An Absolute Classic! Must Watch!

This is honestly a classic, and it was super popular for a reason. It's such a great drama.
The story is a tad bit cliche in places, but overall it is more unique and interesting than regular dramas. It's got great cinematics and writing.
The actors/actresses are phenomenal; every character is played by a great actor. The chemistry between the main characters is outstanding. The sad scenes are heart-wrenching, the happy scenes are so uplifting. It's just such a wonderfully made drama. The ost is great as well. You certainly need to check it out.

If you're just now starting dramas I would certainly recommend this one as a starter. If you haven't watched it yet you should.

best drama

my first korean drama and i absolutely love it. Kim Soo-hyun now is my favorite actor after lee min ho. i have watched later person of interest as i love romantic drama with some supernatural scene . so i absolutely love this. Besides i watch korean drama with hindi remix songs. The dramas are natural and show on the daily life relating to our life. I wish to watch second season. Alien type drama is really good. I just completed this within 7 days. I was so much obsessed about it .This type of drama should be done more.

I’ve probably rewatched this drama a couple of times already. This drama blended the all the right formula and become the drama crack when it aired. I was definitely addicted. Many things could have gone wrong with the alien, narcissistic actress and psychotic villain but surprisingly it hit all the right notes and delivered a well loved drama. The character were well written and the delivery from the actors couldn’t have been done any better but Cheon Song-yi our ‘tad bit narcissistic’ and quite dense FL really stole the thunder. “Sorry” is still stuck on my brain after 5 years of its airing. Couple that with our uptight grandpa youthful looking alien Do Min Joo and we got the best opposite attract couple; I could watch their antics forever. It’s not a perfect drama specially the cartoonish villain but that also became a trend with him petting his ring equals one persons death but yes. The good far ought weight the bad.

I would recommend this drama solely because of the excellent acting portrayed by Jeon Ji Hyun in her role as Cheon Song Yi. Cheon Song Yi is one of the most lovable female characters I've watched. She presents an abrasive personality initially, but demonstrates a strong sense of respect for herself and her loved ones, with a somewhat innocent (and thoroughly amusing) side when it comes to the man she loves.

Do Min Joon is a very old man--well, really he is an alien who has lived for many years on Earth but because of his alien lifespan, he still looks as young as ever. Kim Soo Hyun does a decent job in this role. Do Min Joon provides a good contrast to Cheon Song Yi's overflowing personality.

The side characters are what you'd expect from a kdrama, but they play a satisfying role in the story and are not lacking.

"You are my destiny~" I have a feeling this song will become one of those iconic romantic kdrama songs--the kind of song that starts playing at the beginning of any romantic scene, meant to pull at your heartstrings. For me, the song is very cheesy (but hey, it is a kdrama), but I think they were successful in using an iconic song that will be immediately associated with this drama as I heard it playing throughout Asia, months after the drama had finished airing--this was definitely a huge hit when it aired.

Despite certain flaws in explaining the alien element, I would still definitely recommend this if you're looking for a fun romance with a little bit of drama, as the main characters will keep you entertained for the whole show.

lol i liked it

ok maybe im just a rabid fanbut are we watching the same drama yall? It was great. I rewatched it after 7 years so it was like watching it for the first time but not once did i feel any of the flaws. Okay fine at points its cliche and the ending is a tad bit too convenient BUT HOW CAN YOU NOT LIKE THIS. .

2 for the music because you AARE MY DESTINAY got very very old real quick. Plus its been used on those meme edits so I cant take it seriously. No problem with the acting, and the ML was wooden but thats expected from his type of character. Female lead is annoying but thats fine! Thats the whole point. Its funny. Ish. Ill warn for some severe second hand embarassment virtually every single time she opens her mouth BUT I dont even care. I love her just the way she is
No chemistry? As IF

ok but I will admit that at multiple points I end up wondering wth the ml sees in the fl. Shes stupid and plain vapid. Which is okay but whatever. I still want them together though. I guess shes endearing. Probably. Lmao.

Okay she kind of sucks but its FINE. I promise

To be honest i think the only reason he likes her is her face in effect lol.
So the lob part kinda sucks but oh well

I woukdnt rewatch it rn but maybe Ill wait another 7 years to do so again

I know this is probably one of the highest rated dramas around. There's good reason for that. It's really good. The story is complex enough to keep you interested. The acting is great too. The female lead is cute, funny, and heartbreakingly real as she navigates the ups and downs of a failing career and her first real love connection.

