This drama is like a warm hug.

Most of the dramas I've watched become my favorite when I go in with no expectations, and because of that, I have been able to enjoy Romance on the Farm to the fullest. If you do plan on watching this, keep this review in mind with a grain of salt, and also try to keep any expectations as bay.

I initially started watching because I mistook Joseph Zeng for another actor lol (Song Wei Long...I know. I've mainly been a K-drama watcher who is gradually re-exploring C-dramas). I just planned to have it streaming in the background as I worked. However, I did not expect to get this attached to it.

The cast is stellar, as in EVERYONE truly embodies their characters' personalities - from the main leads, to the screaming aunties, the homeless-turned-Robin Hoods, the jovial best friend of the main lead, and the scheming cousin (who, despite her dislike for the FL, still has just a tiny bit of heart in her).

The music, sound effects, etc. is perfect! It perfectly fits the scope of this tiny little cozy drama.

As for the series itself: it is a weird mix of genres and elements that just so happens to hit all the marks for me personally, and evokes a certain sense of nostalgia (as someone else mentioned!) which I still can't quite make out: it is my Gilded Chopsticks, my Hometown Cha Cha Cha, my Pride & Prejudice, my Tamako Market, my Harvest Moon, my Ragnarok Online. Very heartwarming, yet not too tragic, it is more of a slice of life with a slight hint of mystery that isn't too deeply seated in a tangled web like Alchemy of Souls or The Rise of Phoenixes due to the nature of it being a game. And unlike Gilded Chopsticks which totally swindled me in the first half with its humorous tones, then tragedy after tragedy, here, you just KNOW everything will be okay here.

I know people have found the "game" aspect to be pointless, but it serves the drama well as I haven't read the novel: although the character's values and motives for her actions seem very modern-day, you forget that as you continue watching and engage yourself in whatever kind of historically inaccurate, but super warm storyline is going on.

Regarding the toxic family: by modern-day standards, absolutely toxic. 100% would drop them. Had to fast forward the first few because I couldn't stand the grandma (who is justifiably nuts considering what she went through). However, it slightly demonstrates how hard it is to be of a certain standing, and the complex nature of relationships when all you have is each other - whether or not in the bigger picture you'd be better off without them. It's not something I agree with, but I can empathize with! When you have so little, yet everything to lose, it's much harder to want to lose anything or cut ties.

ONE OF MY COMFORT DRAMA!

The story in this dama is very simple, but the script is very interesting and flows naturally. It's slow but steady, and it's very heart-pounding to watch.

The story is easy to understand and predictable, but also full of little unexpected details. These details make me really appreciate the production team and cast for making this drama!

I didn't know that I could cry over Sangzhi's heartbreak at his first love for Jiaxu, Zhao Lusi's acting here really surprised me. Especially when I saw the changes between Sangzhi as a teenager and as an adult, it was so different.
Even the way they smile is different! I was left gaping again at Zhao Lusi's level of acting.

Chen Zhe Yuan's acting is also good!
This is the first time I've seen the drama. His eyes really speak and this is another small detail that makes the drama more interesting.

Don't forget the ostinato! They're all very imprinted on my ears and I still play them today!

I'm still rewatching this drama and would love any videos about Hidden Love that pop up in my tiktok.

One thing I really miss in this drama is the consistency of Zhao Lusi's hair styling. It seems like it wasn't given enough attention by the stylist because sometimes it's still curly, then it becomes straight again.

MY COMFORT DRAMA

If this drama is made until season 10, I will watch it!

The story, acting, music and everything in this drama feels right in proportion. The love story is warm and feels very interesting to continue watching it.

The writer of this drama, I really respect you!

Hope to see this doctor's friendship for a long time. They are all so good at acting that they form characters that are hard to forget!

As for the music, I really enjoyed them performing as a band and doing old songs that I liked too. The ost is also very touching, I still play the ost often and it's on my daily playlist.

good drama but i didn't want to rewatch it again T_T

Save me is a very suspenseful and frustrating drama. I distinctly remember seeing how Seo Yeaji was completely neglected by her parents who went crazy because of a cult.

