Casually good for a historical BL but felt bored from the lengthy episode

Not a big fan of time travel as the root cause of everything in a drama but seeing a historical Thai BL for the first time ticked my interest. Especially when a beautiful couple of handsome guys play the main characters. They have the right amount of chemistry and they did a pretty job of portraying their roles.

The overall distribution of the whole drama package was just a neutral rating for me. Yet, they created a memorable scene wherein they drive their uniqueness in flourishing the olive oil massage scene with matching orchestra music in the background. It gives a sensational and erotic feeling towards the time traveler guy.

With all these, I am happy to see them end up together in the present time. But with the special clip shown during the credit roll, maybe a second season is possible which will be going to focus on the more distant past and letting the audience witness once again, another historical love story from the two. Yet, I am not sure if I will watch it or not because honestly, I hate feeling so bored watching a specific show, which I felt during the airing period of this drama.

I won't say it was worth it

Over all i liked the story line! was something new but just like most of other gmmtv shows there was a need for improvement. in some scenes over all the series was good but at some scenes it went dull like there where major ups and downs in the acting and the storyline. it was not consistent with the acting and story. earth and mix are great actors they just need a better script to showcase their talent because this series didn't attract my attention enough to watch other earthmix series..
But it depends on person to person you might like it..

Fell short of what it could have been

I expected more. I loved most of the cast and the characters. I laughed and I cried with them. (The goodbye speech left me distraught for the rest of the evening.) And I respect the attempt to honor heroes. However- the story of the male and female lead didn’t make any sense. First of all- she’s the queen of bad luck. But she’s also very bland. There’s not much to like or dislike about her. She’s just sort of there. Male lead was fun and charming… would have liked to see some romance but it was all very cold. I still have no idea why they separated in the middle. Apparently the writers didn’t think this was an important part of the story.
The side stories were also largely skipped over. The supporting actors were great and it would have been good to see more of them, instead of just a recap here and there. And the ending left me rather confused- not just about the storyline but about what the directors were even thinking. It was weird.
So- mostly great cheaters that I would like to have seen more of. Relationship issues that left me more confused than anything. Plenty of eye candy. Should have done a few more episodes and told some complete stories.

While not perfect the acting was on a whole other level compared to any other 2023 Thai BL.

I have no idea why people find the story messy or hard to follow, especially if you take your time and re-watch the episode if you really can't follow.

The concept is unique and while some writing is questionable especially avoiding the death of each main character. I have no idea if it's exactly the same in the novel, but they could have taken some leeway to change the story in this aspect. The show's highlight is the acting of Tor and Teng which is completly on an other level. It's neither cringe nor creepy to love whom you love especially knowing they have met at the same age. Their chemistry and acting is nothing I have seen in this years Thai BLs which is the main reason I can overlook all the faults this series has especially in the finale. I would have ended the series when they met again at the cinema, all the continued story was completly unecessessary and irrelevant and would have resonated more positively with the audience.

This series also did a great job to convey he feelings of the young Ongsa and old Suansoon which will move emphatic people to tears (as it did with me). Because the acting was so great I rate this show as high, because you can only watch in reverence of such a performance.

Eh....

Not one of my favorites that I've seen from Japan, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy this series even a tinsy little bit. My Personal Weatherman brings about a toxic tale of poorly executed love and its downfalls.

Let's Dive In.

One reason this series doesn't do it for me is because the leads kept going in a circle and achieved no real resolution, nor did they ever give themselves time to be open and honest with one another. I saw another comment where someone said this couple doesn't do talking and instead they're the masters at paying attention to each other's subtle messages, and once seeing it from that view, I understood them a bit better, but I'm the type of person that's always second guessing what someone is thinking or saying or feeling about me, so I would've loved it if at some point in the series they had a sit-down and open conversation on their feelings towards one another.

And circling back to the no real resolution -- Well, they don't. They'll continue to go in a cycle of Yoh feeling like his life means nothing and Mizsuki will continue being jealous any time Yoh hangs out with his friends and will continue being shut off about his feelings. This also goes for Yoh who wants Mizuki to show some sign of want and need, except he only ever communicated this when drunk. And the way Mizuki manhandled Yoh just wasn't my cup of tea. But besides that, the actors had great chemistry and great intimacy.

I liked the best friend of Yoh, I think she was a great addition to the story and I liked all the added Manga effects whenever we saw her or whenever she was around Mizuki.

Ratings:

Story: 7.5/10 - It's very intriguing to see their dynamic, and I kept wondering how they're going to inevitably fix it, but nothing is fixed, and they're still obviously going to have problems in the future. but nonetheless, this was a short and easy watch with me finishing in one sitting. I liked the best friend and her husband a lot.

Ating: 9/10 - Good! Nothing inherently bad or inherently good, but it works for this series. Kouhei's (Mizuki) acting stood out the best with having the fake persona around others and his real one around only Yoh.

Music: 7/10 - Didn't pay it much mind, but I liked how the music wasn't overbearing during their intimate scenes and we really got to see and hear everything going on.

