Slowly Slowly... a lot of yummy but also a whole lot of meeh

This drama is one part food/cooking, one part traval, one part friendship and I guess one part music/entertainment drama... oh and a romance... Without Drama.

I love most of the side characters, sweet fun to waych, goid friends and have lovely interdynamics. But it also has some really badly preformed, and badly written characters..

Both leads have their charm but to be honest this feels a bit like a teenage daughter of divorce with a cheeting father... sat down and fantasised with her friends.... And wrote some kind of extremely unrealistic fantasy. some kind of type of fantasy drama... more unrealistic than time travel, magical creatures types of fantays. The type that is there to makeup for all the wrongs of her family all at once with very little drama but also the female lead is portrayed as a kid/doll. Thus making me believe it is indeed a story written for kids.

The female lead has some fun bad ass lines here and there... as well as the occasional show of character. However most of the time her mimics, the way she is dressed, the way she runs, walks... are all a crossover between toddler and ballet dancer. Girl can fall asleep at any time and I'm pretty sure she is served milk at one point or another.

The male lead has no time yet is the one making all the desisions, cooking and what nott... he is also 7 years older than than the female lead with a huuuge maturity gap between them. However not a single person seems to mention the age gap... Normally age gaps don't really bother me but here the maturity gap is just too big.

I can't help but wonder about the brainstorming sesion when choosing the ml occupation and character.

Let's make him a voice actor
No we need more
Ok a singer
No we need more
Ok how about a healer...
No we need more
Ok he needs to be a master chef too
No that is still not enough we need more...
Hmm... ok lets take all of the above add some mistery and make all of this secret identitys and throw in a sviour complex and make him a director, planner and... and... a pioneer yes he was a pioneer too... + never had a girlfriend at age 29 because he was waiting for the right voice to come along...

How about the fl?
Fl... fl... hm... ok she can be a foodie who cant cook, composes but rather not sing her own song though she has a nice voice that can't hit high notes. Oh she should be a student too... maybe work at a supermarket or something like that... you know so girls can find something to relate to...

The show has the healthy mains relationship tag and is discribed as a geen flag... but honestly something about him keeps bothering me and though he doesn't force himself on the female lead even once, this is not really a relationship between equal. So my standards for healthy relationships is a bit different than this one...

My favorite characters are the groups manager and the two singers in the group whoem are waaay more interesting than the leads. I aloso loved the cosplayers. Fun to watch and a ship I would love to see the friends of this show in a Taiwanese spinoff...

The pacing is a bit off at times painfully slow... matching the theme song slowly slowly we fall in love... though the falling was fast apparently they had a parashoot with a propeller...

An okay watch with a whole lot of beautiful shots (mainly of food), and a whole lot of good (mainly side characters) but to much meh to get a higher score.

Made a cliche plot intersting

I love the acting and the way they relate with each other. The whole amnesia trope is overused, but when Dayy lost his memory, Itt responded well, the right amount of drama and emotions were displayed. The storyline was constant all through the series and the chemistry was fire.I love this movie and I need a sequel ASAP because there is a lot of history between Itt and Dayy that needs to be explained. I also need a series with the side characters and their stories. I would recommend this series. Also, I cannot wait for another season.

The best contemporary romance you'll ever come across

' Fake it till you make it '
The title piqued me instantly.
The poster was compelling.
The start was catchy and intimidating.
I'm not an avid watcher of Chinese dramas, coz they lack depth more often than not and are quite superficial, but this drama blew me away.
It was so compelling, the script is adapted from a novel.
The characters were so well written, and so unique.
The plot was so engrossing, it's one of the best dramas of 2023 and certainly the best contemporary romance drama.
The actors are outstanding.
It's like everything this director wanted to do, happened with this drama.

The versatility of characters was surprising, it made you wonder often what's their purpose, each of them served and left and some people in life normally do .
The biggest plus point is that the whole drama rotates around both the leads .
Mesmerizing chemistry b/w the leads followed by modern takes on how things proceed, the dating ploy, the urban constraint, the pretentiousness of humans and how it isn't necessary.
The struggles of the workplace, the toxicity of corporate culture, and how at the end of the day everybody is still struggling despite all the cunning tactics.

With the conclusion that life is more than work.
You might think that struggle and hard work will lead you to something but it can never fulfil the void it leaves in your life.

