Aging like fine wine but reduce your expectations a bit

This old gem has been recommended to me over the years and so I started it with high expectations. I advise you to reduce those expectations a teeny bit. Cheon Song Yi is such a breath of fresh air as a leading lady but I eventually got exhausted by the stoic Do Min Joon . It's a personal preference to have the leading man be expressive but praise to Kim Soo Hyun for portraying the role so well. With that said, I found myself more interested in the side story between Lee Jae Kyung and Lee Hee Kyung rather than the love story of the two main characters. Lee Hee Kyung is definitely one of my favorite characters.
The acting is great, genuinely funny, and definitely some scenes gave me slight agitations. With sci-fi elements and a sideline mystery, this drama sets itself apart by blending multiple genres into one central story without being overwhelming. The drama is also able to fall back on rom-com k-drama tropes we love adding to its charm. It's definitely a must see but because of it's unique nature your personal taste matters.

The story was good and kept your interesting in the drama. Good balance between intrigue and romance.

I thought that some characters were only superficial and lacked depth. Some overacting too unfortunately which impacted my overall enjoyment of the series. This explains the low re-watchable score. Still there are many funny interactions among them that are worth the watch.

The soundtrack was good.

Overall it was enjoyable as a first watch. My second watch years later was not as memorable.

Aww everything was awesome perfect outstanding ............................. just sometime song yi show no dignity means like a person who has no shame but hero expressions were so good according to his act cold but the feeling which he transfer clearly without even saying a single word was his sadness , how much he was hurt to leave someone behind whom he love more than anything even his own existence

just think about u live for thousands of year like other then u no one exist ( u hold no one dear ) but when u have to leave or die then some one came in ur life whom u hold dear then anyone else and are ready to give up on everything just for that person but now u cannot do any thing in the end that person is left behind ..................... it truly hurts

I give my 10/10 because I love this story and I watch for the second time.
Felt like I met the perfect 400 years old Alien!
I missed their 7 daughters and 5 dogs!

This drama hooked me from the 1st episode for following reasons:

- Not only a beautiful story but it's not boring to watch;
- The story flow was done great;
- I fell in love with main leads for their beautiful chemistry even though KSY looks bit younger than the JJH;
- KSY's acting was great as an Alien who is mature, brilliant and clam nature where as JJH who is hot tempered and think of high herself but good heart. JJH stole the story portraying her humor and hot temper;
- Also the second main leads connection in the story was well done;
- The songs were amazing but I wish the back ground music change a bit in some episodes;
- Love this story and worth watch it!

Awesome!!! The story is wonderful, like a dream all young women have, prince charming coming to the rescue. The ML is handsome, kind and good even though he is a reluctant hero. FL is snobbish, spoiled and over the top but guarded and wary because of the industry she is in and her past with her father leaving. The ML and FL are beautiful and beautiful together. The story is well written and believable. It's romantic, thrilling and keeps you coming back for more. No where did I want to skip a scene. The ending is logical and satisfying. Watch this drama you will not be disappointed.

**I have made a few edits after re-watching this drama recently**

!!Contains VERY minor SPOILERS!! -- !!Contains VERY minor SPOILERS!! !!

For starters, I am a HUGE fan of Kim Soo Hyun. I've seen him in a few dramas and movies and I'm always impressed with his acting and on-screen presence. He really is one of the best actors in his generation.

I've never been a big fan of Jun Ji Hyun though, but she totally won me over in this show. I love dramas that show a lot of character growth so the fact that Chun Song Yi was rather un-likeable in the beginning and then became such a charming character by the end has a lot to do with some great acting, in my opinion. Plus, it just makes for a much more interesting story.

Overall, I loved everything about this show. Even the "You are my deeeeeeestiny~~" song really grew on me, so I'm unashamed to admit that I might actually stop and remiss for a bit whenever I hear it playing in stores (*Edit: I was living in Korea at the time).

