Neither main character is a green flag, and it's ok.

I'm not fond of time jumps; they are good when used properly, but they are misused often. The writers* did a good job of avoiding the usual pitfalls of moving the story forward, skipping years, without creating that sense of dissonance often found when not done properly. At this point in the story, I would say that both Janes are red flags. One has trust issues because he stopped trusting himself, while the other one has good intentions but bad communication skills (in matters of the heart) and only knows how to manipulate and build high walls. But it's ok; this is what makes this story engaging. So far, neither of them is evil, just flawed like most people. I said writers, as I have not read the source material

Crown Prince is clearly NOT related to any of his brothers

At this point it is very, very clear that the other various Princes share almost no genetic connection with the Crown Prince because ... every single one of the other Princes is mentally damaged. Either they are simply dumb as a post such as Prince Lie, insanely insecure to the point of incompetency such as Prince Ning and Prince Yu or outright psychopaths the way power-mad Prince Ding and creepy Prince Xin are. The fact that Crown Prince Hua Yong is actually sane is strong evidence for the theory that HIS dad is perhaps NOT the Emperor, but rather his late Uncle, the true heir to the former Emperor. And that this may be why he was poisoned as a child.? At any rate, this episode features more evidence that Prince Ding (who wasn't actually poisoned in prior episodes) is freaking insanely jealous and power-hungry and orchestrates a betrayal and near slaughter of the Shen family. Interestingly his wife (played by actress Snow Kong, once again paired up with an absolute psycho after having been stuck with one in Pursuit of Jade) is showing to be not the nutcase displayed earlier and tries to talk him out of his power-mad pursuits. One wonders if she will act against his insane actions later? And finally we get to the absolute creepiest, obsessive psychopath Prince Xin, who has resorted to following and literally hanging around outside the Crown Princess' room at night - even when he knows the Crown Prince is inside WITH her!!! He has become an outright stalker and is not hiding it. His stated strategy is that he will wait for the Crown Prince to die and for her to change her mind and accept him? It's truly insane because if the woman truly is his former wife returned he should know that she already killed herself once rather than stay alive as his wife!!! She's told him again and again that she will NEVER be with him. Yet he obsessively persists. Clearly at this point the only way to get rid of this psycho is for him to die. The story will probably drag that out to the very end so it has a disgusting creep to taunt us viewers with.

Betrayal and punishment

To be betrayed by your friend like this? I wonder what karmic punishment Yake will get for this. 🤨 It's very possible that Madam Yu might be right and her son doesn't really love Yake as he claims. That would be punishment enough for her for betraying Tingyun. 😒I was right to be cautious about the Fu family. Even though they are not much of villainous schemers, they definitely hold their name and status higher than the people in their family, and that alone makes me dislike them. Grandma didn't really put that much of an effort into clearing Tingyun's name... She just chose to discard the precious, treasured granddaughter, because there will be others who carry their polished name. 🤦‍♀️😞And what's with Moxing's death? So unexpected! Did someone kill her? One of the Zuo siblings? I bet they would be capable of that! 😯Huh, and now the real plot for our leads will start — Ling will answer Tingyun's call and save her, bringing them both finally together... 😏

The Beginning of the End

IN LOVE FOREVER Ep 8 on Netflix reveals the start of the vile conspiracy between two of the weakest, most detestable, horrible, despicable characters with absolutely zero redeeming value thus far: Utt & GingkamolUtt's underhanded machinations show that he is a weakling homophobe whose bruised ego never healed😠😤😡Gingkamol's insane complicity and connivance with anyone willing to believe her delusional control-freaky treachery exposes that she seriously needs professional help, requires institutionalized care (preferably where the OOTD is a straitjacket), and lots of psychotropic medications😬🤬🔥🔥🔥🔥I cannot imagine a happy ending for Runch and Neen, unless the earth itself opens up and swallows these two, to banish them straight to the 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 of hell!

Seeding doubts

Tingyun should have known better than to libel Ling by claiming he swindled ten thousand taels of silver — now she will have to pay the price for her false words! 😏 It's quite ironic, actually, how he never wanted to cause any trouble for her, yet she asked for it herself by ruining his reputation among his smuggling brothers. 🤨I do wonder if what Zuo Shi said to Tingyun and Miss Fan could actually be true. Probably? 🤔 However, she's bitter and feels wronged in many ways, so she's sowing doubts anywhere she can... and her words have reached Miss Fan's ears. 😟For a moment I thought — even hoped, maybe — that Miss Fan and Mr Yu might be our second lead couple, as it looked like they both might be interested in each other, but now I'm not so sure. But, it's still early to tell what's what, so I'll know as the story progresses. And about the Yu and Fu families in general — I trust neither. All those ladies seem like such schemers on how to use their children to climb the ladder of status and prestige. The only exception so far might be Tingyun's brother, Tingzhuo! 🤨

