I Have Many Issues Yet I am Enjoying This

Dare I say… I am actually ENJOYING this!!! The first episode is insanely hilarious.

Even though the story is pretty basic, and at times soo illogical that I genuinely ask myself, Who wrote this??? Also, I am tired of kdramas centred around amnesia YET here I am still watching so clearly something is working.

First of all, let’s talk about that Lead couple’s first encounter in Japan. WHY would the female lead tell this man SO much personal information about herself when she didn’t even remember who he was?! She basically gave him her entire biography and then casually dropped the fact that she has moles on her butt. GIRL??? This was so unrealistic. Also I didn’t feel any depth from their interaction in Japan.

Secondly, the female lead MOGGED Jung Hae-in completely in terms of presence and aura. Her presence is SO strong that Jung Hae-in is practically invisible next to her. She completely outshines him.

And speaking of Jung Hae-in… he is just not doing it for me in this drama. He looks dull and completely auraless. It’s just that same blank face in almost every scene. Plus he doesn’t look like a gangster at all. I have seen him in badass roles soo I don’t know what went wrong here.

It’s honestly such a weird experience because I’m enjoying the drama despite all its nonsense, but the one person I expected to carry it for me is currently giving me absolutely NOTHING. But I will keep watching for the Female lead bcz I am loving her.

The Emperor’s Chessboard

Joy of Life Season 2 picks up right where the first season left off, in the most convenient and, frankly, ridiculous way possible. I remember thinking, what are the odds that belt would actually come into play? Yet somehow, it worked. I missed the crew, I was entertained, so I’ll take it. That pretty much sets the tone for the season. Joy of Life knows when to be clever, when to be absurd, and when to simply ask us to go along with it.

If the first season was more character driven, with Fan Xian trying to balance his desire for a simple life against the expectations placed upon him, the second season leans more heavily into the plot. Fan Xian is now deeper in the game, fighting corruption, injustice, and an increasingly tangled web of political schemes. Many storylines from the first season continue to unfold, but the biggest elephant in the room is undoubtedly Fan Xian and Lin Wan Er.

The cat is finally out of the bag, and honestly, it hurt. There are so many things standing between Fan Xian and Wan Er that I sometimes wondered how these two could possibly make their relationship work. Yet this is one of the things Joy of Life does exceptionally well. It can move from comedy to something genuinely heartbreaking without making either feel out of place. The emotional moments hit because the story actually gives them room to breathe. There were deaths and sacrifices that genuinely made me cry, and when that happens, you know the drama has done its job. At the same time, I was very happy that the characters I desperately wanted to survive actually survived.

The second season also retains the series' signature way of wrapping depth in humor. This is not necessarily the kind of comedy that makes you laugh until your stomach hurts. It is more the kind that makes you shake your head with a smile and think, genius. The wit, sarcasm, ridiculous situations, and perfectly timed delivery constantly kept me entertained. Even when the story became politically dense, Joy of Life somehow managed to make it digestible. It is basically a bowl of complicated political noodles served with comedy on the side.

And at the center of all this remains Fan Xian, still one of the most likable protagonists around. He is witty, sarcastic, mischievous, clever, and just the right amount of troublesome. Zhang Ruo Yun also came back looking noticeably leaner, fitter, and more toned, and I have to admit, I loved the new look. His appearance in the first season was cute and charming, but this version of Fan Xian carries more gravitas. He looks like someone who has survived enough political nonsense to know exactly how much trouble he can cause.

Interestingly, there are fewer action scenes compared to the first season, but I did not mind. It actually fits the direction of the story. This season is more concerned with political maneuvering, relationships, and the consequences of decisions than with constant displays of martial arts. When the action does arrive, it feels more meaningful because the drama has spent time building up to it.

I particularly enjoyed Fan Xian's interactions with the Emperor. Watching these two challenge, test, and outmaneuver each other was fascinating. Honestly, I applaud Fan Xian, Chen Ping Ping, and every official in the room because I would have developed vertigo trying to figure out what the Emperor was actually thinking. The entire Qing court feels like the Emperor's chessboard, with everyone else moving according to rules they do not fully understand. There are schemes on top of schemes, plots on top of plots, and twists that somehow lead back to the Emperor's will. At some point, I just wanted to tell him, whatever you want, Your Majesty!

