Love this Princess Agents drama. Love the cast, specially the two main lead, Xinger and Yuwen Yue. This drama is really addicting and it makes you wondering what is going to happen next. I can't say much of the story line because of spoilers. Give this drama a try, you will not be disappointed. there are only 32 episodes that have been aired so far. I have rewatched them so many time already.

As Princess Agents is ongoing this review will be getting updated as I go through **

So far I love this drama it's characters are aces, plot progression though slow at times is well paced with information being told at good intervals. The OST's are amazing!!!! I love how everything is timed perfectly with each scene. Good action sequences and political aspects, strategic plans, scheming, inner and outer strength growing in our read more characters. Character growth is also really well done. Chemistry between all the characters is elegant, anticipated and well executed. The story line so far is absolutely one of my favorite C-Dramas up to date.

Okay that's where I'm at for now. Also even though I'm not finished I can say this with 100% certainty that I will be able to re-watch this series in the future as of today I have re-seen the first episode again.

If you want thoughts/reviews/slight recaps of episodes I have them up to episode 16.

WATCH THIS SHOW. It's in no way a regret. It may have a lot of episodes but the story and actors make it go by so fast :D Give it a try what do you have to lose? (An amazing experience of a show that's what lol)

Both dramas are surprisingly good.
The cutie Yue Qi from princess agents is the male lead in the eternal love.
The eternal love is a mini online series that can save y'all from the drama slump after watching princess agents.
Cuz we are all so tired out from Yu wen yue and Xinger's slowly brewed romance. The romance in the eternal love is like instant coffee. It will make you swoon cuz Yue Qi is about to teach his Yu Wen Yue how love is suppose to be done.

I know they're different genres since one revolves around war and the other about the injustices slaves go through, but there are A LOT of similarities.

-Both female leads start off as lowly maids even if they weren't originally and were actually part of a higher class (in Maids she loses her status and in PA she loses her memory).
-Both female leads fight for justice and especially for the rights of the poor.
-They are both alone against the whole world basically.
-A cold male lead that hardly ever smiles.
-Romance that is important but isn't, however, the main focus.
-Female lead falls in love with the second male lead and hates the male lead at first.
-Good second male lead that becomes evil and corrupted towards the end but he still loves the female lead.
-In both dramas there's a depiction of the lives of maids and slaves who are treated badly because of the powerful nobles.
-Female lead is strong and isn't crazy in love with anyone.
-Second female lead is a noble in Maids and a Princess in PA and is in love with the second male lead.
-Delusional second female lead who was once nice but became evil, trying to make the female lead's life a hell bc of her love for the second male lead.
-Awful noble people are present in both.
-Once the female lead begins to trust the male lead, she discovers something that makes her lose her trust in him.

I quess that is true love. He could not stand to lose her, and that something could happen to her. He did not mind to lose his life, as long as she is safe.

his love was beautifully reciprocated in the novel after the ice lake scene. That's enough for me for now.

I miss the drama even I dislike the open ending but in the novel CQ and YWY will be together so I am looking forward to season 2. Today news - that the director will negotiate the the original cast for season 2.

I don't know, all the news I read seemed to indicate that ZLY coming back was going to be practically impossible, and if ZLY isn't back nor is LGX. But I do hope that they do whatever concessions they need to do and give the actors everything they want so we can have the original cast back.

Also, one tiny hope is I did confirm what someone posted here earlier yesterday with some native Chinese speakers and they did say that what LGX posted on Weibo indicates a possibility for coming back: he did ask, "is it see you later or farewell forever," meaning there is a possibility of his returning as Yuwen Yue. So let us all send good thoughts to our drama gods for this to happen~~ (I know, first world problems but still... I feel so invested in Chu Qiao and Yuwen Yue). I feel like knocking on the producers doors when I'm next in China and asking why they mucked up the ending so much and to take responsibility! ;)

I still haven't watched episode 67 yet, I just cannot bring myself to watch the entire episode knowing how they ended the series (caught the last few minutes of the episode raw)...I'm with most of the commenters here, I feel like I just wasted half of my summer on such a poorly executed and directed show!! And it's a shame because all of the actors did such a phenomenal job!! I blame the director and the script writer, they are the ones that need to be pushed into that ice lake to freeze!!

