ONE OF GONG JUN'S GOOD DRAMA

I wonder if anyone says this drama is not good enough, I think the storyline is very impressive, there is no boring episode. all episodes are very interesting.

The ending is also good, although maybe people want to see a marriage scene or hug or kiss.
But overal I think the ending is very good, at least not an open ending that we have to think about. the ending is clear, they are together even though there is no kissing and hugging scene from the ending.

The chemistry between the two main characters is very amazing, they can be a cute and mature couple at the same time.

The cinematography is good, the color take of the drama I like. it doesn't damage the eyes by being too bright.

I highly recommend this drama, in my opinion this is one of the dramas that shows Gong Jun's good acting.

Where was this show when I was 20?

This was a fantastic DATING show. I thought it was more of a coming of age at first, but the show definitely gravitates towards romance.

The show starts off with co-ed students attending a made up school and taking "adulting" classes. But you don't fully dive into what they are learning. You see more of their interactions, such as how they are when paired up in a dodgeball game, or putting makeup on a partner, or cooking a dish with a partner. But no dating allowed!

Chemistry basically builds until they reach the new year, and they start to live in a house together as fresh 20 year olds. This is when the no-dating rule is lifted, and they are free to ask each other out. There isn't much going on in the house, aside from going on dates. Other than that, the show is fully based on their interactions.

Every student was so mature! Some were bolder than others, some more reserved. But I have never seen so many mature students in one room before. The way there was no misunderstandings because they were honest to their feelings and spoke their mind as soon as they happened. It was so refreshing watching these new adults handle conflicts better than most would. There were so many cute moments and I loved their teasing playfulness to each other.

Unfortunately the couple I was rooting for broke up after the show, but I am happy for all the friendships continuing after the show!

Average and disappointing

Maybe it's just me but I was expecting contestants to be competing and win on their intelligence and knowledge alone. Little did I know this was a show about making alliances, lying to win and stab people in the back.
The games were good although not as strategic as I would have liked
Many of the people I did not like, both their attitude and fake crocodile tears
All in all, if I had to go back in time, I would skip this show, it's not worth my time... 12 hours I will not get back.

Ridiculous with poor acting, terrible script, and just plain sexist

Y'all were watching the same drama as me right?

I feel like this drama took MISCOMMUNICATION TO A WHOLE NEW LEVEL. I have seen toddlers non-verbally communicate better than these two leads, and frankly all the side characters. And to lie to my face and pretend that these characters are ADULTS, in a professional setting with awards and shit? Shut the fuck up. No seriously. Shut up.

And that one bish second female lead who literally was giving what she thinks was relationship advice, needs to work on holding down a relationship before she speaks. Sure, the female lead was still dumb as hell to begin with, but that bish was saying so many nonsensical things that I wanted to choke her.

The men were suppose to be somehow attractive but I was just confused by all of these idiots. What is so attractive about these type of men? They were awful.

The women felt like traitors to all women-kind acting the way the acted knowing damn well we did not need this shit. It is 2023, stop putting this shit out.

To top of this toxicity and dumb-assery, THERE WAS NO CHEMISTRY in this whole drama. For fuck sake's, AT LEAST have that.

Honestly, I should be blaming myself for watching this when I knew it was bad. I don't know why I did it but I'm only thankful that I at least skimmed through most of it. I don't know who could possible watch every second of this garbage and not skip.

Why so hyped?

Okay!!! I finally watched it and will write my honest review on this series. Me as an amateur Thai BL series watcher, I don't understand the hype about this drama. Maybe because I watched other BLs series such as "I told sunset about you", "Kinn Porsche", " Bad buddy" "The Untamed" or"A tale of 1000 stars" before I watched this series and therefore it has set high standards for me.

The worst thing for me about this series was the story and the chemistry between leads. I mean okay there was shortage of romantic chemistry between the leads here but even though if it was aiming to establish itself as a partial BL and bromance series, It failed terribly. I am not saying that there needs to be more intimate scene ,to make a series better. I always look for the narration and the acting. I mean let's take an example of the chinese series " The Untamed" or "Advance bravely" . These shows made me feel all the sizzling chemistry of the characters in every scenes that have left an imprint in my mind forever.

