The OST and outfit are masterpiece in that era.
This is the Hallyu drama who make K-drama more famous to the world, this drama promotes Korean culture exceptionally well, packaged beautifully within a romantic comedy story.Every scene is wrapped in stunning visuals, start from the actors' costumes, which blend Korean tradition with modern elements that were remarkably advanced for the era, to the choice of palace settings and cultural details, all complemented by music that perfectly suits every scene. Why were the drama OSTs from those years so good and such a perfect fit? Whenever we hear even a snippet of one of those songs, we instantly recall the specific scene associated with it.

Decent scenario, wasted on visuals-heavy average acting
Beautiful cinematography, interesting plot and worldbuilding, but it all falls flat on the acting - not horrible, not great, simply average. The soundrack is certainly good enough but no song worthy of relistening. Would've been so much better with different actors who could emote and 'sell' their characters properly.Lost my interest and simply stopped watching eventually.

This is the drama that made me fall in love with K-dramas in 2005
By that time, I had already watched several Japanese, Chinese, and Korean dramas. However, it was this particular drama that got me excited and interested in learning more details about other dramas.Even though the story doesn't make sense, how could someone be so naive in that day as to be easily deceived by a close friend, and put up with being yelled at every day by someone they had just met? But Song HyeKyo and Rain make this drama enjoyable to watch thanks to their chemistry and funny interactions. This is also what made me realize that this is indeed a rom-com drama where you don't need to overthink the direction of the story. The interactions between the FL and the ML's family, especially ML grandmother, are absolutely delightful and something I always look forward to.
If you hate red flag men who boss their partners around and yell at them, you probably won't like this drama. The drama might feel drawn out due to repetitive conflicts, yet this is precisely where we see the male lead’s character development as he becomes a better person and grows to cherish the female lead. The female lead also matures throughout the story.
I love this drama so much that I rewatch it almost every year, whenever I listen OST from this drama, I feel an urge to watch it all over again. The soundtrack is masterpiece and brings back fond memories of the past. The fact that it has been remade in several countries is a testament to just how popular the drama was at the time.
This drama is etched in my core memories and will always be one of my all-time favorites.

A Slice of Life
Now that its on netflix, i decided to give it a try.The story is about natsumi, as the stroy progresses we get to know about her character. A person going through a rough patch in her life trying to find her place in the world. The story is all about Natsumi with other characters mostly as background.
This became one of my most favourite watches ever, the characters are self sufficient, the plot if not draggy or too melodramatic at all and it was really nice memorable moments to look back it to. The bond between the brothers is really nice. Each brother has a distinct personality and they are likeable in their own way except for the eldest one.
It also deals with topics such as grief and betrayal. The story wraps up nicely and we get to omurice a bunch of time. Also natsumi is a baddie.

Sex sells...
or so, because most screentime is awarded to nc scenes or stupid banter. Story? Afterthought. There is not really a comprehensible story. How they got to be lovers is just ridicilous. It does also not help when the subtitles are not well done and many jokes are drowned through bad translations.I guess this was just a payday for the actors and they had fun doing something stupid. There are worse things then getting paid for doing something stupid. But overall this was just awful. A series doesn’t always have to take itself seriously, but there was not a story to speak of, the jokes were mostly in poor taste and of the lowest calibre.
And the finale was the usual fanservice. Production quality was ok, but because it was not a DMD production, it was not as good as DMD could have made it. The audio editing was especially poor with many songs often mixed in one scene which does not make sense at all.
Thai's can't do comedy imho. Maybe I need to have a special humor to get it, but even with humor there is no story which could elevate this series. It's just a waste of time and there are more interesting things to watch.

One of the best Xianxia dramas out there
this drama.. I've watched it years ago. and still can't forget about it. out of three franchise of Ancient Love Poetry,The Last Immortal and Moonlight Mystique, this is the top one for me,even more favourite than MM,even though I'm a BaiLu fan. one thing I want to say is that Zhou Dongyu.. SHE'S A PHENOMENAL ACTRESS. no wonder she's a movie actress. The plot is so good, it's stuck in my mind even after years. whoever loves xianxia dramas, give it a try. it's very very good. And will not disappoint you.Was this review helpful to you?

So bad it's actually comical
Let me make it clear from the start: This drama is cringe.Storyline: A train wreck. No logics, no originality. Almost everybody is on a guilt trip, except a few who are just evil. absurd ending.
Acting: It has the general feeling of a pantomime. Either expressionless or overacting. It's so bad I think any village theatre production would be above this. Song Wei Long is either hunched or pulling ugly faces. The support characters come across as a pantomime.
Make up: Song Wei Long looks more like a transvestite than a demon lord with that ridiculous eyeliner. His puffed up wig makes him look more like a middle aged western lady than a masculine hero. The overall result is second hand embarrassment. Deng looks like a 15 year old with a fake moustache. Some of the other characters also look straight out of a slapstick comedy.
Bad direction, choppy editing, CGI done by the intern, etc.
I'll stop here, I think you get the picture.

