Y'all, I am honest to goodness NOT okay right now. I have sobbed myself into a complete frenzy .

When I first started this show, I thought it was your genuine original "slice of life" cute drama or whatever. I didn't look much into the show really because the cover pulled me in. I know, I need to stop picking things based on their covers. While I hated this show with a passion, I loved it too. I can't not love it. The story is so fucking beautiful it hurts. The only reason I hate it is because ... well.... if you've seen it, you know. If you haven't seen it ------have a box of tissues ready and make sure you have something to muffle your sobs.

Originally I didn't like Mika. I mean I did, but didn't. She was such a sweet character that you can't help to love her. She is kinda like that friend or sister you always want to protect because she is so pure. But.... there were times when I really got sick of her and wanted her to grow a freaking backbone. It really drove me nuts seeing her kicked around his Hiro's ex. Like gosh damn, throw a punch or something. But I give her props I guess, when the last shoe dropped, she fought back with words and proved to her no matter what she did, she would never get Hiro back. Straight facts.

Hiro on the other hand, I didn't like at first. Lol he really reminded me of the typical guy that people fall over themselves for because he is the "bad buy". I really thought he was going to be like in the other shows where he was just going to be a asshole non-stop and she was just going to love him. But that changed pretty fast and it kept me sus towards him. lol I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop, but it really didn't. And can we just talk about how he always protected Mika? Like against EVERYONE. Didn't matter who you were, guy or female, you mess with Mika, you get your ass kicked. Lol I stan a protective man.

Spoilers ahoy, sorry!

When Mika told him she was pregnant, I honest to gah thought that when he left, he was gone. I didn't expect him to come back. When he did, my jaw literally dropped. Especially seeing how happy he was. I was like.... something ain't right, dudes would be running at this point. But him running out to buy that was so fucking cute. And he spent so long trying to get her parents approval. Just... ugh my heart. So when they lost the baby I just couldn't handle it. I cried my eyes out. I really wanted to see them grow up and raise the baby. THIS SHIT HURTED!!!

The storyline was so beautiful even when he broke up with her to protect her. I won't lie though I had really weird vibes from Yuu. I don't know if it was the persistent "get in my car. I have a car. I'll take you home. want a ride?" Like dude O_O she said no. Stop. Lol... I know in the long run, he meant well. And over time he did grow on me. I thought they would make a cute couple but I knew it just wasn't the same.

Can you imagine how rare Mika and Hiro's love is though? Honestly. They are they kind of love that, she will forever be in his family. Even if she were to marry someone else, she would still be loved and adored by Hiro's family. And whoever she married, will always be second. Even to her own family, Hiro would be before the new guy, because he made that much of a impact on everything. This kind of love is so rare, which is sad. Even more sadder: seems to ALWAYS end in tragedy.

I won't lie, I am SUPER confused about that ending. I know the two kids have to be her sisters, but the little girl clearly calls her mommy.... Was this in her head? Did she meet someone new and have a baby? Was she pregnant again before he passed away? I just have so many questions about this. But call me nuts, I want to believe it's Hiro's kid. Because ... everything the kids is wearing relates to Mika and Hiro. from the flower crown to the dolls she is holding, so it feels like they are implying? Or I'm just nuts. lol

So I want to say, if you're looking for a show to watch to pass the time, it ain't this one, chief. This is the kind of show when you are already broken and you want to sob your heart out completely. This is not the kind of show to take lightly. Lol This is level of A Walk to Remember and The Fault In Our Stars level of heartshatter.

I was worried when I began to watch this show because I was afraid that it wouldn't live up to my expectations. But, it proved to be neither good nor terrible.

The story starts off a little weak and it takes the entire first episode to suck you in, but it succeeds. The story was cliche although the main characters were a bit different from what we usually see. The main guy- Hiro is very strange looking but Mika is the typical girl-next-door. Though it was sort of a mini-series than a regular length drama, the plot went on smoothly and whatever the duration of the show was, every character developed but I found it to be boring.

At times, the story is difficult to stand and I found myself struggling to stay interested. I think all the actors showed their emotions well on-screen. I especially liked the actress who played Mika. The worst side plot of all was the teen pregnancy. I was annoyed by the whole episode. It all seemed a little too farfetched. The only thing saving this drama is that although it is supposed to be a 'tragedy' not everything ended badly. For example, I would have hated if the parents would have got divorced. Thankfully that didn't happen so +1 for that.