Most dramas lose their ploy by the time they end, this one never did, infact it develops as the episodes progress to a newer perspective, it does get slow after episode 10, which I found to be the problem.
But it still deserves a 10 for bringing something new to the table.

It was a lovely experience, I hope you watch this drama and enjoy it too.
Till then ^^

Great Story, Ambiguity Improves

Min Sang Un (MSU)’s dual suicide attempt should have ended the Bulgasals’ time on Earth. Dan Hwal (DH)’s last second Hail Mary Pass kept them alive but created an unstable unbalanced situation dominated by strong dark emotions among the three Bulgasal demigods and human souls entangled in their karma. DH 1,000 years ago was motivated by love which turned to great anger at her betrayal (in his eyes) which gave rise to mutual curses and DH’s creation of the sub Bulgasal Ok Eel Tae (OET) to evade MSU’s dual suicide attempt. This imbalance generated by hatred remained festering for the 1,000 years until at the end, DH rediscovered his love for MSU, and realizing the harm he had caused in his angry reactions a millennium ago, sacrificed himself to prevent any more harm to his human family. The DH that sacrificed himself for the same humans he had cursed so many years before was a different character from the angry Bulgasal at the beginning. And the loss of memories in her last reincarnation allowed MSU to let go of her dark emotions generated by the past events and become willing to sacrifice herself to save DH, another major character arc growth.

DH accused MSU of trickery in having herself reborn as twins and he didn’t believe, at first, that she couldn’t remember prior life events. OET made the same accusation and also, at first, did not believe MSU could not remember. From the story we know that in fact she could not. The messy bickering continued over 1,000 years until some higher power perhaps decided the suffering punishment for DH and MSU had gone on long enough and motivated by the desire to have them find their original love intervened by having MSU reborn as twins, one with the bitter revenge filled memories against DH and OET, and the second containing the hidden power (see below) but no memories. The first twin is killed as expected as normal, but the second survives to be discovered by DH who keeps her alive to uncover the mystery hidden by her lost memories. The struggle between them eventually turns from adversarial to one of friendship and finally a rediscovered love from when their immortal relationship ended 1,000 years before.

Why did MSU die? She was shown twice to have special non human powers (further below) reflecting an echo of her original Bulgasal form. But she was very much a part of the original web of mutual curses that bound the three’s existence together, and when the two Bulgasals died her emanated special power ended and she was also fated to pass over from her wound (similar to Do Yoon who survived). That she would die was hinted at in Lee Hy Suk(LHS)’s prophecy that spooked OET to kill the shaman when she said, “The soul will go back to its owner.” In other words OET’s soul would be returned to him from MSU or i.e. she will die.

Do these demigods have souls? Probably not human souls but perhaps something else. And whatever higher deity intervened to bring about the end of the Bulgasal feud, when DH sacrificed himself for the human family he cursed 1,000 years before, when MSU returned to confront OET and sacrificed herself, that triggered the final stage. They all three died, and the original two demigods were allowed to be reborn into human reincarnations, find each other, and hopefully make better choices.

Bulgasals are immortal demigods. The concept of a human soul and who has one becomes important because Bulgasals lack them. There is one human soul first transferred from OET to DH 1,000 years before, and later from DH to MSU 600 years ago.

An aspect that is key to understanding the ending and that is included in the story but not highlighted is that humans who used to be Bulgasal have special powers. We see this three times in the story.

The first example is that of the human DH who 600 years before seemed to have super human abilities to kill monsters beyond anything displayed by his peers. In the womb he scared off the corpse eating monsters and then survived a birth from a dead mother. His childhood was difficult. As an adult the soldiers first said he was cursed by Bulgasul then that he was blessed by Bulgasal and that the monsters feared him as much as they fear the Bulgasul itself.

MSU provides two other present day significant examples. One occurred in an early episode (E3 1:05) when DH was rushing back to the laundry factory to stop a human monster from killing MSU with a knife. He was too late. The monster knocked MSU to the ground and we see the monster prep for his attack, only hesitating to gloat. The scene abruptly shifts from her prone on the ground to the monster sitting on the ground bloodied, battered and cut up with MSU standing over him holding his knife. She abruptly returns to her meeker self and drops the knife which the monster picks up for another try. Only then does DH intervene. MSU doesn’t seem aware of what she did.

