The story of a beautiful queen, who has to give up her love to save the people. A biopic of Queen Seondeok, who was born a princess and later became the ruler of Silla, leaving behind many brilliant achievements.
loved this!! I think this was the only series wherein I liked all the characters even the antagonists!! Almost all of the main characters were so smart and wise that it was so entertaining to watch their political wars and power struggles especially Deokman's and Mishil's fight for the throne. At first, I didn't like the character of Deokman but as the story progressed, I found myself admiring her and cheering for read moreher success.
I only have two complaints for this drama though; first was the romance side of it. I didn't really like the characters that were paired with her. I didn't hate them, I just found myself rooting for an alcheon x deokman pairing all throughout even though I very well knew that it wouldn't happen. Hehe... Anyway, I'm just in the minority so you might actually like the love story part of it since most people do. :)
My 2nd complaint was the ending. I just think that they could have ended it better. I know the number of episodes was actually extended from its original plan but somehow the ending felt a little rushed and it seemed like there were missing scenes that should have been shown.
However, all in all, I think this was a great historical drama that left a deep impression on me. Plus, the soundtrack is good! It added to the tension and excitement of the drama!
unforgetable, Just love this drama...I really liked the child's acting who played for the role of deokman..and i really liked the character of mishil (My fav character) but no doubt each and every actor/actress was amazing,62 episode seems boring?? No not at all, every episode captures your heart and make you watch more and more..even i have downloaded all episodes and whenever i get bored i just play it and enjoy it.Just read morehoping for some new drama like that..
Both dramas have a protagonist that is very strong and figths for what she belives. Both princesses need to live in a world made for the men. They'll need to search for the power to make their people happiness.
They both have: smart female protagonists who dress up as men in the beginning of the story; intricate planning and court intrigue as they battle their way to the top; multiple love interests; etc.
Empress Ki is a much better fighter than Queen Seon Duk as an individual, but Seon Duk was up against a more intelligent foe and had some brilliant planning.
Just started. I just was itching for a sageuk!! I watch one every 4 or 5 series. Never back to back. Last one was Six Flying Dragons. Already watched Empress Ki. Had to start this one. I think I'm going to love it.
I really have to applaud Korean entertainment for manipulating history in this way and making a genius/creative story out of it. I'm happy I finally watched this drama. 8.5 BUT I'll give it a 9 because I finally checked it off my check list.
Worth every episode these 2 Queens are awesome role models for sociopath feminist. That psycho bitch Mishil in all her bad ass bitchy glory with her amazing eye brow twitch. But to her surprise she has met her match in our awesome deokman Queen Seon fucking Duk battle it out for the Royal Throne so exciting to see two bad ass female leads having all the SEXY AS FUCK men in this drama bow down bitches. LADIES EYE CANDY EVERYWHERE!
Jesus Christ. I finished it and the last episode made me cry so hard I was gasping for air the entire time. If only Bidam had trusted her </3 I didn't even like his character half the time because I couldn't figure out if he was good or evil, but I think he's just too insecure and easily swayed by others unfortunately. His death scene was so sad. The ending was so incredibly sad as well. In the end she just wanted to live as a woman and not a ruler. Oh my heart! I need a break from sageuks now, I'm too sad. Haha.
I love this show. The power struggle between Doekman and Mishil is amazing to watch. I'm currently at episode 40 and this show has not yet disappointed me. I'm in love with the political intrigue. I'm always biased against the antagonists in dramas, but I've become quite fond of mishil- I don't LIKE her because she's the villain, but her evilness is actually making the princess stronger. I love that they seem to respect each other even though they are enemies. The only person I HATE is the purple hwarang dude Seok Pum, just seeing his face pisses me off so much. He's not even cleverly evil like Mishil, he's just a thorn in my eye. Ugh I truly dislike that dude.
i have seen deep rooted tree and i didnt quite like it coz it's too slow and the plot is predictable. can someone pleaseee tell me if this drama is way better. maybe ive been disappointed because i watched SFD prior to these dramas and every bit of it is amazing so im kinda hoping for the same quality hm
i'm not giving up yet, if that helps! Unless something is really awful, i usually give it a lot of chances. With so many eps in this, it has me worried that about how long its gonna take to capture my full attention.
Oh God! I was going to say I'd give this a shot without much expectations, especially after having just finished Ruler of the Mask, which I loved but made me wanna get into modern-day dramas again. Then I realized it had 62 episodes, and thought it's over.. And then I saw Yoo Sung Ho's name on the actors list.. Ahh, eottoke.. Well, not watching for now; but one day, if I'm in the mood, and really, really bored, I miiiight check it out. Thank you all for taking your time to write answers !! Have a great day (:
EDIT: Queen for 7 days sounds interesting, adding it to my list
@harukae - I am watching both Ruler of Mask and Queen for 7 Days. To give you my benchmark, I'd say that Qfor7Days was compelling instantly from the first ep. Its never had a slow moment, and the passion, angst, and acting by al the leads is at least twice as better, if not 5x better. It swooped in and became my number 1 show.
