Short but interesting

I started watching this series in December 2020. It was not long after I first moved out, could have been before I watched Sotus or after.

The plot was interesting but I am not sure how execution. I felt like if the episodes were longer we probably could have developed the characters and plot more. The plot point of Yeon Woo's missing Mom and him constantly watching the news because of his own fear of harming his probe. He does become obsessed with seeing color and when it starts to fade back to gray you can see his despair of him trying to hold on to the color for a little longer. He even admit that he wants to lock Yoo Han up. Because of this, he feels it is best to take himself out of the equation to protect him. I thought Yoo Han was going to find him, but I was surprised that it was his Aunt. She got back just in time.

His Aunt is overprotective but I can understand her reasoning. She lost her sister, who she is still trying to find and does not want to lose her nephew too.

I am not sure if season 2 will give us more answers to his mother's disappearance. The scene of him seeing his mother's painting in color, and that the ribbon in her hair was yellow was a great scene.

I will admit that there were some great scenes and I liked the chemistry of the characters, It just left me feeling like some questions were answered or was never touched on after they were introduced.

The Best Kind of Bittersweet

Although the unique premise of this series immediately caught my attention, I did not expect much when I sat down to watch it. It turned out to be a pleasant surprise: I was hooked almost immediately – and not only by the attractive actors.

The main thing that makes watching this series such a satisfying experience is that it delivers on its promise. It tells the story of Mono Yeon Woo and his growing obsession with his Probe, Yoo Han, without making unnecessary deviations from the main plot, introducing annoying tropes such as love triangles, leaving glaring plot holes unfilled, or dragging out scenes. The romance between the lead characters is bittersweet and touching. Kudos to the scriptwriters for the crisp, engaging writing.

The acting adds bonus points. Yoo Jun and Hyun Jun might not be the most skilled and experienced actors that BL fans have seen, but they portrayed the struggles of their characters well and had sweet chemistry with each other. They both managed to deliver performances that touched my heart. I was especially moved by the final episode, which I consider the perfect ending for this series. I find season two to be unnecessary, and I am not planning to watch it.

Overall, I think that you should give Color Rush a chance if you are in a mood for a bittersweet romance with a unique premise and a happy ending. Do not let the low production quality put you off. You might love Yeon Woo and Yoo Han's love story as much as I did.

Cute BL story with a fantasy twist. Could have been better.

I loved the idea of the colour rush and the concept of "mono" people seeing everything in grayscale and each one needing a specific, almost fated person called "probe" to make them able to see the colours. I feel that such a strong concept would have benefited of a better worldbuilding, in particular everything related to the mystery and investigation aspects of the drama. Here, it was a bit brushed off and it seems like a missed opportunity to increase the stakes of the story.

Overall, unfortunately the execution was quite poor. The realisation was super cheap (specifically when the colours were rushing through the eyes of the main character). The lines were also quite cheesy and the acting could also have been better. The actors did the best they could but it felt a bit lacking in terms of chemistry and emotions even though the skinship elements were adorable.

Despite all of this, the show was addictive with some cute moments between the main leads. I appreciated a lot the romance and found super interesting the psychological side of their relationship with the idea of obsession that was developed all thorough the show. I would have loved to see more of it.

I would recommend this to people who are in need of some heart-warming quick binge-watch with no deep-meaning.

Interestingly Lovely

Literally just finished watching this and I don't know how I feel to be honest.

The ending felt somewhat abrupt for lack of a better was of saying it, but the build-up to the ending I guess just made me want some clarity on where they would end up. Now don't get me wrong, this series was 8 episodes and based on one of the most intriguing concepts that I have ever come across in life. I literally had to research to see if Probes were a real existence for monochromatic persons. Though it wasn't a long series, I honestly felt like the story wasn't rushed. The way they met was simple and cute ,no clichés, which was nice. The concept of Mono and Probe was fascinating and the decisions made because of the negative side effects of being one or the other had me heartbroken to be honest. Like why should love be so complicated and is any of it really love because as they mentioned. Love and obsession seem to be dancing a lot in this scenario. The length of it may have contributed to my inability to decide if this was really good, because I couldn't fully immerse myself in their "romance" as it left me wanting more. but that maybe a sign of a good thing.