The second is much later (E12 minute 43) when MSU is waiting alone in a car in a remote woods for DH to find OET and return. OET managed to phone one of his police henchmen who shows up and attacks MSU stabbing her in the exact place of her twin’s birth scar on her shoulder. (This initiates incremental memory recalls.) DH shows up but again he’s too late. MSU has been stabbed but she fought off the policemen and stabbed him badly. The henchman later says to OET, “She suddenly became strong. She wasn’t herself.”

These three examples point to humans who used to be Bulgasal having unusual latent powers. The incidents involving MSU could have been written around easily. In MSU’s first incident DH could have arrived early enough to intervene. In the second DH could have arrived again soon enough to save her after the first stab wound. This aspect implies that although MSU isn’t Bulgasal now that she once was leaves her more than an ordinary human and very much a part of the Bulgasal triad.

A review of key events at 1,000 years and again at 600 years before.

The first key event occurs 1,000 years ago when a series of misunderstandings between the two Bulgasals - DH and MSU - result in both near death with wounds to their hearts. MSU’s was self inflicted and DH’s brought about by three humans. DH curses all three humans - one to be reborn and suffer the loss of his arm, the woman to never be able to give birth to healthy children, and the boy to always be reborn into blindness. OET, whose machinations brought about the violent clash, the deaths of many people and the looming end of the two Bulgasals, shows up and leads the dying DH away. A desperate DH takes OET’s soul making OET a Bulgasal (whose heart is unwounded). Before DH dies he orders OET to find him when DH is reborn as a human and make him a Bulgasal again, and to ensure he complies he puts a curse on him leaving him with the dark bleeding hole in his chest and in constant pain.

Another 400 years goes by. We do not know how many times DH is reborn during these four centuries. However, rewatching the events in E1 with the knowledge gained in the E16’s flashbacks an ongoing 400 year struggle between MSU and OET is hinted at. DH was reborn repeatedly. While OET probably did not dare attempt to directly kill DH at any age because he feared triggering another switch back into his original mortal form, he seems to have searched for, found, and then begun murdering the people around the young DH to induce the humans to kill him. MSU, as reluctant to kill humans as she was 1,000 years before, acted to protect DH when she could up to taking a knife in the back and feigning death. This repeated cycle probably angered MSU. She would likely direct her anger at OET for all the killing of humans and at DH for the starting the whole mess to begin with. During DH’s last human life MSU saves him at least twice until this cycle is broken and he is rescued by a passing general (one of three cursed by DH 400 years prior). DH grows up and marries the general’s daughter (the second human cursed by DH) and she bears a son who is blind (the third cursed).

The adult DH, as the adopted son of the general, undertakes a campaign to kill any and all monsters around. Initially his men see him as an evil spirit cursed by Bulgasal and then as he kills many monsters they see him as an evil spirit blessed by Bulgasal. For reasons unclear all of these monsters will only be reborn as humans (and lean toward serial murdering) and hold a grudge to kill anyone carrying DH’s soul (i.e. MSU).

To kill the Bulgasal (DH only knows about one) and remove the curse from himself, his wife, and his son, DH leads a troop to the mountain where the Bulgasal is rumored to reside. This does not go well and most of his troops are murdered by OET along with his wife and son. While grieving over the corpse of his son, MSU approaches from behind and stabs him fatally in the back. While MSU holds the sword in his back we are shown the soul transferring from DH to MSU. DH becomes a Bulgasal and MSU a human. DH in turn stabs MSU twice and there are some more harsh words exchanged (with no explanation as to why she stabbed him, or her connection to the murder and mayhem all about). MSU dies as a human but in the same way that DH did 1,000 years prior when he became human just before his death.

Why she stabs him is the weakest link of the overall series plotting. This weak link is also the main driver for much of the later plot twists. The few words exchanged in the moments before MSU dissolved don’t explain why she protected him before this but tries to kill him now. How did she miss the presence of OET accomplishing all the slaughter finished just moments before?

DH: Why did you do it?
Why did you have to kill my innocent wife and son?
Tell me why.
Tell me why!
MSU: telepathically (This was all your doing.)
(What have you done?)
(You have created more bad karma.)
(And you have brought upon < > another retribution.)
(I despise you.)
(I truly despise you.)
DH: What do you mean?
MSU: (I will be born again with this scar that you have given me.)

Many questions could have been answered in this exchange but the writers (deliberately) left things vague. To begin with DH’s question - Why did she do it?