Recommendation Value: 5/10 - Not something I'd recommend to the regular ole' BL fan. It's very twisted and very dark, reminding me of my hatred of My Beautiful Man, but at least this one isn't as bad. But I have a plethora of other JBLs that hit the mark, so sadly, this one is a no-go.

How far would you go for love?

*Minor Spoilers

As a result of watching "Mr Queen," I became more open-minded about historical Korean dramas. As a result, I watched 'Under the Queen's Umbrella', 'Mr Sunshine', " Flower Crew: Joseon Marriage Agency", "Kingdom" and 'The Kings Affection'. However, in between all of those titles, I wanted one that was more lighthearted. My choice of "Live Up to Your Name" turned out to be great.

While it wasn't nearly as funny as "Mr. Queen", it also had time travel between the modern day and the Joseon Era. The twist was that both time periods were included throughout the journey.

In terms of the story and plot, this is important. Both Dr. Heo Im and Dr. Cho Kyung are mentally and morally challenged, both in modern Korea and the Joseon period of 1592. There are a number of medical choices that each of the leads make depending on their beliefs and past experiences. Each doctor has their own style of treatment. They use these techniques to their benefit.

The story opens with the main character Dr. Heo making a series of decisions that ultimately lead him to the present day. He discovers It is necessary for him to be close to death or even die in order to change time lines.

Dr. Choi's past family incident haunts her to the point it effects her performance at times. A series of circumstances brings the two leads together. Both are very capable doctors. As a result of their union, they have to make a series of difficult moral and ethical decisions. Due to this, the series gets very creative with combining modern and old themes by putting them in challenging settings.

The characters were developed and arced well to the point where I included them on my list of favorite couples in Korean dramas. There are a couple of scenes in both eras that sealed that decision for me.

If you're looking for a time travel fantasy infused with dramatic themes, romance, and humor, "Live Up to Your Name" is a terrific choice. As a result, it leaves one thinking about ethical decisions entwined with skill, moral choices, and love. The acting is good because the leads make the situations relatable and plausible.

well….

they left out a lot of good characters. the serial killer, the live streamer just to name a few. it’s like they condensed 4-5 characters into 1….ugh. read the webtoon first, it’s so much better. I also think if you read the webtoon first , you will have a clue what is going on. this is a VERY watered down version of the webtoon. of course Seo In Guk is perfection! but then again? when is he not? The actors are pretty but to get the full effect of this, you have to read it ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ also….death had blond hair……

Give it a go

I actually enjoyed this one,

HOWEVER it was suppose to be a "continuation" of 2 moons but they changed Pha and never showed his face which I don't understand, then they made Ming into Mark and Wayo into Wayu...ok?

Then it was suppose to be like "Mark" & Kits storyline BUT they started over with them not knowing each other, which I didn't like because instead of showing us either there relationship flourish or crumble, they made us watch them get back together again from the beginning which we already seen.

Also Where was Forth & Beam?? They needed to be in this so we could've seen there storyline flourish (maybe im bias because they were my favorite side couple)

Also also, we didn't need Pha coming back at the end and ruining S2 (IMO) because we all were fine without him even Wayo .. oops... Wayu ?

Good BL, characters not so much.

I would have to say this is a pretty solid BL, I really enjoyed it. The plot was sort of unique and there was a lot representation especially with the deaf community which isn't often seen in BL, and in shows/movies in general so i enjoyed the aspect about it.

The characters were a bit annoying at times, especially the main couple. And I didn't really like how they made Alan out to be the bad guy in the beginning, because I generally felt bad for him. But I was glad that Alan got his own little romance at the ending, or else it wouldn't really feel complete.

There was a lot realism in this series and wasn't overally fluffy, and was more realistic with the build up of the relationships and the relationships had more depth. You don't see that in a lot of BLs. Wen was a bit repetitive with his relationship with Jim, I like how there was more build up, but Wen seemed a bit to desperate and it felt like he was forceful which was a bit annoying.

I honestly liked the side couples more, especially with Heart and Li Ming, I wish there was some spin-off series between the two people they were so much more interesting but had way less screen time. And their overall relationship was more healthy and the dynamics were fun to watch.

So 8/10 feels right, mostly just wish the main couple weren't as annoying as they were shown, (It got a bit better.) And the side couple had more screen time. The age gap wasn't HUGE, but it was kind of weird.

I recommend this BL if you like slow build up between characters and are looking for more diversity when it comes to stories or characters.

actress

I hated the nails of the actress. The actress's performance was not pleasant.
I like the male actor and I watched all the episodes of the series just because of him.
In all the scenes, I felt that the actress was suffering from a disease. Overly long nails like witches.
I think this lady has entered the acting field with party games.
All surgical facial organs, Very bad acting, Artificial kisses
If he cannot perform the kiss scene, he must leave the rehearsal
This woman caused the fall of this series

