Title Miss in Kiss
Okay so I've watched the first four episodes now and I have to admit this new Taiwanese version is horrible - they've basically copied the KOREAN version down to the last detail, so of course 'Irie-kun' comes across as a total and utter DIPSTICK with NO redeeming features; you get the feeling he genuinely LOATHES this version of 'Kotoko', so how they're now going to promote a romance between them later beats me. I mean he really HATES her.

They've got a VERY handsome second lead (called Ah-jin in this version too, which was nice) he COULD'VE (and, to me at least, SHOULD'VE) been the lead; he has the looks to be haughty and cool - the actual male lead just looks and sounds completely BORED (no matter what the scene). Sadly, as with the Korean one, the second lead is (so far) just the 'comic relief'. The ONLY one who is ANY good in this is the actor playing the Second Lead 'Ah Jin'. HE deserves a medal and an Asian Oscar for just ENDURING this hell; let alone for his acting abilities.

NONE of the friendships feel believable; not between the dads or the schoolgirls; the fatherly love for is daughter is also lacking and the nutjob mother is also less nice and more than a LOT creepy given her reasons for wanting the usual marriage.

The father is NOT even a chef, so make Ah Jin wanting to be one UTTERLY pointless. It's like the writers are so angry at fans for only wanting a third series with the original Taiwanese cast, that they weren't satisfied with just following a bad version (which actually looks GOOD now in comparison to this MESS), but they wanted to RIP out ALL that made the show so cute and lovable so they could them flip we the fans the middle digit.

But the worst of it is that, whilst with the other versions, the 'Irie-kun's' have some reason of sorts to be the way they are with their female lead, this version chooses to follow the Korean version where he just hates, belittles and bullies her because he wants to and finds it fun - but there's a maliciousness to it, that wasn't even there in the Korean version, which stumps me if they're trying to promote a 'romance'.

The little brother in this one is slightly older than the other versions (he's already in grade 3) and is portrayed as very bright too - the only thing is he still ACTS like the other version who were in grade 2 and below (dependent on age) by sticking his tongue out and pulling faces; so he just comes across as emotionally retarded (like his brother) for no real reason. Oh but there is a little twist in this version as to why 'Irie-kun's' mother wants them to marry - and you will NEVER guess it in a month of Sundays; I couldn't have in a century of them! LOL!

I was so, SO disappointed of ALL the versions the reboot could've followed - not least their OWN country's which was one of the best adaptations, if not THE best - they chose the very WORST one. :(

I'm going to persevere with it until the end (18 episodes finishing at the end of Jan 2017), but I really don't think we fans of the original Tainwan series have a lot to be worried about - nor do any fans of the other versions....

I even think the Korean one MIGHT be losing it's 'The Worst Adaptation of ALL' title because the male lead in this just seems so BORED and completely APATHETIC in every scene. It's almost as if he thinks this drama has been done so many times, so why bother to 'act'- just turn up, say the lines and leave..... if he's asked to 'give emotion' - he just bombs out some serious HATE to the female lead and them goes back to 'bored'. .Give me the other versions (especially Taiwan, Thai and Japanese (in that order) any time.)

I am now going back to Netflix to watch the Japanese version again to soothe my sore heart. T-T <<-- these are black and bitter tears of my sour disappointment......

It's currently on dramacool, but UNsubbed......does anyone know of a subbed version? EDIT: Just logged on…
I actually tried because I KNOW how many people want to see it too. But Netflix won't let me......no matter what I do. However, for those in the UK who can access Netflix, it's at least an option. I will keep looking to see if available subbed elsewhere for the non UK dwellers though. Sorry, I couldn't dl it though, I really tried. :(

EDIT:- I found a link on youtube - you have to sign up, but it APPEARS to be working and in HD. I can't tell if subbed though.......good luck. I'll keep looking, though......

Anyone know what's happened to KissAsian - it went down for two or three days and now it's vanished…
Agreed - Kissmanga is definitely working, but no one's sure if the kissanime that's around (and looking spookily like the usual one) is genuine or a fake. I joined it, but you can't really navigate it very well....I'd advise avoiding it for now.

I jst started this. I'm watching for danson tang cuz I'm obsess w him these days. I kinda went to watch the ending…
Yup me too - as soon as I realised what was happening I abandoned it. For me he was the main lead; the story was about him and the woman he loved, so when he died I was literally retrieving my jaw from the floor and reaching for the tissues...... T-T

A friend's just PM'd me saying there's been an update by KA's admins on their Facebook page (about an hour or so ago) saying "There is problem with KissAsian, we are working to fix this problem and the site will online soon. Sorry for the inconvenience!"

So perhaps the best site ever is only temporarily down and will be back - I wouldn't mind betting they got hacked; it's happening a lot lately and to VERY sophisticated IT, Banking, etc sites (like Sony, Barclays, etc) let alone just an average (though HIGHLY popular and much loved) tv drama hosting sites.

It's got a long way to go to be as annohing as the Korean version. However, it also has BIG shoes to fill trying to better it's predecessor......I sincerely doubt it will do it.

Thanks Valerie - it's a great site and, because it's looking increasingly like KA is NOT returning we need to be able to access our dramas elsewhere. THANK YOU again. :)

Anyone know what's happened to KissAsian - it went down for two or three days and now it's vanished completely..... :$ It also looks like MyAsianTv is going the same way - now difficult to load certain dramas and no playback works - this is how KissAsian started and now it's completely MIA......VERY worried here because without KissAsian especially and now MAT too there's pretty much NO way for we Brits/US/etc to get to watch our beloved Asian dramas....T-T

Here's the link to the best sound version on youtube -

No I know what you mean- but I love ALL Asian dramas. <3 :) Oh likewise I think BOTH dramas are just beyond brilliant. Like you I had never heard of Hoshino Gen before this drama, but the ending theme was just great (and the dance; which I've learnt by the way - my excuse is it's my daily arthritis exercise to keep me mobile!! XD) I also ADORED the song at the end of episode 2 of Goblin (I even know the name now!) Both dramas = AWESOME. :D

Well, admittedly it does have Gong Yoo AND Lee Dong Wook in it - I mean it'd struggle to fail with them really. lol!

@ Dani -- really sad Goblin won't be included for this year's nominations on the Korean page, but will definitely be nominating next year if it carries on the way it's going. Two episodes in and I'm hooked! :D
