Favorite Series

I enjoyed this series very much, great story about revenge, forgiveness, finding happiness, and dealing with hard times, It has many layers to the story. It's not for everyone, but I did love it overall, especially the ending wedding. It is a sister series to Forgotten Nights, which I also loved, but once again it's not for everyone since we all have different tastes. It's sad people truly do not understand the story or characters. I would recommend and rewatch as all the couples are beautiful and all deal with different issues and grow over the episodes, you have to understand this is part of a 3 storyline series. I do look forward to the next chapter. The characters and acting were good and they all had chemistry. It was nice to see that they should have different levels of personality and couples coming together. Showing us the different types of coupling that happen. It surprises me that a few are being haters for this series when clearly they don't get the whole overall storyline, but I would hope people see what is really there and how real this can be for the true value. I give it 10 for showing a great story and actors.

Worthwhile Watch

Have to give them props to have made this out of a handful of manga chapters. Watched it purely for Fumika Baba, and it was worth the time. I, personally felt that she did a good job of portraying the introverted, shy mangaka who doesn't have a lot of experience with dealing stuff that comes easy to others.

Although, I feel it could've been expanded and shown properly, for eg. the rivalry with Nanase chan, the assistant kun's confession, relationship with Kiritani-san and Riichi and Hana's individual past stories, how they ended up the way they are today..

Not to mention, there a couple of moments which could've been made a lot more dramatic. Really wish more was there, but alas. Considering the source material, imo, this was a good one.

It can't be helped, for what it's worth, it was a decent show.

It could have been much better

First of all, I would like to thank the Spanish subs because without them, I wouldn't have been able to finish the series. My Spanish is limited but I understood enough to get the gist of it. And... I didn't quite like it.

I'll be honest, the first two episodes were quite good. Good story, good actors, good comedy, I really enjoyed them. But then, I don't know if it was because of the subtitles that I had to read in Spanish or if the story really went down the drain but I lost interest. At the same time, it is quite hard to watch a series about a couple you don't root for. I'm sorry for Fluke's fans but I prefered to see Met with Phum than with Krit. And I actually pity Met. Not only did this poor guy lose his life/body but he also lost his first love and I was quite mad at Krit for falling for Phum when he was in Met's body... Well... I know it's not really his fault but I would totally blame Phum for it because not only did he fall in love with Krit while being in Met's body but he even pursued Krit when Krit asked him to back off and rejected Met in his own house while flirting with Krit just after. Wow! I was so mad at his behaviour, that was so disrespectful! So, I really liked Met's character and story and I was very disappointed that he was not the main character in this love story. Therefore, I quickly lost interest in the story, especially because Krit steals another life after that.

Anyway... Thank God it was short because I don't think I would have continued otherwise...

I wish everyone could Live Their Own Life!!!

I have about 30 dramas I am currently watching and need to finish lol.
I popped on Viki and "Live Your Own Life" is promoting on the home page
and I immediately started watching it even though I had it in plan to watch
as this won't finish until march 2024. I miss Ha Joon after watching him in
"Destined With You", so that is probably why I did not hesitate.

I am currently at ep 5 but had to come on MDL to say how cruel that Aunty
is. Also the Uncle too but not as bad as Tae Ho Aunty. I can't wait to see how
Tae Ho bring her and accomplice down. The FL pisses me off with her annoying
family but come to think of it, she is the only one spending. The brother in college
is sensitive with minimal noise. he really has issues lol. Overall it's a nice Melodrama
to watch with far less entanglement than "The Real Has Come".... If you know!

I will update it along the way.

A Compelling but Unfulfilling Journey - "My Name" Review

"My Name" is a Korean drama series that had me captivated from the very start. Featuring the phenomenal acting talents of Han So Hee in the lead role, it's evident that her portrayal was nothing short of exceptional. So, what did I think about "My Name"? Let's dive into it.

The standout aspect of the series is undoubtedly the acting. Han So Hee's performance is simply outstanding. She brings depth, authenticity, and charisma to her character, making it hard to imagine anyone else in her role. Her ability to convey a wide range of emotions and complexities was a highlight of the show, and her chemistry with the rest of the cast added an extra layer of realism to the story.

The plot, on the other hand, is where "My Name" treads on familiar ground. It leans on some well-worn cliche elements, which might not win points for originality. However, it's a testament to the quality of the acting and the character development that it still manages to be an engaging watch. The series keeps you invested in the fate of the characters, and the pacing is well-maintained, keeping the storyline compelling.

