School dramas are definitely my favorite kind, but this one was special.
Mostly centered on the rise and fall of an unfixable friendship, it doesn't stretch out the same one plot for sixteen episodes risking to make it lame and repetitive. Different stories are told, just like different stories happen in one high school class. Each of these plots lead back to friendship in the end, but none of them is like read more the previous one, as they all touch a second different topic, reminding us we're never the only ones who suffer although not everyone has to face the same kind of hardship we're going through.
This drama is original, true, bitter, at times shocking, but also inspiring, hopeful and fun like the age of its protagonists.
I appreciate the complete absence of romance, not because i don't enjoy it but because it's a nice change in kdramas standards.
At times it seems ridiculous the ability this school has to find a reason to expell someone every other day, but nevertheless the screenplay keeps the suspence up until the very last minute.
And there's no reason to deny or hide it: the bromance will kill you over and over again.
This drama is a jewel.

Ok let me get started with one of he best dramas that HAS NO ROMANCE (I know shocked right especially for being a romance buff)! To all you people who love romance in everything and don't really know whether to watch this or not let me put your heart at ease.....:watch the dang thing or regret it! Lol not to be too harsh..... It is an amazing drama!
The acting was phenomenal, read more the characters were so well oriented with each other and the actors all seemed to be living the life of the character as they were on screen! I cried for all the right reasons watching this drama and I might even watch it again so that I can get that feeling! The bromance was so well developed that it maybe sometimes gave me this big goofy smile that I usually wear when I see the main couple interacting it's each other in other dramas! Haha! Nam Soon and heung soo are seriously he best ones in this drama! Also the teacher student relationships are really unique and also described perfectly!
The story it elf is a deal brake because all these school dramas that we love to watch no matter how much we dream they aren't really realistic, even though they dramafy everything in this drama this stuff happens at school everyday and we all know it! This school drama Is perfect and I know the some of you who don't want to go through a school drama are missing out on every thing you have ever wanted to watch.
All In all this drama is with every second and very tissue that you use! Even for those of us who like romance don't miss out on this show amazing actIng and an amazing storyline! I believe you people will savor evey second of it!!!!!

the only kdrama with no love triangle or love story, no 2nd lead syndrome, no bitchy 2nd female lead and is still worth watching...

Okay, I read the synopsis above and someone needs to change it. I finished the drama and that synopsis doesn't d it justice... it doesn't even make that much sense.

Okay... I don't know how to start. First, like most of the fans, I LOVE THE BROMANCE in this series... more than NamSook and Heung Soo ... I like how friendship were made in the later part of this series. I also like how they tackle about real struggles of students. This drama made me cry a few times because I can relate to the issues presented. The casts acting was nothing spectacular but it was on point.
Lastly, contrary to most negative comments, this drama is NOT BORING.
IT'S SO DAMN FRUSTRATING. I meant it in both good and bad ways. Like it's good frustrating that you can relate to the characters but s damn bad frustrating in a sense that it prolongs certain scenes. There are times when I would fast forward some scenes and just get to the part where everything was resolve. Characters in this drama seriously need to speak up their mind. They are so frustrating to watch.
But anyways, if you can get past that issue, you're good to go and watch this drama.
It will make you smile and cry. Good way.
Except that ending.. fudge that ending... don't leave me hanging like that... give me a close ending.. damn it!

I lived for the bromance scences ! <3
Other than that I found the drama to be a bit boring, and too slow.

so ... i would consider myself a pretty loyal Lee Jong Suk fan. I've watched most of his more recent works ... Is School 2013 a must see? I've heard great things about Lee Jong Suk's BROMANCE with Kim Woo Bin?! Is it worth it?

i'm 9 eps in and i mean i know there is technically no romances in this but nam soon and heung soo are pretty......intense. I would loved to have seen a drama with just them and their "bromance"

Started this over the weekend and am 4 episodes deep. A couple things...

    - Coming off Baby-Faced Beauty recently, it's cute to see Daniel Choi and Jang Na Ra at each other's throats here. Great casting, since these two play off each other really well, romance or no.

    - Thus far, Hyo Young is my favorite "new" actor in the show (meaning, an actor/actress I haven't yet seen in anything, personally). Perhaps it's because she's younger than her costars, but she brings a buoyancy to her role that is missing in the other student characters. Plus, I love the tomboy haircut and attitude.

    - Watching this alongside W, I sure am seeing a lot of LJS getting bloodied up. He does action well, though, as both shows prove. However, I had no idea that this was Lee Jong Suk's first ever Main Role in a 16-episode drama. Considering Doctor Stranger was my 3rd-ever drama, I just finished W, and Pinocchio is one of my all-time favorites, this feels pretty awesome to be able to go back to and see early LJS.

    - Not particularly impressed with Park Se Young's acting so far, as she feels a bit like a female Jung Gyu Woon (ie, one facial expression the whole time). However, knowing that she is 25 and playing a 16/17 year old high school student is impressive, since I completely believe that she's a teenager here. She's one of the oldest actors playing a student in the whole show.

"SCHOOL 2013", a 16-episode Korean drama, is more than satisfying. I love slice-of-life dramas and this one is filled with candid and warm feelings mixed with youthful fun and conflicts. "School 2013" is one of the few dramas I put in my Favorites list. Overall, it's 10/10. I miss it already. If you enjoyed God of Study, then you'll surely love this one.

But let me point this out. This school is really scary. I had never been to a school as violent as the ones I've seen in Korean dramas. The parents seem like the ones controlling the school system. What?! Parents are even sniffing on what should be the type and/or level of questions in tests. And students command and disrespect teachers. Alas, the teachers seem afraid of them. It's depressing!!! I hope the real situation in Korean schools is not as dire as they portray on TV.
