this is my honest review.
first of all, I would like to sum up my review with few lines:
nice concept,
good pacing,
awesome execution, and
perfect cast.
i love Lim Ji Yeon! Ms Ji Yeon and Rain hit their acting at full gear.
there was this episode that was really emotional to the bones, and they really hit it off!
I recommend you all to watch this please.
the story itself is interesting enough!
pacing is good too, though not perfect, but almost perfect! i would say errors are just minor details along the plot.
the soundtrack is ok, not that it will get stuck in you, but it fits the series just fine.
again, the acting of the two leads are great! not stiff and the chemistry are good. as good as from weightlifting fairy! i really love Lim Ji Yeon. she won awards and she deserve it. and I can sense an aura that she is a bubbly and kind person seeing her social media profile and her episodes in Law of the Jungle and Running man. go check her out.
i need to write atleast 500 words so I will leave you with a sentence that you should remember.
go and watch welcome 2 life, you wont regret it. again, go and watch it please, i beg you, lol.

Fantasy drama done right

Bulgasal honestly has such a great, AND ORIGINAL, story that will hook you in instantly! If anyone has watched Inuyasha before, it kind of gave off that feeling at times (if you know you know). The genre is a perfect blend of supernatural, mystery and romance. It’s not romance heavy if that’s what you’re looking for, but it’s really wholesome in so many aspects! The acting is really great from the whole cast, they will have you emotional throughout the whole thing. The OST is just sooooo beautiful like I can’t praise it enough. They played the right songs for the right moments and it made the scenes so much more meaningful. The only reason the plot isn’t getting a perfect 10 is for the loose end they left about what transpired 600 years prior. They did a good job with not leaving you completely confused in the end, but there were still some things that needed explaining or clarifying regarding the drama that transpired 600 years ago. I had so many theories so it’s a little frustrating that some things weren’t super clear in that aspect. Overall though, I really can’t stress enough how great this show is and highly recommend giving it a try!

Definitely a great action packed movie! The story line is pretty easy to follow in my opinion and there is comedy relief from time to time. Wish the director was more elaborate on some parts. There are moments where the movie seems rushed because the scenes/settings/plot line jumps pretty quickly. It's an hour and 58 minute movie with a really complicated story line so I'll let the director go for rushing most parts.
The director chose a great group of actors because the acting is spectacular. Watched this because of Crystal Liu (Liu Yi Fei) and Deng Chao. I felt like I was watching another Detective Dee and the Mystery of the Phantom Flame kind of movie, but it wasn't. There were all these special effects and it really made me go wow. It's not the kind of cg effects that seems over-exaggerated, don't misunderstand. Whenever they were used, it wasn't excessive. Wu Qing's(Crystal)character is entirely based off of telekinesis and there were too few scenes in this movie reflecting that, which I found regrettable! It was really cool seeing Crystal acting out this role, because I didn't like her in Chinese Paladin that much. She definitely showed superb acting skills. Ronald Cheng as Zhui Ming provided comedy relief since he's the easy going guy. Always loved him in HK movies and dramas. There wasn't much emphasis on Tie Shou, which was a pity since he seemed like a pretty cool character to act out. Then there's Deng Chao as Leng Xue which I found slightly disappointing because I didn't really see much acting coming from him. There were scenes with him but not enough character development. This whole movie, I kind of focused more on Wu Qing.
Anyways, I would definitely recommend this movie. Action packed, slight romance, and comedy, what else can I ask for? It can go from an all serious moment to an entirely funny scene. The cinematography and music really added an extra bonus to the entire thing. This one hour and 58 minute movie is definitely worth the time, would re-watch soon. Currently expecting the sequel with the same cast, The Four 2.

As I always say, you need a little bit of cliché once in a while. A very straightforward and simple storyline. There were no heartbreaks or major breakups. I think the relationships between all 3 couples was very realistic.
The female lead was honestly so funny. One thing I really liked about this drama was the fact that the female lead's life was simple. She wasn't looking to work like normal people. She was happy with the things she was doing. She didn't chase after more.
The male lead was a little typical but I still liked him. There was a perfect balance between the two of them. I was also glad that his family didn't disapprove of Zheng Li. Nothing like evil in-laws. Phewww!
The friendship between the three girls was also a great element. They never fell out with each other.
Anyways, I recommend this drama for anyone who's looking for a steady and simple storyline.

