Incredulous!

Six episodes in and Incredulity is what has been keeping me going. I imagine it will soon wear off any time now. I am definitely not making it to ep 61. The acting is nice and all, visuals are okay, characters are diverse and enjoyable (the FL's paternal aunty being my fave), but it is the story that's giving me a hard time.

Between FL and ML's 20th breakup in three episodes (over the same unchanging issues no less) and their audacity to rebel and live together but apparently not to run off and get married, I am not sure which one rises my ire more. A relationship for 10 years? I am curious what has been holding that together. Surely not this dynamic we have been introduced to since episode 1 where the ML professes love for the FL but has no problem looking at and contacting other girls?

How do you also explain, that the ML and FL's families live in the same neighborhood and know of each other but somehow the FL's sister is now married to the ex-husband of the ML's sister and both families are oblivious to this fact in the drama.

More importantly, other drama's depict no shortage of part-time jobs but the ML and FL are "studying" all day instead? Almost 30 years both of them, not incapacitated in any way and they won't find a steady stream of temp jobs to support themselves now that they have a baby on the way?

I know Telenovelas hold the trophy for the most incredulous happenings in dramas but this drama, from what I've seen so far is seriously vying for a spot. My amazement at every new episode is what's kept me this far.

A waste of time

Why was this made? We didn't need it. Did anyone want it? This was such a nothing show that it may as well not have existed.

There was zero plot, & all the drama came down to jealousy and the most nonsensical breakup I've ever seen. The script was also mostly teasing, flirting, or arguing with little in between, which almost made me drop the show. Honestly, I'm still not sure why I finished it.

The acting wasn't the worst, but it definitely wasn't the best either. It felt constricted, and maybe that was because of the script? There isn't much you can do when the script is mostly you making doe eyes at a boy & bragging about said boy. Them speed-running the relationship also didn't do the actors any favors since they didn't have time or wiggle room in the script to actually build up the character past 'love-sick' or build chemistry.

Also, why did every online conversation between Fuse and Ana have to be public? Are DM's not a thing on whatever platform they are using?

The OST reminded me of retro video games that repeat the same beat the whole time you play and will slowly drive you crazy if you don't learn to tune it out. It was horrible, loud, & distracting.

Vee & Mark are mentioned WAY too much. I get they are the most popular couple, but bringing them up at least once an episode won't save the dumpster fire that is this show.

I hate giving it 1.5 stars because I've definitely watched worse shows & rated them higher than this, but in those shows there was at least 1 thing, no matter how small, that I liked; whether it be an actor, a scene, a plot point, OST, a cuddle, etc., there's something. Here, there was nothing. It really was just a show, one of many, sadly, that lacked any substance.

Less grand gestures.... more real-life comfort

See You at Work Tomorrow! is a grounded, slice-of-life drama that captures the daily grind of corporate life better than most traditional rom-coms. Rather than relying on over-the-top tropes, grand gestures, or dramatic plot twists, the show focuses on the quiet realities of everyday employees dealing with burnout, workplace politics, bad management, and career uncertainty.

Cha Ji Yun represents the modern working professional who is dependable and capable, yet quietly exhausted by routine and personal setbacks. Her hesitation and guarded nature make complete sense given her past experiences. When she moves to a new team led by the reserved Kang Shi Woo, their connection grows at a steady, realistic pace. Shi Woo starts out looking like the typical cold supervisor, but underneath that strict exterior is someone who is deeply supportive and dependable.

Seo In Guk brings a natural, understated charm to Shi Woo, making subtle expressions and quiet encouragement stand out. Park Ji Hyun handles the early workplace frustrations well, and the dynamic of their project team adds plenty of relatable, humorous moments that anyone who has worked in an office will instantly recognize.

The series does slow down in the later episodes once the main pairing settles into a comfortable rhythm. Some conflicts resolve a bit too neatly, and the lack of high-stakes drama means it will not satisfy viewers looking for intense melodrama or non-stop butterflies. However, its mature communication, realistic pacing, and focus on healing from past baggage make it a comforting watch.

