You should try Sherlock. It's not an American show, but British. But it is one of the best out there! And Modern Family if you like something light and very very funny. Then there is Doctor Who (another British show, but awesome). For supernatural and superhero type shows you can watch Supernatural, Sleepy hallow, Supergirl, Gotham ( really great this one), American horror story ( it's really cool too).
