I have watched this drama already in 2018 but yet, here I am re-watching it again now. I find that it is even better and funnier than before the 2nd time round, and I have to say the story and acting are all fantastic. Chief Kim (Nam Goong Min) is totally hilarious and Director Seo (Lee Jun Ho) is great at being the frustrated director trying to topple him. The rest of the casts are also good in doing their roles. The drama highlights the terrible conditions the workers have to put up with when the company's upper management is corrupt and heartless. Also the bullying of weaker staffs by people in power is hard to watch. But Chief Kim gallantly managed to put these bullies in place every time. It is a great K-drama to watch, if you don't watch mushy romances.

Whenever I hit a Korean action drama slump I go to Youtube to see what's available and sadly all of the recommendations that's offered I've already seen.

I had commented on the Korean's version of 'Leverage Funny Moments' and saw on the side recommendations top ten dramas that had great bromance and Chief Kim was one of the recommendations.
I remembered watching some Korean drama funny moments where there was a excerpt from Chief Kim involving him running into a broom stick male part first and I laughed hard but sadly there wasn't a title for that so I forgot about it and saw that part again in the bromance drama recommendation and decided to give it a try.

I've never been good with names so I'm just going to say I absolutely loved the first five main characters in this series. I'm starting to get use to seeing some of my new favorite Korean actors and since I know they're in it then I know I picked a good drama.

The story line strayed a bit as Korean dramas usually do but I eagerly hit the next button because I enjoyed each episode. I also loved the chemistry everybody had.
I did, however, cringe with one of the characters. If you haven't guessed it, yes it was about a female. Even though her role (Im Hwa Young) was awesome, her high pitched voice was annoying. I couldn't accurately describe it but in one episode Dong Ha's character asked her what's wrong with her voice and if it was broke. The annoyed reaction he gave didn't seem like it was scripted. It seemed like he actually hated her high pitched voice and so did I.

The last episode was one of the best last episodes I've seen from Korean dramas. The writer actually knew how to end it!!
I felt the good byes were very genuine because the cast knew this was the last time they will be shooting a scene together and it was time to move on to another cast family.

I did want to point out though that even though I've already seen 3 dramas with Namgoong Min in it, I felt there were some of the times when his humor was just over the top. I loved the serious moments more than I did his comedic moments.

I'm glad I found this series. Now that I'm done, I hope I can find more that's up to this caliber.

Best Drama of the history

This is the best kdrama I’ve ever watched. At the beginning (after watching episode 1), I was feeling that it’s not that much good so I was going to drop it from watching but then I decide to watch it for other episodes too. I’m glad and really happy that I watched it and didn’t drop it. Chief Kim (Nam Goong Min) is the best in this drama because he made me laugh too much, and also made me cry (I’m not a person who cry easily or often) but he was able to made me with his superb and best acting. I could also ship anyone who I want with Chief Kim that’s what I also like. Talking about his expressions, OMG!! I can’t believe even at the serious moment, his funny expression made me laugh badly that I couldn’t even hold myself. I binged over this drama for two days and finally completed it and I’m feeling really happy (a little bit of sadness) even though it’s finished, I want to watch more. I wish that they would release new season for this drama. Other characters were also really good or I should say excellent like Yoon ha Kyung, Prosecutor Seo Yool, Hong Ga Eun, Choo Nam Ho, Park Myung Seok, Oh Gwang Sook (especially her voice), Sun Sang Tae and many more. The ost is also the best ost (the one always goes with funny scenes of Chief Kim)

Okay. No lie. This is the funniest shit i've seen in a long while :p

This show. This show was a journey. A delightful, funny, sometimes sad, awesome journey from beginning to end. They made it so fun, and there wasn't a boring episode from 1 to 20. This is one of those shows that i will rewatch again and again, just for the characters and dynamics between them. The show made me laugh so hard i slammed my hand on my desk, and the next moment i was crying from the sadness of the serious cases, to giggling furiously at our lovely bromances, and yes, there are plural.

I honestly struggled deciding on my fave bromance. Between "filled with sexual tension" Chief Kim & Director Seo, the beautiful cuddle relationship between Chief Kim and Director Choo, and the dynamic between Chief Kim and our corporate prince Myung Seok, there was so much fun involved that i completely forgot about it not having any real romantic scenes.

Of course, our main couple Chief Kim & Director Seo wins the best bromance award. Chief Kim is the perfect blend. He is stupid, smart, cool, awkward and extremely eccentric, but in the best manner possible. Also, his fashion sense won my heart. Nice coats, cool hipster suits and the mobster from the 90's look, all in one. He was perfect.
The same can be said for our precious Director Seo, with the stomach of a blue whale. He's the perfect clumsy jerk we love.

