If you only focused on the news coverage part then this two drama are very similar, then only difference may be that Pinocchio did a better job incorporating many of the potential boom that we sense in Spotlight but that at the time the writers and directors fail to bring to fruition. Still I feel that it a great idea to actually watch Spotlight because you get a better appreciation of Pinocchio.
There are many difference but just one and only one similarity, and going towards the end it reminded me of Pino, which I wanted to forget so badly ok so the similarity is.
Both deal with a case 15year back....some wronged....etc
And all other differ - from how the leads are, to how the villians caught, to the emotional growth etc

the genres is quite similar yet a little bit different. misty is slightly more matchure and heavy, but the both of them deal with similar subjects such as freedom of press, the importance of the news and powerful people trying to suppress the news or influance it. both have innocent people being framed as a means to hide others corruption using the media and connectors. both feacher the news station as the primary plot setting and use young reporters to uncover the truth and fight off corruption.
It’s similar to class of lies because both of the drama’s are trying to find out what happened and people get kill in it.
They try their best to solve the mystery despite the fear of the truth.
I recommended class of lies because it’s interesting even though you think you know who the killer is you still will have second thoughts like ‘oh wait... is it this guy?’ Something like that.
I cried because of a scene it was sad I felt bad for her and wanted to save her myself but of course I can’t xD. I highly recommend it if you like kdrama’s that are mainly around students and mystery’s. Honestly I thought the main male lead was cool.