If you are looking for an easy, low-stress romance to unwind with after a long workday, this show is well worth a spot on your watchlist.

Lacks the impact of Season 1, but still enjoyable at parts

A Shop For Killers is back with season 2, however is much inferior in terms of action, pacing and suspense.

The season begins by filling in the missing pieces of what Jin Man was doing while the events of the first season were unfolding. We see what happened to him and his team before eventually arriving at his reunion with Ji An. From there, the story moves more firmly into the present, following their lives after that reunion. Compared to the first season, which was packed with action and flashbacks designed to build the mystery around Murthehelp, the second season felt more like action and revenge, with lack of suspense and slow pacing.

Apart from pacing, the characters were underwritten too. The sudden development of Ji An and few side characters were unconvincing. The character of antagonist, Bale, gets killed midway of the season, that somehow was the main aspect of the show. The second half kind of became sluggish, with good action, but weaker narrative.

Overall, A Shop For Killers : Season 2 is still fun, but lacks character development, narrative foundation and slow pacing. However, slick action and world building conflict makes up a little. Still a decent watch.

Tedious lead female character & Alot of handsome men

This is total female escapism stuffed with handsome men & swoon worthy closeups of them. Pure fantasy fuel.
Even though it's not without it's flaws, this is a fangirl's delight that's embarrassingly addictive & smile inducing. It will have you mesmerized while at the same time appalled at how often you fins youyrself entranced.
I'm going to explain why I only gave it an 8 at the end, but let's start with:
Date # 1 : Lee Soo hyuk - he's coolly suave here & so he has to be first so you can put him out of your mind as the drama continues- because really no one else even comes close to being so heart fluttering. The scenario he's in is cringy & total trope but the truth is the other dates pale in comparison.
(with the exception of Lee Sang yi' : whose frustratingly blink of an eye comedic cameo as a firefighter-who given more screen time WOULD make for an impossible choice if up against Lee Soo hyuk) .
Suffice it to say that the camera gives you plenty of swoonful, heart stopping moments involving Lee Soo hyuk's character & he sets the bar pretty high for the other dates that follow.
Date # 2 made me cringe. School dramas are not a genre I enjoy & not only was everything pink but it was weird as the female lead was SO much older & experienced than her date. He also was more of a boyishly earnest puppy/golden retriever type boyfriend, which didn't appeal to me personally. Additionally, it was a painful episode, raking up the female lead's dating past. Oddly, it didn't make me sympathetic towards her, as both she & her ex had changed as well as both had become mean.
Now about the virtual world:
They seemed to be making a point that being in a fake virtual romance/relationship will leave you dissatisfied with real men, ( I mean isn't that the same expectation vs reality dilemma as with men & porn ? )
As the unmemorable, but good looking dates rapidly fly by in the virtual world, in the real world, Seo in guk hides his charisma in a cave somewhere off camera. He dead pans most of the drama -sleep walking around with barely any dialogue & is bafflingly bland. (Now THAT is acting !!!) Seriously, The blame is completely on how his character is written as we know he normally radiates charisma in anything he does.
Not to despair; his charisma is revived near the end of the series.
I think that it's possible that the very point that the drama is attempting to make is that women may over look a perfectly nice, attractive guy in thier search for exciting & thier definition of "perfect" & that both men & women a fearful of being hurt.

