It could have ended with episode 6

They could have a nice student romantic drama if only they ended with episode 6. The whole ep 7 was too tense and overall just too much (based on the fact that each episode went through important matters of life if I put it like this). It could have been poignant to explore more serious topics, but there were just several missteps. I liked how they ended the series in ep 6 and 7th ep was just a plus.
I would make the whole last episode as a special one, maybe a little bit longer, but I definitely wouldn't end a series with it.

It's really good, especially for the hopeless romantic like me. And it reminded me of Our Times (2015), also a good romance movie with a good plot and great acting.

Even though there's no kissing scene in the movie, the actors really portrayed youthful, nostalgic first love feelings. And the cinematography was great. And I really like how they act, it was so natural, especially the supporting roles.

All in all, it was a great film and recommendable for others to watch where it leaves you that overwhelming feelings at the end. And you still craved for it to continue.

a brutally honest review lol

It's a cute movie with many fluff scenes and omg they even include the typical ML teaches the FL how to play basketball trope. (i be eating these scenes up every time despite cringing heavily). I can't lie, I sighed when she tried shooting a hoop. How does someone not know how to shoot a basketball properly? It's like true beauty all over again. The only issue I have is the FL. The FL pisses me off so much, SHE HAD ME SCREAMING AT MY SCREEN. LIKE GIRL SPEAK YOUR MIND, STAND UP AND STOP RUNNING AWAY. She's the type of character that makes you pause your movie just to imagine yourself in her shoes and think about how YOU would approach her situation. I literally groaned every time she'd make that nervous face and be unable to utter words, especially to the ML. How tf are you gon be in the broadcasting club, yet you can't speak a little more confidently? JUST TALK PLEASE AND ENOUGH WITH THE PETITE, SHY, Y/N ACT ITS MAKING ME WANT TO RIP MY HAIR OUT. But that's a part of her character so I can't be too mad, even though I am. It's a love-hate relationship, at times I was rooting for her.. so... anyway. The ending is wholesome, she finally grew a backbone for the last 2 minutes of this 1.5-hour movie and he finally cleared everything up with the whole 'love triangle' thing, but what happened to the FL's announcement school? The ML's dream of playing soccer again? Look at all these unanswered questions. Overall, its a super fluffy movie you have to turn your mind off to watch. It has an interesting premise, the characters are likable for the most part.

Plot is good. But story direction? Bad. Confusing and scattered

Home School" starts off pretty cool, with this mysterious boarding school vibe and a bunch of interesting characters. You get hooked trying to figure out what's up with Maki searching for her lost brother. The whole thing with the masters adds a good dose of suspense too.

But, gotta be real, the ending kind of drops the ball. It's like the writers lost their way or something. Leaves you feeling a bit unsatisfied, like they could've done better.

Still, it's not all bad. The characters keep things interesting, and you're always curious about what's gonna happen next. It's a bit of an emotional rollercoaster – some parts are good, some are meh. Overall, it's okay, but you might wish they wrapped it up better.

Just give it a shot, you are going to love it.

I have been watching BL series for years now and the biggest problem that i face is when you watch that many shows, its very difficult to find a show that excites you, makes you wonder whats next and meets your standards but this show was so good that it had me sqealing like a little girl. I absolutely loved this show.

The acting of the main leads was so on point that i felt their emotions without them even having to spell it out and i felt each and every emotion with them. So, do give it a shot, trust me its gonna be worth it.

A very disappointing ending for many viewers

The drama started well with comical and entertaining scenes and strong storyline. One viewer labeled the heroes 'Power Rangers' as their camaraderie was endearing and close knitted. Many viewers had assumed the ending would be happy, and two-thirds into the series, some started dropping the drama when we saw the lead actors dying, which brought us bucket of tears.

It was heartening to see the Wu Emperor changed and became a better person. His eventual death was expected too. His decision to let male lead choose the next Emperor was an interesting outcome.

Nonetheless, many viewers were left angry on seeing both lead actor and actress dying in the ending episode.

Tacky with A Side Of Trashy with a Bowl of Hot Mess

I honestly think that MFlow and 95Naa or whatever it's called is Motive Village because all their series is simply trash. Often they start strong and somewhere in the middle the little engine that could can't.

I have tried to like their series but it is virtually impossible. I give up finding a series they can do well.

I mean the thrill is gone. If you choose to waste your time, good luck maybe you'll enjoy it. For me it's like ambien. I've never slept better.

In better news they have some decent actors and hopefully they'll make the choice to move on or stay in this pool of nothingness.

