This movie is definitely not for someone who wants to watch something for thrills or obvious entertainment--it's a much subtler film.

The plot line, on the surface, deals with a young woman coming in to nanny for a rich family. Naturally, as you would expect from a movie like this, she gets in way to deep and begins an affair with the attractive, domineering husband. The story line then develops further from there and we are thrown into what we can only imagine is the shallow end of the lengths these people will go to to protect their image, their wealth, and their family.

The movie very intelligently weaves a cast of characters and a story that gives us an intriguing look into the world of the wealthy and the privileged. They get what they want, when they want it, and will stop at nothing for it.

The acting was superb. There was not a single actor/actress that I didn't believe in their portrayal of the character--even in the case of the child, and I have a hard time with child actors usually.

The cinematography and editing were wonderful. The director really knew how to play with angles and to give the viewer just enough to immerse us in the story but not so much that it overwhelmed our senses. The lighting perfectly suited the moods and the choices made for scenes were very smart.

Only one small thing bothered me at the climax, but mostly on the basis of physics and I didn't find it entirely necessary, but you can be the judge when you get there. This movie is also not suited for anyone who is sensitive when it comes to nudity and sex. There is definitely some of that in there.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I went in knowing that it was a movie I would need to think about and pay attention to--much like American Psycho, which seems superfluous if you don't get all the connotations behind it.

Go in with an open mind, and a thirst for intrigue, sex, and drama and you won't be disappointed.

When the movie finished my first thought was: "Well, this was pointless..."

The movie is completely disappointing. The "storyline" was like when you are reading a book and you accidentally skip a few pages and then feel lost, but this was like it skipped full chapters. The acting was sort of like a very bad makjang drama. I've seen some of the actors in dramas and this is not they usually act. So, maybe it was asked of them to do it this way. The housemaid, what did she do? What did she gain? I wish she would have done more, but I think she forgot and skipped right to the ending of her plan. The music was mediocre and forgettable. The ending... I can't even describe the scene since the only thing that comes up to my mind, for some reason, is that the "Addams Family" is normal in comparison to this family. This is a movie that shouldn't be watched once much less twice.

This won awards? Why?

This movie was definitely....interesting. When I came across it I thought it sounded promising with the talk of drama and thriller... It didn't prepare me for the awkward massive sex scene. Had I know about it, I probably would have skipped watching it with family. You can imagine my embarrassment.

Other than that the start of the movie does start out really dark and by dark I mean gosh damn what was the point of that? People are hella heartless. The storyline itself was very fast paced and left little room for breathing.

For a movie that was over a hour long I feel like it was over in the blink of an eye. Not sure if that is a good or bad thing. And while I can't stand a trashy ass homewrecker and a cheater, I don't think she deserved what happened to her. Dude that was seriously cold blooded. Which leads me to say, that ending... That's how you get stuff like the grudge. Thanks but no thanks.

Man I hate how there was no justice. If you really think about it... Which is oddly respectable too though because it's more true to real life. Not everyone gets a happy ending. Not everyone gets justice.

I realize this review is really terrible. Even as I write it, I'm like "wow this sucks". but y'all... It's been a hour and that ending still has me SHOOK! like... What the actual fuck. It was so dark and I'm still questioning, if that was her at the end... then who was the girl at the start of the movie? If they weren't the same, why was the first girl even shown? I have to many questions!

This movie is so disappointing that I have no words to describe it. The whole story lacks support. The acting is awful but I don't blame the actors..I'm sure it's the script. For the one that wrote this : even children can come with something better! I've completely wasted my time watching this.

I'm not going to say "I LOVED this movie" or "This is $##" because I think there is definitely a subtext to it that most people won't understand.
It is a re-make from a 1960's film, but this one is more based on class than the other. I think there is an underlying theme of emotion through the film, but it's not shown in the obvious way, that we are used to seeing.
It is an "art" film, and I say that based on the way the scenes are laid out and shot. There are scenes involving texture and foreshadowing, and it's not happy and bright.
I think the director more than anything is trying to show you the emotional side of things, from the dramatic beginning to the over dramatic ending.

Tho it’s a remake of the 1960 film, this boast adaptation to the current social ground. I think it is unique, decidedly sensual, risky pleasures, subtle, mysterious, thrilling.
Admirable acting from the artists, and exemplary production work is visible.

This film gives out a surreal sense of deranged domestic privilege with added mystery and subtle chaos.
The graphic sex scenes radiate an uncommon heat that is not typical for Korean film work.

The ending scene is similar to David Lynchland, won’t leave you breathless, tho it delivers a consistently odd angle.

This series may not be deserving of a 10 rating but definitely not deserving of anything less than a 5 in my opinion.