So what makes this less than perfect ?
The female lead is not very likeable. She's only nice when it benefits her. She is cold. Though they do show a reason, I was not convinced that it was actually a valid excuse for how she keeps brushing the male lead
off . Honestly, they don't give a good reason why she's worth the male lead's effort. Further more, she wants him to prove something that he has no control over & make promises that she herself can't make.
So here is where the discontent lies:
As with most other new dramas this female lead only turns nice once she is in love. She will inevitably revert back to her natural unlikeable personality once she's been in a relationship for a length of time- we actually see this occur in her previous relationship.
I found the "follow your heart" trope/theme to be a stagnant & a damaging bit of advice to the plot as a romance as it equates to: "follow your emotions & feelings" and only consider yourself.
For a story to be really good & satisfying you need to feel that there are things that are worth investing in & that "keeping" those thingss/relationships takes effort, which requires commitment & discipline- all things that might not feel good in the moment & you might not want to do, but it's those things that makes great love stories.

Endurance-
that's what this drama is lacking. How long can the couple "live in the moment" ? Once they stop having heart fluttering moments ? So they pretty much are setting themselves up to fail with no thought to the future & a lack of commitment.
That the female lead asks advice from an AI that was created from her own detailed input means that it's her advising herself- so everything is from her persecutive-which seems rather unhelpful to her. AND of course the AI guy will tell her to leave her heart with him as he is programmed to keep her attached to him, to keep her a paying customer for the program! The game is a "Honey Trap" and as addictive as opium. I was glad that there were consequences & that the resolutions didn't take long to get worked through, but I couldn't ever really warm up to the female lead .

this is why I only gave it 8 stars.
The female lead continued to be unlikeable.
At a critical point she could have been honest about the doppelganger boyfriend, but she isn't. That she sees the virtual boyfriend a few times afterward the male lead found out about it, made me like her even less.
I was glad that they were very tasteful in only implying that the leads spent the night together, (leaving a question mark there) but was very disappointed that the end had them implying that she was pregnant- BUT there was no definition to thier relationship- not engaged, not married, just living in the moment. TTHAT's not going to work now, is it!? !

there is enough here to lose yourself in the warm fuzzies, but the rewatch value is only for skipping through the story to get your fan girl fantasy on if that's your thing.

A Story I’ll Carry With Me

I honestly don’t know how to review *When the Lights Fades* without admitting how deeply this series got to me. I started watching it expecting to enjoy a BL, but somewhere along the way, I became genuinely attached to these characters and their story. **It has now become one of my all-time favourite BLs**, and I don't think I'll be getting over it anytime soon. ❤️

What stayed with me most was Ravin. He is the kind of character I naturally gravitate towards—someone who knows what he feels, stands up for himself and the people he cares about, and isn’t afraid to express his love. There is something incredibly refreshing about watching a character who can be vulnerable without losing his strength. Both leads felt like genuinely good people in their own ways, and that made it very easy to root for them.

And then there is *them*. I can’t quite explain why Bas and Llongchang's dynamic affected me the way it did. I’ve watched plenty of content of other pairings and enjoyed their chemistry, but something about these two just felt different to me. Their little expressions, the way they look at each other, their moments together—somehow I found myself reading far too much into every tiny interaction and then happily becoming completely delusional about it. 😂

What hurts, though, is that the story eventually becomes so serious that we don’t get nearly enough time to simply enjoy their relationship and the softer moments between them. I wanted the ordinary moments—the flirting, the teasing, the softness, the little domestic things, the happiness of seeing two people who care so deeply about each other simply getting to *be together*. It felt like we were finally given something beautiful and then immediately asked to worry about everything else.

Still, the moments we *did* get are incredibly precious to me. I actually rewatched some of their scenes from the first few episodes recently, and instead of hurting the way they initially did, they made me feel ridiculously giggly. 😂 I think that's when I realised just how attached I had become to this story and to these two.

This series isn't perfect. There are definitely things I wish had been explored more, especially their relationship and the softer side of it. But I think that's also why it has stayed with me. I cared enough to wish for more.

For me, *When the Lights Fades* became much more than just another BL I watched and moved on from. It gave me characters I connected with, a couple I became embarrassingly invested in, and moments I know I'll keep going back to.

And honestly… if I’m still rewatching their scenes, getting butterflies and smiling like an idiot, I think the series did something right. ❤️

Sunglasses at Night and Dry Kisses

​What is with the bodyguards wearing sunglasses at night?

