Royal Feast is a good drama

After watching this drama for a while, I must admit it is a good drama. I didn't like it that much in the beginning but continued watching it because of Xu Kai. Over time as I watched more and more, I got the theme of the drama and I started really liking it. This drama gets better and better. In the middle it was kind of frustrating on the interaction between the leads; but after episode 32 or so, things smoothed up. I think it's because the drama is supposed to follow a history line and one must have some background on what went on behind the characters or real people portrayed by the FL and ML. Now, it does requires a good understanding of Chinese, I felt it uses a very highly complicated language in the beginning of the drama. I think not having a good translation may have had added the frustration of some audiences. On my own, I'll give it a 9.9 :D

Many plot twists.

Like this is one of the best drama's I've seen but I wouldn't say that it meets up to my expectations. it is pretty good and as a person who hates sad endings I would recommend you guys to watch this. but I wouldn't say that this is a highly recommended drama. it is kinda hard to explain but no hate. it is 😬. yeah. but I would say I like the acting and the song in this. the story is good but I would suggest that if some changes would have been there, I would love it. this is just a viewer's opinion. it is quite funny like when Lee dong wook shii and gong yoo shii being funny and it feels like if they're in love. I actually like it but not love it. just my opinion. no hate. this drama is actually pretty good but I wouldn't recommend it for newbies to kdrama.

~no hate. a goblin lover

The synopsis is misleading!

This isn't a rich people struggle drama. In fact, the male lead is an orphan homeless man who works multiple jobs to support his younger brother and repay his dead parents loan shark debt. While he was studying abroad, his parents were scammed by a large company that introduced a new financial scheme. They ended up borrowing money from loan shark and committed suicide when they can't pay them back. ML came back to china to take care of his brother, while on the run from the loan shark. He then joins the company that now focus on big data tech but its also the same company that scammed his parents back then, and started plotting his revenge.

FL came from a privileged background but not really a super rich person like the synopsis made it to be. Her dad is a professor and her mother is a piano teacher. She studied in America, came back to china the same time as ML and sorta fell in love from the first sight when they're at the airport.

The second male lead is your typical ceo's son. His story is full of cliches. He likes the FL but knows he has no chance to be with her. So there's no evil third party in this relationship.
-
Now onto the review.. Like any other 40 episodes drama, there were so much going on. So many side characters and side stories, on top of being a majorly work/business focused drama. I skipped through parts I'm not interested in, and by episode 25+ I don't even know what's going on whenever they're in work mode. At ep 30+ I thought the story is getting better but the writers then ruined it again few episodes before the finale (I'm already tired of this drama by then and only played it for background noise).

Out of the business/work setting, what made the drama watchable for me is their little friends crew, the ML story development, and the FL fun character.

I will give the story a solid 8.5 if its only based on the ML background story, his revenge plan, and the final twist revelation. Those are truly high quality writing that's sadly ruined by a lot of filler scenes.

In the romance department: the main couple liked each other since early on, the girl's parents acknowledged them as a couple, their friends all called them a couple but they aren't actually together. The ML has some issues to resolve so he can't commit to a relationship. They only somewhat got together on the last scene of the final episode, and it's just the ML giving her a rose. No kisses or I love yous being said.

tldr: it's worth watching if you're interested in tech data business drama, or if you're a fan of the actors (I'm watching for lulu xu, she's the main reason I didn't drop this). Don't watch if you're expecting some romance.

This drama is awesome, I tell you, it's awesome! Fortunately, I found this drama when I was going through a huge drama slump and I didn't know what to watch. Watching this drama made me smile and laugh a LOT. I mean while I was watching the drama, I got so absorbed in the love affairs like Tenchou was! Additionally, the writers who wrote this drama which aired in 2003, has written one of the best comical scripts that I've seen in Jdramas. Everything was so intricately planned and so detailed. I've never come across a story like this before.