I was so immersed in this drama that I didn't want to rewatch it again because I remembered the feeling of watching it. But it's actually a good drama and very interesting too.

How Female lead struggled so much to get out of the cult's circle was frustrating. Many felt the same way after watching this drama.

The acting was also good with a very complicated role, they all made a good performance, their expressions even made me laugh.

anoter my best K-Drama

I love this drama with its uniqueness that brings about the privilege of hearing. The villain in this drama still makes an impression on me.

Every case faced is challenging and very curious whether it can be solved correctly in the story, always curious.

In addition, I was actually quite disappointed with the ending for the villain who was only shown about revenge by others. It doesn't give the impression of being satisfied after the crime committed but only being punished like that.

I was really curious about who the real killer

This drama is good, the beginning of the story is very interesting and until the end I was really curious about who the real killer was.

The story is very interesting as it engages between the past and the future with a unique crime genre. In addition, I was also frustrated at the end of the episode because the perpetrator of the crime was really difficult to find evidence even though it was in plain sight.

As usual, I always forget about the music and ost when watching crime dramas hahahaha because I'm too focused on the content.

Embarrassingly stupid

I watched the drama till the end, often fast forwarding the scenes I could not bear, just because I like Wei Zhe Ming's, Wu Chong Xuan's and of course the adorable Sun Si Cheng's acting.

The drama claims to evolve around some children's psychologists and I couldn't believe how psychologically harmful the story spins.

The role of the FL lead is so badly written and as badly acted out, too. A "children's psychologist" who tells her client/stepson that his father is crazy and stupid, who allows to be pushed into pretending to have married the child's father, being pushed around, scolded and badly (mis-)treated like a child And besides all the stupid and heavily harmful treatments and comments towards the child (as the story line is, of course) she also tries tooooo hard to act caring and motherly towards the little one. But if you have an eye for it you see that she can't even ACT like that, often not knowing how to hold the child or use her hands on him... she doesn't maintain eye contact with him, unless it is especially needed for a close-up scene. and then it's extremely exaggerated. She also exaggerates being cute and innocent but heavily failing. It doesn't come naturally to her, it always looks like ACTING - poorly. I've seen her in 1 or 2 other dramas but don't remember her that annoying.

I'm aware that the performance of her role is partly dependant on the director and screen writers, who have also done a bad job here. The screen-writing ,directing as same as the editing is so lacking, it was really nerve-wrecking at times...

The ML's acting was well executed and consistent in whole, the same can be said of the 2nd and 3rde ML's, their story development was not as sensless as the FL's.

If you want to see a cute child's heart-warming acting performance and some good looking, well acting male leads and are ready to close down your brains against some illpgical and embarrassing actions and dialogues you can watch this drama.

One of my best K-Drama

One of the best mystery Korean dramas in my opinion. At first I was skeptical about watching it, but when I tried 1 episode, I finished it right away.

It's still the best mystery, thriller and crime drama in my opinion, and I'm eagerly waiting for season 2, but it doesn't look like it's going to happen.

In terms of story, cases, the uniqueness of the dynamics of the story really makes the audience drift into it especially in the last episode.

As for the music, I don't remember the OST at all, but I think the tension in the drama itself made me forget about it hahahaha

The only "BL" that would have benefited from 18 episodes

I'm a lover of messy characters and messy storylines so this was truly the best series for me to watch.
What I liked
- the acting, like wow this cast gave it their all and I couldn't imagine any other actors playing these couples/characters
- the music, AMAZING ost by khaotung and jojo series always have good music
- the writing of ray's character and nick's character, I loved how much growth ray went through in these episodes and I love a desperate loser character like Nick who isn't naive but also a lil messed up

What I didn't like
- the pacing, Boeing's character came in WAYYYYY too late to have to really make a punch with the amount of damage he could have done, if this were 18 episodes, Boeing coming in at ep 10 would have made more sense
- production, this is personal preference and a little bit meta so I won't get too into it but yeah, stop cutting scenes based on fan's perception
- the flatness of Top's character, I feel like with how dynamic Mew is he deserved a partner that also had some depth to him but we know as much about Top as we do Cheum

