Good Performance

Korean cinema just hits the nail on the head with their acting and casting choices for WEBTOON series. The camera shots to set the mood for how the actor is feeling or what everyone is going through. Not to mention the dedication of the actors to fit into their roles. Park Min-young losing 37kg for this role has me both worried and amazed at her sheer strength and will power, I could NEVER.I'm fully invested in this series after reading the online web series. I live for the tea this story serves.

9/10 - Great Series

I kept my brain turned on in all 20 episodes. I feel proud of myself. I have to say, this is one of my favorite Korean historical dramas. The first half of this series felt like Hae Soo's story, but then it slowly changed into So's. I can't say I like the ending, but I'm glad Hae Soo was able to change his fate. That was the whole point; her life's mission. I think they all deserved better. But you can't really ask for much from an empire in the 900-980 era.

Hooray! She's out!

I beg you sweet friggin pardon. Prince Jung is going to marry Hae Soo and they are leaving the palace together? Honestly, great for Hae Soo. King So was getting way too controlling of her life, all my girl wanted was some peace. I'm glad she's finally got it. Seeing Prince Wook (8th prince) speak to her normally again and FINALLY fulfill his promise sent my heart soaring. I love that he changed for the better and he knew exactly what to say to So. I think Wook was gloating, but trying his best to get Hae Soo out of the palace. I'm pretty sure his sister was going to start gunning for her at some point.

King So did a 180???

I'm used to major plot twists happening too fast in Korean dramas. I have to say, King So is under the negative influence of his brother's ill intentions toward his relationship with Hae Soo. Plus, why not speak with Hae Soo about her closest friend BEFORE beating her to death? In that era (mid-900's) apparently there was no communication between men and women. Which, I mean, given the time...I understand. I just don't want to accept it, really. Hae Soo, she's too good for that world. Man, I need her to croak already so she can get back to modern day.

9/10 - The feelings are getting complex, but I'm here for it...

I love that Hae Soo is getting what she deserves. A peaceful life. But DAMN, you can't have s*** in Detroit (past Korea) apparently. Because she's going through h*** trying to please Prince So and stand between him and Prince Wook. First off, Prince Wook has ZERO room to speak on behalf of hypocrisy here. He promised Hae Soo so much and NEVER checked in on his promises. He kept saying he was going to get her out of the palace but he never did act on it, not once. He was being selfish, wanting to stay close to her, to be with her. He hid his true intentions when it when full blown Danny Phantom with that wardrobe. Oh, he used to be sweet and kind; now he's twisted and dark, trying to overtake the thrown. And Queen Mother of Prince So... Can she not just be happy that one of her children claimed the throne? It didn't HAVE to be Prince Jung. Plus, I'm not entirely convinced Prince Jung would be able to take it all on mentally. His head is in the clouds if he thinks he can stand against Prince So. In the end, Hae Soo is going to end up killed. She's been in the crossfire for far too long, she'll end up getting s**t eventually.

8/10 - How in the h***?

How did Prince Yo even survive? Didn't he get stabbed in the chest THEN thrown off of a cliff? That plot twist makes ZERO sense. Not to mention, Hae Soo is getting blamed left and right for all of the BROTHER'S wrong choices. Remember ladies, being the center of attention isn't always what it's cracked up to be. So far, Hae Soo has been threatened, beaten, and almost killed NUMEROUS times. I would not want to be in her shoes no matter how sexy those guys are. Prince Wook had my heart in the beginning; however, he was just a depressed prince who wanted Hae Soo and never acted on it officially. Now, he wants to be king and force Hae Soo to be his like that's any better? Prince So is physically protecting her, yes. But it still boils down to the fact that she's being forced into these life altering/threatening situations against her will. Living in that palace has automatically placed a n**se around her neck. (smh)

7/10 - I can't EVEN

The amount of times I see the villain/villainess cry over losing someone. I feel bad for anyone to have to go through losing their child. But this woman (the queen)... She kind of set Prince Yo up for failure, I'm not gonna lie to you. From the beginning, this eyeliner-wearing fiend wanted to act like he was next in line to be king. And--sure, he COULD have been. However, you have to look at his growth throughout the series and there has been NONE. His mom did more to try and get him the throne while Prince So was actually busting himself up growing WAY MORE than Prince Yo. I'm glad he died, to be honest. He was a crappy character and now we're going to have to watch as Prince Wook's sister tears herself down. She's acting like she can just take the throne and rule over an empire when she lacks SO MUCH. (smh) This episode still kind of feels like filler to me, I fail to see how any of this contributes to character or story development other than Prince Yo's death.