Let's not forget about the actors in the show. Tenchou who barely speaks in this drama was so hilarious! His narrations and his thoughts were so entertaining to listen to. The other characters like Nobuko and Chikura Sensei were really funny also. My favorite lines were "Waaaafffers!" and "I say this from my experience, my life, and my soul."

RELEASE THE SOLJIWAN CUT

The first half of this drama was actually really promising — I liked the idea of an unconventional relationship, of a drama that actually discusses toxicity, a lesbian slow burn, etc. Not to mention how beautiful the cinematography was. The second half of this drama, however, seems rushed and full of typical cliches, but without any of the build-up. There was a typical love triangle with a really annoying and irrelevant second lead, and there was a side couple that was even more irrelevant.

Still though, there were some side couples that were great and I wish the drama dedicated more time to them.

But I just gotta say that Soljiwan carried this show. HARD. They were the perfect longtime friends-to-lovers and the yearning and just healthiness of the relationship was so beautiful. I wish so much that the drama had been braver with showing their scenes and had just dedicated more time to them because they were the best part of the drama hands down, and all the stars of my rating is for them.

Blue Lightning?

I really love military dramas and this is one of the best. I admire the acting of Blue Lightning members. Even though they have different personalities and views. The captain manage to do many strategies to be comrade-in-arms. I really love their determination and on how they cheer up each other to be better and strong armies. It really touch me, there are many scenes that I really cried. You won't feel bored when you watch it. I hope there will be Season 2 for the love story of Ning Meng and Gin Quan😉

Salute to all casts, writers and director👮
Very recommended Chinese Drama

It's really hard for me to try and not write 10 paragraphs about this show. There's something about Yiyi - pretty but forgettable, smart but unexceptional, endearing but flawed Yiyi - that makes her so easy to relate to, to root for. Not just Yiyi, but every character in the show feels so organic, so real. They all have their worries, dreams, ambitions and selfishness. There's no grand sweeping gestures or all powerful movers - and that's ok, since Yiyi is not weak at all.

This is not a drama with big misunderstandings or big build-ups. It's mostly mundane things like workplace woes, or petty fights between friends. But it's through these mundane things that the show can help you learn how to handle relationship between coworkers, friends and lovers. As Yiyi was learning how to navigate through her life, I was learning alongside with her.

There's a type of food called comfort food, easy to digest and never lets you down. To me, Go Yiyi Go is like a comfort food perfect for a rainy day.

Surprisingly good on rewatch

When watching Thai Lakorn (if it’s not BL), people must realise it’s made for domestic audience, just like Indian over the top serials, Korean Makjang and Pakistani dramas. As such these programs will infuse a lot of local traditional beliefs, local biases. They could be more conservative for people or could be very non relatable for people. But International audience must realise that not everything is made for their consumption unlike big budget Korean dramas.
My advice to drama writers and directors, try viewing in your drama in a serialised way just like how viewers watch it. Things which make sense if you binge watch it versus when you drip feed is very different. I have been binge watching now and it’s a much more enjoyable experience. If you don’t want to do what Netflix does which is release them all at once, you need to find a way to make each week interesting and not lump all story conclusions at the end. It puts people off.
When i rewatched this drama, so many things make sense. The sheer emptiness the female lead feels which is why she passively went along. The negativity shown shown by the mom towards the adopted child is a very realistic and honest portrayal about how women sometimes treat children who are not their own in traditional societies. Women have to bear the burnt of child raising and they project all their angers on undeserving children (according to the stepmoms). In the 1990s we had many Bollywood movies with the same concept the most famous being the very hit movie “Laadla”. Showing a mirror to a society in how people behave like the toxic mom in something in the rain or this step mother makes for a very uncomfortable watch but these things happen in real life.
I really like the little details which make this drama so likeable for me, like the shipping route shown in ep 3 from China to Poland etc. the production team and the writing team did their homework and it shows in the well constructed scenes and the sets around them.
Overall this drama retains some key hallmarks of a Thai Lakorn but it’s very watchable if you binge watch it… A solid 8.5 from me

More focused on the characters

Unlike other zombie movies that I have watched, #Alive doesn't focus so much on the actual zombies. This movie's main focus is on the characters, especially Joon Woo since he's actually the only character we know of for a period of time. This makes the movie boring if you're more of an action interested person, but interesting if you focus the most on character personalities. It also doesn't focus on what caused the outbreak, nor on finding the cure. It's almost as if it's trying to teach us how to survive if something similar happens.

