Osamu Mukai (向井 理, Mukai Osamu, born February 7, 1982) is a Japanese actor. He was born in Kanagawa, Japan. Mukai's height is 182 cm.
He graduated from Meiji University with an Agriculture major.
Mukai's first main role was in the 2006 Japanese television drama Nodame Cantabile. He played the cellist Kikuchi Toru and subsequently became known for his trademark smile.
He has also had key roles in several other dramas, including the mysterious butler Shinobu in Mei-chan no Shitsuji and Sho Okura in Atashinchi no Danshi. He played Haruki Kiriu in Futatsu no Spica and Kazuki Nanami in Ninkyo Helper. In 2010 he received much love from his role in the very popular NHK drama Gegege no Nyobo, which earned him Best Supporting Actor in the Television Drama Academy Awards. In the same year he appeared in the second season of Hotaru no Hikari as the love rival of Takano Seiichi. He also had supporting roles in the following dramas 5 Nen Go no Love Letter, Shinzanmono and Kikoku. As well as receiving many role in dramas, he was also offered many movie roles and he appeared in BECK and Hanamizuki. In 2011 he has the main role in the live-action film of Paradise Kiss, alongside Kitagawa Keiko. He acts as George an aspiring designer whom is a member of the group, "Paradise Kiss". Mukai also has a role in another movie set to hit theaters in Japan this year titled, "Bokutachi wa Sekai wo Kaeru Koto ga Dekinai".