None the less, it was still very nice to watch the story of these two young men develop and the struggle of trying to stay true to not becoming something that you hate or being happy was endearing to watch. The two main actors had enough chemistry between them to make the fight or flight dynamic seem real, but that reveal at the end on the probes part was a lil bit much.

Loved it, totally worth it

At first i wanna say that i didn't wanted to watch this drama cause i thought the plot was a bit basic, and i thought the drama was way more superficial than it actually is. Bu i have to admit that i was wrong watching color rush. I'm not a fan of red flag couples and irl i would be a bit scared, but they're such a good couple and i love them, even tho they're not exactly what you call an heallty couple. I'm happy that they ended up togheter even with all the problems they had, cause i think they complete each other. Irl i wouldn't support a relationship like that cause they're too much coedipendent and basically became really toxic if they're not togheter, so they're on thin ice, but for the plot of the drama, i think it's more realistic like that. The acting is immaculate, and i don't give a ten out of ten in general just because i wanted to know more about his mum story, but overall it's awesome.

Interesting concept

Great story. The obsession with the mum was a bit much, and the ending didn't quite deliver on all the promises, but it was still very enjoyable and a brilliant concept. I really wish the dark obsession (which was the entire point of the show!) didn't just disappear without explanation. I was so fascinated to watch a dark psychological romance with an obsessive ML, and for the most part, it delivered. I think they chickened out a bit at the end, or maybe they were just short on time. I'd love to see it extended and for them to maintain the darkness all the way through. But overall, not bad.

I REALLY LOVED IT.

At first I was so excited because it was from Korea , second I was curious if this will have sad ending or the story won't make sense but after watching this all my queries were flown away . It was superb watching this. Those who haven't liked it or thinks it's average i want to tell them that korea is not like Thailand but yet it has been improved alot in a year or twice. It started from bromance to bl ship then sad ending to good ending and etc. This is complete example of good ending. The story was very fascinating , fancy yet unique and resulted good. I loved it . The actors played their best past (their character). Both were good looking. Sweet moments. I enjoyed watching it. (Note this - it's my review I hope you would watch it , it worth watching ,if you like can comment if you want to)
But if you don't then sorry , maybe we have different views. but I still want to say ,you try watching it.

Lovely and surprising !

Should we start with the story ?
It was great, refreshing and surprising in many ways! Who can deny that the mono probe relationship was not great, refreshing and surprising ?

The acting/cast ? Amazing ! I have no complain about the cast, the cast is completely made for this drama. The main actors have done a fantastic job!

The music was absolutely wonderful, as expected, a bl kdrama is still a kdrama with quality OSTs.

The rewatch value ? Haha, I've rewatched it many times already, and I will certainly rewatch it!

So overall, a good 10 because why not ?

Bond between 2 people

If you're looking for something that will melt your heart and make you giggle and cry then this series is just for you. At first glance this series may seem a bit bland and at times generic to some, however the beauty of this show is the subtly in the passing actions and words behind the characters. I've had to rewatch a few scenes and episodes to fully capture the meaning, however this series is simple yet sweet.

STORY: A mono and probe relationship between a bonded pair of people, seems simple enough, however it gets way more complicated with how it is represented in the show. The character development and story at times can seem a bit choppy due to time constraints and how short the episodes are, however the story wraps up nicely and provides the viewer with sprinkles of subtext and future context. Like a puzzle, the viewer will need to pick up the bread crumbs and pieces in order to understand the full story which is revealed in a compelling way. Besides a few plot holes and unrealistic, and at times, best case scenario idealistic view of the story's problems and drama, the story is well thought out and written, however without any background of the novel providing the extra subtext, can make the experience seem confusing. The arc and resolution to the overall problems of the climax are somewhat too idealist but for the overall premise the story is well written and overall loveable.

CHARACTERS: At first glance the character Yoo Han may seem a bit cold, cruel and even confusing at times, however his actions have a completely different meaning. For viewers who haven't read the novel, his actions may seem cruel. Without the subtext to go off of, viewers may find his character bland or unappealing, however the shock comes with the reveal in his intentions. Although he is the generic bad boy, the depth of his character is slowly revealed. Yeon woo's character is a sweet, caring and loveable character that takes time for the viewer to fully appreciate and love, however the dynamic between the two main leads drives the show and the character development in Yeon Woo is apparent since the show is completely seen through his perspective.

