a side topic. The bromance was heartwarming and sad. Didn't lead to marathoning but was a good drama

I think you should definitely watch it. The plot and characters are absolutely amazing.
Also, the thriller, crime and mystery parts are the main parts in the drama so it's really good and the romance takes only a small part.
Hope you decide to watch it

My guy friend accidentally watch it on my flash drive and he find it good and finished it.. I guess it is good even for man.. There is little romance here, it is more on crime and mystery, and the bromance is not something cringy, it's more on brotherly relationship..

Female detective seems to work hard which is good but it is so boring that she is so clueless..There were things she would have already thought to search by just watching a few cliche crime series...Maybe she was made that way because they want to polish how clever and pro the profiler guy is (and he is so, I do like him except that he is a jerk as a colleague) It's just I really would have enjoyed at least one quick-witted detective in this :/

This was really good, wonderful female lead, complex characters and issues of morality, a nuanced villain, great relationships especially the bromance but also the romance, just all around good writing and plot.

i remember i dropped this drama when it first came out. couldn't get past the first few episodes it was so lacking, the romance and all. i dunno whether picking it up again would change my view . i am a bit hesitant.

If you're into romance, I suggest that you should not watch this. Because actually there is really a small romance here..It is more on crime and investigation.. But this show is really good, the story plot and acting is great..

This drama is complex, thought-provoking and full of heart. The performances are excellent across the board. I've never felt so much sympathy for cold-blooded killers! And the music underscores everything perfectly. 10/10 would recommend.

i think the description on this should be changed cos the romance between them isn't the focal point at all lol its about the brothers and the case -- its misleading for people just watching this for a super romantic fix!

still i love this drama one of my favs <3 <3

I even consider myself one too (tho, more interested in ~emotional romance btwn chars than the usual "physical" stuff, as someone who's ace), & I think this actually had a great balance of focus on both main relationships.. I watched mainly for the cast, lol. But yeah, it's definitely not as ship-centric / overflowing with ~sap as like, Lucky Romance! ;P
