JBR is the best Makjang drama I have seen. It uses all of the Korean drama cliches/troupes from amnesia to birth secrets. The family mix is great. There are so many moms and grandmas that it is just funny. There are a few useless and somewhat lame bi-stories, but they don't take too much time. What makes this great is that the liars and schemers are never truly happy and constantly afraid read more they will be found out. Most everyone has a secret. It is over the top acting with a ridiculous story line at its best.

The actors are great. All of the acting is a little over the top...so don't expect it to be realistic. There are some great veteran actors in this drama. However, Lee Yoo Ri totally stole the show. She takes crazy to a new level as Min Jung. She wears this thick bright red lipstick that is just way too much which goes perfectly with her character. Her ending is better than the endings for most "bad guys". Everyone else is good in this too. Kim Ji Hoon plays a totally adorable Lee Jae Hwa that acts kind stupid, but isn't. I like that the romance between him and Jang Bo Ri (Oh Yeon Seo) is consistent once it starts. Strangely enough, Bo Ri isn't the center of the story to me although the drama is named after the character. My favorite relationship dynamic was between Moon Ji Sang (Sung Hyuk) and Bi Dan. Kim Ji Young is just the cutest little thing. I worried about Bi Dan from beginning to end.

The music is fine.

I probably won't rewatch this, but it is rewatchable.

I know some people don't like this kind of drama, but I enjoy them. If you like them, then JBR is definitely a must watch.

At first I was really thinking this drama was trying to put in their plot all the kinds of cliches that all dramas have. And well, this drama indeed is a big cliche, but still it manages to get your attention every episode. The story seems too long sometimes, but I think they only wanted to really develop the plot, not rushing it. The comedy is good, the drama is nice and read more the romance is cute. Some characters are lovely and some are really hateful, and at some point you are cheering and hoping for things to get in their place soon because there are those characters who just deserve to get all the happiness it was being taking from them since the beginning. Until now (only episode 36 were released until now) it is being really worth it to watch this drama, I don't usually like these long dramas, but this one is being very nice to follow. All the characters and their roles get the propper focus and I think they won't leave any side story unresolved until the end.

Similar story family drama, one female is nice and all about love, justice etc and another female is extreme ambition, jealousy, hate etc. Their paths cross and one begins to take things away from the other with lies, deceit and all other cliched stuff.

Both are 50 episode dramas with the same female antagonist Lee Yoo Ri

Her Legend is about making bags while Come Jang Bori is about hanboks...both are Makjang dramas where the 2nd lead tries to take the female leads place in her family & tries every trick to win over her talent...the male lead in both is the playful heir who's always their to rescue the female lead!

I'm glad that MBC chose not to drop makjang! I enjoyed this from beginning to end (except for that 'mole-faced' MJ doppelganger business). And yes, karma is a biatch!

Now all that's left is to see how Lee Yoo Ri & Kim Ji-Young (Bi Dan) make out when it's time for awards.

ok that STUPID idea ( look alike but with MOLE!!!!!!!!!!!) i was expecting better ending this was not so much, the same writer did great job in Five Fingers but in this one not so good. i don't pity her at all and her karama was nothing. i hate the ending, they dragged so much and i wished they stick with 50 episodes or in my opinion 20 episodes because the same story again and again nothing new.

hey guys wanted to ask how would you compare this drama with lee soon shin is the best?? i mean LS is a drama with lots of family love romance love but also makjang. the more i hear about jang bori it seems makjang is the mainpoint till the last episodes.. if its like that i wont like it i think.. so PLEASE help me

Jang Bo Ri is makjang central, basically. Mama drama, resident evil Min Jung knows nothing but to try and ruin people's lives (especially Bo Ri's, who according to Min Jung, is to blame for everything ever), several nonsense characters who will make you want to pull your hair off, BUT also some cute couple moments, an awesome character called Moon Ji Sang and Oh Yeon Seo/Lee Yoo Ri being great.

I dropped Lee Soon Shin because I couldn't stand several characters, so I find Jang Bo Ri a lot more entertaining in that aspect and I never felt like dropping. Just try to not get too involved and watch for the sake of having fun watching crazy people and crazy plots. Your call.

      No problem!

In terms of character development, I find Jang Bo Ri's (the character) very interesting, even if underrated. The evilness takes over a lot in this drama because the writer/team realized that factor was bringing good ratings.

Ultimately, it isn't a total nonsense watch, but prepare yourself for some extreme ups and downs, just in case you decide to watch :)

This is a complete Makjang...very different from LS...with crazy villains, vengeful characters, idiotic female lead, birth secrets...etc...in a way or another...this is much more entertaining to watch...at least it isn't so boring like LS...
I think the only thing that might be a bit common is the male lead character...funny, hyper and dependable...but that's it!

It's funny because the actress for min Jung has played the main innocent character in the last 2 dramas of her that has horrible evil 2nd leads lol

The drama was extended by 2 episodes, ending with episode 52.

I guess they really want the ratings to reach 40% ;)

At this point I have no expectations. Min Jung is a pretty popular character, but I don't know how the domestic fans feel about her, as in, if they wanna see her get punished or not. The audiences are unpredictable, so I just want Bo Ri and Jae Hwa to have some proper couple scenes. Lee Yoo Ri is doing a fantastic job, but tbh, Min Jung has the same MO of doing things and it's getting old.
