Kang Xi ascended the throne at age 8 after Shun Zhi abdicated to become a monk following the death of his favorite concubine. With the help of Grand Empress Dowager Xiao Zhuang, Kang Xi overcame a fierce power struggle against Ao Bai and eventually took control of the country himself. Later he would defeat rebellious former Ming generals Wu Sangui, Shang Kexi and Geng Jinmao, annex Taiwan, and triumph over Ge Er Dan. During his rule of 61 years, the longest in Chinese history, the country enjoyed unprecedented growth and prosperity.

The female lead donates liver and it was all a sham by male lead to get the liver donation. Both male lead took advantage of female lead and used them for their own benefit disregarding the feelings of female lead.
The couple chemistry is similar to Lighter& Princess. The ML appears cold but the FL knows him. They understand each other. The leads make it real. Just like in Lighter & Princess, the chemistry between the leads is amazing the point it makes it real. It feels natural and believable.
- Royalty MLs (in SoTK he's the emperor while in TIC he's a prince)
- Both MLs have a close bond with their protective older brother (in SoTK they're not blood related)
- Quirky and unconventional MLs that stick out
- Smart MCs
- Interesting, intimidating and well fleshed-out villains
- Prominent romantic side plot
- Strong FLs & SFLs
- SFL are warriors
- SMLs are clever and somewhat goofy
- Political intrigue (TIC is more investigation focused)
- Attention to details when it comes to plot and setting
The Imperial Coroner is quite a bit lighter, lower budget, less political and more comedic but i couldn't help but think of it while watching Secret of Three Kingdoms.

When watching Will love in Spring, it kept reminding me of another chinese drama which Fake it till you make it is an easy going drama with amazing chemsitry and romance has similar vibes.
Both are historical dramas in which the FLs have their faces exchanged with another woman. Both MLs are generals and first met the FL when she had her original face.
Both are historical dramas in which the FLs are betrayed, seemingly killed, and have their faces changed by a man who finds them injured and saves them.
Both are historical mini dramas in which the FL swaps faces with another woman and returns for revenge against those who wronged her.

Both are historical dramas that have a powerful queen pushing her son(s) to the throne, scheming by people in the people, and an heir to the throne who grew up outside the palace unaware of his identity as a child.
Both are historical dramas in which the ML is a prince who ends up on the run outside the palace, and helped by the FL who is unaware of his identity. Both MLs have a half brother who palace people are scheming to put on the throne in his place.
Both FLs are the daughter of a man wrongfully accused and executed, and both assume a false identity and become swept up into some pretense regarding gender (marriage to a girl pretending to be a boy vs. attending school disguised as a boy).