The political side of the story is also surprisingly fun because Fan Xian continues introducing modern concepts into ancient China. Treasury bonds, banks, intellectual property rights, and other ideas are explained so naturally that it feels like getting a free 101 course disguised as a historical drama. And somehow, I found myself getting excited whenever a modern-looking item appeared in ancient China. Oh, what this drama does to me.

Among Fan Xian's relationships, his friendship with the First Prince, Li Chen Ru, was probably my biggest surprise. I expected another difficult prince, but instead, the two actually get along rather well. They bond over their sense of righteousness, their connections to the same people, and, apparently, their ability to throw hands. I really enjoyed their friendship. Meanwhile, Fan Xian's relationships with the Crown Prince and Second Prince remain as complicated and politically charged as ever. Yet even these complicated dynamics are presented with enough humor and personality that they never became exhausting.

Wang Qi Nian also remains one of the highlights. His loyalty to Fan Xian is just as entertaining as ever, and I love this duo. Deng Zi Yue from the First Bureau is a welcome addition to Fan Xian's little crew too. He has a cute energy that fits nicely into the group.

But if there is one thing that made this season especially warm, it is the Fan family. Fan Jian and Liu Ru Yu continue to be wonderful parental figures, while Ruo Ruo remains adorable and proudly Fan Xian's number one fan. I also enjoyed seeing her learn medicine and surgery, especially because those skills eventually became useful. I am particularly interested in where her story with Wu Zhu will go, and I suspect that is something the third season will explore further. Fan Si Zhe also gets some interesting character development. He remains the cute younger brother, but there is more to him this season than comic relief. I am genuinely enjoying his growth and, more importantly, I hope the Fan family stays as warm and close as they are now.

The scene at the dock was especially meaningful to me. The revelations toward the end were not exactly surprising since the first season had already planted plenty of clues and, unfortunately, spoilers are everywhere. What I was more worried about was where those revelations would leave Fan Xian emotionally and where he would stand with his family. Seeing him reassure his parents on the dock completely got me. That Fan family hug was one of the happiest and most touching moments of the season, and yes, I cried. I am glad Fan Xian made that choice. As Wang Qi Nian would say, Fan Xian never disappoints.

One character I desperately wish had more screen time is Wu Zhu. Somehow, he appears even less than in the first season, yet he still manages to make me worry whenever he does show up. His story toward the end, together with the continued mystery surrounding the Divine Temple, brought back that same sense of curiosity I had in the first season. There is clearly something much bigger hiding behind all of this, and I am very much looking forward to seeing where it goes in Season 3.

Visually, the drama remains faithful to its established style. Some of the CGI is noticeably rough around the edges, but overall, the production still feels authentic and grounded. The color grading is soothing and easy on the eyes, the compositions are often pleasing, and the camera work is thoughtfully done. I especially enjoyed Wu Zhu's action sequence toward the end. The directing continues to be one of the show's strengths.

And then there is the music. The OST, background music, sound effects, and overall score add so much flavor to the drama. I genuinely enjoyed listening to it throughout the season. Even the use of yodeling somehow works. There were plenty of moments where I found myself completely absorbed in a scene simply because the music elevated it so well. Joy of Life understands that sometimes the soundtrack can be the secret ingredient that turns a good scene into a memorable one.

The ending is also very Joy of Life. Like the first season, it does not make a huge fuss about delivering a traditional grand finale. Instead, it simply keeps moving at its own pace and lets the story end where it naturally needs to end. Thankfully, unlike the first season, it does not leave me staring at the screen in existential despair because of a cliffhanger. There are still plenty of loose ends, but the season wraps things up neatly enough while teasing the next chapter in a straightforward, playful, and witty way. And honestly, I am ready. There are clearly many more stories to tell, so please speed it up!

In the end, Joy of Life Season 2 is just as witty, twisty, clever, layered, hilarious, poignant, and thrilling as its predecessor. It may shift from character driven storytelling toward a more plot heavy narrative, but it never loses the personality that made the first season so special. I enjoyed it just as much as Season 1, and now I am left with only one problem: waiting for Season 3.

