no wait come to think of it, age of youth has a lot of romance. (compared to beginners and tumbling)

J-drama has a lot of non-romance theme or their romance is so subtle:
http://mydramalist.com/650-kisarazu-cats-eye (my favorite)
http://mydramalist.com/2663-don-quixote (this one is so funny too with swapped bodies)

I agree with Nobuta wo Produce and to add, Yamada Taro Monogatari
Just finished watching Yoiko no Mikata, it's about a male kindergarten teacher, it's mostly comedy with almost no romance.
Definitely:
Ie uru Onna
Rookies
GTO
Gokusen
My boss my hero
another 1+ for nobuta wo produce & I'll suggest juhan shuttai as well.
I truly wish there was an easier way to quote someone.

But I agree with IzzyDramaLover for the most part. Those are strong recommendations.

and of course many others too.

There is! ... go to "Advanced Editor" .... select "¶" .... select "Quote" from drop down menu .... then paste someone else's quote in the blue box! ....
not as simple as hitting a "reply" button, but not too hard either :P
