The 1st ep was boring but I decided to give the 2nd ep a go because there wasn't anything else to watch and what I liked is that this drama explores one very interesting issue - and that is favoring the son over the daughter. I see it in my culture as well and I like how the drama shows the new generations of Koreans who want to leave these patriarchal notions behind. Just because she is a woman that doesn't mean that she is worth less. I hope they'll go in that direction and not fill the rest of the episodes with cheesy cliches.

You basically described the plot of the whole Itazura na Kiss franchise lol I agree though, I blame it on poor writing though. It is obvious that they are stretching as much as possible because they can't come up with better ideas.