She clearly states she despises DH which may explain why she blamed him for the murder and mayhem and stabbed him in the back. Perhaps she saved him when he was a child because she has a soft spot for kids who have not yet made bad choices in life - the potential for good. When she encountered him in this situation she concluded he made bad choices and decided to end his human life to be reborn and try again. Much of the later story hinges on this deliberate ambiguity, but the overall story framework would have worked better if at the end we were provided a clear motivation for her decision at that moment to plunge the sword into DH’s back.

Why does she believe this was all his doing? And what is this ‘this’ that he did? The current killing? Or all the bad for the last 400 years? Perhaps she is aware of all the effects on the humans his curses have had for the last 400 years? Did MSU believe that DH killed all those people - his own soldiers and family?

Perhaps the three - DH, MSU, and OET - became bound in a web of curses tying their destinies together such that the only solution to end the bad karma was for all three to die. Humans who were once a Bulgasal retain some shadow of the power and also remain in the web of curses. The human MSU was tied to OET because she had his original soul which was further tied to DH’s original curse on OET (i.e. his dark hole) and when the two of them died any protection that had been extending to her failed making her succumbing to her wound inevitable.

There was an imbalance created by DH’s taking of OET’s soul to evade the end of the two Bulgasals. That was further complicated by OET’s attempts to evade taking back his soul and even more so when MSU (either by accident or design) stepped in to switch with DH turning him back into a Bulgasal.

If she reincarnated eight times in 600 years then it is likely that the human DH over his 400 years would have reincarnated several times also, but OET failed to seek him out and change him back into Bulgasal probably because he did not want to become a sickly mortal human again. Instead he seems to have deliberately sought DH out and induced humans to kill him. DH seems to have foreseen this reluctance and layered his curse so that OET could not relieve his suffering by retaking his soul back from anyone other than DH. This is the likely reason that whenever OET tries to crush/break MSU’s (OET’s) soul he feels crushing pain. However, he can kill her which does nothing to relieve his suffering and she just reincarnates.

There’s lots of sand in the destiny gears. Over a 400 year period OET failed to restore DH. It’s possible that MSU deliberately (or accidentally?) stepped into the stalemate between OET and DH by taking DH’s OET soul herself. Once this happened OET needed (or eventually ((600 years)) came to believe he needed) the renewed DH Bulgasal to intervene somehow. OET believed that if DH killed MSU then that would somehow remove his dark hole and allow him to attain his goal of remaining as Bulgasal with DH as Bulgasal. More likely DH’s original curse prevented OET from ever resolving his dark hole problem even if DH had cooperated.

In E13 the shaman LHS delivers a prophesy to OET which triggers him to kill her. This prophecy ties together elements from E1 through events in E16. She said,
1) An evil spirit will come from the dark hole.
2) The evil spirit that fed off its father’s blood will rise up from the dark hole.
3) The evil spirit opened the dark hole.
4) And now, it is coming to close it.
5) The soul will go back to its owner. x 2

OET only knows and is obsessed with the dark hole that DH gave him 1,000 years ago. But we having seen the final episodes know that the line #1 dark hole is probably the well that DH will be thrown into. DH is the evil spirit (in E1 600 years ago his soldiers called him the evil spirit who kills monsters) that will feed off his father's blood and then rise up from the dark hole i.e. the well. DH is the evil spirit that opened the dark hole in OET's chest 1,000 years ago and whose actions will soon close it. The soul that will go back to its owner is OET's soul currently residing in MSU. This line prophesies her death so that OET's soul can return to OET in the afterlife.

Weak points aside I have no complaint about the overall story in part because the deliberate ambiguities make it more interesting.

With all due respect, another Cinderella story?

I really don't know how to rate this drama. Frankly, I never felt so many contrary emotions about a show. I loved it and I hated it, I was amused and I was disgusted, I was hooked and I wanted to drop it - all at the same time. It is another fairy tale mash up with an american soap opera with a very japanese twist to it. In the first episode there is a food and pillow fight together with hair pulling: I really thought I was watching Dynasty! The opening credits' still was a photo of the cast in the typical US soap poses so...The reason I was so confused by it is that I could not pinpoint exactly which genre this belongs to: comedy, satire, drama, makjang, soap? It has everything in it!

So what happens when Cinderella marries her prince and goes to live in his castle? Will she obey to rigid antiquated customs or will she rebel? Well, this is the 21st century, the women empowerment has swept the world and has even reached Japan where young women of today refuse to submit any more. Sato, our Cinderella, is someone like that and she does everything in her power to change the stale atmosphere that reigns in her Prince's castle. And she does it all with kindness and with a smile on her face, understanding even the meanest persons trying to hinder her and destroy her. And those people are many! Fortunately her Prince is there!

