I have to say I'm a bit confused by the inclusion of Fukushi Sota as a "supporting" actor for Starman because he was the male lead. Same with Karina as "supporting" actress for Summer Nude.

usually a drama has only one main lead. i am not saying her role wasn't main too however usually main lead in japan is considered the one who is "leading" the drama team and in this case of summer nude yamapi was leading the drama team. if karina was under the supporting actress then this is because her role was that of supporting. like second lead :3 this is what it means.

What about romance drama? Aren't the couples both considered leads? Karina gets the bigger character arc, too, so if I had to choose between the two I'd pick her as the lead.

no. sometimes the female is just considered as the second lead aka supporting. like for example in nagareboshi, ueto aya was the main female role but takenouchi yutaka was "the main male role" and ueto aya was the second lead aka supporting actress which was why she took the best supporting actress for that season.

I'm suggesting that I have a problem with that--that the male always gets to be the lead, but by virtue of her being female, she has to take supporting. There CAN be two leads, and if there are, the female should be awarded as such.

well it's not always like that. i said usually. and if this is the nature of the role then it can't be helped. for example in starman the female was the lead. it doesn't have to do with the gender. this is what i am saying. mitsushima hikari was clearly the lead in woman.

Haha or right.....But this time let's not include young johnny actors because they were force to that main role without training first.....its no fair.

The one with the pink background and the witch hat? If that's the one you're talking about then it's Yamada Kun to 7 nin no majo.