Overall, I really loved this series and I hope we get a season 2

it’s was definitely great experience .

since gmmtv 2023 line up and the pilot trailer I’ve been waiting for this one to air so bad . I was so excited to see something different from gmmtv other bl’s and only friends was definitely something new to me . since the first episode I was blown away . I was anxious about watching firstkhao new characters and them making out like that was a treat .
as I’m biased here sandray was for sure the best couple , since the beginning I just loved their interactions and the way their story was told .
and ofc firstkhao amazing acting and chemistry just stole the show for me .
I felt so happy during sandray scenes it’s insane .. rewatching their scenes will definitely be my new hobbie until I get my firstkhao 2024 drama
LOVED SAND CHARACTER , ray also had his moments .
mostly hated the way ray treated sand most of the time (ayan could never🤞🏻) because my sand loved him so much since the start and deserved so much better but at the end ray realized he can’t live without his man (🤭) so it’s okay

for the other couples - top and new (force and book) it was my first drama with them so it was hard for me to get attached , their storyline was meh for me since the first episode when top just ask him to be his boyfriend so damn fast.. it’s a no for me . I’ve learned to like them only towards the end .
top was meh . and I just don’t know forcebook enough idk

and for nick and boston , I’m not unsatisfied or surprised at all that they didn’t finish together , actually I’m glad . I wanted them to work so badly but then I’m the last episode still Boston just failed me again , gone to get drinks but them making out with beoing? I was so mad . he needs to work on himself , for now he definitely need a lot more time to change . I’m glad sooooo glad nick chose himself.

LOVED NICK AND SAND FRIENDSHIP, THE BEST PART OF THE DRAMA FR

the entire cheating parts made me angry but it was definitely necessary here ,
mew made me mad most of the time for forgiving top but not Boston untill the last episode .
ray was an asssss for most of the time because of his obsession with me , was so glad it was over .
I wanted sand’s ex to come wayyy more early than the last few episodes . I wassss so happy it was played by mond because of my not me heart but again he came too late (at least they kissed 🤭) and he was an ass also so I’m glad it took them only 2 parts to get him out .

now it’s definitely have flaws , I was hating on every character (except sand my man😘) and the storyline was so messy I lost my mind , but at the end it was new and special , I liked that .

beautifully shot and well acted - raw and real and fun - but still a victim of theatrics

i was really impressed from the beginning with this unique look into LGBTQ+ life in Thailand, because i don't think any other drama has been as realistic as this one. they didn't hold back in exploring character flaws as well as relationships and all the good and bad that can come with them, and for that i have to applaud it. the premise was interesting - a messy group stumbling their way through romantic entanglements while still trying to maintain their friendship, not realizing how delicate of a balance must be struck in order for both types of love to thrive.

spoilers below:
top and mew were never that interesting to me, despite their sweet start. mew's quest for revenge, while initially a fascinating twist in character, soon turned into a drawn out ordeal that i could no longer stomach. in the end they just didn't have enough substance. i wish we learned more about top's issues, and saw mew coming back to himself, but it all just fell flat.

boston and nick were doomed from the start. i liked them together, but i always knew it would have to fall apart. i could see boston being in an open relationship easily, but nick was always too invested for that. in the end i think that this was a nice example of two people coming together to learn more about themselves and then move forward. but i am upset that boston's character regressed a bit in the final moments, and he was sent off with essentially no resolution, while being continuously punished. i think his friendship with the group would have been a better focus for his story.

now, my loves, sand and ray. their storyline gripped me the most. an ill-advised friends with benefits situation that turned into something more, while one of them was clinging onto somebody else. they ran into every obstacle, faced heartbreak at every turn, but among that rubble, they did love each other. ray was a character that was painful to watch, whether i was sad or angry at him, but i think it really was an exercise in understanding. a beautifully told story from start to near finish, until boeing came into the picture. i would have much rather spent the time focusing on ray's recovery and the repairing of their relationship, but instead, we had an oddly placed will they-won't they that served no purpose.

there's no way around it, the ending was unsatisfying for me. i didn't feel that things closed in a well-rounded and logical way. it was stilted and awkward, strangely paced. this was a pretty good rollercoaster for the most part... but it doesn't stick the landing. i think it's because of the changes made to the story based on fan opinions, but no one can say for sure.

solid acting from the whole cast, but first, khaotung, and mark were standouts, and i hope to see them leading future series!