There were a few too many tropes for me to fully throw my heart into giving it a 10 though. I wanted to like it a bit more than I actually did. It wasn't slow, it wasn't dumb, it wasn't poorly scripted or acted but something just didn't work for me for some reason. I can't say exactly what. Maybe I was just over tired or distracted by my life. Who knows.

I would definitely recommend this drama. It's unique enough to not feel like you've seen it a billion times. It's a typical love story, true, but the writers play a bit to make it clever and cute.

To be honest, I ended this drama a little while ago, and it was one of the firsts ones I watched, but I loved it. The acting is so freaking great, I got goosebumps while watching it, and also cried a lot. At first, I wasn't convinced by the plot, but in the end, I liked it. The music is so well chosen, every time it sounds I got so emotional and hyped. The relationship between the female lead and the male lead is so great, the go along so well and it’s not even tiring to see it. To be honest, I wasn’t sure if I would like it or not when I started it, but in the end, I really love it. I recommend it to everyone I know hasn't seen it yet.

FIRST KOREAN DRAMA I WATCHED.

And I was completely sucked into the K dramaland with this one.
Loved the story, original and kept giving me plot twists and tears. It made me cry, and that was powerful as I first entered the dramaland.

I loved the actors, especially the FL and ML, they are among my favourite korean actors. They had great chemistry too, and definitely believable love was shown. Also Loved the main Villain, a great actor he is.
This show is definitely one of the more romantic korean dramas out there, and the special effects were great along with the action. Definitely bravo to the director and production team.

The music was amazing, Hyorin was singing one of their songs.
The main song my destiny is great and well fitting.
I have already rewatched this drama 3 times, and will definitely rewatch again.
Thank you for reading my review! :)

It was a little rough at first for me, I was not a huge fan of Chun Song Yi throughout the drama, and Do Min Joon had his moments, but I did enjoy watching this. I had actually found out a day or two before I started this drama that this was the original drama that My Amazing Boyfriend 1 and 2 were created from, and I was curious to see how the adaptations differed, especially since I kept seeing this drama on everyone's recommendation list. And let me say, this version makes me almost dislike the Chinese version and makes me want to go back and give it a lesser rating. But I enjoyed how I was able to compare the actors and how they portrayed the characters. I learned that Chun Song Yi is not my type of character. Yes, she had small moments here and there especially when her and Do Min Joon had their little moments where nothing in the world could tear them apart. But that is another thing that I didn't like about this series as a whole - the ONLY people who were sabotaging their relationships was themselves. I was not a fan of Min Joon a majority of the drama until he realized what was more important to him, going back home after 400 years of being on earth or being with the woman he loves for a undetermined amount of time. At that point, he was willing to do anything and everything. Song Yi on the other hand, when she wasn't stalking and rambling on to Min Joon about why she is amazing and why she would be the perfect partner, she would be sabotaging herself basically acting the opposite of what she has been saying about herself in the beginning. Honestly, I was only watching for Lee Hui Kyung and Lee Jae Kyung. I haven't loved another villain since Strong Woman, but Jae Kyung takes a solid second place in my book. He was really a psychopath who I thought was funny because he would do wild things like point a gun in someone's face, but the moment he is caught, he tries to play it off like it was a fun game among friends. Surprised he wasn't caught before, but I think that is why I loved him. And it isn't a spoiler since we've known from the beginning that he was the bad guy. Killing was second nature to him as well as giving terrible lies that didn't make sense. Hui Kyung on the other hand was honestly my drama boyfriend throughout this drama. All Hui wanted was to have the perfect family and be with the love of his life Song Yi after 15 years of chasing her. Even after she expresses her feelings toward him as a friend and how she loves someone else, he still treats her like the a goddess. Given that he said he would never stop fighting for her, but take a step back, waiting for Min Joon to mess up, but he was a loyal friend. Maybe it was because he was super bubbly and would literally sacrifice himself for her regardless if she was in love with someone else. He wanted nothing but happiness for her, even if he had to sacrifice his own. I didn't say it was a healthy relationship, but how can you not love the guy?? I also enjoyed how they didn't play out his relationship with Yoo Se Mi. He shut her down right away. And it might be mean to say that, but I honestly disliked Se Mi way more than I hated the actual villain of this drama. Shoot, I thought she was the real villain. And I wanted to like her so badly, because I like Yoo In Na, but maybe there lies the issue. Maybe I am actually not a fan of her characters. Whatever the point, I don't understand why people took her side and thought she was innocent. She was psychologically abusive to Song Yi. She was so back and forth, I wasn't even sure if she was actually good at the end. I think that is the one thing Song Yi did right. Even though no one believed her or sided with her when they would get into arguments, Song Yi knew her true nature and never backed down.
Overall, I really enjoyed this drama. It was a little long for my taste and maybe the back and forth sabotaging could have been cut down a lot, but I loved how it was a drama about an alien who lived on earth for almost 400 years, but in his last 3 months, he learned what it was like to be human. I loved the little lessons he would teach in his class and how they were different traits on animals and humans on earth and how they tied into his life, going through the different feelings of human relationships. I also loved, even though it made me ugly cry, how the ending was a lot more realistic than a typical happily ever after. They took one of the biggest issues with their relationship and actually made it a real issue that couldn't easily be solved by true love, but instead made it a situation where regardless of what happened, they would find their happily ever after and fight for one another and make it work. It wasn't ideal, but they were able to conquer their own doubts and insecurities about their relationship and able to live a happy life.