However, where "My Name" falters, in my opinion, is with its ending. It's not the fact that it's a sad ending that bothers me; in fact, I appreciate a well-executed tragic conclusion. What left me unsatisfied was the execution of this ending. It felt rushed and lacking in closure. It left me with a sense of yearning for more, as though the story wasn't fully wrapped up. A more well-crafted conclusion could have provided the emotional satisfaction the series deserved.

In conclusion, "My Name" is a Korean drama with exceptional acting, particularly from Han So Hee, that makes it worth the watch. While the plot might be somewhat clichéd, the character development and pacing manage to keep it interesting. However, the unsatisfactory ending leaves you feeling like there was untapped potential in the storyline. It's a series that leaves you wanting more, but not necessarily in a good way.

The change of cast doesn't ruin this AMAZING DRAMA!

I'm writing this review for everyone that doesn't feel like watching this because the cast changed.
I was also upset, when I found out the main leads would be replaced (actually they didn't want to come back, the director did everything he could) but since Lee Joon GI was cast, I gave the drama one more chance and IT DID NOT DISSAPOINT.
Most of the actors from S1 are gone, but the new ones actually studied the characters and imitate the same mannerisms and keep the same energy, which is good. Also, they added names, every time they showed up till the end of the season, so people won't be confuse who are they.

The storyline is still solid, the Taelha and Tagon character's don't lose their shine. Saya, Tanya and Eunseom have their character development too.

Keep watching.

Nice Acting

The acting from all the actors was definitely the highlight of this drama. I had never seen D.O act and was very pleasantly surprised, would have never guessed he was an idol if I didn't know. The soundtrack was quite nice as well but the story wasn't a 10 for me. While it was in no ways boring and mostly kept you thinking and wanting to know what happened next, sometimes there were little parts of the story that were quite predictable.
Even so I wish I could watch it for the first time once again and recommend it to everyone.

Careful diving into this drama, you might hurt yourself from its shallowness.

Started with a promising premise. All humans, regardless of how famous, smart, or well-off, need love and healthy relationships. Instead of seeing true growth from our leads, we get an ill-advised relationship that was doomed to fail because the deep-rooted issues were never addressed.
Filmed with soft tones and moody vibes, you couldn't escape the shallow interactions and conversations between most of the characters, especially the FL and ML. Doona's persona (looks and vibes) appeared cartoonish, with just enough emotion and doe-eyed stares to take you along for the ride. She insists on wearing crop tops because, you know, when you abandon the K-pop industry, you want to be sure you still look the part and don't get me started on the creepy groomer vibes from the person she's obsessed with.
She meets a seemingly well-grounded, sincere guy who really wants to be her friend and help. Unfortunately, the way it's written, his mind's intellect, and his heart's good nature were no match for the urges in his pants. She needed therapy, not a boyfriend. We get the ending we did because it actually makes sense!

Love Alarm Season 2 - A Missed Opportunity

Love Alarm Season 2 had the potential to build on the intriguing concept introduced in the first season but ultimately falls short in delivering a compelling narrative. It's puzzling why there even is a second season, as it struggles to live up to the promise of its originality.

One of the most significant disappointments with this season is the plot, which feels bland and unoriginal. It often seems like the writers are attempting to take the story in an exciting direction, but they consistently fail to execute it effectively. The potential for a fresh and innovative take on modern romance is there, but the execution leaves much to be desired. Viewers are left wanting more substance and depth in the storyline.

Character development is another area where Love Alarm Season 2 falters. The characters remain disappointingly one-dimensional, and their motivations and personalities fail to evolve in a meaningful way. For a series that relies on its characters to drive the emotional core, this lack of depth is a letdown. Viewers find it challenging to empathize or connect with the characters when they are so underdeveloped.

The unrealistic nature of the drama is yet another flaw that hinders the overall viewing experience. While some suspension of disbelief is expected in any romantic drama, Love Alarm Season 2 often pushes the boundaries of plausibility. The technology behind the Love Alarm app, initially an exciting concept, becomes increasingly convoluted and hard to believe, detracting from the story's authenticity.

In conclusion, Love Alarm Season 2 is a missed opportunity that fails to capitalize on its initial potential. While the premise of the show is intriguing, the lackluster plot, underdeveloped characters, and an unrealistic narrative make it difficult to invest in the series. It's regrettable that a show with such a unique concept falls short in delivering a compelling and immersive storyline. Viewers looking for a well-crafted romantic drama may want to consider other options.