Also, the idea of the story seems to be intresting and would have been great if done with good execution and acting. They could have been given a better development of the story for the side couple. I also felt a bit of the plot to be slightly homophobic in the story at its initial episodes when Green was portrayed as an annoying character and Tine avoided him. Also the double standards of Tine being annoyed by Green pursuing him , by constantly following him and trying out different tricks and Tine doing the same thing with Sarawat. I mean even though it was supposed to be fake ... I have left no words to say. Just why???

Talking about the leads Both Bright and Win are good actors (considering the other projects) but the visuals and acting here did not aid to make the audience feel the emotions and compassion. Their chemistry was on and off with some awkward moments. I believe this is because the makers of the series did not invest time in workshops and thought the visuals are enough to make people's heart flutter(which seems to be true ,considering the hype).

Overall, it's a okay series and you can watch it for the Mesmerizing visuals of both Bright and Win ( Like come on !! I am really not complaining, they are beautiful)
But other than that , shouldn't expect more.

Very Odd Show

I was excited about this show because I am a fan of Bai Lu, Wang He Di, and Wei Zhe Ming but this show was very odd and disappointing. The overall story was all over the place and I don't think the best actors in the world could save this script.

I felt like most of the casting was out of place. They didn't seem to fit the roles or the characters were just poorly written. There were many instances in the show where the characters just didn't lack consistency with the type of character they were portrayed as and thus their dialogue, choices and actions didn't make logical sense. As an example, Bai Lu's character is this very smart, highly intutive, highly praised woman who is a top Financial Journalist, though she didn't seem to read situations very well. I guess they had to make her character very romantically awkward for the sake of the typical domineering CEO C-Drama trope.

Production wise, this show wasn't the best. Nothing to write home about with the visuals, music, lighting, or costumes. Pretty basic, definitely not a high budget but that doesn't always make or break a show.

For me, this show didn't have a clear direction on the plot and seems like a bunch of random things were just happening to the point where there wasn't any clear character building, growth, story growth, etc. I was at a point of just watching it to watch them because I'm a fan.

I would not rewatch this show nor recommend it to others. If you are fan of the main cast, check it out at your own discretion.

if you love someone, you will always find a way to communicate with them!

honestly at first i thought i had started this kdrama too late (bc i was busy and i was already almost half of the series when i started) but i literally eat every single episode in two days, and i found myself for one month patiently waiting for the next episodes. i'm so grateful for the only existence of this serie bc it made me feel happy for monday and tuesday coming!!
genuinely i don't know how to start, the story, the time travel, the cast, the couples, the music, I LOVE EVERYTHING
I love the way they introduce us to the main story, with this kid called eungyeol who lives all her young life focus on make his parents proud instead of worrying about the things he loves, bc his family for him was always his priority
The part when eungyeol and his father argue in 2023 in sign language was one of the most painful and beautiful scenes i have seen in my life, and after that, this kid "magically" travel to 1995 and meet the young version of his father, I LOVE IT?!
the first thought it came to my mind in the middle of watching the series was "i hope they don't victimize his parents by proving them right about what they believed was best for their child" but we (eungyeol and us as spectators) discovered together how painful was his past (yichan) with his own family, and how awful was life for his mom, cheongah, and why yichan particularly didn't like the world of music his son wanted for his own life, It was a reminder of everything he lost.
The series develops in a good and fluid way, making me more excited every week for a new episode.
But when they introduces eunyu as her mom, i was worried for my beloved couple cheongchan and how painful it must have been for cheongah to feel like she lost the chance to be with yichan because of her return, but after they made things clear with each other (and each couple), it was easier for me to love her character.
If I have to say something about a character it is about how much I loved the character of Cheongah (played by Shin Eunsoo), her construction, her story, the way she saw the world, I felt that she was a very sad and lonely person behind that mask, but I am very grateful that Yichan has appeared in her life (because her son is right, her smile is very beautiful)
I firmly believe that her character is one of the reasons why the public in general loved the story, as it was well described, narrated and interpreted, at all times it was seen how capable she was as a human being, and even if her hearing disability prevented her from doing some things (like when she tried to ask for help for Yichan and couldn't, and then she left because she couldn't do anything else (I cried a lot)), It wasn't an impediment to interacting with the rest of the world bc the problem WAS NEVER HER, on the contrary, it was how the world reduced her to her disability (especially in her own home and how they mistreated her for the same thing???), causing her to decide to isolate herself from the rest.
but finally, he met sekyung, who was the first one who had a nice interaction within the school, later it was yichan, whom he constantly met, and when he discovered that she was deaf, the first thing he did was LEARN TO COMMUNICATE WITH HER the way she needed, not what made him feel comfortable (because he could perfectly write everything on paper) HE LEARNING SIGN LANGUAGE (yichan the fucking standard!) and finally, when his son discovered that she was his young mother, he did everything possible to open the way for her to communicate and relate to the world, something that was prevented for 12 years of her life :( a fact that allowed her to communicate with many more people, eunyu, the band's friends, among others, they always saw her as an equal, adapting to what she needed <3
I think Cheongah is a very complex character and I feel that they handled it very well with the tools they had, both in narrative and acting, I hope that next year they give ALL the awards to Shin Eunsoo for her wonderful performance, no one could have done it better than her (actually rooting for her winning best new actress at baeksang awards 2024).
yichan, my beloved yichan, i'm so grateful it was played by choi hyunwook (aka my baby), he did it so well, his character is so silly (in a good way) but he had his own story too, and i love how they tell us about it, and why he protected cheongah so much!
even if i thought the ending could have been better (in terms of explaining some things, give us some scenes and not deleting cheongchan scenes to us :)), i love it so much, HIS FAMILY DESERVED THAT ENDING
there's a lot of things i want to say about this serie but i think it's enough

