Jang So Yeon is confirmed to star alongside Wi Ha Joon and Jung Ryeo Won in a new K-drama
Won Ji An will possibly be the new main lead of Squid Game Season 2.
On June 28, several media outlets shared that for the new season of Squid Game, Won Ji An will be the new main lead. They also revealed that the actress was spotted at the script reading of the much-awaited second season of the Netflix original K-drama Squid Game Season 2.
Won Ji An's agency Hiin Entertainment responded to the circulating reports. The agency stated that it is difficult to confirm the appearance of Won Ji An in the Netflix original series Squid Game Season 2.
A representative from Netflix also said the same thing and that they can't confirm the reports.
The new male casts of the upcoming K-drama were already announced and confirmed while the reported female casts might be the surprise of the series as they have not been denied nor confirmed for the past weeks.
Won Ji An is currently starring in the KBS K-drama Heartbeat with Ok Taec Yeon, Yoon So Hee, Park Kang Hyun, Go Gyu Pil, and Yoon Byung Hee.
The actress will also join the upcoming K-drama Happy Boy with Sung Yoo Bin, Jo Hyun Chul, Bae Gang Hee, and Lee Suk Hyeong.
Won Ji An has a close connection with Netflix as she made her acting debut in 2021 through the original K-drama D.P.
The upcoming second season is confirmed to be led by Lee Jung Jae, Lee Byung Hun, Wi Ha Joon, Gong Yoo, Yim Si Wan, Kang Ha Neul, Park Sung Hoon, and Yang Dong Geun. In the previous week, Park Gyu Young and Jo Yu Ri were also reported to join the upcoming K-drama.
Squid Game Season 2 will continue the story of Seong Gi Hoon, the recent winner of the mysterious survival game 'Squid Game' which has a prize of 45.6 billion won. The upcoming new season will still be the masterpiece of director Hwang Dong Hyuk.
The upcoming K-drama will begin filming in the second half of the year. According to reports, Squid Game Season 2 will premiere on Netflix globally in 2024.