A Mixed Bag of Emotions: "King the Land" Review

Going into "King the Land," I was filled with anticipation, ready to dive into what appeared to be a promising drama. However, as I watched it unfold, my initial excitement gave way to disappointment. The show's plot, while having a sweet premise, left much to be desired. While it eventually wraps up with a cute ending, the journey leading up to it felt uneventful and lacked depth.

One redeeming quality of "King the Land" is the stellar acting by the main leads. Their performances are commendable, displaying chemistry that makes their characters' romance feel genuine. Unfortunately, the characters themselves come across as disappointingly basic and generic. It's a letdown to see such talented actors relegated to roles that don't offer them much depth or development.

Where "King the Land" truly shines is in the second lead couple of Oh Pyung Hwa and Lee Ro Woon. Their love story stands out as the highlight of the show. In fact, their dynamic and chemistry are so compelling that it almost feels like they should have been the main leads of the series. The moments shared by this secondary couple are not only sweet but also filled with a depth that the main storyline sorely lacks.

Overall, "King the Land" left me with mixed feelings. While it had the potential for a captivating plot and boasted some impressive performances, it fell short in its execution. The second lead couple, Oh Pyung Hwa and Lee Ro Woon, added a much-needed spark to the drama, making me wish that their story had been given more prominence. In the end, "King the Land" is a bittersweet experience, where a promising premise and talented actors are let down by a lackluster plot and underdeveloped main characters.

A Stunning Triumph of Emotion and Storytelling: It's Okay to Not Be Okay

"It's Okay to Not Be Okay" is an absolute masterpiece of a K-drama that has taken the world by storm. This enchanting series, created by Jo Yong, is a mesmerizing blend of dark fairy tales, romance, and a deep exploration of mental health, all wrapped up in an exquisite cinematic package.

From the moment the series begins, it's evident that it's not your typical K-drama. The story revolves around Moon Gang-tae (played by Kim Soo-hyun), a caring and responsible caretaker at a psychiatric hospital, and Ko Moon-young (played by Seo Ye-ji), a popular but troubled children's book author. Their lives become intertwined in a complex and beautifully written narrative that leaves a lasting impact on the viewers.

What sets "It's Okay to Not Be Okay" apart is its unflinching approach to mental health. It doesn't shy away from exploring the struggles of the characters, their traumas, and the profound effects these have on their lives. The series portrays the harsh realities of mental illness while simultaneously delivering a message of hope, resilience, and the possibility of healing.

The characters are brilliantly crafted, with each actor delivering standout performances. Kim Soo-hyun's portrayal of Gang-tae's emotional turmoil is both heart-wrenching and endearing, while Seo Ye-ji's enigmatic performance as Moon-young is a revelation. Their chemistry and character development are a testament to the series' depth and emotional richness.

The supporting cast is equally stellar, with standout performances from Oh Jung-se as Sang-tae, Gang-tae's older brother who has autism, and Park Gyu-young as Nam Ju-ri, a nurse who becomes involved in the lives of the central characters.

The production values of "It's Okay to Not Be Okay" are top-notch. The cinematography is breathtaking, with a vivid and dreamlike quality that enhances the fairy-tale elements of the story. The set design, costumes, and visuals are all meticulously crafted to create a truly immersive experience.

The soundtrack of the series complements the narrative perfectly, enhancing the emotions of each scene. The hauntingly beautiful theme songs and the instrumental score add an additional layer of depth to the storytelling.

In addition to the exceptional character development, the storytelling is masterful. The series weaves dark fairy tales throughout the narrative, serving as both a metaphorical backdrop and an allegorical exploration of the characters' inner struggles. The symbolism and metaphors are seamlessly integrated into the story, making it an intellectual and emotional feast for the audience.

In conclusion, "It's Okay to Not Be Okay" is not just a K-drama; it's a transcendent work of art that dares to dive deep into the complexities of human emotions and mental health. It's a story that not only entertains but also educates, fostering empathy and understanding for those facing mental health challenges. This drama is a triumph in every aspect, from its captivating storyline to its remarkable performances, making it a must-watch for anyone seeking a profound and emotionally resonant viewing experience.

A Mesmerizing and Enchanting Journey – Hotel Del Luna Review

As a devoted IU fan, my anticipation for "Hotel Del Luna" was through the roof, and I must say, it did not disappoint. This drama, released in 2019, stands as my absolute favorite of the year, and for several good reasons. From the mesmerizing cinematography to the compelling storyline, outstanding cast, and a heart-touching soundtrack, "Hotel Del Luna" offers a unique and enchanting viewing experience.