That was so funny and random, hahahaha! And why on earth put him in a body bag? That’s just crazy! I was enjoying it at first because it's quite funny and cute, but I was hoping the whole episode wouldn't stay like that.

The first 5 to 10 minutes were amusing, but the rest? I just felt confused and annoyed, thinking, "What is actually happening?!"

​When it comes to the romance, I actually preferred the chemistry of the second couple over the main couple. It feels like there isn't much spark between the main leads—though there’s definitely potential if the execution had been tighter.

Maybe it's because I've watched everything from simple sweet kisses to hardcore BL kisses, but their kissing scenes sometimes made me frown. They looked kind of... dry? Like there were no real feelings behind them, which probably means the actors weren't fully comfortable with those parts.

​The plot decisions also threw me for a loop. In the beginning, regarding the funeral company, I was really hoping they would show us at least a portion of what he actually inherits rather than just a quick glimpse. Then out of nowhere comes the kidnapping of the heir, Wang Zhan, and I was just sitting there going, "Huh? All of a sudden?!"

​The 3-month training arc was another funny moment. They didn't really show us much substance aside from physical training, which doesn't seem all that relevant for someone trying to learn how to be the next big boss. Honestly, the only training that felt somewhat useful was the part with the blondie.

​Looking at the series as a whole, the narrative pacing tends to jump randomly, character motivations can feel scattered, and some of the comedic setups clash weirdly with the dramatic beats, leaving me with unanswered questions about how certain transitions happened so abruptly.

​On top of that, there are certain subplots are introduced just to be dropped, and the transition from a serious corporate/underworld succession battle to lighthearted romantic comedy can feel jarring. It leaves you feeling like the script needed another pass to smooth out the rough edges.

​Despite all the loop holes and weird creative choices, it has a lot of wasted potential. Even with those flaws, I'd still recommend it if you're looking for a light, unserious series to pass the time and want a good laugh!

For Xu Kai , it’s must watch .. Xu Kai has given brilliant performance and it’s total surprise

Completed this drama. Absolutely worth watching for all those who prefer to watch Suspense/ gritty/ crime/ BRILLIANT PERFORMANCES by Xu Kai as Chen Hui and Ding Yong Dai as police officer Chen Hong Bing, remained my favorite characters. Next is Chen Hui Mom and Grand Pa.
This story has got suspense, mystery and tight screenplay.
Xu Kai delivered best complex emotions, with his Eyes and amazing facial expressions. Xu Kai should do more and more modern dramas that has more than CEO roles. His natural domineering style and charm has added fun moments effortlessly. I am non- Chinese speaker, but had totally connected to Chen Hui emotions, tears rolled down while Chen hui breakdown moments. Chen Hui character has multi layer complex portrayal scope.. and Xu Kai managed to deliver every single layer absolutely amazing and perfect to the point. Xu Kai natural way of showing gentleness added best father -son - mother scenes throughout.. in this drama, he outshined in showing emotional side, dark, gritty, vulnerability , helplessness. It made me extremely sad and emotional with Chen Hui end.. but I do see the arc of this role.. and potrayal. So Xu Kai receives respect and recognition for making us believe his pain.

Then comes to Ding Yong Dai, his performance almost makes the viewer to believe as real father and son chemistry and screen time. His character arc is consistent and he and Xu Kai got the best scenes that makes the viewer to rewatch the episode. He made the viewer to feel sad for the father and son’s entanglement.

Hu Ke, played Ding Yue role also gets connected to audience/viewers and makes them emotional in all the mother - son scenes.
FL is ok, she has delivered what’s been demanded. But Songge character could have written bit more tightly, so viewer could connect or root for Songge’s interest or wish to live long.

