Touching. Romantic. Lovely. Addicting in a slow, pensive way. This drama is a little wonder, one I fell in love with without a clear reason: it's not sparkling, the action is reduced to the bare minimum, and so are words. But there's an intensity in the long silences which makes the unspoken a lot louder than whatever is being said.

Most of it is due to the excellent cast. I knew Ueto read more Aya from Attention Please and loved her there: she was the reason why I watched that drama and the only reason why I completed it. There she was feisty and entertaining, here she plays the role of a disillusioned young woman, wary of men - who can blame her? - and in desperate need of warmth and a sense of belonging. Her acting is outstanding, one can't help falling in love with her fragility, her courage and beauty.
Takenouchi Yutaka is just as awesome. His character is that of an honest man who leads a simple life but is ready to go to any length in order to save his sister. He's so sedate throughout the whole drama, I expected him to burst out at some point. But he didn't, and I realize now this is what makes him into such an endearing character. He expresses a world of meaning via glances and silences: I loved it.
The encounter between Risa and Kengo is poignant and their interaction from that point on is always defined by a sedate fire. Nobody shouts, or desperately cries or have fits of anger, and yet the chemistry is powerful.
I don't think it's accidental that Matsuda Shota speaks in a very sedate and calm way too through the whole show. This is the imprint of Nagareboshi. Just like the beautiful jellyfishes that float around in the aquarium. I never thought I could come to consider jellyfishes such beautiful creatures.
The side cast is just as brilliant, mostly the women.

The photography deserves a mention too. There are some truly outstanding sceneries of Japan shown in this drama. I was captivated by the colours and the general atmosphere. I love it that Japanese can produce wonderful dramas without the pomp and the shine we have been accustomed to with the usual super stars sporting gorgeous outfits or your average hero under the shower. This is a simple yet complicated love story between two very average people. It could be us.

The music is beautiful, although not my genre. I usually prefer instrumental pieces in dramas, so I don't really care much for songs. But it suits the pace and the feel of the drama perfectly.

If you like well acted, slow developing stories without love triangles or squares, played on style more than actual happenings, this drama is for you. I suppose it's for mature viewers - and I'm not referring to age.

Story- Touching story of a brother who would do anything to save his sister. This includes marrying a girl for her liver. The romance is subtle but sweet. There is a bit of sadness in there. Everyone gets a happy ending though. I liked that this wasnt a romance where it was twisted and had a tragic ending.

Acting/Cast- The leads had great chemistry. Everyone acted in their roles well. I didn\''\''t read more like Aya in Attention Please but she proved me wrong in this drama. I liked that the male lead was so sweet and nice. The brother was a jerk throughout as the villian but he redeems himself in the end.

Music- Very nice score that went along with the mood of the drama.

Rewatch- Its one to rewatch but not right away.

Overall- This is a touching drama that the actors carry with thier wonderful acting.

both dramas are beautiful and realistic, and also have a message :)

Similar premise of guy marrying a girl to solve a family member's health problem.

In both dramas, the hero is much older than the younger female main lead.

Rewatching this drama. I think it was one of the first j-dramas I watched. So touching and has a deep story. Every time I see this I hate the brother more and more.

This drama really shows Aya Ueto's wonderful range as an actress. Breaking out of the cute personas really suits her better despite what she's famous for. She carries tortured/melancholy/heavy drama fantastically and her performance in Nagareboshi is totally immersive. Risa, rough around the edges with a hidden heart of gold, is probably one of the most complex, well-written heroines to emerge in a J-drama. I think Nagareboshi could be worth the watch just for her character.

"Sigh" I was expecting a lite drama like how these reviews keep saying but no drama after drama. Something about this show just gets on my nerves idk what it is maybe the fact that every body pauses 10 seconds between each word or how everyone's lying about something idk but this is just not for me.

So can we talk about how the brother has no purpose but to f*ck everything up? Like he doesn't even have a motive he's just trash for no reason. It's honestly just lazy at least have the villain have a reason to be evil but this dude just destroys his sisters life over and over again for no reason.

      It's tagged 'mature', which is a genre I avoid...What can I expect?

I think it might be because of the nature of the main heroine's occupation. She's a sex worker but there's actually nothing explicit enough to warrant the 'mature' tag in my opinion. In fact, it really shouldn't be on there. You're good to go :-)

I watched this drama because I received several recommendations on contract relationships' dramas. And as they said it was kind of similar to Contract Marriage (kdrama), but I think only the premise is the same, the drama development for me was different.
This drama is a drama that flows slowly but with a good narrative, every episode is easy to watch and very understandable. I really like the platonic relationship between Kengo and Risa, and how they started to understand each other without having to use words.
The only character that I didn’t quite get was Risa’s brother, it was kind of unclear to me what his real intentions were, and what was he thinking at the final episode. I don’t know if the writer wanted us to get our own conclusion about him, but I was left quite confused about him.
On the other side I just loved to pieces Maria’s relationship with Ryota <3 and I’m really glad they included that in the drama.

I agree with you, Inagaki Goro does know how to play the bad guy. I think he did a good job with his character.

I am not into sad dramas atm but despite of that, there is something in this drama that will make you watch till the end. It very relatable, especially if you are in your late 20's early 30's and still finding your true love. It is not a heavy drama, but it is sad and passive. Find out how the roles of Ueto Aya and Takenouchi Yutaka fell in love :)