Law Firm Go & Koo Attorney squad won my heart the moment they powerwalked onto the scene. They just ooze of style. I fell for them completely, and had to pause everytime they arrived just to giggle some more. The awesome squad who poses in every scene, and is always accompanied by the best music, i can't help but fall for them.
Morpheus and Neo are a close second, but honestly the whole cast of side characters are amazing and just a delight. From the cleaning ladies in Team 1, to the mobsters, this show is just ripe with the funniest, most charming cast of characters i've ever seen.

There are also some ships i really really shipped thoughout the whole show, and am still thinking about even after the last episode. Especially one Romeo & Juliet ship, that i really want to believe got married and had many kids after the show ended.

All in all, this is a must-watch for anyone who likes bromances, quirky characters and/or hillarious humour with a perfect blend of ethics in private companies. Don't let the corporate politics theme draw you away from this gem <3

The drama is about the country's leading company. The best thing is many characters had different sights in the acting part and dialogues, the emotions, the hard work, and what the actual corporate sector is, it's all about this. If you carefully observe and watch it there are many psychological and deep down the labor exploitation lessons and how to manage the office environment and how to deal with the problems this drama depicts the all. The strange thing is it does not have the relationship thing between the main leads because the office management drama is not all about that kind of relationship yet the supporting character had that relationship, after all, they want to add some slice of relationship. You will not regret it watching this piece if you admire the office management kind of drama and know about business accounts. Corruption is the biggest cause of trouble in every country which is affiliated with politics sadly. The idol Lee Jun-Ho is the second powerful lead in this drama. I admire his acting. Male actors are more dominant and they had done an excellent job. Music is ok some rapping things on various scenes is good. But yeah it can be watch again anytime. In the end, the drama is also about short Mind games, office environment, and business operations

First drama I've given full marks to. Really, if I have any complaints, it's that there isn't a sequel yet.

You may have already heard of the famous bromance, and it is as great as you'd imagine and more. What I found most admirable about the show, though, is how it's actually a redemption story not just for the main lead, but even for other characters. The message seems to be that it's never too late to walk the right path, and it's never a bad idea to.

That said, except for one moment of true sincerity from the main character, the message is very well-masked underneath the hilarious plot and characters. I don't think I've laughed aloud so much watching any other drama. The level of inanity Chief Kim could get up to can only be seen to be believed, but no one could ever say he was stupid. When they coined the term 'crazy like a fox,' they must have had him in mind.

Putting it in D&D terms: Watching Chief Kim transform from a Neutral Evil to a Chaotic Good and dragging along his Neutral Good officemates to become Lawful and even Chaotic Good like him was such an enjoyable ride.

I literally hate this trope...

HEAVY SPOILERS: Always the same. A total piece of trash (SML) redeemed as the best friend of the ML/FL. What is the sense in that? What does it teach to the viewers? I have already felt it going this way during those pseudo-romantic scenes with a FL - in those, she feels bad for him and the melancholic music plays when she should actually rather spit in his face and beat the hell out of him.

I really enjoy when a "dark" style character/duo wrecks and mops the floor with the bad guys instead of a forced, fake redemption presented by so many series. In Lawless Lawyer it is ok - it's not friendship, it's not a redemption but rather consequences of being a piece of shit, which force the bad guy to kinda help our ML & FL by fighting for his life against the crime boss lady who used him and betrayed him.

This show had a lot of potential, has a lot of funny scenes, the relationship between ML/FL & their team is great for a comedy, not realistic, of course - but fun. However, the main story, what they did with a SML screams for Kim Do Ki to put his glasses on and pay a visit in his taxi to make things right for this show... It's especially funny when in another drama of the ML here (One Dollar Lawyer), an actor playing Kim Do Ki makes a small cameo - it would be much more needed here...

I loved this show! It was so funny, the writing was excellent, the acting was on point, just everything was prefect. There is no romance in this show but it doesn't need it, the friendships that the characters built is more important and a romance would have taken away from that. The plot is more about a man finding his own justice in an injustice world and helping others find their voices to fight back too. Chief Kim starts out as a man who is really just out for himself and to get out of Korea in the end he stays in Korea because he finds that he can live his life there without compromising he high ideals. 10/10 would highly recommend!

I pondered a long time before actually watching Chief Kim and I do admit it took me some time to get on with the first few episodes. Everyone was talking about how cool the show and the main lead is but in the first few episodes it seems a little bit pathetic I admit. Do not worry though, after the first 3 episodes the story picks up the pace and sets out on an adventure full of numbers, cheesy bromance and comedy.

Story: You think a story about accounting and finance would be boring but it is not, mainly because while they do mention some stuff, they never really get into any equations - so don't worry if you aren't good in math ^.^ Chief Kim has a straight story which means it goes in one direction and one direction only and won't sway from that path. There are comedic scenes - a lot actually - but as for romance or side stories, there are almost none. I liked that about it though because it made it an easy watch and really used its 20 episodes.