Better than the Original

I very much I enjoyed the sequel more than I did the original. As much as I'm against sequels, this one was a definite need for 2gether. Even with the short five episodes, I was still captured by the story, swooning for ManType, and not wanting to punch Sarwat and Tine in the face.

Let's Dive In.

The plot for this was pretty simplistic, and not very busy, but honestly, it's what was needed for this series. The series before felt too complicated, and like it wasn't fleshed out like they had wanted it to be. With four couples, it can be difficult to fit in all of their stories without it feeling rushed or poorly developed. While we got plenty of SarawatTine and MilPhukong, I still wanted more ManType and WAY more DimGreen.

ManType was the only reason I was even interested in this sequel, and why I even enjoyed 2gether as much as I did. I won't avoid that this couple did have their problems, (Man being a big fat stalker), but I can't help but love them. This time around, they were the best thing to happen. We got to see them domestically, and I loved it so much. All their scene felt natural, and Man throwing a party for Type had to be one of my favorites, but my absolute favorite had to be their kiss on the beach. That entire scene was so funny and precious. Toptap and Mike do such an incredible job at making this show so lively and fun.

Mil and Phukong's story was better balanced and we finally got to see them get together. Even though it felt criminally slow and boring, it did finally wrap their story in a little bow and gave it a proper ending. I still feel like we missed a lot for this couple, and as much as I love Frank and Drake, their story felt unnecessary for the plot. They were one of the couples that definitely didn't need to play out. Thank you GMMTV for still going us NOTHING when it comes to Dew and Green. They barely had any screen time, and when they did, it was mostly them being upset at one another. I would love to see these two in another series, possibly one of their own.

I wasn't too big of a fan of Sarwat and Tine in the first series, but I really liked them in this one. It felt different, it finally felt like Bright and Win were able to find their connection right off the bat, I have to give Win a huge round of applause for his acting. He was by far my favorite actor in this series. He has seriously grown from the first series, and the best thing for me is to see how much an actor has grown.

Overall, this sequel was cute. This sequel was a definite need for the fans and a definite need for each couple's story. It's fun and pretty unproblematic, so I would for sure recommend a watch.

Heartwarming story

When I came across this, I didn’t realise it would be such a heart warming down to earth story!
The characters are well developed, full of flaws that you will find in a regular person around you, and how they struggle to fix their lives with the help of their one neighbour who might stick in his neck in other people’s problems try to help them, even though he really can’t do much. That makes this drama perfect. The solutions they come across are not over the edge perfect solutions but what’s best in the capability of that person. Every situation reached the perfect ending anyone could hope for without feeling bad for anyone.

It shows the real and genuine human emotions. But each episode is very motivating and inspiring on its own way.
It is a much watch for sure. You would expect the make lead to be cool and hot because it’s Matsumoto Jun, but he is a regular dad with flaws but heart of gold. This makes the whole story believable.

If you want something good to watch then this is a definitely recommended drama!

I honestly was excited for this, but I was very disappointed. The plot was very interesting, but it was quite cliche. The FL only used the MLs for her benefit and was self centered, indecisive and selfish. The cast had no chemistry what so ever, it could have been better! Don't even talk about the MLs mom, so careless and selfish! But the actress did great to portray her character!
The music itself is very nice, also the plot.
The lakorn is definitely not something I will rewatch, there's too many unnecessary scenes!
Overall, it's something you should watch if you really like the cast (I watched cuz of Pon lol) or if you are really interested.
Not too bad but could do MUCH better!

Calm and soothing cinematic kdrama

The cinematography is really one of the best ever produced for a kdrama, even a simple scene is shot beautifully with amazing perspectives and delicate touches. The storyline setting is also quite refreshing, the buildup it has is insane right from the start till the end, the pacing could be a little on the slower side but still totally serviceable due to its artistic choices of the drama. The acting performance though is just unbelievable, the chemistry between Kim Young Kwang and Lee Sung Kyung is over the roof, their gaze is magnificent and perfect for the roles. For those who want to get into a calm and soothing cinematic kdrama, this will be the best of this year.