Better to avoid bad writing

Inspite of read In spite of Reading bad reviews, I still decided to go for this drama.
I was that much bored LOL.
Even though I knew,This will be same as every other daily makjangs,
I hoped it would be as entertaining as those are.
though the story line was Cliche
writing was very poor. With much difficulty I could go up to ep fifty ,Afterwards I fastforwarded each episode
I don't know what's with the new trend I have Observed with daily makjangs. It seems Writers are on a mission off Making second male lead as first lead while developing story.
This happened with a man in veil too. Writers invested viewers with second ML story who was I supposedly antagonist for female lead but they made so much of story line scenes of female lead with second made lead so that.,At one point viewers fell into pity for second male lead .First male lead even did not had enough scenes with female lead,How chemistry was gonna develop between them. And until the end of drama
Even though female lead was taking revenge on second male lead ,she was harbouring love in her heart along with resentment. I hate such dramas which gives viewers feels as if female lead is cheating on male lead
ABOUT REST OF DRAMA,....Each episode had over the top dramatic scenes
. It was so repetitive., even thoughThe actress acted very well.I started them fast-forwarding FROM EP 50 ONWARDS
OVERALL Writing very bad for this drama in my opinion

Incredibly boring

I struggled to watch episode 2 to 4, while the 1st episode was good. The story was incredibly tasteless and boring. The editing of the series was poor, It was painful to see her struggle to pay for her bills and meals. I began to suspect the director lack experience in his role.

I was initially impressed the lead actress was Zhou YiMou's chosen actress for his movies. I patiently watched 4 episodes. I have never watched the lead male actor's previous dramas, although he had a few leading roles. I am not fond of his acting skills. I still noted that the acting cast in this drama, has many fresh faces.

Beautiful storyline

Absolutely love the show. Great start and young star cast. the storyline is intriguing. Give it a try you wont regret.
The chemistry between Lee Hong Jo and Jang Sin Yu was amazing, adorable, funny and cute. Actor Rowoon and Jo Bo-ah were perfect together. Specially Rowoon showed his acting pro. He gives brilliant yet subtle facial expressions. I hope he thinks about acting in movies, and on more serious script. He displayed a lot of potential, and can be something really big and global hope to see this pair again.

Very different than the drama, in a good way!

Oh my, I'm SO happy I found this. I prefer this than the drama, as it's more lighthearted. Plus, this one has particular sweet and touching story. It really is healing!

Bonus!? I'm so happy to find Shison Jun in it!!! I thought he looked familiar, turns out he is my favorite character from a recent show I watch. His character here is such a delight, I would be happy to have an entire series based on this character too

Overall, it's a really great watch. If you've watched the drama before, you can skip the 1st hour or so, and watch the rest. The first part is basically 1st episode of drama (to give people context of who ML is), and then the rest 1 hour is brand new case with Shison Jun in it!

It feels like a romantic and hilarious play "remade" into a period drama

I’m so glad I waited until it was almost finished to watch this drama!! I didn’t expect to like this drama so much, and frankly, at first, I only wanted to watch it because I fell in love with the main lead in Destined with you hehe. And in the end, while I still love the couple in Destined with you with my whole heart, I sadly admit the plot wasn’t very convincing… But here, with The matchmakers, the only “default” I could find was the very end of the drama, because we didn’t get to watch them exist as a "real" couple, and I just wanted it to be LONGER, one small scene would have been enough for me, but I assure you it’s just me nitpicking. :')

In fact, the plot was surprisingly good. While I expected to get bored in the middle of the drama, it didn’t happen once and I think the whole cast was perfectly chosen. I can’t find a single character that didn’t convince me, even the villains were great. The main couple was really cute together and I was glad to see such good character development, especially coming from the ML. The FL was also awesome, and was an original character, since it’s not often a widower is shown in a drama, much less acting as one of the main protagonists. Apart from that, she was also resourceful, a quick thinker, and overall, a very lovable character. Her pairing with the ML worked really well, even if their chemistry wasn’t “all fire”, it was still believable, especially considering their respective past and circumstances. I don’t know the actress’s age but she really convinced me, and I hope to see her again soon. For her counterpart, what can I say except that Rowoon quickly became one of my favorite actors at the moment. But of course, everyone has their personal opinion on the subject, and I respect it. I also like the fact that they successfully defied “fate” to be together, and the last episode was pretty satisfying in this aspect. Furthermore, the humor in this drama was exceptionally well done, and I agree entirely with other commentators here that made a comparison with Shakespeare’s plays. A big thank you to the screenwriter who did a wonderful job with the dialogue. At first, I didn’t know what to think about the “breaking the fourth wall” scenes but they rapidly grew on me, and it certainly made the drama even more impactful.