Even though I've seen people hate on Park Shin Hye, which I feel like is unjustified. Both her and Yoo Ah In did a great job portraying the main characters. And the main characters aren't portrayed as this kind of superhumans that live without struggles, we see them struggle multiple times, and that's what makes them better.

The zombies, even though not shown as much as in other movies, were equally as scary as the ones in Train To Busan. But that's really the only thing that is similar between these two movies. If you're comparing the two, don't. If you want to watch this because you're expecting something like Train To Busan, maybe you shouldn't watch it because this movie is nothing like that.

On the exterior, 200 Pounds Beauty seems to have a great story. The movie is great, the way the scenes fit together, and there's comedy, and and a heart warming story, but what really matters is the underlying meaning. The whole premise of the movie was to say that confidence is key, which is a good lesson to hold to, but the movie says that you can only have confidence when you're beautiful. The main character goes though a life changing operation to become beautiful for a guy basically. Over and over again throughout the movie they talk about how being confident is the thing, but while the movie says one thing, they show another. The lead character constantly praises the work she got done, saying how pretty she is, and how happy she is, because she got plastic surgery. This movie does not promote natural beauty, although it may seem like it does. What this movie promotes is doing whatever you can to get what you want, and how you can't be confident if you aren't pretty. The main actress had a beautiful voice, but her character seemed to be drunk all the time. The way she flung her arms everywhere or maybe the way she talked, but she didn't seem to have a stable character. The male lead was a jerk. He was saying horrible things about the lead female one moment, and the next he likes her, for her looks. The music, on the other hand, was great. The main song played, Ave Maria, was really beautiful, and a song that will be clicked on repeat on my ipod. Overall, this movie had decent cinematography, but the underlying meaning was too superficial to make this movie worth anything. I won't be rewatching this movie, because I prefer watching movies that promote natural and inner beauty, instead of saying you can only get somewhere by being pretty.

I really enjoyed watching this lakorn, and would really love to see Pinky and Weir act together again! Their chemistry was so awesome!

I guess to some this is lakorn really is overly dramatic, and I agree with that. The storyline takes many twists and turns, your mind is just going WHAT WHAT WHAT all the time. Sometimes you want to just tell Bow (Pinky) to calm down and just SEE WHAT SHE HAS IN FRONT OF HER! Then there Tos (Weir) who loves his sister a lot and would do ANYTHING for her. But then Bow comes along and he falls in love with her at first sight. He is the perfect P'ek (lead guy). Jealous, irrational, caveman and sweet as cotton. I'm not lying when I say he is CRAZY for Bow, really CRAZY. Some of the stuff he did to her I was not a happy viewer but at the end it was all good. I LOVED it when he smiled at her and calls her tee ruk (darling/my love) its so freaking adorable!

The side characters do get annoying. Some her there for comic relief and some are there to cause you so much HATRED and ANGER that you REALLY WANT TO GO INTO THAT SCREEN OF YOURS AND SLAP THE CRAP OUTTA THEM BECAUE THEIR SO ANNOYING!

It's a very entertaining drama to watch and definitely has all the elements of a thai lakorn. I would recommend you to watch a few episodes and give it a try, especially if your new to lakorns. The main soundtrack in this is STUNNING, when I heard it I literally played it on repeat for months.