ACTING: the chemistry between the main leads may start off as forced or dry for some, but by the end of the series the audience can tell the growing bond and the growth of the acting skills of the leads. The viewer should take into consideration that the acting may be a bit stiff due how new the main leads are in the acting scene, however it can be easily overlooked by the sweet scenes and overall storyline. However for me, I wasn't able to tell that it was the actors first time acting since they were immersed and passionate in their acting. Due to short screen time, side characters that deserve extra scenes weren't able to have that which would have honestly made the character's backgrounds more solid and could have provided a more solid foundation for the story, however the adorable interactions of the second couple provides comedy relief and a overall sweet break from the gloomy, sad storyline at times.

OST: the main track of Color Rush by Ryu Su Jeong provides a bittersweet context and the lyrics completely tells the story of the main leads and relationship between the main couple. The sweet harmony and wonderful soundtrack "Finding you" drives certain scenes and the humble background music provides depth to romantic interactions of the main couple. The main track honestly tugs at the viewer if you understand the lyrics and how they literally tell the story of the main couple.

REWATCH VALUE: If you want to enjoy something sweet and touching and just have a quick watch to pass your boredom this show is for you. I honestly recommend rewatching each episode at least once to get a fuller context of the character's words and actions to completely immerse yourself in the series since certain future context can be easily overlooked due to the short episodes. The romance is totally worth the long wait between the main couple and carries the show right from the start and is the driving element of the show.

Overall this show is a sweet diamond in the rough and the storyline really drove it and carried the weight. It is really underappreciated and the story is really what drives the series along. The acting, story, and characters are bitter sweet and the romance is written in a compelling fresh way. The Sci-fi elements are honestly a breath of fresh air and I completely recommend this series!

I'm a sucker for bl kdramas

Oh.. my.. god.. I absolutely loved this series!! I've always liked these kind of concepts and it being a love story made it even better. The story was very well made, I even posted a post saying I would procrastinate watching, but I just couldn't stop thinking about what's going to happen next. I also think there could be potential for, maybe not a whole second season, but like a special episode or something, since the ending was very open.
One thing I love specifically about the latest bl kdramas is that the production value is very high, sometimes even better than straight kdramas. The experience watching this was truly wonderful; I couldn't take my eyes off even for a little bit, although I usually sit on my phone while watching.
The actors had good chemistry too and their acting was beautiful. I think they portrayed their character's emotions very well, especially the harder parts, like color rushes. I'm a bit sad they didn't really develop the aunt's character, but, oh well, can't wish for everything right?
Overall, this will most likely get in my hall of fame. :)

Interesting premise, characters, sweet promises, but as always for BL kdramas, it falls too short

If you hate short dramas and hate dramas that don't follow through on most or every plot thread, then you don't want to watch this. This is more like a preview than anything else. Each episode is about 15min long with eight episodes, so ultimately, you only get about two hours of the drama--so more like a movie than anything. Because of this limitation, not everything will be addressed--and there are several threads that are so intriguing but ultimately isn't given the attention. Also, *trigger warning* for suicide--I can't remember the exact episode but I want to say it's episode 6 or 7.

This drama is solely focused on the two main characters and their growing relationship, but mostly shown from Choi Yeon Woo's POV. The premise is that in this human world, there are humans with the condition of "mono," meaning that they see things in grey and grey colors only. This is different from colorblindness, though, because monos have a chance to see colors if they find their "probe." The driving tension is that Choi Yeon Woo fears finding his probe due to the many cases of monos going crazy without their probes and ultimately doing horrible things to their probe--like murder. He doesn't want to become like that. The driving emotional tension is that Choi Yeon Woo's mother, also a mono, disappeared four years ago. So, he goes through stages in reconciling with the absence of his mother.

Aside from the discontent that comes from an interesting premise that isn't fully filled, this drama otherwise is beautiful. Strong cinematography with beautiful actors, it is at many times moving. The actor for Choi Yeon Woo carries the show on his back as, again, he's the main focus and the one where we are seeing the world from, so he has a lot of scenes with varying degrees of seriousness and emotions. The actor for Go Yoo Han was fine. Nothing extraordinary, just fine. I think if the drama was longer, he might've had more chances to show different emotions.

Overall, a drama that deals with some hard and dark themes but with a dash of hope and sweetness that comes from the main leads.