This drama could have been shortened by an episode's length because the ending was obvious after episode 4. I had to just glance through Hiro's struggle for survival and it wasn't at all interesting to watch. People everywhere on the internet advice to keep a box of tissues before watching it, but I wasn't all that moved except for a rare few scenes. I am all used to it because of watching Bollywood and so it ended being an overrated cliche for me. For those who aren't very used to Bollywood or only watch comedy might be touched by it.

During the entire course of the show, I was very happy with the direction. Some terribly boring parts were able to be portrayed well so that means the director is quite talented. Even the cinematography was quite good throughout but when they kept shooting in the same places, it got tiresome. And as for the music- there was only one song being played repetitively in every episode but it was a very good one. It sounded good and even the background score was done well.

But this show has no rewatch value. It is depressing to watch and isn't something that would provide you with entertainment. My biggest complaint is that the show was dull throughout and hardly had any light moments for a quick laugh.

So- if you are up for something different and aren't afraid of trying out new stuff then this is definitely the one for you.

So... I feel as though I'm among the only one here that didn't bawl my eyes out?? Of course, it was sad, and i teared up a few times, but it wasn't enough to really have me crying... maybe because it was too predictable, or too common of a storyline in dramas.

The Story: It starts off weak. The acting wasn't so good at first, and the storyline was just weird and rushed. The characters were all annoying and weak, and they seem like the typical "teenagers." However, throughout the drama, the storyline improves and becomes more organized and touching. If you look at if from the surface, it may seem really dumb and sappy, but if you really dig into the events, there's so much more to it. It really requires a lot of thinking. There were some things that were touched upon but never mentioned again, which I kind of wanted them to do.

Acting/Cast: Like I mentioned before, the acting starts off weak, but it gradually gets better as the story goes on. I particularly like the character development and growth: the mean ones learn their lessons, the weak protagonist grows to be strong, etc. As well, the characters were actually played by people that are the same age as them, which is something you don't see too often. It gives the school environment a much more realistic feel.

Music: Asides from the main theme, i don't think there were any other songs, though the instrumental tracks played at nice time. I didn't find any of them memorable, but, my goodness, the main theme is heart wrenching, from the lyrics to the melody and aching voice of the singer.

Overall, it was a crazy ride! I had moments where I just wanted to drop this drama, but after digging more deeper, I found that it was pretty well written. I though it would've been nicer if it had been longer, but I'm glad the storyline didn't drag on. I probably wouldn't watch it due to its predictability and how sad it is, but this is one any romance lover should check out!

One of the first J-Drama make you fall hard!

I watched long time ago actually but from time to time I'd re-watch. Not sure how I get into this drama but what I felt - when I first J-Drama, it's so raw and every scene fit nicely. What need to be explain, explained well and no even slightly of feeling draggy! I cried hard for this drama - actually lots of J-Drama really too raw, realistic and make u cry alot T__T I'm very happy to came across this drama :D

I love the chemistry of the casts, the songs and the plot. Even I change my phone several times, I never failed to download the OST song - I couldn't recall whether this is my very 1st J-Drama or not but its' definitely the one make me continue to look more JDrama after this one. <3

Koizora has been still one of my favourite stories. I've watched drama and movie and I have to admit I like the movie more. There are some things which were showed in another way and, of course, the cast was totally different.. On the other hand, the drama could present more, what makes me happy. Hiro always will be my hero, though the sick changed him, he is still amazing.

What are tears at this point? T_T

Even though this drama is not the best, and their relationship moved so fast in an unrealistic way, I still felt every single emotion! I laughed and cried a lot with them.

Hiro's story is really inspiring. He was never weak and neither was Mika. I wish it had more episodes to flesh out Mika and Hiro's relationship, These actors did an amazing job bringing the story to life.

I've read the manga and really enjoyed it. I may read the novel the drama is based on at some point as well. I am that attached to it I guess.

OMGosh, I said I wasn't going to cry but I so cried. Thank you for bringing cancer awareness to this movie. Both leads did great. The love chemistry was there. The ups and downs one goes through when cancer comes into their life. The teen pregnancy they experienced and having a miscarriage that young of an age. The only thing that I didn't hear was when the ex-girlfriend shoved her down the stairs had a lot to do with the miscarriage. I wished the writers amplified that somewhat. I loved the characters' names Hiro and Tahara Mika... great baby names. I've been trying to view the Jpop group he plays in but couldn't find any of their performances. If that is him singing at the end, I love his vocals. Thank you to all the cast and the writers.

