Let me first explain how I got to watching this drama. I was going on a trip so I filled up on random dramas in case I got bored on the trip, among those dramas was this drama Stairway to Heaven, which I had heard so much about. So the trip comes and goes and one night I end up without internet, unable to sleep, and so I start watching this. In read more hindsight, I'm both glad and sad to have made that choice. Now onto the review:

Story: 11/10 (because 10/10 is just not enough!): The story is very unique for me (maybe because this was my first drama of this genre). You end up hating the stepmother/stepsister so much that you want to jump into their world, and stab both...repeatedly. What else can I say? Oh right, keep a box of tissues handy otherwise you'll be wiping away your tears using your blanket(true story!) One other thing I enjoyed about this drama is seeing how the main male lead and the secondary male lead work together to accomplish a goal greater than either of them.

Acting/Cast: 10/10 . Everyone in this cast from the child actors from the first few episodes to the adult actors were PERFECT. I had one small dislike in the middle of the drama, and that was how the main female lead cried. Yes. That's all. Later on, I got used to it and it didn't bother me at all, so it was just me.

Music 9/10: I'm actually listening to the OST as im writing this review. It's GREAT, but not a 10. It conveyed the emotion perfectly and all that, so it was good for the drama...but for some reason giving it a 10 would be unfair in my humble opinion.

Rewatch Value: 5/10: I DON'T rewatch dramas or movies 99% of the time which is why I gave it this low of a score.

Overall: 10/10 - This is a masterpiece that every Kdrama fan should watch. But keep in mind, this can cause tears even from the eyes of manly men like myself. However, sometimes while those tears are dropping, your mouth will be smiling uncontrollably.

THE ultimate emotional "trial-by-fire" drama of all time(also my 1st melodrama). Watching STH you find yourself being enchanted/heartbroken by the young Park Shin Hye and Baek Sung Hyun, you find yourself screaming and wanting to b*tch-slap Kim Tahee and the evil step-mom and you find your tears flowing at Kwon Sang Woo’s soul piercing, heart-shattering sobs. The result being your fully vested in this hauntingly unforgettable drama. Added bonus is the provoking/beautiful/memorable read more OST.

7 years ago STH was my first journey into dramaland and even now when I hear "Bogoshipda" their's a quick bittersweet tinge of feeling. A must watch....just make sure to select lighter fare after STH.

Both drama are about a girl who lives happily with her father until he remarries with an evil stepmother who has an evil daughter and who make the young girl's life a living hell.
Though in Cinderella's sister, it's about the stepsister who's not that evil

Same female lead. the 'memory loss' thing instead on the female its on the male this time. the going back and forth with 2 guys and the guy who was lost his memory was presumed dead and ofc not. these 2 dramas have quite alot of similarites, stairway to heaven was more of a tearjerker but i cried a hell load watching winter sonata as well...
and u'll never forget ur 1st love~

Ep 1 was good 2&3 straight GARBAGE at about 90% chance of being bs for the rest of the show I mean the lvl of fuckery that has gone on is something that can only happen him prehistoric dramas like this.

This is my first kdrama. A tragic ending. I watched this when i was a grade schooler.
Until now, whenever i rewatched this my tears flow and still it affects me a lot.
KSW has beautiful eyes especially when he cries. I really love CJW.

Imagine if the same director makes remake of it, with young actors/actress as the main lead again. i wouldn't mind watching Park Shin Hye's and Baek Sung Hyun's love line

Kwon Sang Woo throws a boomerang shouting "Love always returns!". Why do people make fun of kdramas? This is why people make fun of kdramas.

    My thoughts about this drama.

-This drama was so overly dramatic that sometimes it was funny.
-It wasn't a bad drama (no, not at all)
-Something must be wrong with me because I never cried watching this. Not even once. (Kinda frustrating tbh)
-I absolutely loved the couple, their chemistry was so sweet.
-Loved the kisses in this! They had real kisses and also those tiny-little-random kisses all the time.
    -Relationship goals!
-That man is the perfect man, and nobody can convince me otherwise.

Thanks! I still remember the bus driver being amazed that I bothered to run to the next stop (the bus had stopped at traffic lights allowing me to catch up) when I finally got on he said to me "Blimey are you trying for the Olympics" :D

I totally agree with yumi - dono. ...I too just recently started watching this. I should have also watched this earlier as well. It was draining to watch. Even if the ending was well worth it. I was too exhausted by the middle parts which just became repetitive over and just didn't add to anything....and I couldn't even relate to the female lead after awhile. I guess back than it was the norm. Nowadays what woman doesn't stand up and fight for what is hers or at least speak the truth sooner rather than was almost unbearable.

Maybe I would have liked this drama if had watched it many years ago but the reality is that I just recently watched it.

I did like the main concept but they ruined it by adding so many unnecessary "chase after the main characters" scenes.

What I like about doramas is when they represent real life people I can feel related to and this drama does not have this characteristic. The characters were annoying and the way the acted was stupid and unrealistic.