Absolute Cinema!

Amazing! I need a sequel, a behind the scenes documentary, and four spinoffs. This drama was just too good, and an absolute pleasure to watch. I can not put into words how enthralled I was by the cast. I grew so attached to every single character. Everyone arrived to this set locked in! I loved how each relationship, romantic or not, was written with so much care and thoughtfulness. Unlike some other dramas, never once did I feel like a character's morals were being compromised to move the plot along. I am definitely going to be rewatching this thirty more times 😭

Press Play; The Fun

I think you should go tap the play button and check this out, if you are looking for something entertaining, fun, hilarious and sometimes emotional, something that doesn't go with a rom-com genre or anƴ usual genre. This just feel innovative, I don't remember watching this kind of plot before and that was what made everything more interesting .

I didn't think I would stick through with this while I started and here I am savouring the ending I never really wanted this to come to an end this early. Will miss this a lot, almost every moment was hilarious and fun, but some moments just hits emotional. Can't count the number of times I laughed aloud, had smiles and made empathy with few characters.

First of all, I loved the unique plot: about housing. A man who wants to embezzle 17.8 billion won to save his boss (who was like a father to him) from prison. I don't remember watching a similar Korean genre and that made it hit differently. Finally not a rom-com, supernatural or action, Just something lighthearted, emotional as and thrilling.

I think I love this show a lot more than expected, the fake family that turned it a strong bond that surpasses that of a real family. The way Hae Gang and Tae Man expressed their father and son love, when Tae Man was just someone who helped Hae Gang when he was much younger and raised him into he is today, just feels genuine even with the less backstories given. The chemistry between the leads, that doesn't need to be shouted aloud, from their gaze, care and talks, Love it all.

The show had an interesting villains, that actually suprised me a lot, I thing it's the actor behind the face that perfected the villain. The actor did an amazing job with the portrayal of a villain, that laugh, shout, cry, mockingly pity and all other emotions, was a great depiction, the villain had this perfect portrayal of comedic, yet menacing looks that actually clicks right each time.
Talking about the chemistry he had with he had with the ML Hae Gang, when he just behaved so unserious, the interaction and dialogue they had when Hae Gang found out Lee Chung Won embezzled the money was fun and interesting, them sipping drink from the straw staring at each other was PEAK.

They were characters I became invested in unknowingly, I never expected that I would love Suk Jin, at first I thought of her as a troublemaker and fault finder, but I think it stems from her righteous zeal to help the residents and I warmed up to her without knowing.

I enjoyed the Kang sisters relationship, whatever things that caused conflicts between them was for the other protection. and It was endearing watching them trying to protect each other.

I love, loved the ending I was busy eating everything up Lee Chung Won being arrested and Hae Gang and his team openly exposing his crime, seeing him in that state of true anger was the first time I saw that real pain form the character, and the actor portrayed it so well. I would have loved to see the more story between Ha Jeong and her other pair. Seeing the come together after three years was for the old times and had two new member, even them meeting with the residents again was heartwarming. They must have being thrilled meeting the President LOL Hahaha. Would have loved the story to delve more into things esp at the ending episodes but with the limited twelve episodes the story did a good job.

Overall, I think you should go watch this if you have nothing to watch and you just want something fun entertaining and new. I haven't watched Ji Sung in a show before and I have heard of his wonderful performances, seeing it firsthand is always better, the other cast also did a great job and to our villain an applaud and award.

I think I found this story more engaging than I expected making me stick around till the end which I haven't mostly done 2026, so It's a big win. I enjoyed this family and residents a lot.

The standards are in hell.

If you ask me, this is a borderline pedo fantasy - making Risa legally old enough there is no issue, while also making her mentally a toddler. She was beyond childish, innocent and naive, she was written to act like a child. This is a juvenile acid dream. I’m giving one star for Sakurada Dori and half star for how ridiculously entertained I was while ranting about this drama. That’s it.