Beautiful story. Lovely, young cast. A story about young love, true love. Also the Ost was the first Japanese song I learnt. I love the movie version as well but I love this drama version just a little bit more as story is not rushed and there is ample time for your emotions to built up.

Years later after I watched this drama, the very same story unfolded in front of my eyes. People who have commented that the story of this drama sounds farfetched are really lucky, because they didn't have to see something like this happen. But also they are really unlucky, because although it is sad and painful, it is also beautiful.

It's not that I don't see the cons. Every time I rewatched I did see the imperfections which I had not noticed the first time. But at the end what matters is how the drama made me feel. Did I get moved? Yes, each time.

This is my first Japanese drama review I will be writing. Koizora you could say is my breakthrough drama for jdramas and my god I’m glad had this drama. I’ve read lots of manga for romance and I was addicted to them so having a drama which can give me the same feelings were amazing.

The two main characters in “Koizora” were both in their own ways inspiring.

First off Hiro, he may seem rough around the edges on the outside but on the inside he is one of the sweetest characters in this show. I liked how upbeat and caring he was and once he met Mika, his life was basically all about her. Hiro wasn’t Hiro without Mika you could say. When it came to the point of the story where he got diagnosed with cancer, he decided to make Mika hate him and break up with her so she doesn’t get upset over his illness and didn’t want her to be in pain. This says a lot about Hiro’s character as he just wants Mika to be happy, Mika even got a new boyfriend but Hiro was fine as long as Mika was happy. When Hiro was facing his last seconds the last thing he wanted to see was Mika smiling at him in which was so saddening to see. Even though they so earnestly wanted to be with each other, fate had something else in mind and took Hiro away.

Mika is the prime definition of character development. At first she was a sheltered child who thought she didn’t want anything else in life but when she met Hiro her life changed and she started wishing for happiness with another person. When Mika conceived a child with Hiro she was so mature with it and wanted to keep it with Hiro but unfortunately she had a miscarriage due to being pushed down on the floor by Saki which is very sad. In the last episode we see Saki at the end of the show pregnant and Mika asked if she could touch it and said I hope you grow up well which says so much about her and shows how mature she is.

One of the things I love in this drama was how supportive the parents were in this, even when Maki was pregnant they supported her even if it took them a while to accept it. They wholeheartedly supported Maki and Hiro’s relationship which is very rare for some dramas based in Asia. I’m used to watching kdramas and for some reason there is this stupid trope to where parents are just so unreasonable so that’s what I like about jdramas over kdramas.

The OST in Koizora was very fitting for this type of drama. I loved the main theme that played at the end of each episode which added emotion to the episode. Also the instrumentals were all also very good.

Overall I loved this drama and it was a very good gateway drama to get into Japanese dramas and I will get definitely watch more in the future.

Originally published on a popular cell phone site, "Koizora" has captured millions of hearts around the world with it`s heart-breaking Love-Story. I watched this drama and was hooked from the start. Mika is a sweet girl who goes through happiness and later on hardships throughout high-school. The innocent shelter around her disappears when she captures the heart of Hiro, a rough popular guy who stands out with his bleached hair. But his Golden Heart is what captured me as it captured Mika. His characterization are most put out in this drama than it did in the movie or the manga (i haven`t read the original novel) which is also why i love this drama adaption more.

The other adaptions are simply terrible for me. In this drama he is extremely possessive and protective of Mika, even willing to go as far as killing another person for her. He is simply one of my favourite on-television heroes ever, and Mika with her passion and strength i simply adored her. Mika and Hiro together joins into a journey where they experience the most truth in pain, passion, jealousy, and the beauty of love. It has its drama and angst, and the ending made me cry rivers...so much like never before. I love Mika and Hiro so much, and their pure undying love totally undid me.!

I literally never cry during movies and dramas. I never cry, even if the entire theatre is. This drama had me crying in episodes 3, and 6 it was that powerful.

I was told this drama is a true tear jerker, and that to proceed with caution. I ended up marathoning it in two days.

It's a rather simple story of highschool sweethearts, through their ups, downs, and all sorts of other events, persisting through it all. This drama will have you rooting for people, crying, even hating a few people. It has it all.

I didn't like the pacing, it was REALLY fast since it's only 6 episodes. Be prepared for significant, but marked, time skips. And be prepared for about 2-3 drama moments per episode that will have you crying your heart out.

I was hesitant to start watching, but I'm so glad I finished it. I will most likely be rewatching in the future with friends, and a tissue box handy.