My biggest disappointment (and the one thing that is keeping me from adding this drama as one of my all time favorites) was the general trajectory of the plot. I feel like way to much time was wasted during the show on things I really didn't care about while the producers had such an awesome chance to explore so much more. This is a genre that's relatively new to the Korean drama scene (at the time it aired), so I was curious about a lot of things that were never addressed and so many missed opportunities that just passed by. Oh, well. It's a minor complaint really.

One of my favorite things about the show is that it remained lighthearted and funny throughout it's run. Any seasoned drama fan will agree that this is a rare feat. Usually shows become boggled down in melodrama and angst towards the end but even when You Who Came From The Stars was being serious, it still managed to throw in some humor. Plus, it never lost it's ability to pull on my heartstrings either. So many sweet moments! It was just about the most perfect combination of heart and humor that I've ever seen.

I will miss this show a lot. I'm happy it had a successful run, and so happy for Kim Soo Hyun for getting another ratings hit. I just hope this doesn't mean he'll be leaving television and moving to the big screen permanently! Crossing my fingers~

(Only my own opinion.)
I personally adore melodramas as every female individual of my family does. I think it's in our blood. Talking about this melodrama I suppose my ranking tells everything. First I didn't want to watch this drama because the female protagonist wasn't lovely for me. The male one was one of my favourites but still this wasn't enough. After a while I decided to watch it because of my friend. I can tell it was one of my best choices! Even my 13 years old brother loved it. He has been rewatching it since then. So am I.

THE PLOT is very simple but still creative and not far-fetched. The whole story is set around an actress whose personality is astonishing, bit childish and staggeringly loveable. The male main character is a bit boring at the beginning but also very funny and characteristic. Their plays are amazing. They make you laugh and cry at the same time, they can pass all sentiments not only descently but in an awesome way. There is exhilaration, sadness, struggling and everything which is needed for a powerful drama.
And they are hilarious! So many jokes that are not ridiculous but actually funny! Even from the beginning right in the first or maybe second episode. It worth it for watching in terms of acting and plot.

THE MUSIC is descent. I can't say I loved it or would download it because it wasn't bad or good either. They were like okay. But still better a bit than OK. It slightly worth it to watch in terms of music.

THE VENUE of it is breath-taking sometimes but definitely better than OK. They make you imagine a great place to live, a place where you want to be in 10 years. It's not like being a billionare but like being a higher-budget person than a normal citizen. It may worth it for watching in terms of the venues.

It is TOTALLY rewatchable. I've watched it for the 2nd time already. Must mention that I've watched it a few days ago for the first time.:) And I'm not really easy to convince about the quality of a drama. (And I don't easily change my mind.)

In total: I OBVIOUSLY RECOMMEND IT FOR EVERYONE WHO LIKES FUNNY, GRIPPING, PLAYFUL ROMANCE WHICH BEGINS WITH THE PROTAGONISTS NOT KNOWING EACH OTHER AKA FROM THE MYSTERY. WATCH IT, PEOPLE, WATCH IT. It is one of the must-watch dramas for sure! Now I understand why people recommended it so much for me.:)

Woah, I can't believe that I have finished this drama in... 3 days! I didn't even wanted to watch when I found out about it, because the poster is so ugly in my opinion (yeah, I'm superficial), it has 21 episodes and I don't really have the patience, and the story sounded silly for me.
But I decided to give it a try and I regret nothing!
As I said, the story sounded kind of silly. A perfect-looking alien landed on Earth 400 years ago, and then he falls in love when he has only 3 months to stay on Earth. But as I watched it, I really enjoyed it. I really liked the references to the past. Some were very sad, some were just hilarious. I really liked how the story went, how the comedy was so nicely combined with the melodrama, and with the supporting story (if I can call it that way).
The acting was great, and the actors did an amazing job! I actually lived with them the happy, and even the sad moments! I really liked all the characters. Kim Soo Hyun was amazing in the role of Min Joon (or should I call him Da Mon? lol)! Also, Jeon Ji Hyun was great, even if in the beginning I didn't really like her, she did an amazing job! And Song Yi was a really great character, I have often identified myself with her. Park Hae Jin also was good, and I liked his character a lot. As much as I like Yoo In Na, I think that she didn't sell her character quite well, she just seemed sweet and innocent all the time, even when her character was technically showing her teeth.
The music was great, I really enjoyed the OST!
As a rewatch value, I gave it a 9, because I may want to watch it again in the future, I really liked this drama.
Overall, I give this drama a 9.5. If you want to watch a drama where you can laugh, and cry at the same time, where you want something serious, but not too many complicated things, misunderstandings and bullshit between the leads, you should definitely watch it!