The drama was actually really about women in japanese society: their position and how they are seen by the male dominated society and how they need to work hard to obtain their independence and freedom. But should I look at it from that point of view (criticism of contemporary Japan) or consider it just some fluffy, meaningless entertainment, far from reality?

The cast of characters was very colourful. Cinderella was a kind, strong willed, intelligent and sweet women: an ideal. Her Prince was a kind, sweet, supportive man. They unwaveringly loved each other (even when the last problem - amnesia!!! I kid you not! LOL) was thrown at them!

The horrible Pater Familias was the only one who did not show any character growth : his ending was rushed and frankly ridiculous! The others: the submissive mother, jealous brother, envious sister-in-law etc. all went to many trials and tribulations and came out stronger. I actually loved to hate the sister-in-law: the Prince's older brother's wife. She was funny when she was mean, singing nursery rhymes to mock our Cinderella, gloating but deep down hiding many insecurities.

Everything is so OTT here! The lifestyle of the indecently rich people is frankly indecent: huge scary mansions, the bling bling everywhere, dozens of servants lined up like army troops accompany them everywhere, ugly ostentatious cars, clothes. And still, the mansion which is on top of the hill, looks like situated in the desert, everything behind the entrance gate is yellow, cold and desolate! Cinematography was really good: it made me feel very uncomfortable!

I watched it on viki and they forgot to edit out the in-episode previews: I guess the episodes were cut in three parts while airing and there were previews before every commercial break. But on viki, there are no commercial breaks so it took me some time to realize what was going on with these scenes out of context!

Should I recommend watching this? Well: "All's well that ends well!" so it is up to you!

Riveting and redeeming

I loved this drama. The storytelling is top notch and the cast was well chosen. The veterans stood shone brightly, well supporter by a younger cast eager to prove their mettle. I enjoyed how the cast were honest and believable in their portrayals, without overacting or overbrooding. The direction was good and while some may feel the pace is slow, I would say it allows us to savour the plot and appreciate the witty and beautiful script. No wonder this drama is one of the highest ranking drama on Douban.

THE BEST

I don’t even know where to start. from the beginning this drama is such a hit that keeps you still in your place. I wasnt a big fan of park seo joon and didn’t even know kim dami but after watching this i fell in love with kim dami’s acting.
Ki Dami played her character soo good that it was worth watching it multiple times. She was the most bitchiest, annoying, narcissistic, insensitive, jelous, cool, strong, intelligent, hard working, and THE MOST LOVING character that loved park saeroyi more than anyone could.
Whatever she did, she did it out for love for him. From the beginning its always been him for her.
I would definitely recommend this drama to everyone
And park seo joon’s character was also very well delivered to the audience we could see the hurt, revenge and love for his people and his never changing attitude.
Overall a worth watching drama. Definitely should give it a try!

Kudos to Rowoon!

It started in a very awkward and weird way but then over the course of 16 episodes, it transformed into a very heartfeltting, emotional and engaging storyline.

The awkwardness is mainly due to the character Shim Jung Woo being an anti-social, stubborn, naive and upright nerd trying to fit himself into society. At first, I thought maybe Rowoon, ended up picking a terrible script for the first time in his acting career but later I saw how Rowoon managed to bring out the anti-social character into a more mature character over 16 episodes and yet again I have to compliment him on his acting.

And the rest of the cast too did an amazing job!! Loved everyone of them!

The storyline is similar to other cliche Joseon matchmaking stories aired so far but despite that it has its differences and engaging points.

It started off cringy af but by the end, my heart had turned into a soft puddle. It's just adorable!!!

So if you feel like it's too cringy at first, give a few more episodes a try and you will find yourself falling in love with this drama.

Maybe its not for everyone but its sure for me

First off, This is my second BL i've ever seen and i watched it on the Mandee Channel on youtube. i adore this story so much, its Definitley one i can put on in the background and watch.

I LOVE all the mains, Newnu, Zee, Max & Nat, They all have great charater chemistry together, i saw a video where someone was hating on Nat and it made me cry becuase he os just a little bean. Yes he always plays the cute roles but thats just his style but he does it so well, If given a bigger, more "powerful" role, he'll be able to do that too. - maybe i'm bias becuase i have the same personality as Nat.