Cliché Done Right

I was skeptical about this one because I knew it had some older graphics which are very obvious in the current times and really spoil the whole experience for me in general. However I was pleasantly surprised with how the show unfolded. It was light, breezy with a hint of melodrama, how these cliches tend to be. I LOVED Jun Ji hyun, both her performance and her character, it was the comic relief that I needed and actually laughed at her quirks. Kim Soo-hyun also grew on me over the course of the show but I would have been bored to death if it weren't for Song I (FML).

The epilogues were a nice touch and I really enjoyed them. The SML also actually played a role in taking the story forward which is kind of nice. Everyone else did a good job but I really did not care about them because the chemistry between the MLs was so good. There was nothing new in the story, but the delivery was funny and engaging. The melo was in check, just the right amount. I would have wanted to know more insight about the ML's life before he came to earth and not just his life on earth but even I know that is asking too much from a rom-com.

The OST is fantastic, the cinematography is good, considering this drama was released 9 years ago. This show has aged well and I can see myself watching it again after a couple of years.

I'm writing this review with tears in my eyes and my nose running...WHY THE FREAKING HELL HAVEN'T I WATCHED THIS DRAMA BEFORE

I really need a season 2. I did not expect it would be the way it was,i didn't even expect to cry. Both actors and actresses made the drama so real and emotionally accurate.Hands down Jun Ji Hyun and Kim Soo Hyun are one of the bests out there. And i'm not even talking about the plot...WHAT AN AMAZING MASTERPIECE . I'm dreaming on marrying a korean, but f this idea. NOW I NEED A KOREAN ALIEN.
And I don't even watch sci fi dramas or movies, but this was perfect. It had that twist of sci fi but it wasn't overwhelming at all.

So overall, this is a quality drama that is definitely worth watching. Visually stunning, at times absolutely hilarious, and at other times, deeply touching. *YOU ARE MYYY DEEEESTINYYY*

Tearjerker that I almost missed

I binge watched this whole drama in one sitting, I'm not kidding. I had dropped this after watching a few minutes and tried to watch it many times, then I sat down and started watching, since I noticed Yoo In Na was in it. I stayed for the romance and unexpected events.

I cried everytime Song Yi cried, I honestly don't know if it's because I was really into the acting or maybe Jun Ji Hyun had an amazing crying face and it made me cry also. lol

I loved how Song Yis family was reunited and her mother realized her love of money wasn't as important as her family.

I feel like I keep saying I loved, but honestly the music was so great! Those really made the scenes. The actors and actresses were a fantastic choice and the visuals weren't that bad considering the year it was released.

When the end was near I was a bit afraid that the ending would be like Edward Scrissorhands and they wouldn't meet again at all, I was wishing for ending like My Roommate Is A Gumiho. And the result was neither one of them which made me happy and sad. It was unique.

It's definitely worth a watch!!