I have been so depressed!!! Like I don't know how to get over it. The only thing that's gonna make it better is, if the director announce season two with all the original cast!

Yes I did notice the rating dropping...yesterday after seeing the last few minutes of the ending I did change my rating from a 10.0 to a 6.5. It was such a promising show and they screwed it all up with the ending.

He dies like the man in Titanic Died. All in all, I didn't like the drama but I was willing to give it a chance if it had a happy ending, well it didn't so.. He dies and she lives, simple.

Who would return to this garbage. An actor like Zhao Zanilia and Lin Geng Xin deserve to be in better dramas. I loved her in The Journey of Flower, but I can't seem to find the flare in her during this drama. It had a sad ending, glad I dropped it.

I can't write a proper review since technically I didn't finish the drama. I watched till ep 10, read some recaps, started watching again at ep 35 till 44, before skipping directly to the ending. I read the novel so I know what's supposed to happen. I won't dwell on things like why everyone loves Chu Qiao, i.e. plot points in the book (though I really do dislike it). I'm here just to complain about how the drama was a huge mess.

Honestly, the whole book can take 60 episodes to finish, but they only shot about half the content. This is extremely perplexing from my perspective. The whole servants tiff shouldn't have extended for nearly half the drama, and this would have quickened the pace. I'm not sure if the reason is because Lin Geng Xin is a bigger star than Shawn Dou, and so to give more weight to his character they had to emphasise more on Chu Qiao's beginnings as Xing Er. Imo, if they were planning on only filming half the book, the lead guy should have been Yan Xun, and they could have given the character to LGX. If they wanted LGX to be Yuwen Yue, they should have adapted the entire novel.

The production company wanted to milk money and in the end gave us something which was complete crap. This is just infuriating. I wonder if Princess Agents shared the same production company as General and I because it certainly seems so. Let's not even talk about the green screens. The trailers looked fantastic, but the real thing was so disappointing that I feel sad for Zhao Li Ying. She's the only one to lose out since both guys gained tons of fans but she has to bear the brunt of the hate for she can rise no higher.

EDIT: I seriously doubt a second season will happen with the same cast since ZLY's schedule is packed. Even if they wanted to bring the cast back they'll have to wait, and with how poorly received the first season was the sequel is unlikely to receive the same hype. With all the criticisms the show is receiving, the actors are unlikely to entertain thoughts of returning as well. They are well sought after anyway and ZLY has Ming Lan (produced by Zheng Wu Yang Guang) coming up.

Very interesting point of view. I do agree with a lot too. However, I don't think that the show itself was poorly received, just the ending. I am highly critical of shows but I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy it. Yes, the ending episodes were quite a rushed jumble but if they were to release a second season with the same cast- the same episode that feels so horribly disappointing right now will turn into a great finale.
While I myself feel extremely cheated, I do think that the show's good moments shouldn't be discredited because of the ending. Or maybe, I just haven't wrapped my head around the fact that it's really the end. I just somehow feel so sure that there will be more to it. Am I delusional? :")

The show itself is not well received in China, though it's still a hit ratings wise. It's poorly paced and the production quality is terrible for its budget. It's viewed in a slightly more positive light by the international community, but I've personally heard mostly criticisms. It's not just the ending. Most people dropped it after the backyard politics, some managed to trudge through to the rebellion, the rest who watched it in its entirety are pissed because of the finale.

Disappointing ending but i kinda expected it. I'm totally fine. as long as the original casts -especially the main leads will reprise their roles for the 2nd season, if there really is a second season - hoping and praying or I'll be left heartbroken for a long long time.

Hahaha that's literally exactly what I did too!! My original rating for this show as a 10.0, but after seeing the last few minutes of the ending I dropped it to a 6.5 and I see that lots of us did the same thing because I'm seeing a drop in the overall rating.

I signed up for a masterpiece and I thought I made a good decision for the first 40 epiaodes but then the last 20 episodes happened and I pulled through it because I had already wasted too much time.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is why people think Eternal Love is one of the best chinese dramas.

    • Reply
      SueLee 15 days ago

Yup couldn't agree with you more...Eternal Love still won out because it was beautifully directed and executed from beginning to end...this show went into the gutter half way through...so much screen time wasted on non-important subplots and the main plot points never got thoroughly explored!!