Zee & Newnu's chemistry is literally unmatched, they have so much tention and chemistry in real l;ife (Probably because they are dating) that there on screen Chem is electric.
Max& Nat also have really good chemistry on and off screen

My favorite part(s) of the entire show is anytime Kuea changes into Kiriin because Nu looks so good in this style of clothing, and i lovehim riding the motorbike, - i'm bias because i love anything with a motor bike

watch this when ur watchlist is empty

I had really been anticipating this since its announcement and even tho it was pretty good it definitely does not make it to the top....
About the story line: the plot line is amazing, it's something different and plus the fact that it's a historical drama just adds to its charms. I really enjoyed the first couple episodes or maybe till like the 7th or 8th episode but then it just started lacking in places like don't get me wrong the story was still very much there and progressing but the pacing was just too slow....at the start i didn't expect the marriage of the 3 daughters to be stretched for all 16 episodes but it did....given that it's a romance drama i did expect the leads to work on their relationship and feelings but it was more like just a push and pull from both sides and then in the 15th episode we see some real progress with those two.....the other couples have great stories of their own and they are elaborated enough given their screen time but with the leads again something was just lacking.....also one thing i absolutely hated was the relationship shown/made between the 1st daughter and the crown prince....it was just absolutely baffling and borderline disgusting.....they could always have casted an older person to play the crown prince and i think this is a big mistake on their part. Also the episodes between 7th/8th episode and 14th/15th episode felt a lot like fillers and didn't really contribute much to the plot n stuff so it would've been much much better had they shortened this to 12 episodes (which is a really great step nowadays imo)
The characters and acting: All the actors are really good at their jobs, at portraying their characters .....i specially loved the character of sun deok's mother in law i really think she stole the show with her greed her madness her understanding her flaws and her intelligence...it is always an interesting scene with her and u really start anticipating her next moves and everything........
This show did have the potential.....i mean look at the cast, the storyline, everything....but it just lacked somewhere
Honestly I think I could only finish this because i was watching it while it was airing and had to watch just 2 episodes per week....it wasn't something i was really curious about after every episode.... tbh i don't think i could've binge watched it and most probably would have dropped it midway....the romance between the leads was just meh their was not much chemistry and honestly in the finale i expected much stronger emotions with the two of them but the reactions were lukewarm at best.....also the ending didn't really cut it for me even tho it was a happy ending....
All in all even tho it is pretty good it can feel a bit lengthy and stretched...but if ur thinking about watching it for ur fav actors or just to pass time....pls go ahead and enjoy yourself

Humans are scarier than evil spirits

Fantastic drama! The storyline was so surreal and amazing, it will make you hooked on to your device until you finish it completely. But there are some drawbacks tho. For example, Sanyeong's mom was dumb and stupid till the very end, and I would say selfish too. She only thought about saving her daughter I agree, but in the process she endangered her. Her quest in saving her daughter was running away from every dire situation. She even concealed Sanyeong's father's family secrets and was acting like a lunatic everytime Sanyeong asked about it. She really pissed me off. Hongsae was a brat at first, but his senior's death changed him, and thank goodness for that, cuz I could not tolerate two annoying characters at the same time. He was greedy for promotion but later realised the real meaning of being a civil servant. Now coming to the evil spirit, Hyangi. Damn, she was a real tyrant, just because she wasn't loved by anybody. What I understood from her backstory was that, Hyangi didn't mind being poor, she wanted that happiness that was snatched from her by her own acts of selfishness and greed. When she said, "Why can't you love me?" to Sanyeong's mom, I felt her pain PHYSICALLY. Getting killed because of some psychopathic heiress of a business company wanted her husband's business to flourish, was seriously the most painful part, as Hyangi's teenage and the rest of her life was snatched from her without her knowing. That's why, humans are lot more scarier than evil spirits, and conclusively, this drama was super fantastic. Probably the best work of Kim Taeri.

endless tug of war

Let met starts off with their NC scenes - It was hawtt af! soft porn is all I can say! phewwwh. However............

SPOILER!!: It takes almost 8 episodes; which equals to roughly "8 hours" of my watch time for you guys to finally get together?!!

I get it. When someone broke your heart it sure takes a while to overcome it, let alone to accept them back in your life. But then, having the privilege of making an hour of drama, you ought to be put more emotions rather than expanding the mellow effort of trying to reconcile with one another - repeatedly!