Didn't hit the jackpot

A strong, solid and gripping introduction that captured the expected theme perfectly, accompanied with thrilling gambling scenes. Choi Min Soo instantly pulled all the attention to himself. He did such an amazing job embodying this harsh intimidating king. However, it wasn't all sunshine and roses, most of the glamorous elements that made the drama attractive were evaporated after 3 episodes. A handful of useless characters may come and go. The gambling became a secondary plot device. Stretching the drama thin and long by introducing three mini-bosses like an anime arc. The main lead was equipped with impervious plot armor eliminating the tension and risks. He may suffer irrecoverable fatal damage just to be resurrected from the depths of hell because the drama can't continue otherwise. A handful of other writing problems that kept holding the drama back sprinkled throughout. The only character that remained interesting was King Suk Jong, waiting desperately for his next scene of which they were scarce for a main lead. Yeo Jin Goo should stop picking up king/historical roles, he might be one drama away from being entrapped in typecasting hell forever.

definitely my favorite kdrama.

ok, first of all i want to talk about how i loved this cast.
i really think that nobody else could fix that well with the characters, I was so satisfied
and one thing that contributed for this was that everyone are SO SIMILAR with the webtoon characters, i was really suprised.
im not going to talk about how hot seo monjoo are, but holy shit this guy really scared me. lee dong wook fix so well with that kind of characters i want to see more of this :c

but an kdrama isnt just the cast, right? lets talk abou the story
man, i loved that story SO MUCH
fear, anger and obsession are the main focus of the story, the way that seo moonjo are a crazy killer stalker made me love even more the characters, i really love things like that.

What I liked most about the story was how they made the Jungwoo's mental decline, that made me go crazy
that kdrama wasnt just a thriller, that was also a psychological horror.
but in compensation what made get so mad was that jungwoo's girlfriend
maaan, that girl made me SO ANGRY
all the problems could have been solved if she wasn't so ignorant that girl made CRAZY
she was so boring... but shes really pretty tho

anyways, i really loved this kdrama and i really recommend if you wanna something more heavy to watch

I have some thoughts....

Ok... I loved Gen Y season 1 but I can't watch anymore of S2, its not that it was...bad, I just okay ....

I didn't like that they brought back Pha, if they wanted to do the storyline that he was sick, they should've done it in S1 -

Basically start out with Pha and Yu being together then Pha breaks up with him out of the blue, that could be the diagnosis and it was to much for him to hand at the time and then he breaks up with Yo and then the whole S1 could've been like then dealing with Pha's illness and him passing away.

THEN S2 could've introduced the new guy many set " a year later" who basically takes care of Yo due to Pha's dying wish.

like season 2 definitely didn't need Pha brought back honestly. The whole sick storyline In this show was just not for me because I was already fine with Pha not being here for season 1

Not Impressed

When Moon in the Day started, it had potential to be really interesting. The whole past life connected to the present life could have been done well but the let down was the story itself.

The major problems I had with the plot was that they really kept dragging what actually happened in the past. Everything was mysterious but not in a good way. Rather in a very slow and boring way. The reveal will only come in the last 3 episodes and you feel like, "is that it?". Also one thing I noticed is the FL in the past had struck the ML on the neck. But in the present, his scar is on his upper chest/shoulder. A very bizarre mistake when you keep repeating that scene and highlighting where the sword struck him. It simply does not match. They just wanted to be able to hide the scar without making the actor wear a turtle neck.

Another thing I disliked is the FL was a strong character. Both physically and mentally. She was capable of taking care of herself but shortly afterwards, she ends up being made to portray a helpless character. I wish they would have kept her character as a firefighter. She shouldn't have had to give up her job. Rather if the writers allowed us opportunity to see how much the ML actually cares for her even when he thinks he doesn't when he sees her endangering her life to save others. For the first half of the show, ML was trying to kill her and that suddenly changes without explaining how or why his anger subsided or why he thought he could move on if he was the one to kill her to begin with when he didn't do that in any of the previous lives. It also begs the question that if he was with her for 1500 years, how was he unable to protect her other times she dies but this time/life it was possible like saving her from drowning to the point that she believed she had a guardian angel.

There really isn't much happening in the first half. The historical scenes were good. They should have shown more moments in the present. This also needed more romance. The ML and FL were serious for the most part. Wish we could have seen their chemistry throughout even if was funny moments.

The brother's character was decent. The bad guy was okay. The other characters were mostly just there without much effect. The monk also spoke in unnecessary riddles so it was mostly a waste.

The ending is okay but I didn't really feel super delighted. Wish they had shown more. I guess you can call it a realistic ending. It's not a terrible show but nothing fantastic.

I thought the theme song and the design of it was beautiful. One of the few things that really stood out.

A Good Watch.

I really enjoyed this movie. I appreciate when actors can convey emotions through their eyes, and Jooyoung and Fan Bingbing did this well. Their chemistry was almost perfect. Although I watched without subtitles, I can understand Korean well enough to follow along. However, I was disappointed that there were no subtitles for the sign language parts. This made it difficult for me to understand those scenes, especially the ending. Even if you can't understand this movie due to language barriers it's a good movie. Honestly, I struggle with liking movies, because I feel they are always lacking something but I liked this movie, it didn't lack anything, I feel like I could see a natural connection forming between the two main characters, and it didn't feel forced at all, it felt very natural. I would say I think this movie was very well done and it would be worth watching at least once.