Risa was just painful to watch. Someone could stab her with a knife and she would apologize to them. She was tested and threatened with sexual assault, and she thanked the person who did that. Girl was threatened with sexual assault but 80% of men in this show, and she stayed friends with them, because why not. Why did she have a mentally of someone who has been in an abusive relationship for the past 76 reincarnation cycles? She had no individual thought in her brain. Whatever someone said, she internalized it so hard. It was sad. And she had no concept of boundaries. Honestly, isn't this drama offensive for people who live in the countryside? Because this is how they excused and explained her behavior - she was dumb, innocent and knew nothing, because she was from the countryside.

The thing is, the drama was not even subtle at selling “child-adult” like romance, with Risa saying things like "I'm not cute. I'm just a kid". No, you are a grown up woman, the infantilization was wild. "Don't grow up so quickly" - WHAT DO YOU MEAN? She grew, she is an adult, she is not a child. Why would a grown up man want his partner to stay in that toddler like mentality, unless he has some pdf preferences? She said she wants to learn to be more independent and mature, and he went: nah. And there are more lines like that. Ride be saying “If this goes on, I’ll always remain as a child.” YOU ARE NOT A CHILD!

It did not help that often her reactions were framed as "overrelations" (don’t get me wrong, she did panic about most basic and random shit), but the whole concept and all the plot lines were not normal in the first place. There is no normal reaction for this abnormal situation. And they keep drilling into my head how much she needs him with lines like "I realized after being apart from you... That I'm too useless when you aren't with me" Baby girl, you were useless when he was around too.

And I kept being reminded how inexperienced she is. "Fukami-san you are too skilled" she said after he kissed you like he was possessed by a teen spirit of Park Shin Hye.

There was one thing I agreed on with Fukami Hiroto though: "When I'm with you, I become absentminded" - same. She was draining all the working neurons out of my brain. The drama tried to make me believe he changed for her and became more human-like, but only for Risa... but what do you mean? He did not behave like a normal human being with her either. But then did anyone in the show act like a real person? I still cannot move on from Risa’s bestie wanting to borrow Hiroto and then go on a threesome date with them, to try to steal him.

As for their romance, every episode I kept asking myself - so why do they love each other? Throughout the whole drama they did not have one proper conversation. We had it all in just one episode - holding hands, hugs, kisses, devil’s tango - BUT NOT ONE PROPER CONVERSATION. They kept saying things, proclaiming undying love and I kept screaming “WHAT DO YOU MEAN?”. This was the most empty superficial love story on the planet of the Earth... and honestly any other planet in the whole universe. I still don't really know what they loved about each other.

I love some good age gap relationships in dramas, they often bring more realistic and well explored conflicts between the couple. The age gap was not the issue. The mental development was. She was in her 20s, he was in his 30s, maturity and experience wise, she was in her 10s. There were so many moments that were just framed in such a weird way. Example: her trying black coffee and acting as if the guy is trying to make her take hard drugs - I thought she might get a panic attack from the stress of it all.

Then we have some of the most ridiculous love rivalries ever. Tsubasa Yoshiki argues that Fukami Hiroto has no claim over Rise, because he did not know her that long… when in fact we know they literally saw/met her and got interested in her on the same day, maybe 30 minutes apart if I’m being generous. Not that it matters - you can know and love someone for years, it does not mean shit. Then we had a frenemy CEO who sexually harassed her, a stalker who sexually harassed her, and an ML’s assistant who sexually harassed her. You see the pattern right?

I don’t even want to talk about how every man in this drama got interested in Risa, because of her looking like a scared and shy child. Or how there was not one normal and healthy relationship of any kind - romantic, platonic or familial.

Production wise it was not any better. I still remember the make over compilation, where for some strange reason they decided to make the background keep matching the color of her outfit, so you could not really see much of how she looks - everything blended too well. Or how in the same scene, different angles our male lead would be shirtless in one shot, another angle long sleeve shirt - same bed, same moment.. Who cares about the continuity. Placement of the music? Wild. What was that euro summer club party from 2010s music during the attack and rescue scene?

Acting wise I truly have no thought. This is not the writing that could have been saved by performances. Risa was supposed to have one “scared and shy” face, Sakurada Dori was just supposed to look hot. That’s it. I can hear the directors suggestions just stating “male lead needs to be hot, female lead needs to act toddler”.

Overall, I am just left with one question - who the heck is the target audience for stuff like that?