Moreover, the cinematography is another part of this drama’s quality. It was exceptional and the décor in general deserves an award or something like this. It added even more to the story and anchored the characters into a fairytale-like environment. Talking about the characters, I found this drama particularly exciting in terms of secondary characters, because, like I said in the beginning, there wasn’t even one character that I didn’t find interesting to watch and the chemistry between our main group is clearly palpable. And big kudos to the king! He was capable and funny; it’s not often I encountered a king as interesting as him. And finally, the OST they used complimented the story very well. So, what’s not to love?? Ah, maybe the subplot between the older splinter and the Crown prince wasn’t very necessary but at least they kept things pretty “light” fortunately. Maybe they should have introduced them as platonic soulmates instead of romantic soulmates? Well, in any case, this is just a drama so I will not read too much into things lol.

All that to say that I will definitively miss these characters and this story. I also wanted to give a proper review to a drama that deserves it, despite the mediocre score that it ended with on MDL… I hope watchers won’t be too scared about the ratings here and would focus instead on the positive comments, please give it a try at least!

It's a rollercoaster of emotions that leaves you smiling and humming to the tunes.

"Twinkling Watermelon" is like a time-traveling fiesta that throws you into the '90s, and it's a blast! Imagine accidentally ending up in 1995 and trying to play matchmaker for your parents. That's the hilarious ride Ha Eun Gyeol takes us on.

The story isn't just your typical time-travel plot; it's a feels trip exploring family, love, and growing up. It's like a bag of emotions – you laugh, you cry, and you dance to the '90s tunes.

Now, let's talk about the rockstars of the show – Ryeoun and Choi Hyun Wook. Their bromance and father-son duo are so heartwarming; you wish you had a friend or a dad like that. And Seol In Ah? She's the queen of adding layers to her character, making Choi Se Kyeong unforgettable.

Oh, the music! It's not just a soundtrack; it's a time-traveling mixtape. The '90s hits and original songs are like a nostalgia bomb. You'll find yourself humming along and doing the Macarena.

But, of course, every party has a pooper, and here it's the classic Kdrama evil character, Lim Ji Mi. Not the most nuanced villain, but hey, we can overlook that in the grand scheme of things.

The title, "Twinkling Watermelon," may sound random, but trust me, it becomes a genius clue and metaphor as the story unfolds. It's like a secret code to the drama's awesomeness.

In a nutshell, "Twinkling Watermelon" is not just a drama; it's a time-traveling adventure, a laughter therapy, and a dance party rolled into one. It's the kind of show that leaves you with warm fuzzies and a craving for more watermelon. Don't miss the joyride – it's a watermelon-flavored treat for your soul! 🍉✨

Weird premise, really good show

At first I watched episode one and then I stopped watching the show for a couple weeks. I randomly picked it back up and I’m glad I did. Overall I thought it was a really good show. It was very sweet and fluffy with a lot of good messages and kota and naoya definitely had a good relationship. Some of kota’s actions were very embarrassing to witness but I still loved his character. Naoya is very much a green flag and really cares about kota from the very start despite majorly reading signals wrong. I think they definitely casted the right people, especially for kota. I think the one falling point was end of ep. 7 and beginning of ep. 8. There was a HUGE plot twist that I didn’t really think made any sense. All of a sudden kota gets held hostage in his own house by a lady who comes to his door with a gun wearing a helmet. The whole things on the news and no one try’s to help him. The entire 15 hours he’s being held hostage he’s thinking about the people and experiences he appreciates most. Eventually naoya sees the news and goes to rescue kota. The lady holding kota hostage falls in love with naoya at first sight becuase she says he looks like her first love and then naoya and robber have a heart to heart about how she’s better than this and she confesses that she robbed a bank and then held kota hostage cause she wanted more money to spend on idols. after she gets arrested naoya offers to let kota move in cause he’s worried about his safety and kota basically says its no big deal and he gets bad luck like this all the time. Whole ridiculous side plot aside, great show, you should watch it.

The title is totally apt! It's a 'Classic' masterpiece to watch again and 'Again'

I chose to watch this movie right when I got to know about it just because of New, as he was in the main character role. Although I'd have watched it despite of that, but the movie poster was so convincing and beautiful that I couldn't hold myself and went for it. The very first frame when the actual story begins - is just so damn captured. New's innocence is everything in this movie from the very beginning to the very end. It's a journey of beauty where the first half fills you up with love and second half naturally makes you cry because of that love. The movie is so beautifully cinematographed and presented. Every moment, frame and scene is of top mastery. Every next scene makes you go wow with the filmmakers imagination and execution. The artists have played their role so smoothly and perfectly. AND NEWWIE, He's a pure sweetheart throughout. He makes you fall for him even more!!!! ♥️♥️♥️ It's one of those works which becomes close to heart. Added to my one of the favourites list already.
