When a live-action version of Ouran was announced, I jumped up and down until I gave myself a headache. I am a serious fan of Ouran High School manga and anime (especially the manga), and I've always thought that it should be adapted into a live action.

I wasn't disappointed, either. The Ouran High School Host Club drama truly was the icing on Hunny-sempai's keki for me. I love the drama, the read more cast, and the entire adaptation of Bisco Hatori's fantastic manga on screen.

In particular, I find that Yamamoto Yusuke plays Tamaki well (I knew he could do it--he is awesome). I don't understand the arguments about his acting ability based on his hair color--which in the manga isn't blonde anyway. A character which surprised me was Daito Shunsuke's Kyouya. Kyouya was my least favorite character in Ouran until the drama. He's still not my favorite, but I like him much more now (that has nothing to do with Daito's suaveness, whatsoever, lol). I also felt that Haruna was a good Haruhi, and Chiba is an awesome Hunny. The Takagi Twins never fail to disappoint, either.

Plot-wise, I feel that the drama did the best it could with the ridiculous time constraints put on it by the network. As the first drama I've ever watched in Real Time, I never once did not laugh during an episode. Everything worked well, and it could not get me more excited for the movie.

Overall, I will rewatch Ouran again because it's that good, it's my favorite manga, and it's a good drama on sad days.

A lot of people who loved the original anime and manga really do not like this drama. That's completely understandable because you are taking fictional characters and asking actors to portray them in a realistic way. For me though who both loved the anime and manga i also LOVED this Live action adaptation. Yamamoto Yusuke was born to play Tamaki. The actors all brought the 2-D characters to life. I could not read more pull myself away from a single episode and was so sad when i heard they were cutting it short to 11 episodes. Less then half of original manga is portrayed in the drama because of the amount of episodes and also the length of episodes. Despite that, this was still an amazing show. It's the kind of show that makes you smile from beginning to end. I will continue to rewatched this drama multiples.

both are based off of mangas and give off similar feels when translated into live actions. Also, the general theme of a group of male students and one female student in high school

I rather enjoyed this version. It's shorter, but they do manage to cover all the members stories. Really didn't feel like anything was left out.

Yamamoto Yusuke is a very convincing Tamaki Suoh! This is coming from a person who has read the manga 3 times, and enjoyed the anime (up until they did a 180 in the plot for the last few episodes to wrap it up >-<). I know Tamaki (In OHHC) grows taller over time, but I wish they picked someone a little more taller. I know that sounds really picky lol but it's just my love for this series. I put this on hold for a while, but for 20 mins episodes, I think it captures at least the fluffiness of the series.

A breeze to watch and so so good! I think I loved it more than I did the anime. With 11 short episodes, of course they left out little parts of it and I think that's probably why. Some of the things I didn't like in the anime were left out and there were some additions here and there which I loved. I appreciate how Nekozawa was added into it too.
Every episode was a pleasure to watch. I have to commend the acting, especially for Yamamoto Yusuke who is fantastic as Tamaki-senpai. I haven't enjoyed a drama like this in a while.
(Really good looking guys in this though - Nekozawa-senpai and Kyouya-senpai never looked so good to me before <3)

This drama was wonderful, loved it as much as the anime. If you haven't seen the anime i totally recommend it, first of all since it has 26 episodes not like the drama that only has 11, you can get to enjoy more of the Ouran Host Club :)

It's funny reading the different views on this drama. When it came out and I watched it, I was EXTREMELY into Ouran. I had watched the anime but loved the manga even more, but I really didn't like this drama. However, I loved the live-action movie with the same cast! Huh, I still don't get it.