Mini Mix with a Nice End

This is a cute mini with a 'What's Wrong with Secretary Kim' - Kdrama vibe and a twin's twist. The champion fighter impact was quite a change which made the FL quite enjoyable. The chemistry was touch and go. The leads really don't have a 'real' kiss till the end. The trauma points weren't a highlight which is refreshing. This drama was filled with cliches that we see in Cdramas and Kdramas. Nevertheless, the ML and FL are good with nonverbal cues and tension. All in all, it is a solid miniseries that doesn't take itself too seriously.

too corny

I guess they tried to make a wholesome kdrama but it turned out boring, because nothing ever happens! And even the "dramatic" scenes or the "dramatic" part of the story was emotionless.

The main couple lacked of chemistry and sometimes it felt like they were siblings. Maybe it was the acting but Gu Won lost his personality completely almost at the end of the show. Like I get he was in love and everything but it felt like I was watching a completely different character.

Some characters and situations doesn't make sense and I found the whole plot mid.

ANYTHING BUT FRIENDS

Let's be honest, were they really JUST friends? Within the relationships and friendships, there was little trust. But did I enjoy this series? HELL YEAH! I had been waiting for this series FOREVER.

The love triangles are love triangling. At this point, it was more than a triangle.

Sand liked Ray, Ray liked Mew, Mew liked Top, Top liked Mew yet cheated with Boston? AND MUCH MORE CONFUSION WITH WHO LIKED WHO.

Although this series felt like a HOT MESS which believe me, it definitely was at point with there being conflict after conflict, it was still really enjoyable. From the chemistry, to the acting, there were so many things I LOVED!!!

Before anything, let's give a round of applause to the acting. (👏👏👏)

I've always admired all of the actors acting, especially in emotional scenes, but when it comes to Khaotung & First.. DAMN!! They get me in my feelings! GMMTV found such a jackpot when it comes to actors. Not only are they pretty criers, but they also get you emotional. (Me at least) The way Khaotung can express the emotions with his acting just amazes me. I truly do see SO MUCH more potential than what he already has. (Although he's already AMAZING)

Not only is the acting PHENOMENAL, so is the CHEMISTRY!!!! The expressions when looking into each others eyes.. OH EM GEE🥹🥹. You could have paired any of the mains in this series and I wouldn't be mad. Mew (Book) and Ray (Khaotung) with their moments gave me BUTTERFLIES!! Sometimes it felt like they were endgame with their chemistry.

We can't forget that OST either! It's on SO MANY of my favorite playlists and it will probably stay as one of my favorite OSTS from a series for a while.

This series SERVED!! Even with Monds annoying character, Boeing. (Love the actor, hate the character😂)

Now.. Let's talk about the ending.. (Ep 12, a bit of 11)

Mew and Top have now made up SURPRISINGLY after everything within their toxic relationship, Nick and Boston are happy (but will that last?), we found out Boeing is Sands ex (if you hadn't already knew). Boeing just knows how mess every relationship up.

With episode 12..The beginning scene had my jaw to the FLOOR. This whole episode had me like "Ahh!! They're so cute" or "AHH WHAT DO YOU MEAN?" Sand and Ray apologized really quickly for what happened. I'm kind of glad that the whole friend group apologized (even though Boston isn't apart of it really anymore), and some of the couples got together. But am I a little disappointed? Just a tad. I was hoping Boston and Nick would be endgame, but I'm also happy that Nick will work on himself.

DON'T GET ME STARTED ON MIX'S SURPRISE CAMEO. I SCREAMED!! I WAS WATCHING IT ON MY BEDROOM TV AND SCREAMED INTO MY HANDS! MY CAT EVEN GOT SCARED AND RAN.

Overall, it was a fun watch. I would definitely recommend this to someone who needs a little spice in their life!
