This drama is okay. It had potential to be a good one given the quality production and good cast. Zhao Lu Si is good along with everyone else. However, the story had some plot holes and discontinuity which I could not forgive due to disappointing almost nonexistent romance. Although there was potential for a good romance sadly the writers only gave some hugs and a couple of kiss on the forehead in the entire series! The ending can be deemed as a happy one as the couple got together but also open ended. Maybe not worth the watch unless you like to see the actors and really into historical themed dramas.

This drama is mainly a love story. I like how historical facts were incorporated with the fiction. The writers did a good job, of course there will be some minor annoyances in the story. The costumes and settings were amazing. Cinematography was excellent. Cast did a great job. I would have given perfect 10 but took a point off for the sad ending and not feeling chemistry with Ariel Lin and FSF (same with her and ZBB in I Will Never Let You Go). Kudos to Ariel Lin she tried her best here but I just can’t get into her acting and voice for a historical drama. Overall, I enjoyed this drama a lot.

I really really liked this drama enough for a 10 but I am giving it an 9.5, why? the drama started strong but lost its momentum during the last 4 or 5 episodes. This drama must have been so popular back in 2014 that the producers extended the episodes to 20 instead of the common 16 episodes for K-dramas so the writers somehow could only come up with a bunch of fillers for the extended episodes. That is just my guess. With that said, one can always fast forward the draggy parts towards the last few episodes just be careful not to skip the good parts. The leads have good chemistry and the supporting cast also did a good job with their characters. I have laughed and cried watching this drama. Overall, just do it, this drama is worth watching!!

This drama was definitely entertaining. The plot was unique specifically the personality of the main character. A combination of romance and mystery with a little slice of life thrown in. My rating is an 8.5 but I would have given this a 9.5 if not for these “flaws”; first- I don’t have anything against open or implied endings but still the ending could have been made better feeling somehow rushed; second- the ML looked old for a college student role although his acting was great for the role; and third there were a few plot holes that were left unexplained in my opinion. I admit, I came here for SKJ and having a bad case of second lead syndrome after watching this drama but in summary, I recommend this drama as a must watch.