I don't usually watch any dramas other than K-dramas, but the trailer for Dr. Cutie was very enticing! I enjoyed the drama, but it definitely isn't perfect. This drama is EXTRA CHEESY and the acting is really not good at all. The silly moments are overly exaggerated (goes beyond slapstick comedy), the crying/tragic(ish) scenes aren't convincing - the facial expressions associated with strong emotions were not expressed authentically by the actors. In this sense, Dr. Cutie felt truly inferior to K-dramas.

So why did I continue watching Dr. Cutie when the acting was so lacking? Because in all honesty, I found the plot intriguing, the pacing excellent, the OST enjoyable and well-fitting, and the overall drama to NOT be bloody or violent (which is not a common quality of historicals).

I also found that even though the facial expressions were forced and the overall acting needs sincere improvement, the writers did a good job developing and portraying the development of romantic relations between Commander Ji Heng and Tian Qi. Their relationship was not rushed and the overall change in Commander Ji Heng was well paced.

What I didn't like in regards to the romance was how Commander Ji Heng's brother, Ji Zheng was shoved into their romance to create a love-triangle. I was initially okay with it when Ji Zheng bowed out of the triangle, but then he discovered that tragic secret and decided he too was going to seek out revenge. I don't like being yo-yoed back and forth with plots like this...I actually really appreciated that the brothers had such a close relationship and that he was initially graceful in recognizing and sincerely wanting his brother and Tian Qi to be happy. By forcing the love-triangle a second time in the plot, it ruined his character for me and added an unnecessary squabble which could have been used to deepen the larger villain plot.

Which brings me to my next point - the mountain village villain felt really flimsy. The mountain village survivors had been playing a role through the entire drama, which I thought was great, because it would lead to what I anticipated to be a well though-out overarching villain plot. But by the end, we didn't really get anything specific about what went down at the mountain village to help viewers understand the deep ploy for revenge by their survivors. The time used to shove the love-triangle into the story a second time should have been replaced with these details in my opinion.

While I was dissatisfied with the above criticisms, I really appreciated how Commander Ji Heng's mother was written to be remorseful and NOT inherently evil - she even apologized in the end! She wasn't constantly scheming for her own purposes and she genuinely loved her sons and recognized when her desires could ultimately make her sons unhappy and stepped back to allow them to handle it themselves. This really sat well with me. This is so uncommon to see in any drama that it was refreshing!

In the end, I'm overall disappointed with the ending due to how it was executed. I didn't like how Tian Qi stabbed Commander Ji Heng (which was around the same time Ji Zheng's character also started to deteriorate for me). While she thought she was exacting her revenge with Ji Heng admitting to being responsible for her childhood tragedy, once the truth is revealed in the very end, she doesn't admit to her mistake and betrayal. So in the end, where Ji Heng is essentially trying to win back her affections to make their happily-ever-after, I personally feel like in the least, Tian Qi should have been trying to win him back too. Yes, I know he felt responsible and felt like he deserved Tian Qi's revenge, but at the end of the day, her love was not unconditional for him the way his was for her (you know, for example, when he discovered she was a girl and should have had her reported and executed and didn't).

But again, what kept me watching this drama even though I found the ending execution of plot particularly flawed, was the excellent pacing (even the ending epilogue was not rushed!), the great build up in tension between Tian Qi and Ji Heng, and the overall message that revenge is not something that is necessarily clean-cut as we would like.

I would likely not rewatch this drama, particularly because the acting is so incredibly cheesy compared to having so many other better quality dramas available to steal my attention. But I don't think it was overall bad either. There were definitely moments that had my chest tight with anxiety/sadness for the characters and there were some seriously beautiful fangirl-worthy moments (thank you Huang Jun Jie for being so handsome, especially in costume!).

My best advice if you are trying to decide to watch this: if you like relatively casual historical dramas that include cross-dressing heroines, love-triangles, and aren't too tragic/violent, this will fit the bill, even if not the best acting quality!

The sound of madness

A Page of Madness blurred the lines between sanity and insanity, fantasy and reality and wrapped it all up in a surreal box with a demented bow. A silent movie from 1926 with no intertitles, it could make trying to comprehend the mad hatter's box of discord challenging, yet with stellar performances and an absorbing experimental vibe it is worth making the effort.