This drama is a perfect blend of comedy and melodrama. The main character "opposites attract" and chemistry factors were unbelievable. Of course, the plot was somewhat generic and quite predictable at times, but the romance portion of the it was very fast moving and well-developed. This is totally random, but I loved that the creators incorporated some American pop and classical music into the series, which made it more alive I guess.

Great drama overall. Though the ending left many unanswered questions, I would still re-watch this over and over again for the cute and funny moments!

I'll give this drama a 10/10. I can't comment anything that much because I can't find a flaw in this drama . Everything's perfect. The story, plot, characters, actors/actress, scenes, chemistry and even the OSTs. The ending might not be that satisfying but overall this drama is good. The pace of the drama is not fast and you can really understand every episodes/scenes. All episode are worth it. This drama is worth it. I'll recommend this for you to watch. You will really love/like each episodes. They really gives justice to the characters they play and they act it perfectly. For me this drama is good and even though it has 21 episodes, I didn't even find one of it boring. ^-^

Great actors - good storyline - worth the watch

"My Love From Another Star" is a delightful and enchanting Korean drama that weaves together elements of romance, fantasy, and comedy into an engaging and heartwarming story. With its unique premise, charismatic cast, and a perfect blend of humor and emotion, this series has captivated audiences worldwide.

The drama follows the extraordinary love story between Do Min-joon (Kim Soo-hyun), an alien who has been stranded on Earth for centuries, and Cheon Song-yi (Jun Ji-hyun), a top Hallyu actress. As Min-joon's time on Earth nears its end, he finds himself falling in love with Song-yi, leading to a beautiful and bittersweet journey of love, sacrifice, and destiny.

The standout feature of "My Love From Another Star" is the impeccable chemistry between Kim Soo-hyun and Jun Ji-hyun. Their performances are charismatic and endearing, creating a believable and captivating on-screen romance. Kim Soo-hyun brilliantly portrays the otherworldly nature of Do Min-joon, blending a stoic demeanor with subtle moments of vulnerability. Jun Ji-hyun's portrayal of the vibrant and quirky Cheon Song-yi adds depth and humor to the series, making her a lovable and relatable character.

The drama successfully balances fantasy and reality, infusing elements of science fiction with everyday life. It effortlessly explores the challenges of love across time and space while incorporating relatable themes such as identity, loneliness, and the pursuit of happiness. The well-paced narrative keeps viewers engaged, with a mix of lighthearted moments and poignant emotional beats.

"My Love From Another Star" also benefits from a strong supporting cast that brings depth and charm to the story. The relationships between the characters, including Song-yi's hilarious interactions with her loyal friend Yoo Se-mi (Yoo In-na) and the endearing bond between Min-joon and his neighbor Lawyer Jang (Shin Sung-rok), add layers of warmth and depth to the overall narrative.

Visually, the drama is a treat for the eyes. The stylish cinematography, beautiful set designs, and fashionable costumes enhance the viewing experience, adding a touch of glamour to the story. The attention to detail in capturing both the modern-day settings and the flashbacks to the Joseon era adds depth and authenticity to the production.

While "My Love From Another Star" is an overall delightful drama, it does have a few minor flaws. Some viewers might find certain plot points predictable, and the pace may feel slow at times, particularly during the middle episodes. Additionally, a few supporting characters could have been further developed to enhance their impact on the story.

In conclusion, "My Love From Another Star" is a heartwarming and enchanting Korean drama that successfully blends fantasy, romance, and comedy. With its stellar performances, engaging storyline, and visually appealing production, it has earned its reputation as a beloved series. If you're looking for a feel-good drama with a touch of fantasy and a heartfelt love story, "My Love From Another Star" is a must-watch that will leave you with a smile on your face.