Plot/Storyline:

"Hotel Del Luna" boasts a refreshing departure from traditional Korean drama tropes. It elegantly blends horror, fantasy, and romance, making it a breath of fresh air in the K-drama landscape. While it's not exactly spine-chilling, it takes you on an intriguing journey with its layered plot, full of unexpected twists and turns. The flashbacks are used brilliantly to reveal the enigmatic past of the main character, Man Weol, keeping you hooked and curious. Humor is generously sprinkled throughout, balancing the emotional moments and making the series an easy and enjoyable watch. The ending may not align with every viewer's expectations, but it perfectly fits the drama's themes of "letting go," "resentment," "unselfish love," and "forgiveness." These themes are not only thought-provoking within the context of the series but also resonate with life's deeper complexities.

Elaboration on Themes:

The drama's exploration of love's true essence, particularly the idea that letting go can be a greater act of love than holding on, is both poignant and relevant to real-life situations. It forces you to ponder whether it's more loving to extend someone's life at the cost of their quality of life or to let them pass naturally with dignity, sparing them further suffering. These themes transcend the drama and find a place in our hearts.

Cinematography:

The cinematography in "Hotel Del Luna" is nothing short of extraordinary, rivaling other acclaimed dramas like "Goblin." It magically brings the supernatural fantasy world of ghosts to life, thanks to skillful camera work, special effects, and impeccable editing. The production team deserves praise for Man Weol's exquisite wardrobe, with IU looking absolutely stunning in every scene. The visual spectacle adds an extra layer of enchantment to the series.

Acting:

The stellar cast, led by IU and Yeo Jin Goo, delivers remarkable performances. IU's portrayal of Man Weol is a masterclass in acting. She effortlessly conveys emotions and the complexities of her character, making it seem like a second nature to her. Yeo Jin Goo's performance is equally commendable; his emotional scenes feel raw and sincere, displaying a maturity beyond his years. The chemistry between IU and Jin Goo is palpable, creating a natural and genuine on-screen relationship. The supporting cast adds humor and depth to the story, rounding out the ensemble beautifully.

Soundtrack:

The OST of "Hotel Del Luna" is a standout in its own right. Featuring tracks from big-name artists like Taeyeon, Punch, and Heize, the music complements the drama impeccably. The soundtrack sets the mood for various scenes and intensifies the emotional moments. Special mention goes to IU's unreleased OST, which elevates a particular emotional scene to another level.

In conclusion, "Hotel Del Luna" is a captivating and near-perfect drama. While not without its imperfections, it ticks many of the right boxes and leaves a profound impact. IU fans will find it particularly satisfying, as the drama showcases her talents splendidly. "Hotel Del Luna" is an enchanting journey that will linger in your heart long after the final episode. It's a must-watch for anyone looking for a unique and emotionally resonant K-drama experience.

It goes downhill really fast

The story is interesting and it got me hooked in the first couple of episodes, but then I started to realize the FL has no personality. At all. The actress tried her best and she's great but the character is weak at best.
And then the FL from ep 12 on just picks the most dump decisions and that just wasn't for me. I'm not a big fan of the "I'll go to the bad guy to protect my loved one, with no plan and no good reasoning" thope and I honestly think we're way past this cliché.

That being said, I really think the actors did a good work with what they had and the leads had good chemistry.

Love this series!!

I love this series. I'm so hooked... oh geez .. lol. All these fine actors and such deep characters w great storylines.. I really like everybody . I can't think of one actor I don't like, they're all so good. I really like the ML as he is so interesting, like not a super hero yet I just keep thinking what will he do next or what will happen around him. The FL is cute, funny, sweet and really a straight forward girl. I like the setting, all the ladies and their fun moments, etc. Very telling for us girls. ❤️. Anyway I will see this one through hoping for a good ending . I imagine the book for this story must be very good as well. Thank you.

every good story needs a good pacing

first off, I'll start by saying that I really enjoyed this drama. I always enjoy the set up of stories where someone jumps into a comic book/novel and messy moments ensue.

I loved the main cast and supporting leads. you don't often see such a great round up! their characters were fun too even though Rowoon's was a bit flatter compared to everyone else.(understandably so). but even at the end there was nothing to him besides his love for dan o. I would have loved more character development.

my issues lie with the repetitiveness of the story and how stagnant it really was/ felt . the premise was great but ultimate delivery felt lacking.

if you want to something with a similar premise, I recommend that you check out "Fall for you (2022)". It's like a mashup of Extraordinary You and True Beauty.