Realistic story of 2 souls who face Acceptance, Honesty and life…

[ STORY ]

The movie starts with a simple scene where Zheng Yuxing(ML) is live on tik tok and Chen Chen (FL) can be seen at the back. They share with everyone that they will be going for a spontaneous trip and following that we went up to a long flashback of 1 hour of how they reached this moment……

As the story forwards, almost all things go predictable but still good enough to keep us engaged till the end… 2 lost souls who have there own issue come together not coincidentally but due to a planned lie of the female protagonist.

What can this movie give you? Changing emotions, how complicated it is for a child to face their parent's separation, how a lonely boy seeks light in the world of electronic music and loving a Girl who is actually very far from him and much more…… Moving on and acceptance is another issue portrayed here….

…Please don't look for logics here cause the movie is full of emotionally taken rash decisions…

[2 worthy statements that I found very realistic and relatable —
★ "When it comes to others, everything seems simple but what if it's about ourselves?"
★ "A lot of times we understand we're childish but we just can't help ourselves."]

[ CAST ]
•Leo Wu (role. Zheng Yuxing)— finally saw him in a more free and soulful role rather than the hugely responsible person. He's young and his personality suits this role also. Looking at the BTS from the making, he enjoyed himself while acting and that shows how he could easily portray this carefree role.

•Wendy Zhang(Chen Chen) — look at her cute face. She was perfect for this role. Playing the lost girl who has the ability but ends up taking rash decisions and faces reality at the end. Wendy did well acting up here as the confused little girl who just turned 18.

•Hao Lei (Chen Chen's mother) — Oops. She had a tough role here. This is the character that had the most no. of mood swings lol. Crying, irritated, angry, tensed, faking smiles she had to do them all. Poor her xD

……Except the crowd in background, there were a total of 7 characters who actually had to say anything in the movie (including main leads). Such a small cast list haha. Well, others weren't needed in the story either. They kept it simple with the cast….

[ MUSIC ]
Music was a major part as it represented the ML's field of interest… then all those club scenes can't be done without music…
Theme songs ~~
♪Upcoming Summer♪ — Mayday
♪Eternal summer♪ — resung by Wendy Zhang & Leo Wu (originally by Mayday)

[ REWATCH VALUE ]
Has a 40% chance of rewatch as it's a movie first so short… but going through the confused relationships again is a trouble for me lol. I can watch it someday just to see Leo Wu again lol

[ CONCLUSION ]
Give it a go if you're looking for a more realistic version of relationships. It's not the usual fairytale fluffy version that's common for high-school romance dramas. It's unique and more of a practical, friend-zoned movie. Acceptance and Being brave to reflect and be honest with yourself is the moral of the story.

Sweet and pretty...

This Is the sweet and dramatic cautionary tale reminding all viewers of the importance of introducing your soon to be spouse before the wedding, especially if you are marrying some one your parents may disapprove of..

It also tells us the important of planning the wedding well and knowing your guests...

Other than that it is pretty sweet and has a lovely beach setting as well as both drama some geometry all in less than one hour.

Was it great, no, but the acting was good enough and it did show a nice palette of ways to relate to the LGBTQ+ community... Some unexpected funny lines and well great use of hoodies and video...

All in all definitely an ok watch

Nice slightly different mini-show

This is a very nice mini-show. I really liked how this differs from most of the similar themed shows out there. In this we get a FL who chooses to try and change her villain husband's opinion about her. A hard thing to do when ML is in love with someone else and the author fights against the changes.
Character wise:
FL is a stubborn and kind woman who somehow enters the novel she just read and didn’t like the ending of. As the villain's wife she gets the chance to change the storyline. She soon falls in love with him.
ML is quite strong and cunning even though he is also warm and caring. He is the villain of the novel but can’t help falling in love with his wife, thereby taking a different path than he is supposed to.
Acting wise this might not be top shelf but the actors do their best within the limited time-frame.
So, if you like a good time-travel/novel-story that is interesting and sweet, this is well worth watching.