Cast/Characters: The cast is perfect and the characters are awesome. They managed to give so many characters and interesting backstory or trait, you just cannot forget about them. From the always nagging office worker to the two-faced and funny side kick. You'll get all sorts of characters in this drama and the chemistry between the male leads was off the charts...yes, you read correctly, the MALE leads. The bromance in this story is awesome and you really start wishing they were brothers. They do bicker and go on each others nerves a lot but you can kind of see the respect they have for each other. I also loved Gwangsook's two faces, but you'll understand after watching. The cast did great work and I think another name for this drama should be "the one with the amazing facial acting"

Music: It was kind of confusing when there was romantic music between some of the leads, since there is never actually something romantic going on but expect for that the music was placed just at the right time. Also the sound effects were awesome and just made the whole drama better.

Rewatch: Some scenes, definitely. The whole drama, probably not.

Overall: Chief Kim offers you a wide range of characters with amazing and believable character development and also shows a lot of "I'm badass and I'm here to own this show" scenes from our heros and villains. Chief Kim is a must watch show if you want an office and company comedy drama without the romance factor, which is a nice change once in a while!

yes yes yes

Easily one of my favourite dramas ever. Skyrocketed up my list so fast I was taken aback. It lived up to it's recommendations and even exceeded my expectations to be honest.
It is seriously refreshing to watch a drama without dragging, without a stupid love-line, and unnecessary drama. It was hilarious, well written, beautifully detailed. It's twist and turns made sense and satisfied the viewer. Perfect OST, outstanding actors and actresses (they couldn't have been better).
Fell in love with Nam Goong Min seriously this time! I started his new drama Hot Stove League and couldn't wait for more so checked this one out and omg. I didn't like him in Beautiful Goong Shim (or didn not like the drama) and am so happy to have found him here. Amazing artist.
Junho, once again, my crush is still well alive for him. Damn, I didn't think he would pull off a badguy this well, acting on point bro.
One of the best things is definitely their bromance, I laughed so much every time Chief Kim sent Seo Yul kisses or winks. I really appreciate the fact that you could tell from the beginning that Seo Yul didn't despise Chief Kim as much as he seemed to, the bromance started way before Seo Yul became "good".
Honestly even the side characters! They were all so amazing! Shout out to Ga Eun (she bae), Ha Kyung (lovely UNPROBLEMATIC female lead), Mr. Choo (loved the bromance between him and Chief Kim so much as well, his emotional scenes were beautiful), Myun-Suk (gosh he was terrible in the beginning, but just LOVED what they did with his character, instead of making him evil like his father, they made him vulnerable and humane; highlight was his Tanzarian).
The writers and directors did an amazing job at wrapping this up so nicely. The ending was not rushed or dragged out, it ended the best way it could have, giving us a slight taste of what their future plans are. I will miss this so much.
And lastly, I love that they showed us humans with flaws and mistakes, I loved that they showed us HUMANS and not just figures. Chief Kim and Seo Yul were both "bad" people they hurt others for their own good, but they learned, got hurt, cried (Chief Kims crying scene with Mr. Choo was one of its kind!) and changed. They accept their mistakes and their past, but still look forward without giving up.

What an amazing show, it became one of my favorites. :)
It has great actors, especially Nam Goong Min, I liked him in the show The Girl Who Sees Scents, but here he was perfect, and Junho, I loved him in the Just Between Lovers, he was great, but he shined in this show, I am so looking forward to his next projects, the guy is not just a pretty face, he can act and I mean, really act. :)
The best part of the show is of course a splendid writing, the world of accounting has never been more exciting and the characters are one of the best written I have watched in K-Dramas. :)
The show is a perfect combination of action, humor and a little bit of crazy story telling, even if it did not have the romance and I adore romance, I did not mind it, the show is that good, plus the OST was also great and the song Will You Love Me is just beautiful. :)

It's a fun drama with some untypical elements in the story, but if you don't appreciate the over-the-top humor, it's nothing special. I felt that it dragged at times. The story dealt with corruption, connections and covering up big schemes. Those themes are nothing new. For example Pinocchio, Healer or Uncontrollably Fond dealt with similar issues. However, there are enough comedic elements in Chief Kim to make the story way more balanced. I also appreciated the variety of female characters, none of which try to fight over a cute guy. That's a huge plus of the show. There are many references to other dramas in Chief Kim and those are honestly the funniest scenes in the show.

The main conflict between Kim Seon Ryong and Seo Yool reminded me of Falling for Innocence. It has a similar vibe. There is virtually zero romance in this show which was refreshing, but was also a missed opportunity. I thought that the initial scenes between Seo Yool and Ha Kyung were promising and I was waiting for more scenes between the two of them. I am not saying there had to be any serious romance, but this showed did a good job showing the progression of many cool relationships except for this one. I think the writers dropped the ball with those two characters.

Most of the actors did a good job in this. Personally, I am not a fan of Namgoong Min's acting, though. I didn't like his style of acting in Beautiful Gong Shim and I didn't quite like it here. I was totally flabbergasted about Ha Dong's performance after seeing him in Suspicious Partner. What a versatile actor!