Director Kawabata was short on money but long on imagination. With the help of the actors who painted sets, took pay cuts, and slept on the floor he was able to finish the film. Due to only having 8 lights to work with, the walls were painted silver to reflect as much light as possible, which also gave the film an otherworldly appearance. Thought lost for nearly 50 years, Kawabata found a copy in 1971. He set new music to it and re-released it. The film is now shorter than the original. While I don't know what scenes are missing, the story seemed fairly complete. There has been debate whether originally a narrator guided the story for the audience or not. I have to admit I would have liked more clarity with the conversations between the father and daughter.

It does help to understand the framing for the story. A retired sailor is working at an asylum as a janitor because his wife is a patient there. When he was away, their child drown, sending his wife's mind down a slippery slope until she was sent to the asylum. It's unclear whether he stays close by due to a sense of loyalty, love, or guilt. Their surviving daughter is engaged to be married and comes to visit her mother. Afterwards the janitor determines to break his wife out of the facility. Whether the reason is he fears his daughter's in-laws would object to the marriage if they found out her mother had been committed or because he can't bear to see his wife behind bars is not spelled out.

The film begins with an elegant dancer on an elaborate stage with a giant spinning ball behind her. Momentarily we discover the stage and costume are all in her mind as she swirls faster and faster to the rhythms of a torrential rainstorm. Kawabata used nearly every camera trick available to him to display the chaotic spirit of the patients' troubled minds. Overlays, sped up frames, side-by-side, upside down shots, elongated faces, and twirling fades, nothing was left out of his bag of tricks. The actors took over where the director left off as they laid bare a wide range of disturbed emotions---vacant stares, mumbling, hysterical laughter, frenzied behavior, and angry outbursts. The combination of film skills and acting made for a fantastical experience as current behavior, memories, hallucinations, self-deception, dreams, and fantasies cut back and forth, eventually blurring the lines between time, reason and madness.

The janitor who was our guide began to show his own mental cracks leaving you wondering if he was real or one of the ghostly figures in the hall and garden. Or was his sanity slowly giving way to madness as well? The inmates appeared to share their delusions on occasion, begging the question…what is real? The patients seemed to see the dancer in her elaborate costume as she entertained them. The object of one of the janitor's violent fantasies bowed to him at the end of the movie as if he was indeed the man's son-in-law just as in the delusion. Objective and subjective views of reality crashed into each other and became inexorably tangled with each passing minute.

Watching the film, I had to wonder about mental institutions at the beginning of the 20th century. How much did isolation, boredom, low expectations, and no real therapy magnify the problems patients were experiencing? Human interactions were kept to a minimum. History shows that many people ended up institutionalized for being different or suffering from depression, postpartum issues, or in the case of women-being difficult.

Circles and round objects were utilized visually several times-the giant spinning ball in the dance sequence, the wife's focal point button, spinning tires, and spinning film frames. Like the twirling circles, sanity and insanity rapidly rotated until illusion and reality overlapped for the fragile yet resilient human psyche and spirit. When the wife refused to leave the security of her barred home, she showed that the mind can be a far more powerful prison than a physical cage.

Like the story itself, I found the film fascinating and infuriating, deceptively simple yet enigmatic. Built around strong performances and creative storytelling, Kawabata's strange experiment succeeded for me.

5/1/23

I’m going to readily admit that I only watched this one because of Jang Geun Suk. I absolutely loved him in ‘You’re Beautiful’. From the description I wasn’t expecting much in the way of anything with this movie. However, I was pleasantly surprised. It was a fun and fresh adventure that was honestly a truly good time. Jang Geun Suk is left with a baby that is supposedly his. To complicate matters his parents have left him on his own because he’s a right stinker in school and life. Thus he has to raise the baby alone, except there is a quirky girl who attaches herself to Jang Geun Suk’s character and consequently helps him in taking care of the baby.

The entire movie was sweet and eccentric with a cute flair. Since my expectations were low it exceeded them easily. Though, that does not mean this movie was anything more than a fun romp that was mostly brain candy. So my absolute favorite part about the movie was the voice over work for the baby, seriously the crotchety old man voice was so hilarious I laughed through the whole show. For a quick and painless watch then this is your movie!

I don't know if it's just the mood that I'm in, but it was a struggle to finish this drama.