Highly recommended! Road to Success
The cast is soooooo!! They're so handsome and talented the way they act is full of emotions! I always finished drama after it air or all episodes are out but this one I cannot control myself to watch it everyday! 😞I usually pride myself on my self-control when it comes to watching dramas. My golden rule has always been to wait until a series fully finishes airing so I can binge-watch all the episodes at my own pace. But Road to Success completely shattered that rule. I honestly cannot control myself—I find myself counting down the hours and tuning in every single day the moment a new episode drops on iQIYI!
The biggest reason this drama is so utterly addictive is the phenomenal cast and the unique direction by Lee Ching Jung. She has this magical way of capturing intense, raw, and full-of-emotion moments that tug at your heartstrings, making the everyday struggles of the characters feel so deeply personal. The leads are incredibly handsome and beautiful, but it’s their immense talent that truly holds you captive.
Esther Yu delivers such a brilliant, refreshing performance as Lin Wanxing, the sharp psychology PhD student who unexpectedly finds herself managing sports equipment at Hongjing No. 8 High School. Watching her interact with Chen Jingke, who plays the mysterious, brooding former British football coach Wang Fa, is pure gold. Their chemistry is electric—the perfect blend of her playful psychological tricks and his strict, stoic demeanor. They don't just deliver lines; they make you feel every ounce of their hidden baggage, healing, and slow-burn romance.
Beyond the main romance, the underdog football team completely steals the show. The emotional rollercoaster of watching these bottom-ranked students fight through intense Gaokao (college entrance exam) pressure while chasing their athletic dreams is incredibly motivational. It strikes the perfect balance between high-stakes sports tension and deeply moving, human moments. Every episode leaves you desperate to see them overcome their next hurdle, which is exactly why my plan to wait for the finale completely failed. If you want a drama with a gorgeous cast, stellar acting, and a storyline that makes you care about every single character, Road to Success is an absolute must-watch. Just be prepared to lose all your self-control!

Journey With The Antagonists
The production value of this series is certainly exceptional. The cinematography, costumes, music, and editing were near perfection. There are many scenes that will bring you deeply into the story with laughs, tears, joys, and sorrows. It is an entertaining and dynamic story that brings you along and introduces you to characters that you know will enhance or add significantly to the story. Nothing is meant for diversion; it is all for moving the story along. While this story had all the elements of being an epic, it never quite got there for me. It feels like it should have been, but it just never quite reached that pinnacle. I found the ending a bit belaboring and oddly unsettling. As with their whole love story, it just never felt complete to me. Honestly, I was so much more moved by the ‘antagonists’ and their love than I was by the love connection between the protagonists. Was this review helpful to you?

A good romcom in early 2026
I have high expectation about this drama after know the cast and trailer. I liked the story in the first few episodes. The lead actors' performances were good, even though there was a lack of chemistry between them. The male lead's acting felt a bit stiff and awkward in certain scenes, despite him being a rising actor. Many fan service's of course if you guys like it, but the plot story deteriorated in the last few episodes. The conflict that arose could have been resolved better if the main couple had communicated effectively, and it is not clearly shown what karma SML receives after committing all those evil acts against the King.If you’re looking for a romcom drama reminiscent from the early 2010s drama's, this might be the perfect choice. It features a female lead with a strong personality and a funny side, alongside a handsome, seemingly cold male lead who harbors a dark past. Well, this is like the type of romcom drama from ten years ago, where the story didn't need to be overly complicated or demand that the audience think too hard, and watching it simply brought a sense of warmth and happiness.

Pretty good for a short
Considering this was a short it was one of the better shorts i've seen. I was lucky someone made this as a movie, so i didn't have to endure 2 minute episodes. The story was good, the visuals and music were good too. I always happy to see a historical BL.
The actors all did a good job, the mains had some chemistry. The kisses and NC scenes were ok, not bad, but not great either.

oh my god.
dare I say one of the best bls I’ve watched.. there’s cute scenes, there’s spicy scenes, there’s serious, there’s funny. it has literally everything. it’s so perfectly done. the title is CRAZY CRINGE but oh my god this series was AMAZING. Not to mention their chemistry was OOZINGG. I knew Fluke (Sila) from GMM but this showed a whole new side, the way he looks at the other guy honestly I would fold immediately. Chemistry 10/10, kisses 10/10, intimate scenes 10/10. Loved everything about this series genuinely!! I just wish we got more of those two younger boys!! they were so cute:(Was this review helpful to you?