The Most "Meh" Show Ever

This show had the potential to be so great. The story was interesting and the plot progression was pretty good. However, what really brings the show down are the male and female leads. I just couldn't find myself rooting for them, and their chemistry was basically nonexistent. In comparison, I loved almost all of the side characters so much! They single handedly carried the heart of this show on their backs. Each and every single one of them had more compelling performances and character arcs than the two main characters. By episode 20 I just didn't care for the protagonist's romance anymore, and wanted to skip over their scenes entirely. It was a good cast weighed down by a mid main couple. :/

A Tragic Finale That Unintentionally Validates the True Villain

I understand that the point of the story was to highlight Moo-hyuk’s heartbreaking and unfair life, but how Eun-chae’s father was handled in the end leaves a bitter taste. The fact that the truth was never revealed almost feels like a validation of his actions. Everything turned out "fine" for the wealthy family, while he never faced a single consequence for destroying Moo-hyuk's life from the moment he was born. He is a deeply cruel character from start to finish; I doubt even his own daughter's death would have changed him. He would surely keep justifying himself until the end.

By depriving him of a family, Eun-chae’s father stole Moo-hyuk’s access to an education and emotional stability. Without those tools, he fell into a dangerous, forced kind of love, desperately clinging to an unfaithful and toxic relationship that triggered the entire tragedy. It's worth noting that Yune was in almost the exact same position: despite all his privilege, his immaturity kept him obsessively chasing Min-joo without knowing how to let go. Both ended up broken by the same environment. In conclusion, every single misfortune in this story leads right back to the same culprit.

This ending sends a dangerous message: it implies that certain people have the right to make drastic decisions about others' lives under the guise of "protection." Nobody has the right to decide for you or shape your destiny behind your back. A tragedy where the real villain won by getting away with it.

its like filing for love cos its office romance but bl version.

i was hesitant because its not from big bl companies but ngl the actings way better that those bl companies. i like the stories of the characters around them but i hope they executed them well. too bad because the book is thick and for sure they have good stories but its not showed here.

chemistry between the leads are good. the top is downbad and has personality (according to my friend and thats why they love him)

i like where characters are flawed because thats part of their developments its not all sunshines and rainbows.

my friend and i laughs at the filler scenes where the male lead's haircut is different from the rest of the episodes. the prod prolly wants the episodes to be longer.

Love That Endures, Love That Sacrifices, Love That Lets Go

This was such a beautiful and enjoyable journey. I went into this drama expecting a fantasy romance, but it turned out to be so much more. The seven tribulations kept the story interesting because each one brought a different setting, different challenges, and a new side of Chu Kong and Xiang Yun's relationship.

What I loved most was how the drama explored different kinds of love.

Chu Kong and Xiang Yun's story is about a love that endures. Through countless misunderstandings, challenges, and circumstances that constantly test their relationship, their connection continues to grow. Their journey really made me appreciate the idea that genuine love can endure even when life makes it difficult.

But the drama doesn't focus only on romantic love. Zihui and Jin Luo also have a touching story that shows another side of devotion and love. Their relationship brought some very emotional moments for me.

I also found Xiu Ming's character particularly interesting. His feelings and the way he approaches love offer a different perspective—one that made me think about how love isn't always about getting what you want. Sometimes, genuine love can also mean caring deeply for someone and wanting the best for them.

And I can't leave out the sibling bond between Jin Lian and Jin Luo. Their relationship reminded me that love isn't only something shared between couples. The love and protectiveness between family members can be just as powerful.

I really enjoyed Xiang Yun as a character. She's playful, curious, and sometimes hilariously mischievous, but she's also clever, brave, and surprisingly perceptive. Watching her grow throughout the story was one of my favorite parts. Chu Kong's serious personality contrasted so well with hers, giving us plenty of funny moments along the way. 😂

The drama also did a great job balancing romance, comedy, fantasy, mystery, and emotional moments. I definitely shed some tears, but surprisingly, I wouldn't describe it as overwhelmingly heartbreaking. The lighter moments helped balance the emotional ones, so I could enjoy the journey without feeling completely devastated. 😅

Of course, it wasn't perfect. Some parts became a little complicated, and there were moments when the pacing felt slower than I would have liked. Not every tribulation affected me equally either. But overall, the good definitely outweighed the flaws.