The synopsis is usually my type of shit, I love me some good tropey cheese, and I actually liked the first half. But then as the story kept going on, I started liking the characters less and less. Everything they did started to annoy me. The pace was so slow, and as the drama went on I realized that the plot was disappearing. They were just existing in their melodrama without the story actually progressing and the characters developing and it got tiring to watch. I ended up just skimming the dialogue of the last five episodes because I just wanted it to be over with. The only character I liked until the end was the mom, I just stopped caring about the rest.

Since I liked the first half and hated the second, I decided to meet in the middle and rate it a five. Otherwise, I have no idea what to rate this mess.

I'M IN LOVE!<33

Where should I start? I completely fell for this BL. Like really...one of the best i've seen so far!

STORY: I really like not so complicated, mature BLs and if the story is some kind of office love? It's the best! Yes, it's not really something original but the "anti-aging" activities the main characters did together were really nice and I don't think I've ever seen that before. It was sweet but it also has a meaning. Even if you're not in your teens and you have plenty of work, you still can enjoy time and even if u're a man in his 40s, you still can enjoy funny and sweet talks in cafe with your bestie :>
Also love how it wasn't toxic at all :)

ACTING: They all did such a good job! I liked every character and I liked the way they all played their roles. I don't have anything more to say because i really liked it.

MUSIC: Nice :) It never felt like it didn't suit the moment.

REWATCH VALUE: I will definitely rewatch it sooner or later. There's no way I wouldn't rewatch it!

OVERALL: Love it ( as you propably already noticed lmao )! It's not toxic, nice story, good acting,...Really if you need something fresh, not toxic with ( spoiler? ) good ending, watch this. Also you can binge watch it so even if you don't like it, it won't consume much of your time. That's propably one minus, it's short. Yes again, idk what would happen if it was longer but i definitely wish to see more of the couple :) It could have been at least 1 episode longer to be honest, but I'm not mad.
Definitely adding on my list of favourite BLs <3

That's all, have a good day and don't worry about things. Everything will be alright even if it may look like it will never get better. It will, healing takes time :) stay strong, love you <33 feel free to share your opinions or anything here in comments :)

Amazing acting, big production, unlike any K-drama

7/24/2021

What an amazing end to Season 1. The long journey of waiting for Season 2 has begun. It took me a while to finish Part 3 as it's not a binge-watching kinda show. Each episode feels like its own movie.

I am in awe of everyone's acting. From the youngest children to the most senior and veteran actors, each one of them portrays their characters so well. You believe in each of their emotions and you laugh and cry with them. The four main leads are without a doubt worthy of their praises. And I agree with many that it's Song Joong Ki's best role playing both Eunseom and Saya. They are such different characters yet SJL did such an amazing job, all that the small facial expressions and mannerisms. However, I am most impressed with Kim Ok Bin, who played Taealha. This is my first time watching her. I am in love with her character. She has such a presence on the screen that I can't take my eyes off her whenever she's there. The chemistry between Tagon and Taealha is off-the-charts. Each character is so layered and gray. You understand why they make certain decisions because of their background story, and you can't help but feel for them, even though you don't agree with their decisions.

We see equal parts of Saya and Eunseom in Part 3. I am glad because I miss Eunseom in Part 2. We saw the rise of Tagon as King, Tanya as High Priestess and Eunseom as Tribal leader. There's plenty of fighting and bloodshed in Part 2 and they are all essential to the major plot. The pacing of Part 3 is faster than Part 1, but they are still somewhat slow compared to other dramas. There are so many smaller plots that have to come together for the main storyline. If one doesn't pay attention, you might miss out on something.

I wasn't aware that there are Seasons 2 and 3. If I had known, I might not have started watching this show. I waited until all 3 parts are out before I watch Season 1. Now the long wait begins. I am not sure when the cast would be able to line up their schedules and start shooting Season 2 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. With so many people involved in this big production, it might be a long while before the audience can see Eunseom and Tanya reunite. I am looking forward to that. As much as I love Saya, I ship Euseom and Tanya more :)

Same score as the series

Not gonna lie. It was not what I was expecting. However, I still enjoyed it.

I gave it the same score as I did the series. I actually liked the background story a bit more, so I gave that an 8.

The acting/cast and music was the same score (8 and 10 respectively).

However, while the storyline for me was a bit better than the series, I'm not that eager to watch it again, cause I now know what happened and once is enough for me. Thus I gave that a 6.

My overall score was thus an 8, just like the series.
