Truly a profound movie that is definitely worth watching. A little slow at moments, but Choi Woo Shik makes up for it. He was fascinating to watch and seriously did this film justice. Awesome actor!

the drama had a great start, but it's middle and ending were mediocre at best. the writers could have done so much better. i agree with you -- if not for sjs and sma's incredible chemistry...i would have dropped it midway. instead i just fast forwarded -- alot.

i rarely watch dramas over 20 episodes--but i'm so grateful for having watched this one. i laughed, cried, rejoiced....i will truly miss this gem of a drama and the talented cast of actors.

The necklace was a birthday present from Takashi during their second year in high school. They show him giving it to her near the end of the movie when he's watching the video files of her. In those files, everyone still remembered her----and especially in the okonomiyaki cooking scene, you can clearly see she's not wearing the necklace.

I think the necklace is used in the movie to show symbolism and serve as a catalyst. It's something given to Azusa by a person she loves, which then potentially triggers feelings of insecurity about herself and her future. This in turn causes her to subconsciously want to disappear --- manifesting itself in reality. Of course, this is just mere conjecture on my part. The reason she was being forgotten could have been completely arbitrary....but that would seem so pointless.

taking sleeping pills is pretty normal for TK, as he has an unusual sleeping schedule. i don't believe he overdoses, but he did seem to take a large amount of pills. he asks his coach that he not be disturbed, because he was going to sleep the entire next day. the writer's have already stated that no one dies in this series. taek is safe. it's his heart being broken that we should be worried about.

part of the issue with reply 88 is that it hasn't finished airing yet...so it's a given it would be underrated in the polls. viewers can't realistically judge something when they don't know if the writers will mess up the last 5-6 episodes (we've all seen this happen too many times before) or if it will continue to produce fantastic episodes until the very end. maybe the poll should have left it out and had it judged next year or held the voting in january, when all of the dramas being voted on were complete. that would have been more fair.

agree. while i really loved healer, i was kind of disappointed to see it lumped into a blanket action/thriller/suspense category along with dramas like i remember you, missing noir m and village---which i feel had much more in common as they were psychological/crime themed in nature. it's kind of like comparing apples with oranges.

i enjoyed kmhm, but it wasn't a favorite. 2015 gave us some pretty fantastic dramas that I think were just as strong in the same categories. I guess i'm just a little disappointed to not see them do better. These polls are certainly fun to take (thank you MDL organizers for creating!), but are understandably limited in that they can only reflect the popular opinion of viewers. And I don't want to sound mean, but it seems that sometimes those votes are biased in that the viewer may have only seen a few of the more popular dramas and will pick them for everything because they have nothing else to compare them to.

The story is cliche, but still loads of fun to watch. And it's always a joy to see Doo Joon and Seul Gi on screen.

The writers probably had to make JH's character development more passive when compared to TK's steady growth, so that TK's character could play catch up to JH. If we hadn't seen TK's character go through unforseen progress, he wouldn't have been a believable love interest for DS. Now I think alot of viewers, regardless of what team they are on, would be okay with whomever DS picks---because as the series has shown, both JH and TK, while not perfect, are equally great guys and really care for DS in their own ways.

And I couldn't agree more about the families. I really think they're fantastic. I wonder if DS's family will move now that they are debt free?

The JH/DS/TK love triangle progress may seem slower than molasses at times, but I appreciate the time the writers have taken to set up and lay down their character foundations before anyone unveils their feelings for each other. It helps the viewers understand why each character is great, but it also helps us see their flaws.

With DS we’ve seen that while she isn’t book-smart, she is street smart and protective. And after the episode with the epilepsy, it appears she truly has an aptitude for taking care of people that even her teacher recognizes. Maybe she’ll become a nurse or a personal manager/assistant in the future?

With JH’s character, we see that despite his gruff demeanor, it’s all about loyalty and the hidden gestures. The way he writes his parent’s names in hangul on their passports and the way he tucks TK into bed even knowing he is his rival. It’s these little things he does throughout the drama that have solidified his position as an outright GOOD guy.

I have to say the writers have done a remarkable job at continually surprising us with a different facet of TK’s personality with every episode. We've steadily seem him progress from a quiet boy genius who is seemingly useless outside of his baduk world, to a multi-layered character who has a stressful demanding profession, yet still manages to preserve his youthful innocence when around his friends and family. I especially enjoy his interactions with DS because they have such a natural comraderie and affection for each other, even if it's only sisterly from DS's end at this point.

I'm looking forward to seeing where our triangle and our neighborhood will take us in episodes 15/16!

This drama gets better with each episode. But that's just my opinion. Personally, I think 88 has surpassed it's predecessors, but it hasn't finished airing yet -- so the writers still have the opportunity to mess up the ending. lol. DS and Bora mellow out. What I love is how each episode develops and showcases the deep comraderie and heartfelt relationships between the folks living on that block. Makes me very nostalgic. I find the humor pretty amusing. But it may not be up everyone's alley. Give it a few more episodes or just watch it in a few months when you're in a better mood for it. That's what I typically do when I'm not loving a drama that's airing, but everyone else seems to be.

I understand what you're saying. If anyone else but So Ji Sub were saying it, I would be pretty annoyed. But SJS makes something that would normally sound creepy coming from some other person, sound sexy as hell....making me mindlessly nod my head in agreement every time he utters it. So he (and his character, Yeong Ho) get a pass. Anyone else? Not so much...unless you're in my top 20 favorite actors list. lol.

Ugh..the Reply writers really don't like to play fair...lol. Both Taek and JH are tugging at our heartstrings like nobody's business. But seriously, everytime Taek smiles at DS, he positively glows, making my heart melt just a little more. I can't fight it anymore...I've willingly boarding the Taektanic.

Very violent with an overall somber undertone, but a really great movie. Recommended.

omg...just realized that! what a complete 360!

i dislike dropping dramas too, so i often spend half my time fast forwarding through filler scenes if it starts getting bogged down with too much needless bs. And if i'm marathoning a drama that begins to become too much of a clichefest -- usually right around episode 10/11 -- i'll just skip to the last episode and call it a day.