What stayed with me most after finishing this drama is its message about love in its many forms. Love can mean enduring, protecting, sacrificing, supporting, and sometimes simply wanting happiness for someone you care about.

In a world that can sometimes feel crazy and hopeless, it's comforting to watch a story that reminds us that genuine love can endure. ❤️

I laughed, cried, got frustrated, and became completely invested in these characters. Most importantly, I finished the drama feeling satisfied, emotional, and inspired.

9.5/10 for me. Definitely a drama worth watching. ❤️

I can't explain how much I loved this k-drama, how captivated it kept me from one episode to the next, or how involved I was in the story.

From actors I already knew and adored from other k-dramas (21,25; It's okay to not be okay, Weak Hero Class 2) to the story that was so well written.
And the subtleties were there. It wasn't just a ghost story, it was about such a timely subject.

"We tried our best to survive. But you all... want to die.
She was lonely and struggling. So she wanted to die. She had no idea what true loneliness and pain felt like.

She wanted to let go of a life that I desperately yearned to have!"

Ollie and me are basically around the same age tapi aku kagok banget wokk sama transformasi dirinya. kek- dia dulu ingmyuttt bgtzz skrg jd menggagahi shuyuan hehehehe. Tapi kemarin pas di Weibo Gala di Thailand, pas dia nyanyi, suara dia masih suara yang imutt itu wokk, berasa nostalgia Boysplanet aku :D

zuzur aku ngga nonton trailer-nya sih, karena begitu tau Ollie is in it terus waktu itu udah masuk GagaOOlala eps 1 nya, langsung cascus nonton wokk. gileee first impression nya... BAGUSS bangett. BUDGET nya itu wokk, keliatan banget HIGH BUDGET. sangat NIAT. dan MINIM AI atau bahkan nyaris TIDAK ADA elemen AI-generated!!! Kalaupun ternyata ada elemen AI-nya, ku apresiasi sih editornya karena aku ngga notice samsek. Pemandangan aja, mereka shoot kota asli loh wokk, nih ya ada mango city, banana (?) city (jujur agak lupa namanya tapi intinya nama buah-buahan deh kalau ga salah), itu semua based on kota asli/sebenar/nyata/rill.
-----------------awal cerita : berlatar si Shanghai. kedua pemeran utama sama-sama warga kota fiksional yang sebenarnya itu adalah Shanghai.

2. Cerita didalam cerita

zuzur aku sendiri lebih hooked sama cerita nya Feng chi, daripada cerita sebenar. Konsep kayak gini jujur aku baru nonton sih, menurutku ini bener bener menarik banget. dan ternyata konsep kayak gini udah pernah dipakai di My Stubborn?? aku belum nonton My Stubborn sih might as well watch it later.

3. Intimacy dan Chemistry yang Tumpah-Tumpah

Gileee, bagian ini jujur aku kagum banget sih wokk. Intimacy di drama ini tuh bukan yang sekadar jualan *kissing scene* visual doang, tapi TENSION-nya itu loh... kerasa banget menembus layar HP/laptop! Mana ada plot mereka disuruh cohabitation (tinggal bareng) 15 hari di hotel demi ngebangun chemistry karakter kan? Nah, di situ adegan skinship sama tatap-tatapan mata pas lagi bedah naskah bener-bener bikin deg-degan parah!

Perubahan dinamika dari pas mereka lagi latihan peran (karakter Fang Chi & Gao Zhun) sampai akhirnya batas antara akting dan perasaan rill mereka makin kabur tuh dapet banget. Ollie yang padahal aslinya ingmyuttt, pas lagi adegan intimate sama Shu Yuan tuh kelihatan mature dan dominan banget wokk! The characterization is another major strength. The characters don't feel like simple archetypes designed to serve the romance. They have their own motivations, relationships and ways of thinking. Friendships, betrayals and struggles for survival are treated as meaningful parts of the story rather than obstacles that exist only to bring the leads closer together.

Most importantly, the romance develops gradually. The relationship between Zhao Ling and Fu Tingyun doesn't depend on instant attraction or exaggerated devotion.