if you really want to watch a good youth show with a funny, sad but hopeful storyline, you are going to learn a lot watching twinkling watermelon! i hope you enjoy it as much as i did, best kdrama of 2023 so far!!

and when I tell you this is the kdrama I loved the most in 2023...then WHAT

This is the perfect rom-com to watch if you need a couple of hours of relaxing and happy times.

Let's start with the main couple: in my opinion Lee Jun Ho and Im Yoon Ah have a beautiful chemistry and they worked really well together, they really looked like a strong and beautiful couple.
Gu Won is such a precious guy I wish I could put him in my pocket. I love that's he's not the usual kdrama chaebol who starts off as a tsundere and doesn't start to change until halfway through the series, he's actually an adorable dork from the start, and he's such a pushover for Sa-rang it's actually so sweet how he would do literally anything for her and to win her heart. And he's such a nice guy to anyone in the end, I mean the guy took under his wing mr. No because he wanted to help him during his first day of work and Gu Won actually acted out of his promise to make him his assistant, and then they became best friends! I love the relationship they have.

I feel like Sa-rang is a bit more stereotyped to other general female leads in dramas, what with her being a strong independent woman who doesn't fall at the man's feet after two seconds but, she's also super kind and caring which I appreciated.

But to me, what really makes it in this drama are the side characters. I must admit that I often struggle to enjoy secondary characters and other couples, I often find them annoying and irritating, especially some of the FLs' friends, but I am so glad it was not the case here. Pyung-hwa and Da-eul are such supportive friends, and they're so funny too! Ro-Wun is literally like a prince, and No Sang-Sik was a pleasant surprise too. I love the little group they formed as the "six siblings", I really enjoyed their scenes together.

I noticed this drama has A LOT of negative reviews, especially regarding Gu Won and how he doesn't do anything except courting Sa-rang and how he doesn't care about his position in the hotel and I'm so confused??? Did you not watch all the scenes where he actually goes out of his way to get to know his employees and their wishes, continuosly pushing the hotel council members to do better and appreciate their employees more?

In conclusion:
Is this drama full of chichés? Yes
Is this drama pretty much void of angsty and super dramatic moments? Yeah, kinda
Is that a crime? No. Sometimes, you just need something romantic and funny without any excessive tragedies, and that's okay. If you enjoy lighthearted stories that make you laugh and warm you heart with their simplicity, King the Land is the drama for you.