Over all, Xu Kai’s performance is excellent and promising and makes the viewers feel for his pain and naïve, restlessness, vulnerable side of Chen Hui.
This performance of Xu Kai is noteworthy , can be critically acclaimed.. after Gu Yanzhen and Han Ting, Fuca Fu Heng.. hope he selects more scripts that has performance scope.

Am surprised, to see some bad reviews .. this drama is worth watching and praising all the main characters.. who did exceptional performances and great work.
Don’t go with reviews.. if you want to watch nice performances, this is must.

Xu Kai is an incredible talent and got fan following in USA and India . Binge Watched this drama with friends, we all speak different languages , having English as common language , we all could connect to every emotion on screen. That shows this drama is winning and Main characters did great work.

Wishing him best roles like
- playful - fun loving + witty + smart
- very calculative , intelligent
- negative shades lik Chen hui
- more and more modern roles with full of life.

A drama that is both steamy and healing

There were some heavy topics including the realities of family conflicts, domestic abuse, and the taboos of sex. The topic of consent was addressed frequently, which is sometimes rare in these types of dramas. The lead couples had great romantic chemistry and I totally believed how much they grew to support and care for each other despite their fear of rejection. There were lots and lots of spicy scenes in this drama which focused more on slow, erotic foreplay and the director and actors did a very convincing job of portraying physical intimacy that was steamy, even if the pants are still on.

As for the plot, we have two individuals with vastly different experiences on love and sex that have impacted their definitions of what constitutes a romantic relationship. Although they start off fighting like cats and dogs, they eventually find common ground. Through their unique beginning, each finds a form of healing and for the first time gain a relationship that is both healthy and rewarding. Although misunderstandings did occur, the pair chose not to hide from them and began to openly communicate to resolve issues. Despite a lot of negative situations, the positivity and trust that develops was inspiring and touching. Lastly, it has my required happy ending, is rewatchable and recommended from this drama watcher.

Yagitu aja

Saya setuju sama salah satu ulasan berbahasa Indonesia lain yang bilang kalau series ini banyak kemiripannya dengan Your Name Engraved Herein. couldn't agree more. but gatau kenapa YNEH lebih ngena daripada ini..

Yang bikin aku kagum, series ini dibintangi oleh Edward Chen, aktor yang sama yang memerankan Ahan di YNEH. Confirm dia bukan cuma membintangi BL demi duit, i could consider him as an ally.
Terus, series ini rilisan tahun 2017, sangat berani membawa topik realita kehidupan queers didunia yang begitu kejam. Ditahun segitu, industri BL Thailand sedang dalam fase "queer-milking" alias asal rekrut aktor asal bikin drama tanpa menyadari cerita2 yg diangkat lebih berasa "fetishizing", sebagaimana citra sekelompok fujoshi pada umumnya. Tentu ada pengecualian terhadap series tertentu tapi skandal aktor 2Moons bikin aku sadar, even di negara dengan public acceptance yang tinggi terhadap LGBTQ people seperti di Thailand saja masih banyak modelan orang sampah queerbaiters kek gitu.
Lalu kemudian aku suka banget sama OST opening nya drama ini, bener-bener sekali dengar langsung nempel dikepala.

Evil to Good, and Good to Evil

I think a dichotomy a lot of dramas fail to play around with is good to evil or evil to good, but this drama did both! It was done pretty well, although at times I could not see how logically speaking these characters switched up so drastically.

This drama was not particularly exceptional to me, but it did keep me hooked the entire time which is a plus. I also loved how badass the FL was and how soft the ML was. It made for a really good dynamic between the leads. The second lead couple was actually so cute; I didn't think I would find them to be so heartwarming.

I do kind of wish they would not have chosen to abolish the monarchy. I feel like the whole interest of the show was that it was a parallel universe where the crown still existed, and abolishing the crown just made the ending feel like it lost the whole original plot. Maybe that's just me though lol.

Overall: I'm going to try to rate this against other comedies (even though I wish they had gone a bit more dramatic/serious with the tone). 12 episodes about 25 minutes each.