Time running out

This episode takes us right back to the battle for first casket. 6th master did an excellent job getting the second box there. Chen was stuck inside the casket and 6th master had to do the end fighting and heavy lifting. The bottom line, they survived and completed the mission. Cox Hendry helped get the casket shipped out but wanted to make a deal for trade. Zhang refused knowing the Americans, real objective was Changsha. Officer Luo confirmed with Xie that armed groups would soon be outlawed and eradicated. At most mystic nine had 30 days left before disbanded. While Zhang has a pretty good idea of what’s coming, I was surprised that Xie didn’t tell him the timetable. Wu as a mummy 😱 Qi knew how to rescue him, but the result was no memory. Wu had put a map in his arm and had a pill in his hand. With Qi’s knowledge of the turtle breathing they restored Wu to his usual self physically, but his memories were swiped. Even Huo couldn’t make him recall her. When leaving the auction house with Xin Yue’s dad, he offered her an experimental drug to try. Maybe this will get her through black plague symptoms. Tottori is a one man band screaming for justice for the Japanese. Unfortunately he has clout in all the wrong places but hopefully Huo has been successful in undermining his activities and his confidence. He still plans scorched earth and that is probably the judgment coming in a month about armed groups. Wu is funny that he wants the noble’s house rather than his dog business home. 🤣😂 It is also funny that even with no memory XiaoYu is still puppy Zhang to him.🤣😁 He has figured out he and Zhang are far from best friends but his memories are still scrambled. The fake shooting of his second brought all the memories back. He is very angry in that scene unfolding a second time. Now he can start filling in in what happened in Japanese camp. Hopefully he has intel on their future plans. The story is still being told well. There a foreshadowing that it will be a somber ending for mystic nine. Hoping that mystic nine shooting scene was fake like Wu’s second. 🤞

A Love Torn Apart by Duty and Sacrifice

Episode 8 was so heartbreaking. It feels like Phob was trapped between two impossible choices, his duty as a soldier serving his country, or the man he loves. He was put in an impossible situation, but in the end, he chose what he believed was right. But I keep thinking, what if Phob had chosen Prince Tin instead? What if they had run away together and simply chosen each other?Would they really have been happy?I feel like Phob would have carried the guilt of knowing he abandoned his duty and failed his country. Even if he had Tin beside him, a part of him would always wonder if he had made the wrong choice. And yet, by choosing his duty, he lost Tin anyway. That is what makes their story so painful. Phob chose to do what he believed was right, only to face the consequence of losing the person he loved most. That scene between Phob and his mother broke me. I really feel like his mother saw Tin and deliberately said those things, making it sound like Prob only came back to Tin because he wanted to continue with his plans, not because he truly loved him.And Tin heard every word.He misunderstood everything. Then he ran off into the rain, crying, and honestly, watching him break down like that completely broke me.Because Tin had already given up so much for Phob. He was willing to throw away his royal status, his wealth, his entire life as a prince, just so he could run away and be with the man he loved. He chose Phob over everything. And what did he get in return? He felt betrayed. He felt unwanted. He thought the love he believed in was never real. And somehow, even while his heart was breaking, he was still apologising to his father, believing that everything was his fault. That hurts so much.Tin was willing to lose his crown for Phob, while Phob was willing to lose Tin for his duty.Neither of them stopped loving the other. They simply chose different things when life forced them to choose.I think their breakup was inevitable. Maybe they needed to lose each other before they could truly understand what they had.But when they finally find their way back to each other, I know it is going to be explosive.Because this is not a love that simply disappeared. This is a love that was sacrificed, misunderstood, buried beneath duty, guilt, family, and heartbreak. They Never Stopped Loving Each Other, They Just Chose Different Paths

Very good start, and love the leads. I am so excited!

I am so happy this has finally released! I waited for this so much. Ding Yuxi and Deng Enxi were amazing in Melody of Golden Age, and I am thrilled to watch their on-screen chemistry once again! 🤩🥰I already know I will love Zhao Ling — a quick-witted smuggler and, of course, skilled in martial arts. I always love fight scenes with Ding Yuxi, he does them so well, so I hope we get plenty in this drama. 😏I already noticed how much Ling cares for Sen, and I can assume he's like a little brother to him — someone he trusts, wants to protect, to keep him out of danger and to ensure his life turns out better than his own. Him telling Sen not to use hits that might kill people combined with the first rule of survival he taught him already proved that: "If words will do, never use your fists. If fists will do, never spend money. And if money will do, never risk your life." 🤗I wonder how long Ling will be able to keep his role as Imperial Envoy, because there are people already onto him being an impostor, Fu Tingyun included. And his role actually is not that convincing, because he doesn't know nobleman's etiquette, nor does he know anything, really, about the man he's pretending to be. 🤭Tingyun seems very clever, composed and oh, she's so beautiful. I am quite sure I will love her character, and can't wait to see what dynamics Tingyun and Ling will have. 🤗I love the choice for dresses here. Finally, they are not as long to sweep all the floors and soak all the mud. My heart always aches when I see those beautiful costumes treated that way.The premiere was great and I can't wait to see how the story will evolve. I haven't read the novel so everything pretty much will be a surprise to me, which very likely will make this journey so much more interesting! 🤗🤩

It's getting more exciting as we get toward the end

Only four episodes left and a lot is happening. Ji Wenxuan's double is, in fact, his twin brother who he thought was dead. Like a long time ago. The Ji family has a lot of skeletons in the closet.