Kind of more filler...

This episode goes through how Hae Soo feels after Lady Oh's death. My girl just wants to leave the palace in peace, but she keeps getting roped back in. The king suddenly has "little time left". To be honest, Prince Wook (8th prince) has had NUMEROUS chances to state who he would like to marry. I believe the king would have been fine letting him marry Lady Hae Soo. And Prince Wook should have done it sooner rather than later. Now, there's an issue between him and Prince So (4th prince). Y'all can tell where this is going, right? Because my ears were bleeding while watching this episode. The ending was not really a surprise, I feel; you could tell when you saw her, she was out for blood (sword dancer). They instantly set her up as an assassin and I could not see the prince changing her for the better. She'll feel bad killing him, sure. But she'll go down glorifying that the rich need to be burned down because that's her play; that's her character.

Best episode and most tragic in this series.

That song they place throughout this series to set the score really hits at the end of this episode. You could tell in this episode what she was planning. The look, her decision, what she was going to sacrifice. It's a tragedy, however, I view it as a sweet death; a good one. She was leaving the world on her own terms. Rather than dying a slow and painful death, in illness; she decided to sacrifice herself. Saving the one of the court women she viewed as a child she couldn't have. You can tell that the king loved her dearly. He just could act on those feelings because of his honor as king. Something Prince So (4th prince) needs to think about along with Prince Wook (8th prince). Lady Oh wasn't throwing away herself or her feelings for the king. She was giving her life for someone she believed deserved a better fate; better than hers. Damn, this series is a great re-watch.

8/10 - Emotions are running high, my patience... thin.

Where do I start? 4th prince is manipulative. He cares for Lady Soo, sure. However, I CANNOT and WILL NOT overlook that forced kiss. Kissing her without consent, seeing how scared she is in the current moment? Hell no. The 8th prince is more to my liking. "I want to give you the love I never showed Lady Hae," he said. While I can't agree with that way of thinking, I respect it. Because the 8th prince had feelings for Lady Soo long before Lady Hae's death. He regrets not loving his wife as he should. So with his new love, he wants to make every moment count. But he isn't trying to be reckless about it. He's waiting for the right moment, unlike Prince So (4th prince). It's annoying to me that Prince So is glorified as this amazing guy when he's literally written in history as a mass murderer. Whether he's doing for Lady Soo, or for himself, or both. It's NOT okay. I cry for Lady Soo, she should take Lady Oh up on her offer and go with her to that hometown. Filter out all the toxicity in that palace. Palace life seems overrated.

Wang Yo... That is all...

All I have to say about this episode is that Wang Yo is getting more bold. His actions are becoming less transparent as he becomes more careless throughout this series. Clearly, he's been set up as the antagonist since the beginning. However, it would be interesting to see if his character gets a redemption arc. I know this drama is based off of historical facts, but some of it has to be made up for the fandom, right?

Mixed feelings.

Wook's feelings are 100% valid. He knew his wife would pass someday. He just never prepared himself for it, emotionally. And Hae Soo only got to know her for a short time before her passing. One of the first piece of family she made after waking up in the past. Marrying Hae Soo off to the king, while already promised to 8th prince, Wook, is just a 180. This series really surprises me.

Conflicted feelings...

This episode is my favorite so far. I like the growth Prince So displays while speaking with Lady Soo. Wook kind of abandoning his wife for her cousin is hella sus though.

Good episode getting to know them more.

Getting to know each character is what makes this series interesting. Villains are easily recognizable while they could also be setting up for something more. I have a feeling some of the heroes we love will make horrible decisions later.