I’m mad actually!! Annoyed. How can the side couples have more drama, angst rollercoasters with one another and yet overcome them with the episode; but the main couple stills in tug of war for 7-8 hours! Arghhhhh.

I do find it somewhat awkward having a senior who used to have a crush on you; is now with your brother and currently living together. But then I admire their openness and understanding towards each other; which lead to a loving family with barely any jealousy in sight. Janus & Bomb is beyond adorable. I love their relationship.

Cheque (Venus) sure has a nice voice though. His singing is too adorable & when he’s on his low voice - MAIGOODNESS! Tod (Sky) is sweet and so mischief. My favourite part was when he cheered for himself at the bed & furniture selections.

Beautiful, Wholesome, Charming and Sweet

I don't even know how to explain how beautiful this series is, I don't have an explanation either, I just think this is one of the most charming and wholesome series I have seen in a while.

EP 10 - Made me extremely sad, but also it felt strangely comforting. The fact that they had the little excerpt about Choco in heaven but then we saw clips of there journey together.

Jungwoo & Choco - These two need another wholesome series together, their chemistry is one of the best ive seen in a while. Choco's buff tall body matched Jungwoo small self so perfectly. They were made to act together

Uncle & Milk - Even though we didn't get much from these two, everything they shared was beautiful. Milk was confused on his feelings for Uncle because he had came back for Jungwoo but found love in the process was just photography. They also had extremely good chemistry together and I hope to see them in more

Overall - The episodes were so short, I really could've had them easily be 40 ish minutes, and not got bored or tired with them. With Season 2 (Hopefully soon) coming, I hope they make it has wholesome and sweet as the first episode. I also hope the EPs can be a little bit longer

Doesn't hold up in 2023 for me. Waste of time.

The only thing worth in the entire drama is the main couple. Every other character other than the main pairing was so badly written. I understand one or two characters scheming or being annoying but not every character other than the main pairing. The entire story relies on using side characters to show how good and noble the main pairings are. That's it. That is the whole story. There was no character growth or redemption arc for other characters. Just a sorry or let's be friends again in the last few episodes to reach a happy ending.

At least storylines in dramas have improved tremendously in 2023. When I Fly Toward You (2023) was such an awesome drama in comparison with nicely fleshed-out characters and main pairings not requiring dumb or evil characters around them to make them look good.

Incredible Acting

Story:
I started after seeing the critics reviews. Mostly positive though audience review was poor. Once I began, it felt like this was labeled as a wrong genre "creature". This should have been titled Gyeongseong 1945 or something. Because the story is character driven and I must say Park Seo Joon delivered a tremendous performance in this one. Han So Hee and so does the rest of them did their part neatly. Not high-octane was the only reason people thumbed down I guess. But if you are looking for a character driven, heavily colorful, neatly oriented and glimpse of a creature hunting down soldiers and people apart, this is a must-watch. If you want to watch something that would push your adrenaline, I would suggest going somewhere else.

Acting:
Best TV series of 2023 in terms of acting. Park Seo Joon nailed the role again. Jang Tae Sang is a role as complex as it gets and perfectly embodied by Seo Joon. Colorful, historical and vulnerable Joseon in 1945 with experimental labs and monsters is like a super-combo for the watchers. Not high-octane but a brilliantly character driven story from all angles. Each actor neatly did their part. Han So Hee at the ending episodes killed it. The emotional scenes were perfectly depicted by her. It's a powerful combination with two of the brightest stars of South Korea along with other powerhouse actors. The trapped hospital and the monster did make my heart beat faster. There were enough scenes to keep the storyline fresh. Great Directing, Great Acting and great scenes. Though, it isn't not high-octane with the creature only in limited scenes, it still managed to thrill me. It isn't a creature drama rather a character driven Joseon in 1945.

Direction:
The direction may seem off at first but slowly it became poised in a singular tone. The acting of Park Seo Joon keeps the drama alive till the very end. A fresh, new and charismatic look along with the new language from Joseon Era seemed to have met perfectly by the cast. 6.8 doesn't seem to do justice to the series considering the level of effort that was put into it. I would suggest anyone who is looking for a character driven story with minimum thrills to watch the series. If you are looking for only monsters and high-octane thrills, this will be disliked by you and as I can say from the rating, immensely disliked. But critics reviews were mostly positive since they are unbiased and don't have hatred in their heart. And they were also not expecting only monsters in a series. Most critics labelled it as a 'hit' rather than miss. So, watch for yourself.