A Tale of Dark Obsession vs Courage and Redemption

This series by mutual agreement is proving to be the most captivating of all we are currently watching. And there are at least 5 serious contenders at the moment. So if period/costume series are your genre......do not miss it. I promise you will adore it.

It is primarily about one woman named Jiang Xuening (played by Bai Lu) who had an overwhelming and insatiable lust for power. Her obsession became her downfall as it ended up destroying her and all of those who had trusted her. She was so focused on her quest to become the next Empress, that she scarcely noticed the trail of destruction behind her.
She had but one goal…and whatever it cost, that she was willing to do. But once she had achieved the position she had sought...there was little joy.
Her ruthlessness had gained her few allies and multiple enemies.

But of those who had once cared for her...there was one man, a very disillusioned man named Zhang Zhe
(played by Wang Xingyue) who because of her ...now awaited his death in prison.
Still she carried on...until the palace, roiled by unrest, became her prison too.
With the loss of her freedom, she realizes she has only one card left to play. So she strikes a deal with Xie Wei (Zhang Ling) to save Zhang Zhe from prison. If he will agree..she will offer her own life as collateral. When he agrees... she took her life.

But by a strange twist of events…she awakens later in her family home… only as her much younger self.
After the shock wears off, she realizes she has been given a second chance at life. This time she purposes she WILL make all the right choices.

So with the benefit of her past as her guide…she attempts to change her future and her fate. This is her story of redemption.

It is played by a stellar cast:
*Bai Lu as Jiang Xuening is utterly captivating...acting dual parts flawlessly.

A role this complicated and the focus of so many scenes required a especially skillful actress, and wow, is she ever the one!

*Zhang Ling as Xie Wei is a very complex character....shaded by both light and shadow.

We loved him in My Journey to You, but this more challenging role highlights the range of his talent.

He is leaving it all on the table in this one, after this..he said he hopes to do a modern series as this one took a toll on him and I believe it.
He is so sinister at times…that the nape of my neck tingles, yet he can wordlessly look at her with such care..that my toes curl.
He conveys an element of mystery (never giving the game away) and a masterful presence that suits the dangerous setting of the court.
The scriptwriter deserves props for giving him such a wonderful role but... in my view ...he is outperforming expectations.
By far, he is the most fascinating male lead in any series that I have seen in a while.

I simply cannot wait for the fireworks between them...one hug was mesmerizing. He understands her, because he is her match.

*Wang Xingyue as Zhang Zhe is also riveting. I don’t typically fall for the SL and I did not expect that anyone could compete with Zhang Ling in this one. Yet somehow….Wang Xingue manages to do just that. His face is fascinating. And because the chemistry between him and Bai Lu simmers every time they meet that also seems tantalizing. Lol.
But although he is an upright and honorable man, it doesn't appear that he is right for her. Even if he loved her..it is doubtful he could understand her.
They are vastly different in every conceivable way.

Both men are beautifully defined with strengths and weaknesses, but neither are perfect.
They are complicated and mysterious men which makes them oh.... so.... fascinating to watch! Lol.

So here is your setting for the story…and as always I will be back with an update.

Enjoy..this one is gonna be one to rave about!

@Final: This series was epic to the end. The wrap up was perfect, I couldn't fault one thing. I even loved the brief modern scene with the writer where she opens the door and there he is. Perfect tiny tidbit. Likewise...I loved the special episode they included at the end and the behind the scenes were fun as well.
It is clear that this entire cast enjoyed each other and that bonding on set..contributed to the success of this project. Congratulations to everyone involved in this beautiful drama, thank you for all the thrills, the laughter and the tears..it was a wonderful experience. I am happy to recommend this series to you. It will immediately go in my fave rewatch list.

Happy Watching!

slow start... but it gets better

this drama started off really.... boring!
I must admit that I was almost going to ditch it. the first 5,6 episode are sooooo boring but it gets better after.
the middle part was the most interesting. we get some adrenaline thanks to the whole kidnapping drama and we are able to follow the splitted life of Robin and go seo Jin.
I don't know how accurate the drama portraits the did sindrome but "drama wise" it was compelling and captivating. the main actor did a decent job at keeping the two characters separated from one another.

towards the end it gets pretty emotional. I cried during the last 2 episodes.
this drama is not extraordinary but if you don't have anything on your watch list, it is worth a watch.

downside: I didn't particularly like the main female protagonist. the actress was fine but nothing exceptional and the character didn't really have that much depth to it.
the main theme songs are pretty redundant.

if you like funny comedies that's definitely not one of them.

I started watching it as a background drama, as I tought it might be a comedy, little did I know how wrong I was. The story is really good and so is the cast and the acting, they were all great and their performances deserve aknowledgment.
However, the reason of my low rating is because it left me with a very unpleasant feeling, all the situations, how they solve... it made me feel like even in the end nothing will change between them, and eventually the same might happen. I don't think this was the idea of the producers or any one, it is just how I saw it.

Anyway, don't watch this if you want a story that makes you feel that thinks can change, I think that the idea of this drama was a good one, what it teaches, beauty is in the inside is beautiful, the acting as well... but there was something missing for me.

theatrical series that needed tighter pacing especially in the beginning-middle

Overall: although I liked the unique premise, it felt like the director or writer was also the editor and couldn't bear to remove/edit down any of the scenes that they filmed. 12 episodes about 45 minutes each. Aired on WeTV.

Content Warnings: deaths off screen, suicide, self-harm, manipulation, mental health struggles, grief

What I Liked
- unique premise
- production value (lighting, felt very theatrical)
- styling choices (especially that first scene)
- incorporating symbolism/metaphors
- discussion social justice issues such as same sex marriage
- in episode 4 they argued realistically by talking over one another
- bathtub scenes
- they ended the series 7 days before Valentine's Day

Room For Improvement
- a ton narration i.e. telling vs showing, the pacing felt very slow even watching at a faster speed, this story would have done much better as 6-8 episodes, this slow pacing (and it airing over 12 weeks) actually made my point below worse
- Sunshine started as unlikable which is okay, but the audience needed to see character growth before the last minute, finally in episode 8 he seemed to have a little character growth but then his wish undid it, then we saw a little more but by then it felt too little too late
- the mystery/world building wasn't engaging, it was confusing (I think there was a lot of symbolism/metaphors that I didn't grasp), they needed to explain things just a little bit more/more clearly

and i still want to know what grade they Got for the chinese class paper

Overall it is a nice Story to watch, also there are sometimes logical failures (like nueng drives the motocycle while Holding the break ) and the feeling like some scenes have been skipped....
the "i love you and never leave you" but then both of them decide to Do exactly what they promised Not to Do part was very tiering for me. Also the acting from the mother could have been more motherly , the facial expression was sometimes a bit hard/Cold.
but i liked watching the Show as a whole also i still want to know weich grade they get for their work in the chinese class.

A drama made to enjoy

This is one of those series made to enjoy. It has romance, comedy, a little drama and even some suspense. Nothing very pretentious or deep, but a fun love story full of clichés that delight viewers.

It became one of my favorite comfort dramas since I first watched it and I have rewatched it many times.

Park Seo Joon is my favorite actor, and in this series, we see his ability to make people laugh. What's more, the on-screen chemistry between him and Park Min Young is undeniable.

My only criticisms are that some secondary characters are too overacted, and that a couple of chapters at the end were not really needed in the plot (when the female lead is not so focused on the arrangements she should be making).

And since this is a light romance comedy, I understand why it doesn't delve into the traumas and narcissism of the male lead. I agree with it.

Lastly, I can't help but mention that Park Seo Joon's kisses in this series are among my favorites.

Don't waste your time on this.

Wow, I thought I couldnt hate another drama as much as Love Alarm, but here I am writing a review for this sh*tshow I've watched. While I didnt have very high hopes from this drama coz the cast wasnt as impressive as the Bong Soon, I didn't expect the story line to be this bad. The FL - is probably the most annoying character ever. The ML, almost has no personality. FL's mom top-notch overacting. The only character who has a wholesome story is the villain.

I want my time back. This was an absolute disaster and 70% of the people are still bearing with this appalling performance is because of Byeon Woo Seok (bless his heart)
